  • The design of router that converts IP packets from IPv4 network to IPv6 network using embedded Linux toolkit based on processor is presented. As an address transition platform, IPv6 module is transplanted to Linux using processor and the experiment was done with IPv4 and IPv6. In order to build the test network, it is constructed with Tunneling mechanism of IPv4 and IPv6 network. The packet value is obtained about 2$\mu$sec on average a 2 hops on the ICMP ping6.

  • Recently, research activities for combining portable computer technology and wireless communication technology are in progress to realize mobile computing environment that designed to support mobile hosts in the existing network environments. For PCN environments, the location management strategies are particularly emphasized among various strategies necessary for the mobile computing environment. Location management strategy for PCN environment, which is mostly based on the IS-41 standards brings an issue that additional network traffics are generated to deliver updata messages to home location server whenever a mobile host changes its location server. In this paper, we propose an innovative updata strategy and a search strategy that resolves the problem shown in the IS-41 scheme for HLR/VLR structure of CDMA environments. Also, this paper presents the performance comparison of proposed scheme and scheme used in IS-41 obtained from a simulation. The simulation was conducted based on the number of messages, the rate of database accesses, and the number of hops visited when the location management scheme is executed.

  • This paper proposes an insect behavior-inspired routing algorithm for large-scale wireless mesh networks. The proposed algorithm is adapted from the behavior of an insect called Bombyx mori, a male silkmoth. Its unique behavior is its flying technique to find the source of pheromones. The algorithm consists of two steps: the shortest-path algorithm and the zigzag-path algorithm. First, the shortest-path algorithm is employed to transmit data. After half of the total hops, the zigzag-path algorithm, which is based on the movement of the male B. mori, is applied. In order to adapt the biological behavior to large-scale wireless mesh networks, we use a mesh topology for implementing the algorithm. Simulation results show that the total energy used and the decision time for routing of the proposed algorithm are improved under certain conditions.

  • We present joint radio selection and relay scheme that delivers data from a source to a sink in heterogeneous stationary sensor networks consisting of various radio interfaces. The proposed scheme finds the optimal relay nodes and their corresponding radio interfaces that minimize energy consumption throughout the network while satisfying the end-to-end packet deadline requirement. We formulate the problem of routing through radio interface selection into binary integer programs, and obtain the optimal solution by solving with an optimization solver. We examine a trade-off relationship between energy consumption and packet delay based on network level simulations. We show that given the end-to-end deadline requirement, our routing algorithm finds the most energy-efficient routing path and radio interface across mesh hops. We demonstrate that the proposed routing scheme exploits the given packet delivery time to turn into network benefit of reducing energy consumption compared to routing based on single radio interface.

  • The genus Pseudoperonospora (Peronosporales, Oomycota) comprises six accepted species, including Ps. cubensis, which causes downy mildew on many economically important cucurbitaceous crops, and Ps. humuli, which occurs on hops. During a survey of downy mildew flora in Korea, a previously unreported species of Pseudoperonospora was found on Urtica angustifolia. Based on molecular phylogenetic and morphological analyses, the causal agent was identified as Pseudoperonospora urticae. This is the first report of Pseudoperonospora urticae occurring on Urtica angustifolia in Korea.

  • Tree-based routing Ethernet (TRE) is a recent Ethernet architecture that enables shortcut links to improve performance compared to spanning tree protocols. However, TRE can only use shortcuts that arrive directly at bridges located in the branch of the destination. TRE+ extends the topology knowledge of a bridge to 2 hops away, thus unveiling new shortcuts to the destination branch. Simulations show a major performance improvement of TRE+ compared to TRE, with results close to shortest paths in some topologies.

  • We introduce a pattern generation method for a hopping one-legged robot and verify it experimentally. The pattern is derived from the liner and angular momentum of a COM (Center of Mass), which are pre-scheduled. Because of the relation between angular velocities of joints and momemtums of the COM, joint angle trajectories are easily obtained. In addition, the landing impact force is reduced by only adjusting the landing timing. In the experiment, the one-legged robot hops in place with 0.06 s of flying time, and makes continuous hopping. Based on our experimental results, the proposed method can be applied to hopping and running of biped humanoid robots.

  • We study the problem of designing at minimum cost a two-connected network topology such that the shortest cycle to which each edge belongs does not exceed a given maximum number of hops. This problem is considered as part of network planning and arises in the design of backbone networks. We propose a genetic algorithm approach that uses a solution representation, in which the connectivity and ring constraints can be easily encoded. We also propose a crossover operator that ensures a generated solution is feasible. By doing so, the checking of constraints is avoided and no repair mechanism is required. We carry out experimental evaluations to investigate the solution representation issues and GA operators for the network design problem.

  • In this paper, the bit error rate (BER) performance of the fast frequency hopping/M-ary frequency shift keying system using the clipper receiver is analyzed by using the characteristic function (CF) technique in the presence of n=1 band multitone jamming and additive white Gaussian noise environment. The CFs of the clipper receiver outputs are derived as a infinite series representation using Gamma function and Marcum's Q -function. The analytical results are validated with various simulation results. Performance comparisons with linear combining receiver are shown that the BER performance of the clipper receiver is much better than that of the linear combining receiver In addition, as the clipping level approaches to infinity, it is shown that the clipper receiver simply performs a linear combining without clipping and there exists an optimum value of diversity level (the number of hops per symbol) that maximizes the worst case BER performance of the clipper receiver.

  • In this paper, the performance for FH/CPFSK system with limiter-discriminator detection and integrage-and-dump post-detection filtering under thermal noie, partial-band noise jamming and rayleigh fading have been analyzed. The method of hard-decision diversity of which the transmitter repeated L times on different hops for each data symbol in a way to mutigate the effects of the jamming has been applied, and the receiver has been combined the L chips. Also, error-correcting code have been applied for improving performance of system. The thermal noise and partial-band noise jamming, intersymbol interference for all eight of the possible adjacent bit data patterns, and FM noise click for evaluating systems have been considered. Also optimum parameters to improve performance of FH/CPFSK system have been obtained and validities have been proved through computer simulation.
