  • Purpose: To analyze the frequency of emergency room visits according to socioeconomic factors of emergency room visitors. Methods: In this study, frequency analysis, percentage analysis, and x2 test were performed using the SPSS 23.0 program based on the 2018 data from the Korea Health Panel. Results: Among 1,648 participants included in this study, 1,279 visited the emergency room only once in the past year, while 369 visited the emergency room more than once. The relationship between frequency of emergency room visits and socioeconomic factors was analyzed using x2 test, and no statistically significant relationship was noted between emergency room visits and education, economic activity, insurance type, and individual quartile income. However, a significant relationship was noted between emergency room visits and being handicap and living in households with quintile income. Conclusion: The study determined the relationship between frequency of emergency room visits and socioeconomic factors. A follow-up study analyzing socioeconomic factors of outpatient departments, 119 ambulance transport services, and frequency of emergency room visits among chronically ill patients is needed to provide basic data for establishing health policies among different socioeconomic strata.

  • School's preservation of health aims at the promotion of efficiency for school education as it promotes students and all teaching staffs' health. In this study, 26 elementary schools in seoul were selected and analyzed, in order to make a basic plan of efficient public health room where students and all teaching staffs can be actively treated their physical and mental problems. The basic direction of school health was referred to promote school's preservation of health. A public health room should have each necessary field to do their own parts. Besides, its space plan has to be designed in detail so that the room can be convenient and comfortable. Unlike until now, we need to change our mind into planing a public health room apart from a school plan.

  • Purpose: This study aims to substantiate a correlation between the period of living alone in a shabby one-room and a depression experience. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study using data from the Korea Homeless Survey carried out by the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs in 2016. In the study, the data included 485 survey participants who resided in a single room. The period of single-room occupancy being divided into three groups: less than 1 year, 1 to 4 years, and more than 5 years was considered a primary independent variable. The outcome variable which represented a depression experience was measured by CESD-11(The Center for Epidemiological Studies-Depression Scale). We carried out a Chi-square test and multiple logistic regression to evaluate the association. Results: The rate of depression experienced in this population was 77.5%. Almost 83.9% of the participants were reported as being unable to receive the mental health counselling in the last 12 months. After controlling for covariates, subjects who were living in a single room occupancy for 1-5 years(OR=3.89; 95% CI=1.43-10.56) and more than 5 years(OR=2.71; 95% CI= 1.05-6.95) were found to be more likely to experience depression. Conclusions: The results showed that living alone in a shabby one-room had a high correlation with experiencing depression. We proposed that there is a need to develop a new strategy for mental health promotion program for the poor, vulnerable and deprived population.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the level and related factors related to health-promoting lifestyle in operating room nurses in Korea. Method: A cross-sectional descriptive survey design was employed. The data were collected using questionnaire for three weeks in December 2018 from 110 operating room nurses working for more than six months in a general hospital located in Seoul. The Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile-II, The Korean Version of the Practice Environment Scale of Nursing Work Index, and Operating nurse's Job stress Factor Scale were used. Results: Significant relationships were observed between health promoting lifestyle and educational level(p= .025), perceived economic status (p= .001) wearing a lead apron for protection from radiation during the operation(p< .001), work satisfaction(p= .016), and fatigue related to work(p= .006). Also significant correlations were identified between nursing work environment and health promoting lifestyle. However, the health promoting lifestyle was not statistically different based on occupational stress(p= .365). In multiple linear regression analyses, the level of health promoting lifestyle found to be higher in subjects who did not wear a lead apron for protection from radiation(p= .017), and who had more positive perception of the nursing work environment(p= .034). Conclusion: In order to increase health promoting lifestyle of operating nurses, the strategies to improve the nursing work environment are essential.

Participants were fifty nine school health teachers with more than 3 years of career. As the years go by, utilization of school health room has gradually increased. Utilization of female than male was higher than 200%, i.e. Elementary school girls in urban area were the highest rate, and secondary school boys in urban area were the lowest. In male, utilization of school health room was in order the skin and subcutaneous, musculoskeletal, and digestive problems, and also was in order the skin and subcutaneous, digestive, and musculoskeletal problems in female. Utilization of in urban elementary school was higher on patricular health problem than in suburban areas. Nursing interventions of most often using were self-care management & education and counselling. Nursing intervention was the highest degree of difficulty in self-harm, seizure, circulatory health problems. In conclusions, utilization of school health room has gradually increased; therefore workload of school health teacher aggravated. To perform a heath teacher to effectively operate the general and emergency health issues, the expansion of qualified school health teachers is needed, and the standardized guidelines and refresher training programs is required.

Therefore, a caring service from the healthcare providers can also be requested for the family members. The movie 'Mabin's Room' deals with family problems. In this study, the assessment, problem, diagnosis and planning for the family nursing situation for family problems were made focusing on the role of characters in the movie 'Mabin's Room'. Regarding family nursing intervention, the framework of the story 'Mabin's Room' was reorganized to solve the problems based on the role of community health nurse. In this scenario approach method, the situation in the movie is used without change but the scenario related to the roles (or communication) of community health nurse for solving the family problems is added. It is a problem solving oriented method by reorganizing the scenario in a movie story situation. The reorganized scenario in this study is just an example of scenario approach method. Community Health Nurses can cultivate their creativity by solving various problems in the community by adopting or modifying this simple scenario in practice.

  • Purpose: The effect of two different levels of illumination and the effect of three letter chart types on subjective refraction findings were investigated. Methods: This study involved thirty Malay university students aged between 19 to 23 years old (7 males, 23 females), with their spherical refractive error ranged between plano to -7.75D astigmatism ranged from plano to -1.75D, anisometropia less than 1D and with no history of ocular injury and pathology. Monocular subjective refraction was measured under two levels of illumination (with and without room light) and with three different letter charts (Snellen letter chart, wall mounted letter chart and projected letter chart). Subjective refraction finding was calculated in spherical equivalent in unit diopter (D). Results: There was no significant effect in the subjective refraction findings with Snellen letter chart (t-test=0.15, p-value=0.88), projected letter chart (t-test=-0.19, p-value=0.85) as well as wall mounted letter chart (t-test=0.12, p-value=0.94). One Way ANOVA also revealed when the subjective refractive measures were compared under two different level of room illumination (with and without room light), no significant effect of letter chart types on subjective refraction readings with room light ($F_{2.185}$=0.11, p-value=0.89) and without room light ($F_{2.185}$=0.02, p-value=0.98). Conclusions: Subjective refraction findings were not affected whether the room light was on or off. They were also not affected by the types of letter chart used.
