The Ir(PPh$_3)_2\;(CO)OClO_3\;and\;Ir(PPh_3)_3N_2Cl$ Mediated Activation of Aldehyde C-H Bonds via Chelate-Assisted Oxidative Addition

  • Hydrocarbon solution of $Ir(PPh_3)_2(CO)OClO_3$ reacts with $Ph_2PC_6H_4$-o-CHO and 3-methyl-2-aminopyridinyl aldimine to yield ${\bar{Ir(Ph_2PC_6H_4-o-CO)}}\;(PPh_3)_2(CO)(H)ClO_4$(1) and ${\bar{Ir(NC_6H_6NC}}C_6H_5)(PPh_3)_2(CO)(H)ClO_4$(2), respectively. The compound $Ir(PPh_3)_2N_2Cl$ also reacts with $Ph_2PC_6H_4$-o-CHO and 3-methyl-2-aminopyridinyl aldimine to give ${\bar{Ir(Ph_2PC_6H_4-o-C}}O)(PPh_3)_2(H)Cl(3)$ and $Ir(NC_6H_5NCC_6H_5(PPh_3)_2(H)Cl(4)$, respectively. Compounds 1, 2, 3, and 4 were characterized by infrared, $^1H$ NMR, $^{31}p$ NMR, UV spectra, and conductivity measurements.

  • A nontoxic organic photoreceptor for near infrared light has been developed. A double layered photoreceptor using $\tau$-H$_2$Pc as the CGL was made. The CTL was formed by oxadiazole derivative dispersed in two other host polymers. This photoreceptor has a charge acceptance of -900 V when a corona charge is used, and has residual potentials of -20 V for PC, and -10 V for PVB by light irradiation.

Antioxidant Activity of Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch Extracts on Hydrogen Peroxide-induced DNA Damage in Human Leucocytes and Cell Death in PC12 Cells

  • In this study, antioxidant activity of methanol extract of Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch (GUE) against $H_2O_2$-induced DNA damage in human leucocytcs and cell death in PC12 cells was determined. The effect of GUE on $H_2O_2$-induced DNA damage in human leucocytcs was evaluated by the comet assay, where GUE ($1-50\;{\mu}g/mL$) was a dose dependent inhibitor of DNA damage induced by $H_2O_2$. The protective effect of GUE against $H_2O_2$-induced damage on PC12 cells was investigated by MTT reduction assay and lactate dehydrogenase release assay. A marked reduction in cell survival induced by $H_2O_2$ was significantly prevented by $1-50\;{\mu}g/mL$ of GUE. The enzyme activity of caspase-3 was elevated in $H_2O_2$-treated PC12 cells, while preincubation with GUE for 30 min inhibited $H_2O_2$-induced caspase-3 activation in a dose-dependent manner. In conclusion, GUE ameliorates $H_2O_2$-induced DNA damage in human leucocytes and has neuroprotective effect by preventing cell death in PC12 cell, suggesting that GU may be a potential candidate for novel therapeutic agents for neuronal diseases associated with oxidative stress.

Penicillium chrysogenum에서 추출한 cellulase에 관한 연구 (Studies on Cellulases of Penicillium chrysogenum)

  • Pemicillum chrysogenum의 건전균(PC)과 바이러스감염균(PCV)을 사용하여 cellulase의 존재여부와 그 활성 정도를 알아보기 위해 밀기울에 배양하여 효소액으로 만들어 균의 생장에 따른 배양액의 최적 pH와 최적 배양일 및 Na-CMC 기질액을 이용하여 효소액의 활성에 미치는 최적 pH, 온도, 및 효소농도를 알아보고자 본 실험에 착수하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었기에 이에 보고하는 바이다. 1) PC외 PCV균의 생장에 따른 배양액의 최적 pH는 균주 접종전 배지와 작은 pH6.4로 나타났다. 2) 최적 배양일은 최적 pH를 나타낸 배양6일이 가장 높은 활성을 나타냈고, PCV는 PC의 50%의 활성이었다. 3) PC균 배양 효소액이 기질과 반응시 효소활성이 가장 높은 최적 pH는 pH5.0으로 나타났고, PCV 균 배양 효소액에서는 pH 6.0으로 나타났다. 4) PC와 PCV균 배양효소액 모두 기질과 반응시 효소 활성이 가장 높은 최적 온도는 $50^{\circ}C$로나타났다. 이상의 결과에서 cellulase의 활성도는 PC건전균이 PCV감입균보다 높은 활성을 나타낸 것을 알 수 있었다.

