녹색과 갈색의 경계지대 - 미국 도시근교자연문학과 생태비평의 영역확장 (A Borderland between Green and Brown Landscapes: An Ecocritical Road to Urban Nature Writing)

  • As a way to situate environmental literary study, urban nature recently seems to have become an increasingly important part of ecocritical studies. Considering the recent deprecation on the alleged ecocriticism's ecocentric position, this move looks promising. However, a scrutable review of recent publications of ecocritical studies reveals a contradicting result that an ecocritical approach to urban nature not only lacks substance but also makes too much of the cultural and political issues of 'environmental justice' in which the traditional value and beauty of nature is totally sacrificed and neglected for its political purpose. Under the current circumstance that the environmental crisis threatens all landscapes of wild, rural, and urban, ecocriticism needs to put together "green" landscapes of wildness and "brown" landscapes of urban environment. The interdependence between outback and urban landscapes is best observed in suburban areas in which both landscapes coexist and merge. Provided with due learning and attention of nonhuman environment in their backyard, suburban residents have privilege of both appreciating nature's beauty and value of its own, on the one hand, and acutely reckoning urban environmental concerns related to their health, safety, and sustenance, on the other, in their own home grounds. The post-1980s in the United States has witnessed the emerging voices of suburban nature writings that speak for both green and brown landscapes, which have escaped from ecocritical attention. Among the suburban nature writings, those of Michael Pollan and Thomas Mitchell well illustrate how the green and brown landscapes are interwoven and, accordingly, how environmental awareness of both landscapes can start in suburban 'home.' Ecocriticism's validation as relevant studies of literature and environment may depend on these suburban nature writings which demonstrate an 'ancient-future' ethic of "home" based environmentalism.

'생물교과논리 및 논술' 에서의 논증글쓰기에 대한 동료평가-자기평가-교수자 평가 간 상관관계 분석 (Correlation Analysis among Peer Evaluation, Self-evaluation and Instructor Evaluation on Argumentation Writing in the 'Biology Logic and Essay')

  • 이 연구는 '생물교과논리 및 논술' 수업에서 실시된 논증글쓰기에 대한 동료평가와 자기평가, 교수자 평가 간 상관관계를 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위해 14명의 예비 생물교사들이 네 차례에 걸쳐 논증글쓰기를 하였고, 이 결과물들을 대상으로 동료평가와 자기평가, 교수자 평가가 이루어졌다. 논증글쓰기에 대한 동료평가는 평균 2.70점이었고, 자기평가 평균은 2.68점, 교수자 평가 평균은 2.71점이었다. 하위 평가 영역별 평균을 살펴보면 동료평가에서는 과학지식이 가장 높았고, 자기평가에서는 구성 영역이 가장 높았다. 또한 교수자 평가에서는 과학지식 영역이 가장 높았다. 표준편차를 살펴본 결과 자기평가의 표준편차가 가장 크게 나타났다. 평가 유형 간 상관관계를 분석한 결과 동료평가와 교수자 평가 간에는 높은 상관관계를 보였고, 자기평가와 교수자 평가 간에는 보통의 상관관계를 나타냈다. 반면에 동료평가와 자기평가 간에는 유의미한 상관관계가 나타나지 않았다. 평가 영역별 상관관계를 분석한 결과에서는 동료평가와 자기평가 간에는 과학 지식, 과학 논증, 구성, 표현의 네 영역에서 모두 유의미한 상관관계가 나타나지 않았다. 또한 동료평가와 교수자 평가 간 분석에서는 과학 지식, 과학 논증, 구성 영역에서 유의미한 상관관계가 나타났다. 또한 자기평가와 교수자 평가 간에는 표현 영역에서만 유의미한 상관관계를 보였다. 이 연구의 결과는 '교과논리 및 논술' 수업에서 동료평가의 적용 가능성이 높음을 보여주는 것이다. 또한 동료평가와 자기평가를 활용하기 위해서는 평가 유형에 따른 평가 기준 세분화가 필요함을 시사하고 있다.

