Effects of the Low Power He-Ne IR Laser Treatment on the Liver Damage Induced with $CCI_4$ in Rats

  • This study was investigated the effects of the lower power He-Ne IR laser treatment on the changes of blood biochemical components in the rat liver damaged by the carbon tetrachloride (CCl₄). The twenty one Sprague-Dawley adult male rats weights (260±18.6 g) were designed to the three groups: one control group and two experimental groups, the experimental groups were divided into the CCl₄-treated groups and the laser therapy group (CCl₄+ Laser). The experimental groups were injected twice with CCl₄(1.0 ml/kg body weight) intraperitoneal for two days. Each group was sacrificed after two weeks irradiated with the lower power He-Ne IR laser for ten minutes per every day. The activity of alanine aminotransferase (ALT), lactic dehydrogenase (LDH), alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and the concentration of serum glucose treated with He-Ne IR laser groups was significantly decreased to the conrtol (treated with carbon CCl₄) group. The activity of aspartate aminotransferase (AST) was decreased in the laser group but not significantly, the concentration of the serum cholesterol in the laser group was significantly increased comparing with the control and case control groups. In conclusion, the effect of the lower power He-Ne IR laser treatment is believed to be a possible protective effects for CCl₄ induced acute hepatotoxicity in rats.

Effects of the low power He-Ne IR laser on the healing of the peripheral neuropathy in diabetic rats (저에너지 He-Ne IR laser가 당뇨쥐 말초 신경병증 치유에 미치는 영향)

  • This studies were to investigate the effects of low power Helium-Neon Infra-Red (He-Ne IR) laser on the healing of the peripheral neuropathy in diabetic rats. The twenty one Spraque-Dewley adult male rats were assigned to the 3 groups: the control group (7), the diabetic group (7) and the laser group (7). The diabetic group was induced with a single intravenous injection of 50mg/kg body weight streptozotocin dissolved to 0.01mol/L citrate buffer, pH 4.5. The experimental laser group was irradiated low power He-Ne IR laser for 5 minutes every day during 21 days to the diabetic group. The results were as follows: For on and two weeks with laser treatment, there were significantly increased the terminal latencies of the laser treatment group than those of diabetic group, but that was significantly decreased to be similar to the control group on the laser treatment group for three weeks. The change of the amplitude on the laser treatment groups for three weeks was significantly increased to be similar to normal group than that of the diabetic group. As the result, we thank that there were activately effected of lower power He-Ne IR laser on the heeling of the peripheral neurophathy in diabetic rats.

  • This studies were to investigate the effects of low power intensity Helium-Neon Infra-Red(He-Ne IR) laser on the changes of the serum immunoglobulin(1g) components in burn rats, The fourty eight Spraque-Dawley adult male rats were assigned to the 8 groups: the experimental groups(4), the burn control groups(2) and the control groups(2) There was made three degree burn by the 250mW IR on the back of each rats, from 3 days after being burned, the experimental laser groups were irradiated low power He-Ne IR laser for 3 minutes and 4.5 minutes every day during the 7days and 21 days. The results were as follows: The concentrations of immunoglobulin G(Ig G) in serum of burn rats on the treated with during the 3minutes laser for 7 days were higher than those of burn and 4.5 minutes laser groups. There were significantly decreased the change of the level of immunoglobulin M(Ig M) in serum of burn rats on the treated with 3 minutes laser for 7 days to the control group, but were significantly increased on the 3minutes and 4.5 minutes laser groups for 21 days to the those of burn and control groups, and the levels of the Ig M on the 3minutes laser group for 21 days were higher than those of 7 days. The concentrations of immunoglobulin E(Ig E) in serun of the burn rats on the experimental and burn groups were significantly lower than those in control group. As above results, The changes of the level of immonoglobulin components in serum have meaningful role in the healing process on the treated with the low pewer intensity of HE-Ne IR laser.

The concentrations immunoglobulin E(Ig E) in serum of the 292Hz wavelengths groups were significantly lower than those in bum control group. As above results. the changes of the immunoglobulin in serum levels on the healing process have meaningful effected with the low power wavelengths role on the treated with He-Ne IR laser.

The results were as tallows: 1. There were significantly not changes of the levels of serum sodium between all experimental groups. 2. The concentration of potassium in serum on the treated with 292Hz wavelengths group during 5 minutes were significantly increased ,but with 1168Hz wavelenghths group were decreased to the those of burn group. 3. The concentrations of serum calcium in serum 1168Hz wavelengths laser group on the treated with 5 minutes laser were significantly higher to normal level than those of bum groups. As above results. the changes of the 2 essentials mineral(calcium and potassium) in serum levels on the healing process have meaningful effected with the low power wavelengths role on the treated with He-Ne IR laser.

  • This studies were to investigate the effects of low power Helium-Neon Infra-Red(He-Ne IR) laser on the changes of the chemical components in serum of the peripheral neuropathy in diabetic rats. TRIG was significantly increased the laser treatment group than the diabetic group. 7. CPK was significantly increased the laser treatment group than the control group and the diabetic group.

