Analysis on MMORPG UI Layout and Research on Effective UI Demanded by Heavy User (MMORPG UI Layout 분석과 Heavy User 요구에 따른 효율적인 UI 연구 및 제시)

  • On-line game gradually grew into a significant part in Korean culture due to rapid development of internet. As icons are utilized as interface, the concept of UI(User Interface) receives spotlight in playing games, and the play bug appears most frequently in MMORPG genre. The introduction of icons brought partial inefficiency in dividing screen sectors while playing games, which means play sector is reduced. On the meantime, components of UI possess different places so that cause considerable confusion to heavy users. This study attempts to analyze the top 5 commonly-played games and to understand the necessity and status of UI components by surveying heavy users. The result of this study shows that there is notable difference between UI of games on-service and preference of heavy users. This study could suggest UI of a better quality by restructuring and rearranging the UI components based on the heavy users' preference as shown in the survey. It is expected that this study can contribute to creating a more effective game play by eliminating possible changes of UI upon different games and realizing broader play sector.

  • This study is to observe the correlation between user properties and user behavior on the mobile game, one of the most prominent digital contents with the most mutual interaction. Among various factors affecting on behaviors of game users, the user properties itself was accentuated, and the effect of individual and psychological quality on the use of game was evaluated. The user properties were mainly categorized into five factors of "interpersonal relationship", "level of game skill", "inclination of innovation", "self-esteem", and "competitive spirit", and the use behavior of game was categorized mainly into two types - quantitative behavior of "amount of use (time of use, consumption cost)" and qualitative behavior of "perceived satisfaction level (perceived enjoyment, perceived service quality, and perceived price)". As a result of study, in general, as the user quality subjected in this study is stronger, the amount of use and satisfaction level are higher. This study is to observe what type of user qualities leads to the more use, consumption, and satisfaction level of game contents to contribute to the study about the use of conventional digital contents and heavy use.

  • This paper describes a design model for the conceptual design of ships. Existing design models have problems such that their operating mode of batch versions cannot reflect the design procedures in reality. Reliability of the results is low because the performance estimations are based mainly on empirical formulas. To improve the problems of existing design models, a new design model has been developed. The new model consists of an interactive user interface, a database of main engines, a database of particulars of existing ships, and ten modules for performance estimations. To develop such a user-oriented system, the concept of graphical user interface (GUI) is adopted.

  • With the technical development of fourth industrial revolution, VR game market is rapidly expanding. Meanwhile, heavy user group means the group consisting of people consuming certain media or contents more than others, which is the core constituency of the media industry, and there have been only a few studies on them. This study identified the factors that influenced the continuous intention of use of VR game heavy users and figured out their characteristics by verifying the difference in variables with the light user group. According to the results, the heavy user group showed higher behaviors than the light user group in terms of personal innovation, presence, and continuous intention of use variables. In addition to this, it was found that personal innovation, perceived quality, and presence had a significant influence on the continuous intention of use. This study is intended to empirically analyze the characteristics of heavy VR game users and influential factors, thereby preparing baseline data for VR game development and other relevant studies.

  • This paper introduce about development of effective alarm system to apply to power system. This system includes index-components that display alarm information. It was changed color or position, value, etc by operator's tuning. According to use this system, User can not only perform easily a series of alarm analysis, but also can deal with custom system for only user.

  • This study introduced the concept of 'Media-content repertoire', which indicates the set of favorite media-content combinations of media users and extracted five media user types based on those combinations. We used the range of media(i.e., smartphone, tablet, PC, and TV) and entertainment content(i.e., movie, broadcasting, music, and game) for the analysis. Also, we investigated the differences between those types including demographic variables, individual characteristics, and content buying behavior and we found that statistically significant differences exist among them. Those include 'non-user'(i.e., lower level of media use), 'screen user'(i.e., 50s, TV-centered media use), 'variety seeker'(i.e., 20s. heavy public transport user), 'selective focus'(i.e., 20,30s, movie&broadcasting-centered media use), and 'heavy user'(i.e., high level of media use and consumption). The results provide both academic implications(e.g., extension of media repertoire concept) and practical implications(e.g., direction to the target marketing for each user type).

  • In this paper, the improvement of cap tilting system in heavy truck and the development of program for automatic design are discussed. Cab tilting system takes some important roles in heavy truck, absorbing discomfort vibration from load, increasing repair efficiency and making sure of safety. Common manual cab tilting system cannot be easily tilt up in sloped road, giving difficulty to driver as cal tilting up/down. So recently hydraulic cab tilting system is in wide use. But some problem such as tilting up/down speed is not constant and sudden swing of cab has brought discredit from user. Therefore, this paper presents advanced cab tilting system which prevents sudden swing of cab and development of program for selecting design parameters automatically.

  • In this paper, we developed a Windows 98 version of off-line programming system which can simulate a track vehicle model in 3D graphics space. The track vehicle was adopted as an objective model. The interface between users and the off-line program system in the Windows 98´s graphic user interface environment was also studied. The developing language is Microsoft Visual C++. Graphic libraries, OpenGL, by Silicon Graphics, Inc. were utilized for 3D Graphics.

  • Since the first proposition of IEC61850 object model at 1993, many questions about making a seamless model have been issued. the reason which they have worry about is that the functions of the equipment are supposed to be changed properly and new equipment and scheme are need to be introduced according to user's application. To handle those issues, TC57 which is a IEC committee for power control and communication has continuously updated the object model. Nowadays along with the new object model involving power quality, distribution resource and wind power, the committee has a plan to announce the revision of IEC61850-7-4. In the study, authors will present the prediction and diagnosis object models for transformer. Transformer models for protection and control have already been dealt with in the international standard but the models for prediction and diagnosis have never mentioned until now. Designing the prediction and diagnosis functions with the existing IEC61850-7-4, it'll be shown what is a proper object model for prediction and diagnosis.

  • In this paper a remote monitoring and control system using Modem for UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) is proposed. The conventional remote monitoring system for UPS is used to local remote monitoring system by RS232 or RS485 communication code. But recently. the system is changed to wide remote monitoring and control system using Modem for quick analysis of errors, correction of errors, report of errors and other user-friendly functions. In this study, we designed and develope system which is able to control UPS an monitor errors, statuses, actual values transmitted from UPSs of each site.