지역신문의 지방정부 보도자료 이용에 관한 연구: 신문사 규모를 중심으로 (A Study of the Impact of Newspaper Scale on the Use of Local Government's News Releases by Local Newspaper)

  • 본 연구는 지역신문의 규모가 지방정부 보도자료 이용 및 의존도, 보도성향에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 내용분석을 통해 체계적으로 알아보고, 나아가 지역언론인들에 대한 심층 인터뷰를 통해 어떠한 요인들이 지방정부 보도자료 이용형태 및 의존도에 영향을 미친다고 생각하는지를 살펴보고자 하였다. 본 논문은 문헌연구를 토대로 신문사의 규모와 보도자료의 이용률, 의존도, 그리고 보도성향간 부적인 관계를 가설화하여, 지방정부(경북도청)에서 배포된 보도자료와 동일 권역내 4개 지역신문의 지방정부 기사를 분석하였다. 연구결과에 의하면 신문사의 규모는 지방정부 보도자료 이용률과 의존도에 유의미한 영향을 미쳐, 신문사 규모가 클수록 이용률과 의존도는 낮으며, 작을수록 높게 나타났다. 또한 지역신문의 규모와 보도성향간 정적인 관계에 대한 가설은 부분적으로 지지되었다. 본 연구에서는 신문사 규모가 작을수록 중립적 보도를 상대적으로 적게 하고, 긍정적이거나 부정적인 보도를 상대적으로 더 많이 하는 것으로 나타났다. 지역언론인들은 어떠한 요인들이 보도자료 이용률 및 의존도에 영향을 미칠 것이라고 생각하는지를 조사하기 위해 심층 인터뷰가 실시되었다. 이를 통해, 취재보도 과정에서 사회적, 경제적 요인들이 어떻게 언론사 조직과 역동적으로 관여되고 있는지에 대한 의미해석이 이뤄졌다.

K-Pop 노랫말의 운율구조 변화 현상 : 댄스음악을 중심으로 (Metrical Structure Change Phenomenon of K-Pop Songs : Focusing on Dance Music)

  • 영어는 강세 박자 언어로서 강세 변화에 의한 발화의 재구조가 이루어지는 음운체계를 갖는다. 반면 한국어는 각각의 음절을 거의 똑같은 길이와 강도로 발음하는 음절 박자 언어로 일반적 발화 속에서 한국어와 영어는 분명하게 다른 운율체계를 갖는다. 그러나 K-Pop 음악 속에서 노랫말의 언어가 한국어와 영어, 두 가지 언어로 혼용되면서 K-Pop 음악 속에서의 한국어 노랫말은 영어처럼 강세변화에 의한 운율체계를 갖게 되었다. 이러한 한국어 노랫말의 운율구조 변화 현상을 신한류 지속화를 위해 앞으로도 지속될 수밖에 없는 필연적 현상으로 보는 것이 논자의 입장이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 K-Pop 음악의 주요 장르이자 리듬표현에 중점을 두는 댄스음악을 한류 변화 양상에 따라 1998년, 2003년, 2009년으로 구분하고, 각 시기의 노랫말 운율구조를 비교·분석하였다. 또한 이를 바탕으로 현재의 K-Pop 운율구조 특징을 도출하여 한 음표당 하나의 음절씩 배당하여 작사하던 기존의 제한적 작사법에서 벗어난 K-Pop 한국어 작사법을 제안하였다. 이 연구가 K-Pop에서 한국어 노랫말로 작사할 때의 하나의 방법론으로 활용되기를 바라며, 더불어 한국어 노랫말 사용의 장려 방안이 되기를 기대해 본다.

