This research was conducted to provide basic document on efficient health promotion behavior program that elementary school students can use from elementary school course to enhance health promotion behavior for healthy life by checking out the degree of the most influential factor for health promotion behavior about elementary school students who establish lifelong health habit, and by checking out the relation between the degree of self-efficacy and health promotion behavior. The number of subjects of this research was 598. They were all elementary school students from the sixth grade students of the 5 cities of the Kyeong Nam province. We conducted questionnaires and did statistical analyses by using 592 papers which were suitable for date analyses with SPSS. The conclusions were as follows; A. The degree of self-efficacy The degree of self-efficacy of elementary school students was more than average. The degree of self-efficacy on physical activity was the highest and the degree of self-efficacy on self-fulfillment was the lowest. The degree of self-efficacy of girl students was comparatively higher than that of boy students. When their parents got higher education, made a lot of money and kept harmony with their children, the degree of self-efficacy became high. Furthermore, when their parents or themselves have a lot of interest in health, they feel that they are healthy, and they feel that they are satisfied with their bodies, the degree of self-efficacy was high too. B. The degree of health promotion behavior Although the degree of health promotion behavior of elementary school students was a bit lower than the degree of self-efficacy, it was higher than average. The degree of health promotion behavior on physical activity was the highest. But the degree of health promotion behavior on health of their own was the lowest. The degree of health promotion behavior between girl students and boy students was the same. When their parents got higher education, made a lot of money and kept harmony with their children, the degree of self-efficacy became high. Furthermore, when their parents or themselves have a lot of interest In health, they feel that they are healthy, and they feel that they are satisfied with their bodies, the degree of self-efficacy was high too. C. The relation between self-efficacy and health promotion behavior When the degree of self-efficacy was high, the degree of health promotion behavior was high too. So there was high positive relationship between self-efficacy and health promotion behavior. Physical activity showed the highest relationship. The order of strong relationship run as follows. Relationship with others, self-fulfillment, management of stress. The higher self-efficacy which was a recognizable factor on health behavior, the higher the degree of health promotion behavior. It is being revealed that many modem chronic diseases are cause by accumulated careless attitude on harmful health habit and lack of self-control. The behavior of keeping healthy and enhancing health is more firm when they have high self-efficacy which is believing their own conviction. So, When we teach elementary school students health promotion education at school, we should try to enhance their own self-efficacy rather than just instill simple information about health. By doing so, we can help them change their attitude on health. Then, they could enjoy life-long healthy life.

Purpose: This study aims to explore the mediating effect of the health self-efficacy and activity confidence in the relationship between body image and health promoting behavior in middle school girls. Methods: A descriptive correlational design was used. Participants were 142 in middle school girls. The questionnaire consisted of measuring tools for body image, health promoting behavior, health self-efficacy and activity confidence. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and the PROCESS Macro for SPSS 23.0 to verify the multiple mediated effect with a parallel structure. Results: Body image showed a significant positive correlation with health self-efficacy (r=.28, p=.001), activity confidence (r=.45, p<.001) and health promoting behavior (r=.37, p<.001). Health self-efficacy was also significantly correlated with activity confidence (r=.51, p<.001) and health promoting behavior (r=.63, p<.001). Activity confidence was significantly health promoting behavior (r=.67, p<.001). Furthermore, health self-efficacy (B=.35, p<.001) and activity confidence (B=.38, p<.001) showed a mediation effect on the relationship between body image and health promoting behavior. Conclusion: The impact of body image on health promoting behavior in middle school girls was mediated by health self-efficacy and activity confidence. Result suggest that strategies for improving health self-efficacy and activity confidence in middle school girls should be considered when developing an educational program for enhancing their health promoting behavior.