The results wee as follows: The activities of aspirate aminotransferase(AST), alanine aminotransferase(ALT), and lactate dehydrogenase(LDH), on treated with the wavelengths ((292Hz, 1168Hz, 4672Hz) laser groups during 5 min. for 7 days were significantly increased to the control group respectively, but those of total cholesterol(CHOL) and alkaline phosphatase(ALP) were significantly decreased to the a control group (p<0.05). there were significantly decreased on the activity of alanine aminotransferase and alkaline phosphatase on the all experimental groups to the burn control group and those of lactate dehydronase on treated with 292Hz and 4672Hz wavelength9 groups to the burn control group but, were significantly increased on those of urea nitrogen (292Hz and 1168Hz)(p<0.05). The activity of AST, LDH, on treated with 1168Hz wavelengths were significantly decreased of the 292Hz and 4672Hz wavelengths groups that of ALT on the treated with 1168Hz group was significantly increased to the 4672 Hz wavelength group but those of CHOL and LDH on the 1168Hz and 4672Hz wavelength groups were dignificatly decreased to the MHz wavelengths group. As above results, the changes of the activities of biochemical conponents in the serum levels on the healing process have meaningful effected of the role of low power wavelengths He-Ne IR laser.

  • Low power laser and neuromuscular electrical stimulation have been utilized in many clinical applications for the treatment of musculoskeletal lesion. This study was to investigate the effects of low power He-Ne IR laser and neuromuscular electrical stimulation on the change of the serum biochemical components in experimentally induced muscle injured rats. The twenty Sprague-Dawley male rats were randomly assigned to the 4 groups: the normal group (n=5), the control group (n=5), the low power laser irradiation group (LLI) (n=5) and the neuromuscular electrical stimulation group (NMES) (n=5). The experimentally induced muscle injury was induced by the subcutaneous injection of a 0.1 ml Freund's Complete Adjuvant into the right hind paw and calf muscles in control, LLI and NMES groups. The LLI group was irradiated with He-Ne IR laser for 5 minutes every day during 10 days. Also, the NMES group was electrically stimulated 15 minutes every day during 10 days. The normal and control groups were not received with any therapeutic intervention. The authors performed tests which were the concentration of the serum biochemical components to detect the effects of therapeutic interventions. The results were as follows: 1. The level of the aspartate aminotransferase (AST) was significantly decreased in the LLI and NMES groups compare to the control group. 2. The level of the serum lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) was significantly decreased in the LLI and NMES groups compare to the control group. 3. The level of the serum creatine kinase (CK) was significantly decreased in the LLI and NMES groups compare to the control group. From the results, we could come to the conclusion that low power laser and neuromuscular electrical stimulation could be accelerating healing processes of skeletal muscle injury and further clinical work will be required.

The Effect of He-Ne IR Laser Therapy on The Healing of Acute Septic Knee Arthritis in Rat (흰쥐의 화농성 슬관절염 치유에 He-Ne IR레이저 처치의 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of He-Ne, IR laser therapy for 4 and 10 minutes on healing of septic arthritis. Sprague-Bawley rats (212.1$\pm$10 g) were randomly assigned to one control and three arthritis groups. Septic arthritis groups were divided into arthritis control, 4 or 10 minute laser therapy groups. Arthritis was experimentally induced by intraperitoneally administration of staphylococcus aureus in citrate buffer(pH 4.3). These result were obtained as follows: AST, LDH, ALP, CK activities and IgG concentration in 10 minute laser group were signifantly increased compare with those in the arthritis group. AST, LDH and CK activities in 4 minute laser group were significantly decreased compare with those in the arthritis group. We think that laser therapy in 4 minute may effective on the healing of septic arthritis. And we will have to study of the effect of laser therapy on healing mechanism, appropriate time of septic arthritis.

Effects of Low Level Laser Therapy on Oral Mucositis Caused by Anticancer Chemotherapy in Pediatric Patients (소아 암 환자에서 항암제 치료 후 발생한 구내염에 대한 저출력 레이저의 효과)

  • Background: Oral mucositis is a common complication of anticancer chemotherapy. The sequelae of this consist of an increased risk of infection, moderate to severe pain, compromised oral function, and bleeding. This study was performed to evaluated the effects of the He-Ne laser and the Ga-Al-As laser on oral mucositis caused by anticancer chemotherapy in pediatric patients. Methods: There were 3 cases of osteosarcoma and 6 cases of leukemia. All patients received He-Ne laser (632.8 nm wavelength, power 60 mW) application on 400-600 Hz scanning for 5-20 minutes and Ga-Al-As laser (904 nm wavelength, power 40 mW) application by fiberoptic hand piece placed in immediate proximity to the tissue without direct contact with it for 30 seconds per point for 5 days per week. During the application patients wore wavelength-specific dark glasses and were instructed to keep their eyes closed. Results: The mean number of treatments with oral intake was $4.89{\pm}0.64$. The mean number of total treatments was $9.44{\pm}2.59$. There were no significant side effects during and after the laser treatments. Conclusions: He-Ne laser and Ga-Al-As (IR) laser treatment were well tolerated and reduced the severity and duration of chemotherapy-induced oral mucositis in pediatric oncologic patients.