석전(石田) 황욱(黃旭)의 서예미학(書藝美學) 고찰 (A Study on the aesthetic of Calligraphy by Seok Jeon Hwang Wook)

  • 호남 서부의 전통적인 문한세가(文翰世家)의 후손인 석전(石田) 황욱(黃旭)(18913~1999)은 근·현대 서화계 흐름에 합류하지 않고 평생토록 선비의 풍모를 잃지 않고 자적지적(自適之適)하면서 오로지 전통서예에 천착하면서 독창적 악필법과 서예세계로 만년에 각광을 받았던 인물이다. 6.25 전쟁 직후 두 아들의 좌익활동으로 인해 가정적으로 큰 아픔을 겪으면서 가산은 탕진되었다. 이처럼 인간사에서 가장 고통스럽고 감내하기 힘든 시기에도 필묵시금(筆墨詩琴)에 의지하며 올곧은 선비정신과 민족애를 잃지 않으며 상고정심(尙古正心)하였다. 그리고 세속적인 감관의 쾌락을 초월한 무기무욕(無己無欲)의 '참된 즐거움(大樂)'속에서 자득하고 소요유(逍遙遊)하였다. 그의 학서과정은 특별한 스승없이 왕희지·구양순·안진경·조맹부와 신위·이삼만 등의 서체를 집중 연마하였다. 특히 환갑 이후에 찾아온 수전증으로 인해 절필의 위기를 맞이하였으나 강인한 의지력을 발휘하여 그 누구도 범접치 못할 웅건강기(雄健剛氣)의 악필법을 개발하는 등 새로운 예품과 예격으로 환골탈태하였다. 1965년~1983년까지는 '우수 악필법'을, 1984년~1993년 시기는 '좌수 악필법'을 사용하였다. 1973년(76세) 첫 개인전인 회혼기념서예전을 통해 서예가로서의 명성을 널리 알리게 되었다. 그의 필법은 역대 서법과 인위적인 기교를 초탈하여 천연졸박(天然拙樸)한 본성을 발현하여 생경(生硬)하면서도 근골이 넘친다. 그리고 침저험경(沈着險勁)한 추획사(錐劃沙)와 중후웅건(重厚雄健)한 인인니(印印泥)한 개성적 필의는 기이한 신운을 자아내며 기존 서법을 뛰어 넘는 독창적인 석전체(石田體)를 이루었고, 그의 불굴의 서예정신은 한국서예사에서 독보적 존재로서 여전히 귀감으로 남는다.

제 1, 2회 학생 과학 공동탐구 토론대회의 종합적 평가 (Summative Evaluation of 1993, 1994 Discussion Contest of Scientific Investigation)

