  • In this paper, we propose the algorithm that automatically measures the height of the object to move on the base plane by using the geometric information. To extract a moving object from images, we use the difference image and morphology operation. The top and bottom point of an object are extracted by the histogram vertical projection in the extracted region. The two points, top and bottom, are used for measuring the height. Given the vanishing line of the ground plane, the vertical vanishing point, and at least one reference height in the scene; then the height of any point from the ground may be computed by specifying the image of the point and the image of the vertical intersection with the ground plane at that point. Through a confidence valuation of the height to be measured, we confirmed similar actual height and result in the simulation experiment.

  • Air sparging system is a kind of in-situ bioremediation method in the contaminated ground water. When Air sparging, the both of water circulation and oxygen transfer happend in the same time. The hydraulic differential head is zero at the middle height of well, is negative below the height and is possitive above the height. Hydroraulic head gradient is proportioned to air superficial velocity in the well. But over 24m/min of the superficial velocity, the hydraulic head gradient increase little.

  • Mangrove crowns were delineated using active sensor LIDAR (LIght Detection And Ranging) data by a crown delineating model developed in this study. LIDAR data were acquired from airborne survey by a helicopter for the estuary of Macouria in the northeast coast of French Guiana. The canopy height image was derived from LIDAR vector data by calculating the difference between ground and non-ground data. The mangrove site in the study area was classified to three sectors by the time of mangrove settlement; Mangrove 1986, 2002 and 2003. The estimated crown of Mangrove 1986 was reliable defined for their size, number and volume because of larger crown size and bigger variation of crown height. The tree crown size of Mangrove 2002 and 2003 by the model was overestimated and the number of trees was much underestimated. The estimated crown was not for single crown but a crown group due to homogenous crown height and spatial resolution of LIDAR data. However the canopy height image derived from LIDAR data provided three-dimensional information of mangroves.

  • To make digital terrain data, automatic correlation matching by stereo airborne/satellite images has been researched. The result of automatic correlation matching has a limit on extracting exact ground height because of angle of sensor, tree of height. Therefore, the amount of editing works depend on the distribution of spatial feature in images as well as image quality. This paper shows that the automatic correlation matching result was affected by density and height of tree.

  • The tillage operation by rotary implements is widely done in Korea. In the case of rotary implements, the tillage depth control system is one of important implement control systems. A contact type-sensor for measurement of the ground height was designed and fabricated to evaluate the possibility of application of the sensor on the tillage depth control system. Indoor experiments were conducted to obtain static and dynamic detection characteristics of the sensor under various conditions; 1) several moisture contents for four soil samples, 2) two soil surfaces with a designed configuration, 3) four heights of the sensor from the soil surface, 4) five traveling speeds of the carrier on which the sensor was attached, and so on. The experimental results showed the detection characteristics of the sensor sufficient as the ground height sensor of the tillage depth control system.

  • A wing operating in close proximity to the ground exhibits a reduction in induced drag, which increase the lift/drag ratio. The poert-augmented ram (RAR) phenomenon involves directiing the efflux from forward mounted propulsion ststem under the wings, with the efflux nearly stagnated under the wings. In the present paper, 3 dimentional PAR was numerically studied by solving the Navier-Stokes equations. Pressure distribution and velocity vectors are calculated around the wing surface and the ground. Through the numerical simulation, Cp values and lift/drag ratio are carefully reviewed by changing the height/chord; 0.05, 0.1, 0.3 and 0.8. The shape of model is NACA 0012 with a span/chord ratio of 3.0. According to the numerical results, the relationship between lift/drag and height/chord is fairly reasonable.

  • In this paper, we propose the algorithm that automatically measures the height of the object to move on the base plane by using the geometric information. To extract a moving object from real-time images creates the background image and each pixel is modeled by the three values. The extracted region is represented by cardboard model and calculates the coordinate center in the each part. The top and bottom point of an object are extracted by the calculated coordinate center and an iterative computation.

  • This study investigated the degradation of N, N-Dimethyl-4-nitrosoaniline (RNO, indicator of the generation of OH radical) by using dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma. The DBD plasma reactor of this study consisted of a quartz dielectric tube, titanium discharge (inner) and ground (outer) electrode. The effect of shape (rod, spring and pipe) of ground electrode, diameter (9~30 mm) of ground electrode of spring shape and inside diameter (4~13 mm) of quartz tube, electrode diameter (1~4 mm), electrode materials (SUS, Ti, iron, Cu and W), height difference of discharge and ground electrode (1~15.5 cm) and gas flow rate (1~7 L/min) were evaluated. The experimental results showed that shape of ground electrode and materials of ground and discharge electrode were not influenced the RNO degradation. The thinner the diameter of discharge and ground electrode, the higher RNO degradation rate observed. The effect of height gap of discharge between ground electrode on RNO degradation was not high within the experimented value. Among the experimented parameters, inside diameter of quartz tube and gas flow rate were most important parameters which are influenced the decomposition of RNO. Optimum inside diameter of quartz tube and gas flow rate were 7 mm and 4 L/min, respectively.

  • This study was undertaken to compare the biomass of Abies koreana growing at two sites. A $10{\times}10m$ plot was established in each site of a natural stand in Mt. Jiri and a plantation in Gyeongsan nursery. Five trees of A. koreana were randomly selected in each site. The following traits were investigated from each tree : height, basal diameter, age, weight of stem, branches, and needles as above-ground traits and weight of total roots, horizontal roots, and vertical roots as below-ground traits. In Gyeongsan nursery, age of sample trees was negatively correlated with both height and weight of total stem, while height was highly correlated with weight of horizontal roots. There was high correlation between the basal diameter and weight of total stem, and between the basal diameter and weight of roots. In Mt. Jiri stand, most of the above-ground traits except age were significantly correlated with the below-ground traits. The linear regression equation between the cross section area of base (X) and the weight of total stem (Y) in Gyeongsan nursery was Y=12.66X-12.92, and correlation was significant ($R^2=0.89$). The linear regression equation between the cross section area of base(X) and the weight of total branches (Y) in Mt. Jiri stand was Y=25.51X+6.00, and correlation was highly significant ($R^2=1.0$).