High school is regarded as the period when many important physical, mental and social developments occur, and when many health-related behaviors are formed. School health education is one of the major learning resources influencing health potential in the home and community as well as for the individual student. High school health education in Korea has a fundamental systemic flaw however, in that health -related subjects are divided and taught under various subjects at school. In order to achieve quality health education, it is essential to assess the learners' and teachers' educational needs. So far, most of the research projects that had been carried out for improving high school health education were limited to only the learners' educational need. They failed to in elude an educational assessment of the teachers. Therefore, in this study the high school health education teachers' needs relating to health education were investigated through a focus on the teachers' health education activity level, health education activity self-efficacy level, and perceived level of importance in health education content. In this study, research instruments these factors were constructed by Yoo(1997) on the basis of the PRECEDE model. The data for this study were collected from a sample consisting of twenty general and vocational high schools in Seoul and Chongju for a two month period beginning in July, 1996. In analyzing the data, an ANOVA test and stepwise multiple regression were accomplished using an SPSS - PC+ program. The results were as follows: The average level of health education activity and self-efficacy among high school health edu cation teachers were found to be low. But, teachers' perceived importance of health education contents was high. Teachers' activity and perceived importance concerning sex education were lower than in other health education areas. Health education activity of Military drill teachers was higher than that of physical education teachers as well as school nurses. But it was not significant. Health education activity self-efficacy of school nurses was higher than that of other teachers(p<.05). Perceived level of importance of health education contents was the most influential variable in teachers' health education activity. Health education activity self-efficacy level was not an influential variable in teachers' health education activity. The significance of this study is that it has diagnosed the needs of high school health education through the teachers' assessment of a variety of health factors related. These findings suggest that the management of an integrated health education, program requiring large changes in the curriculum of health education is necessary.
Objectives: The researchers investigated the relationship among fun seeking, self-efficacy, interest in physical activity and actual physical activities of male college students, in orders to provide valuable information to professionals in health promotion. Methods: The participants were 316 male college students whose ages ranged from 18 to 30(M=22.53, SD=2.09). The questionnaires and psychological tests used in this research included the following: sub-scale of Korean Version of BAS/BIS Scale, The General Self-Efficacy Scale, International Physical Activity Questionnaires, & sub-scale of The Intrinsic Motivation Inventory for physical activity. Results: Results indicated that male students who had moderate level of fun seeking were more likely to engage in physical activities than those who showed low or high level of fun seeking. And students with the strong self-efficacy were more likely to do physical activity than with the weak self-efficacy, especially high level of physical activity. Male students who had greater interest in physical activity were more likely to engage in physical activities than those who were not interested in physical activity. A regression analysis revealed that interest in physical activity accounted for the most variance; it accounted for around 14.5% variance of actual physical activity with self-efficacy. The interaction effect of self-efficacy and interest in physical activity was significant for actual physical activity. Conclusion: This study reiterates the roles of self-efficacy and the interest in physical activity on physical activity, and found that non-linear relation of fun seeking to physical activity. These results may provide useful information for health practitioners.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between cognitive function and self efficacy, health behavior of the elderly participation to physical activity. Data were collected from November 2015 to January 2016. The study subjects were 61, aged 65 years or older, to visit health town. The questionnaire was composed general characteristics and K-MoCA, self-efficacy scale, self-efficacy for exercise tools, Korea's elderly health behavior. The results of the study were as follows: As for cognitive function and exercise self-efficacy by general characteristics, there were differences in that regard according to gender, education, marital status, dependents form, duration of the program(p <.05), the general self-efficacy showed differences in gender, age, education, economic status, duration of the program(p <.05), and the health behavior showed differences in gender, education, marital status, dependents form, activity program, duration of the program(p <.05). There was a significant correlation between cognitive function and exercise self-efficacy, health behavior(p <.01). General self-efficacy was correlated with exercise self-efficacy, health behavior. And exercise self-efficacy was correlated with health behavior(p <.01). Exercise self-efficacy were the factor affecting the cognitive function(p <.01). Therefore, the activity program development for the practice and sustainable participation in physical activity in the elderly is believed to be made.
Objectives: The purpose of the study was to test a model of physical activity of elderly living in Korea, determine significant factors contributing the physical activity, and examine significant paths in the model. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted using a convenience sample of 207 elderly men and women, aged 60 and older, residing in Busan Metropolitan City. Data were collected from July to August 2009 and analyzed using Predictive Analytics Software (PASW) and Analysis of a Moment Structures (AMOS). Results: The fitness of the modified model was confirmed to be appropriate (${\chi}^2$ = 55.61, ${\chi}^2$/df = 1.32, p = .078, RMSEA = .04, GFI = .96, AGFI = .91, NFI = .90, NNFI = .94, CFI = .97, PNFI = .48). The elder's age, previous exercise behavior, and self-efficacy were significant in explaining the variance in their physical activity. We found that (a) perceived health status, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, and social support directly affected self-efficacy; (b) previous exercise behavior and perceived health status directly affected perceived benefits; (c) previous exercise behavior directly affected perceived barriers; and (d) and education level, extent of pocket money, and economic level directly affected social support. Conclusions: The younger the age, the more previous exercise experience, and the higher the self-efficacy, the more S. Korean elders demonstrated improved physical activity.