  • The first and the second "Discussion Contest of Scientific Investigation" was evaluated in this study. This contest was a part of 'Korean Youth Science Festival' held in 1993 and 1994. The evaluation was based on the data collected from the middle school students of final teams, their teachers, a large number of middle school students and college students who were audience of the final competition. Questionnaires, interviews, reports of final teams, and video tape of final competition were used to collect data. The study focussed on three research questions. The first was about the preparation and the research process of students of final teams. The second was about the format and the proceeding of the Contest. The third was whether participating the Contest was useful experience for the students and the teachers of the final teams. The first area, the preparation and the research process of students, were investigated in three aspects. One was the level of cooperation, participation, support and the role of teachers. The second was the information search and experiment, and the third was the report writing. The students of the final teams from both years, had positive opinion about the cooperation, students' active involvement, and support from family and school. Students considered their teachers to be a guide or a counsellor, showing their level of active participation. On the other hand, the interview of 1993 participants showed that there were times that teachers took strong leading role. Therefore one can conclude that students took active roles most of the time while the room for improvement still exists. To search the information they need during the period of the preparation, student visited various places such as libraries, bookstores, universities, and research institutes. Their search was not limited to reading the books, although the books were primary source of information. Students also learned how to organize the information they found and considered leaning of organizing skill useful and fun. Variety of experiments was an important part of preparation and students had positive opinion about it. Understanding related theory was considered most difficult and important, while designing and building proper equipments was considered difficult but not important. This reflects the students' school experience where the equipments were all set in advance and students were asked to confirm the theories presented in the previous class hours. About the reports recording the research process, students recognize the importance and the necessity of the report but had difficulty in writing it. Their reports showed tendency to list everything they did without clear connection to the problem to be solved. Most of the reports did not record the references and some of them confused report writing with story telling. Therefore most of them need training in writing the reports. It is also desirable to describe the process of student learning when theory or mathematics that are beyond the level of middle school curriculum were used because it is part of their investigation. The second area of evaluation was about the format and the proceeding of the Contest, the problems given to students, and the process of student discussion. The format of the Contests, which consisted of four parts, presentation, refutation, debate and review, received good evaluation from students because it made students think more and gave more difficult time but was meaningful and helped to remember longer time according to students. On the other hand, students said the time given to each part of the contest was too short. The problems given to students were short and open ended to stimulate students' imagination and to offer various possible routes to the solution. This type of problem was very unfamiliar and gave a lot of difficulty to students. Student had positive opinion about the research process they experienced but did not recognize the fact that such a process was possible because of the oneness of the task. The level of the problems was rated as too difficult by teachers and college students but as appropriate by the middle school students in audience and participating students. This suggests that it is possible for student to convert the problems to be challengeable and intellectually satisfactory appropriate for their level of understanding even when the problems were difficult for middle school students. During the process of student discussion, a few problems were observed. Some problems were related to the technics of the discussion, such as inappropriate behavior for the role he/she was taking, mismatching answers to the questions. Some problems were related to thinking. For example, students thinking was off balanced toward deductive reasoning, and reasoning based on experimental data was weak. The last area of evaluation was the effect of the Contest. It was measured through the change of the attitude toward science and science classes, and willingness to attend the next Contest. According to the result of the questionnaire, no meaningful change in attitude was observed. However, through the interview several students were observed to have significant positive change in attitude while no student with negative change was observed. Most of the students participated in Contest said they would participate again or recommend their friend to participate. Most of the teachers agreed that the Contest should continue and they would recommend their colleagues or students to participate. As described above, the "Discussion Contest of Scientific Investigation", which was developed and tried as a new science contest, had positive response from participating students and teachers, and the audience. Two among the list of results especially demonstrated that the goal of the Contest, "active and cooperative science learning experience", was reached. One is the fact that students recognized the experience of cooperation, discussion, information search, variety of experiments to be fun and valuable. The other is the fact that the students recognized the format of the contest consisting of presentation, refutation, discussion and review, required more thinking and was challenging, but was more meaningful. Despite a few problems such as, unfamiliarity with the technics of discussion, weakness in inductive and/or experiment based reasoning, and difficulty in report writing, The Contest demonstrated the possibility of new science learning environment and science contest by offering the chance to challenge open tasks by utilizing student science knowledge and ability to inquire and to discuss rationally and critically with other students.

산업체 단체급식소의 위생관리 실태조사 -마산, 창원지역을 중심으로- (A Study of Survey on the Sanitary Management of the Industry Group Food Service - ln Masan and Changweon Area)

  • The view of this research was to investigate the state of a sanitary management in the industrial area of Masan and Changweon cities through the nutritionists who works in the group food service facilities. The following results are as indicated . 1. The management types of group food service facilities are a direct management 89.7% , a consignned management 7.7% , an(1 a semimanagement 2.6% . 2. The survey for purulent inflammation and a possible disease of a cook is 59.0%. In the case of a wound of hand and foot and disease, the rate of non-worked people is 51.3% 3.4 regular medical examination of a cook was generally well executed, but only 64.1% were received an examination of the feces, and 88.0%, among them had one time per 6months. 4. Wearing a cap, a gown, and a private foot-wear in a kitchen of the cook was well executed, but nowhere was found to put on a mask 5. Only 11.5% of the group feeding facilities had a their own sterilizing lamp, and the company with a repository in a low temperature was 25.6% , 6.4 private toilet of the cook were estabilshed at rate of 38.5% , and also a private toilet providing with a sterilizing soap was 52.6% . 7. The pasteurization of a kitchen table before cooking was 28.2%, In the case of using a cooking dipper, spoon, tweezers when one taste was 83.3% , and using a hand when one dish up was 74.4 %. 8. When one use a raw egg, washing a shell was 35.9%. 9. The rate of a nutritionists writing a diary of the sanitary check-up was 75.6%, and only 23.1% of the facilities was provided with a preserved food. 14.1% of the nutritionists did a sanitary eaucation periodically.

