A 5-bar structure with redundant actuators is proposed as a finger mechanism. It is shown that one additional redundant actuator greatly enhances the load handling capacity of the system. The actuator location should be carefully decided to maximize the performance enhancement. Furthermore, we develop stiffness and frequency control algorithms based on the internal loading created by redundant actuation. The effectiveness of these algorithms have been demonstrated by simulations.

So far, the port cargo handling capacity of general cargo was computed using simple formulae based on mathematical models. However, this simple calculation could not be able to reflect the reality. Thus, the simulation method was applied in this paper to overcome the limitation that the calculation method used in the past studies has. The process occurring from arrival to departure of a ship, which is reflecting the process rules of berth, was modeled to estimate the optimum level of handling capacity by using an example of the loading and unloading of an appropriated wharf at the harbor, and simulation was performed by developing the prototype. The actual processing capability of Mukho port was compared to the estimated capability calculated using the simulation method and the optimum level of capability could be computed by repeatedly simulating the input variable condition of the simulation prototype.
The objective of this study was to develop a portable auger for handling rough rice in bulk. For this purpose, a system analysis was taken for the systems of harvesting, drying, storage and transportation of rough rice and an optimal handling capacity of portable auger was determined. Then a portable auger of which capacity is 9.2 $m^3/h$ (Indica type rough rice, 19.5%, w.b.) was designed and manufactured by design requirements and tested. Test results showed that the performance of portable auger developed satisfied most design requirements.
This study aims to know temperature and humidity handling ability of Hwang-To brick and traditional paper window's in mock-up room test. To achieve these goals, mock-up room test was carried out. The results are as follows. 1) There are no significant differences among specimen in temperature handling capacity. 2) Traditional paper windows are very sensitive when compared with glass window in humidity control. 3) Traditional paper windows have a big handling capacity in humidity control when vapors letting out in mock-up room. 4) Hwang-To brick case is more stable than other cases in relative humidity variances because it has more potential to contain humidity.
This paper investigate the problems of standard container port handling capacity in establishing national port development plan in Korea. Considering container port developing, it's not easy to adopt container port service quality parameters such as lay time constraint of very large container ships by using the standard guideline of container port handling capacity. A simple methodology that connects vessel waiting to service time(w/s) and berth occupancy to costs has been used to evaluate the performance of a container terminal. But the total handling capacity have to be calculated by the performance of the handling system and number of equipments and layout of terminal by using computer simulation that represents of reality events needs to be performed by probabilistic techniques. A simulation model of estimation of container terminal capacity is introduced in order to establish a hub terminal for very large container ships that focus the port's quality of service and also suggest as tool for policy maker to justify a required port investment.
Background: Functional capacity evaluations (FCEs) are designed to systematically assess the capacity to perform work-related tasks and to determine worker's ability to return to the previous job following work-related injuries. These evaluations may be rated either by clinician or worker. There has been a lack of consensus between the two scoring methods. Objects: This study aimed: 1) to confirm if the data are fit to the Rasch rating scale model and 2) to investigate the item-level concordance rate between the ratings of clinician and injured worker of the FCE. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with a sample (n=124) of a rehabilitation program with the Occupational Rehabilitation Data Base for workers with low back pain. The functional capacity evaluation at admission and discharge was administered to clinicians and workers. The data were analyzed using both classical test theory-based Pearson's r and intra-class coefficient followed by item-level analysis with Rasch rating scale model. Results: All items of the FCE, except sitting items rated by clinician at admission and handling items rated by both clinician and worker throughout admission and discharge, were acceptable fit statistics with minor out of ranges for a misfit criterion. This may indicate that the items of the FCE overall fit to the Rasch rating scale model. Few problematic items responding differently to clinician and worker both at admission and discharge were detected with the differential item functioning analysis despite the excellent concordance rate using the two conventional statistics-sitting and handling items at admission and handling item at discharge. Conclusion: The item-level speculations using Rasch analysis of the FCE demonstrate that the ratings of clinician and self ratings of worker were psychometrically acceptable though there was an apparent discrepancy between the raters both at admission and discharge.
The purpose of this paper is to show a way for extracting the core input and output variable in Korean seaports by using principal component analysis and DEA(data envelopment analysis). Two inputs(birthing capacity, and cargo handling capacity) and three outputs(export cargo handling amount, import cargo handling amount, and number of ship calls), and three cross sectional data(1995, 2000, and 2004) for 26 Korean seaports are considered for measuring the efficiencies of 21 DEA models. 21 models can be treated as variables and efficiencies as observations for extracting the core inputs and outputs variables by using principal component analysis. An empirical main result indicates that core input variable is cargo handling capacity, and core output is the number of ship calls. The Korean seaport authority can adopt the DEA and principal component analysis for deciding the development and investment to each seaport.

Most q the domestic container terminals are inferior to throughput q container. The reason why they have the difference between the handling capacity q planed quay and its real. By putting into quay handling equipment, the productivity of quay can be improved, waiting rate q the ship can be lowed. This paper suggests more resonable terminal construction, throughout comparing with previous construction way, improved handling capacity and the economical efficiency of equipment costs, labor costs, construction costs, operation costs on change of terminal size by adding the equipment.

This paper presents a user-oriented port expansion simulation model that determines the future economic port capacity to meet the projected demand. The model consists of two parts; a physical impact simulation, and an economic impact simulation. The first part of the model simulates the effects caused by the port capacity expansion. The second part evaluates the port economics due to changes in the port capacity. The model was validated by applying it to the actual port expansion followed at the Port of Mobile, Alabama. A case study is then presented to demonstrate the capacity of the model with a coal handling port, the McDuffie Terminals at the Port of Mobile.

RMQC, rail mounted quay crane, lifts and moves large container by means of hoist and trolley motion on the dock. Our company is trying to develop advanced RMQC applying the concepts of elevator hoist and container conveyer for the automation and high efficiency in handling the boxes. Prior to the development of new products, it is necessary to check the capacity of conventional crane for reference. The program simulates container-handling rates and gives some design factors for the conventional cranes.