Purpose: We aimed to identify factors influencing physical activity in adolescents with complex congenital heart disease. Methods: We recruited 92 adolescents with complex congenital heart disease from a tertiary medical center in Seoul, measured their levels of physical activity, and identified factors that influenced their physical activity levels using the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire, the New York Heart Association classification, congenital heart disease complexity, the Self-Efficacy Scale, and the Parental Bonding Instrument scale. Stepwise multiple linear regression was used to determine factors influencing physical activity. Results: Total physical activity was higher in males than in females (t=4.46, p<.001). Adolescents who participated in school physical education classes engaged in more physical activity than those who did not (t=6.77, p<.001). Higher self-efficacy (${\beta}=.41$, p<.001), male gender (${\beta}=.37$, p<.001) and participation in school physical education classes (${\beta}=.19$, p=.042) were associated with a higher likelihood of engagement in physical activity. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop nursing interventions that enhance self-efficacy in order to promote physical activity in adolescents with complex congenital heart disease. Physical activity should also be promoted in an individualized manner, taking into account gender, disease severity, and parental attitude.
This study has tried to find the gap of health promoting behavior and the lower level-health responsibility, physical activity, self-actualization, stress management and self-efficacy-between new freshmen and other university students in dormitories who have taken health education as an elective course through health education. With 105 students conducted self-answering survey. It was conducted from June 12 to June 13 of the year 2013. Analysis has been conducted into 5-point scale in every parts of health promoting behavior, 4-point scale in self-efficacy. As a result of the study, after health education, the increasing level of the score was bigger than general university students in preceding research before education; from this, we could interpret that the peers who live together lead positive competition. For before-and-after affects of education, after-education score increased statistically significantly higher from before-education score for both freshmen and other students on every item of the survey. Especially, self-efficacy and stress management, which are the lower level of health promoting behavior, have shown statistic significance of health education. When comparing freshmen and other students, the item that showed significant difference was 'self-efficacy,' and for both before and after health education, other students had higher score than freshmen. Based on the result of the analysis, for those who live together with group of people such as in-dorm students, group education is preferred to personal education; in addition, when selecting health education recipients, better achievement of education will be expected by primarily educating students who have lower level of self-efficacy and stress, especially freshmen who have lower self-efficacy level than other students in university.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of a lifestyle modification program for Korean adults with cardiovascular disease risk factors on their health behaviors and health status. Methods: A total of 448 adults with abdominal obesity and additional cardiovascular disease risk factors(high blood pressure, low HDL-cholesterol, high triglyceride or high blood glucose) were randomly assigned to either an intensive intervention group (IIG, n=216) or a minimal intervention group(MIG, n=232). Participants in the IIG received lifestyle modification program which consisted of health counseling with nutrition assessment, health booklet and health diary, while those in MIG received minimal information. Results: The participants in the IIG significantly improved dietary habits(p<.05), retrained eating(p<.001), external eating(p<.01) behaviors, leisure time physical activity(p<.05), dietary self-efficacy(p<.01), exercise self-efficacy(p<.01) and MetS score(p<.001) after 3 months. In addition, the participants in the IIG showed more improvement in dietary habits(p<.05) compared with those in the MIG. Conclusion: The lifestyle modification program was effective in improving some health behaviors, behavioral determinants and cardiovascular risk factors for a short term.
Ankylosing spondylitis(AS) is one of the most common forms of chronic arthritis causing pain and progressive disability. The purposes of this study were 1) to develop an offline educational program and online educational program for the patients with ankylosing spondylitis; and 2) to test the effectiveness of each program in terms of changes in ankylosing spondylitis self-efficacy, exercise continuity disease activity, physical functioning, and depression. The convenient samples for three groups were selected acceding to the inclusion criteria. Online education group consists of 7 patients, and 14 patients were included for the offline group, while 12 patients were assigned to the control group. Outcomes variables included self efficacy, exercise continuity, disease activity, physical function, and depression and the reliability of each measure was ranged from .88 to .95 in the present study. The offline educational program demonstrated positive effects on self-efficacy, exercise continuity, disease activity, and depression, whereas the online educational program on exercise continuity, disease activity, and depression. The self-efficacy was showed positive effect only in the offline educational program, whereas physical functioning did not improve in both intervention groups. These partial improvements may be due to the small sample size and the methods of online education program. In conclusion, the effectiveness of the offline and online educational programs was partially supported in the present study. For the improvement of these programs, the further study would be necessary to apply this kind of intervention program with larger sample and to test the psychometric of the newly development tools.