Synthesis and Characterization of Palladium and Platinum Complexes of N,N'-Bis[2'-(diphenylphosphino)phenyl]propane-1,3-diamine. Single-Crystal Structures of $[Pd(Ph_2PC_6H_4NC_3H_6NC_6H_4PPh_2)]$ and $[Pt(Ph_2PC_6H_4NH)(SEt_2)Cl]$

  • Novel mononuclear metal complexes with the formula $[M(Ph_2PC_6H_4NC_3H_6NC_6H_4PPh_2)]$ (M=Pd (1); M=Pt (2)) were obtained when N,N'-bis[2'-(diphenylphosphino)phenyl]propane-1,3-diamine, I was mixed with cisdichlorobis(diethylsulfide)palladium and platinum in the presence of NEt3. Two mononuclear metal compounds with the fomula [M(Ph2PC6H4NH)(SEt2)Cl] (M=Pd (3); M=Pt (4)) were synthesized from $M(SEt_2)2Cl_2$ and N-(2'-diphenylphosphinophenyl)-4-amino-1,1,1,5,5, 5-hexafluoro-3-penten-2-one, II by the elimination reaction of hexafluoro pentenone. The X-ray single crystal structures of 1 and 4 are described. X-ray single crystal diffraction analyses reveal that compound 1 is a mononuclear palladium compound with P,N,N,P-coordination mode and 4 is a mononuclear platinum compound with P,N-coordination mode.

수정진동자를 이용한 프탈로시아닌 LB박막의 $NO_2$ 감지 특성 (The Application of Octa-Substituted Metallophthalocyanine Langmuir-Blodgett films for $NO_2$ Measurement)

  • 수정진동자(QCM)위에 네 종류의 프탈로시아닌($MPc(OEH)_8$, M ${\equiv}$ Cu, Co, Sn, $H_2$) LB박막을 여러 층 적층시킨 후 순수한 질소 분위기 하에서 $NO_2$에 노출시켜 그 농도를 정량화 하였다. 사용한 네 종류의 프탈로시아닌 중에서 중심위치에 금속 이온이 자리하지 않은 $H_2Pc(OEH)_8$ 감응막이 $NO_2$에 대하여 가장 민감한 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 이 박막은 $NO_2$에 노출된 후 질소로 퍼지해도 처음의 주파수를 회복하지 못하는 비가역적인 흡착 양상을 보였다. NMR과 FTIR 스펙트럼 조사 결과 비가역적인 흡착은 빙고링과 프탈로시아닌 곁가지의 결합부위인 ether 그룹에서 일어나는 것으로 판명되었다. 따라서 비가역적으로 흡착이 일어나는 부분을 미리 고농도에서 포화시키는 방법으로 박막을 전처리 한 후 반복실험에 사용하였다. $CuPc(OEH)_8$박막 사용 시 수십 ppm 수준부터 4 ppm의 $NO_2$ 농도까지 정량화가 가능하였고 $H_2Pc(OEH)_8$ 박막의 경우에는 수 ppm부터 35 ppb까지의 낮은 농도까지 정량화가 가능하였다. 또한, 실제 대기 조건을 모사하기 위하여 운반기체를 순수한 질소 대신 공기로 교체하여 $H_2Pc(OEH)_8$ 감응막의 성능을 실험한 결과 산소의 영향으로 센싱 가능 한계가 수백 ppb 수준으로 증가하였다. 습기가 운반기체에 포함된 경우 감지 성능에 매우 큰 영향을 미쳤다.

