  • Continued form part 1, this study is aimed for analyzing the property of hardened concrete According to the replacing change of fly ash and silica fume which has influence on the properties of high performance xoncrete. From the test results, the compressive and the drying shrinkage Strength are high when the replacing ratio of silica fume increases and the tensile strength appears high when the replacing of fly ash increases.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine through the experimental study whether the water cooled unprocessed blast furnace slag produced in the country is useful for the fine aggregate of concrete or not. The results of this study show that the quality of the water cooled blast furnace slag is inferior to that of natural river sand and that the concrete made by substituting the water cooled blast furnace slag for fine aggregate have a tendency to decrease to some extent in strength. But if the water cooled blast furnace slag is transformed into more hardened state material, to use it as the fine aggregate of concrete will be possible.

  • Porous concrete with a great deal of continuous porosity enables to contain water and to pass air freely through firmly hardened material, and allow necessary nutrients to reach roots of vegetation. Therefore, this paper deals with the voluntary properties and efficiency for planting of plant porous concrete. The results of experiment showed that void volumes were 17% to 31%, and compressive strength ranged between 80kgf/cm$^2$ and 180kgf/cm$^2$ when the ratio of the paste to aggregate was 0.3-0.5 When the aggregate size are 20-30mm, the paste to aggregate ratio is 0.3, and the length of Paranial Ryegress came up as 32cm. Ut supra the efficiency of planting goes through Paranial Ryegrass in result the length of plant are in compliance with void volume and aggregate size.

  • Strength provisions in Korea Concrete Institute code are more conservative that those in ACI code by increasing load factors and decreasing capacity reduction factors. Cement content of mix design in construction field is usually higher than the modified for standard deviation because of rigorous inspection. Higher cement content increases not only strengths but also heat of hydration, shrinkage and brittleness which are not beneficial. To reduce and optimize the cement content in current mix design of Korean Highway Corporation, properties of fresh and hardened concrete for 16 different mix proportions have been investigated. It is found that the chemical admixture and cement of current mix proportions for highway construction are somewhat higher than the optimum amount. Therefore, the optimum mix design for 16 different purposes has been proposed.

Mechanical and Durability Performance of Roller-Compacted Concrete with Fly Ash for Dam Applications

  • This study investigated the mechanical and durability performance of roller-compacted concrete (RCC) with fly ash for dam applications. A test program studied the effects on the properties of fresh and hardened RCC with fly ash replacement ratio, as well as the long-term durability of the resulting mixture. Fly ash replaced 20, 30, 40, and 50% by mass of the cement. Laboratory tests of the compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, shear strength, chloride ion permeability, abrasion, and drying shrinkage were conducted. The test results demonstrated that 30% fly ash replacement is an optimum level, and that this mixture has excellent mechanical and durability properties.

  • To save efforts for capping in the compressive strength tests of concrete, unbonded capping system has been standardized by ASTM C 1231 and AS 1012.9, respectively. These standards, however, do not sufficiently give a full detail of accessories such as steel retaining cap and rubber pad, especially hardness of rubber. Hence, without testing for sizes of steel retaining cap and rubber pad, tests for the quality control of rubber pads were conducted in detail according to Japanese studies. Based on tests, the range of hardness for rubber pad by the compressive strength(200~ 400kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$) of concrete has been proposed and the guideline of reuses of a rubber pad is described.

  • Fast-setting cement is usually used for emergency repair construction of roads, bridges, buildings and so on. In this study, we tried to develop fast-setting ultra early strength mortar for prepacked concrete and evaluated the properties of fresh and hardened concrete with it. The flowability of the mortar was high enough to be easily poured into coarse aggregates. It showed high early strength development which can make it possible to use newly constructed structures within $3\~4$ hours regardless of curing conditions such as curing temperature and curing environment. And it also showed good resistance to drying shrinkage and chemical attack.

  • Absorption of lightweight aggregate affects the properties of fresh and hardened concrete, so care must be taken. In this study, according to KS F 2533 absorption is measured to aggregate size, submerged time, holding time and practically ways to maintain a constant absorption was to seek. The findings for quality control of the lightweight aggregate concrete mixture is saturation of the surface-dry aggregate humidity 100% after 24 hours immersion in the environment has been stored for more than two days to absorb the state was able to define. Dry density at the surface of the lightweight aggregate and lightweight concrete mix design and placement is possible for it to apply.

  • This report is the results of an experimental study on the relative effectiveness of different types of steel fiber in concrete. The fibers considered in the study were straight-indent and hooked-collated with aspect ratios of about 50~100. A fiber volume of 0~2 percent was used throughout this investigation. The fresh fibrous mixes were characterized by the slump and vebe-time, and the hardened materials by their compressive and flexural load-deflection relationships. Hooked fibers were found to be more effective than straight ones in improving the strength and energy absorption of concrete.

  • This study presented a simple test method of early decision on the quality of concrete by the way of refrigeration curing. It is a method of early decision for the quality of hardened concrete, after 28days, through the using refrigeration curing, at -18$\pm$$3^{\cire}C$ for five hours. I could find that there were fixed connections between the solidities after 28days and 48days, by the test of compression on the Re-Mi-Con through the test of standard curing and refergeration curing. (F = 1.02X + 13, $r^2$ = 0.964, S = 10.6kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$) I except that we can reduce the mistakes of construction work by forecasting the quality through the refrigeration curing.