온라인 한글인식을 위한 특징추출 신경망에 관한 연구 (Feature Extraction by Neural Network for On-line Recognition of Korean Characters)

  • 본 연구는 온라인 한글 필기체 인식을 위한 전처리 단계로서 다층구조 신경망을 이용하여 한글 자획의 특징을 추출하였다. 특징추출을 위한 신경망은 경쟁 자율학습하는 특성을 가진 Masking field 모델을 이용하여 구성하였다. 이 모델에 의해서 off영역이 없는 on영역만의 수용영역을 구성하여 한글 자획에 내포된 방향, 연결점 및 모서리 특징 추축을 병렬처리하였고, 이 모델의 수정에 의하여 방향유지특성을 구현하였다. 입력자획의 폭이 한 화소로 제한됨에 따라 입력 정보의 교란을 설정한 수용영역에 의하여 제거 할 수 있었다. 구성한 신경망은 순차적으로 입력되는 자획으로부터 동필특징을 추출하고, 이것을 집적하여 자획 특징을 추출한다. 한글자획의 특징추출 결과는 자획내의 방향특징들의 통계적 분포에 따르는 출력을 얻을 수 있었으며, 자획패턴이 고정되지 않은 온라인 한글 필기체의 자획인식에 유용하리라 생각된다.

21세기 기술과학적 곤경과 탈인간중심주의적 세계관의 요청: 루스 오제키의 『시간존재를 위한 이야기』 (The 21-century Techo-Scientific Predicaments and Its Call for Post-anthropocentric Worldviews: Luth Ozeki's A Tale for The Time Being)

  • Ruth Ozeki(Japanese-American female novelist)?s recent novel, A Tale for the Time Being (2013) draws our attention because the fiction shows very interesting fictional experiments, especially in terms of post-humanism. Indeed, the novel is not a science fiction at all which has been, and still is, the typical fictional field employed in the discussion for the transhumanism and posthumanism. It also does not include any cybogs, robots, or aliens which provoke the posthumanism-related issues like mind/body, human/nonhuman, nature/culture relations. Indeed, it seems "merely" represent realistic day-to-day lives of ordinary people living in contemporary Japan and Canada, and in very minute and particular details at that. Indeed, the central action of the main characters of the novel seems very traditional, that is on the one hand writing a diary by a teenage girl who is counting the days and weeks before her suicide and on the other hand reading it by a female novelist who happens to find her diary several years later. Nevertheless, I would like to suggest that underneath this traditional narrative surface are simmering post-humanist and post-anthropocentric worldviews beyond liberal Humanism which takes human beings to be exceptional against human or non-human others. Not only in narrative contents and characterizations but also through narrative structure and strategies, the novel enacts post-humanist and post-anthropocentric worldviews which are interestingly drawn from both age-old Buddhist ideas and modern eco-philosophy and quantum physics. I would like to stress that what triggers the author's fictional experiments helping our rethinking and redefining "what human beings are" and "what the relation between humans and nonhumans" is not merely intellectual interests but her keen and passionate response to the heart-breaking pains and sufferings of human and nonhuman beings caused by the contemporary natural-artificial catastrophes and techno-scientific predicaments.

Thalamic Deep Brain Stimulation for Writer's Cramp

  • Writer's cramp is a type of idiopathic focal hand dystonia characterized by muscle cramps that accompany execution of the writing task specifically. There has been renewed interest in neurosurgical procedures for the treatment of dystonia over the past several years. In particular, deep brain stimulation (DBS) has received increasing attention as a therapeutic option for patients with dystonia. However, to date, limited reporters made investigations into DBS in relation to the Writer's cramp. In this case, unilateral Ventro-oralis complex (Vo) DBS resulted in a major improvement in patient's focal dystonic movement disorders. Her post-operative Burke-Fahn-Marsden Dystonia Rating (BFMDR) scale demonstrated 1 compared with pre-operative BFMDR scale 4. We conclude that thalamic Vo complex DBS maybe an important neurosurgical therapeutic option for Writer's cramp.
