The Research of the HERO Test and Evaluation Technique (HERO 시험평가 기법 연구)

  • This report presents the test technique using optic thermal sensor for the HERO evaluation of equipment installed EED. The calibration method of EED-thermal sensor assembly is explained by relation between the current in bridge wire and voltage in thermal sensor. And the HERO test and evaluation method is indicated based on MIL-STD-464A and MIL-STD-331C. The safety and reliability levels of EED-thermal sensor assembly are evaluated when exposed in the electromagnetic environment.

  • This paper describes the verification test on Electromagnetic Environmental Effects(E3), which conducted on ground as a final step to confirm the normal operation of ELINT pod and Safety-of-Flight of KF-16C/D mounted with ELINT pod prior to the initial flight. Based on MIL-STD-464A, indispensable 7 requirements among 14 detailed requirements total were carried out in the test. Considering the Safety-of-Flight(SOF), we invest a great deal of time and effort on Hazards of Electromagnetic Radiation to Ordnance(HERO) and Intra-system EMC test. E3 test and evaluation were performed on 62 equipments of KF-16C/D, respectively. As a result, we verify that KF-16C/D mounted with ELINT pod(hereafter "system") are electromagnetically compatible among all subsystems and equipment within the system and with environments caused by electromagnetic effects external to the system.

A Method for the Analysis of the Radiowave Receiving Characteristics of the Electric Detonator (전기뇌관의 전파 수신특성 분석방법)

  • In this paper, a method is proposed for the analysis of radiowave receiving characteristics of an ammunition with electric detonator. In this method, an ammunition with electric detonator is modelled as a receiving antenna with its gain obtained by computer simulation or measurement. The induced radiowave power is obtained by inserting the gain of the electric detonator in the antenna coupling formula. Radiowave receiving characteristics at very close distances are obtained by Treasuring the transmission coefficient between a half-wave dipole and the electric detonator model. Radiowave receiving characteristics of the electric detonator in a 105mm tank ammunition are obtained using the proposed method and the safety of the 900 MHz RFID reader on the detonator is assessed.