PC12 세포에서 신경전달물질 방출을 저해하는 생리활성물질 FS11052의 탐색 (Screening of active substance FS11052 as an inhibitor of neurotransmitter release from PC12 cells)

  • We established an in vitro experimental system using the following procedure. We first introduced tritium-labeled norepinephrine ([$^3$H]-NE) into PC12 cells, The [$^3$H]-NE incorporated into PC12 cells were then stimulated by a high concentration (60 mM) of $K^+$ buffer during 12 minutes. Then, we collected $100{\mu}l$ supernatant and counted the amount of [$^3$H]-NE release from PC12 cells with a scintillation counter. After screening fungal, Streptomyces spp. or bacterial product using this experimental sytem, we obtained FS11052 from Streptomyces spp. which inhibited [$^3$H]-NE release from PC12 cells. FS11052 also inhibits the release of ATP as a neurotransmitter of PC12 cells and rat cortical neurons, The inhibitory effect was seen even when the PC12 cells were treated with low $K^-$ buffer containing ionomycin ($1{\mu}M$) as an ionopore. This result suggests that the inhibitory action of FS11052 on neurotransmitter release appeared after the influx of $Ca^{2+}$.

Impact of Cooking pH Values on the Textural and Chemical Properties for Processed Cheeses with/without the Use of Traditional Village Cheese during Storage

  • Processed cheeses (PCs) were made under varying cooking pH values (5.3, 5.4, 5.5, and 5.6) using a processed cheese cooker. Along with emulsifying salts (2.5%), distilled water, NaCl (2%) and a colouring agent under these cooking pH values, the PC samples made with either 100% fresh curd and rennet casein coded processed cheese control ($PC_C$) as control or ~70% fresh curd-~30% traditional village cheese coded processed cheese with village cheese ($PC_V$). The main aim of this study was to determine the effect of the varying cooking pH values on the textural properties for the PCv samples compared with the control sample during 90 days of storage. Chemical and textural properties of all PC samples were investigated over time. The chemical compositions of the PC samples (dry matter and ash) increased at d 90 of storage significantly, due to 1-d ripening of all PC samples at ambient temperature in terms of the manufacturing protocol of the cheese. The textural properties of the PC samples were altered by the varying cooking pH values. It may propose that the interactions of the proteins at the cooking pH values during processing and biochemical mechanisms in the cheese systems could likely affect the texture of the PC samples over time. Hardness, gumminess and chewiness values of all PC samples also increased over time (p<0.05). This study is also to give some knowledge on the design of PC manufacture to cheese makers, and a marketing opportunity to local cheese makers who individually make a traditional village cheese in Turkey.

플라즈마 중합법에 의한 유기 감광체 박막의 제조와 광전도 특성 (Preparation and Photo Conducting Characteristics of Plasma Polymerized Organic Photorecepter)

  • 플라즈마 중합법과 dip-coating법에 의해 이층형 유기 감광체를 제조하였다. 알루미늄 기판위에 장벽 층으로 Al₂O₃막을 만들었고, 전하 생성층으로 H₂ phthalocyanine(H₂Pc)를, 전하 수송층으로는 Poly 9-Vinylcarbazole을 채택하여 CGL/CTL의 이층 구조가 되도록 하였다. 플라즈마 중합법과 진공 증착법에 의해 각각 H₂ phthalocyanine 박막을 제조하여 흡광 특성을 검토한 결과 진공 증착막의 경우 613.6[nm]와 694.8[㎚]에서 흡수 피크가 관찰되었으나 플라즈마 중합막에서는 600-700[㎚]사이에서 완만한 피크가 관찰되었다. PVCz막의 표면전위는 인가한 코로나 방전 전압과 PVCz의 두께가 증가함에 따라 증가하였고, 암 감 쇠 특성과 광 감쇠 시간 그리고 잔류 시간도 PVCz의 두께의 증가와 함께 증가하였다. 15[㎛] 두께의 PVCz의 표면 전하량을 계산한 결과, 인가 전위 -600[V]에서 134[nc/㎠]이었으며 H₂Pc의 전하 생성 효율은 0.034이었다.

Rheological, Morphological and Electrical Properties of Polycarbonate/Multi-walled Carbon Nanotube Composites

  • Rheological and electrical properties of the polycarbonate (PC) / multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWNT) were studied. The MWNT was funtoinalized by treating with the hydrogen peroxide ($H_{2}O_{2}$). The electrical conductivity showed higher value for the PC/MWNT ($H_{2}O_{2}$ treated, freeze drying) composites compared that of the PC/MWNT ($H_{2}O_{2}$ treated, thermal drying) composites. From the results of the morphological, rheological, and electrical properties of the PC/MWNT composites, it is suggested that the electrical and rheological properties of the PC/MWNT composites are affected by the MWNT-MWNT network structure which is related with the MWNT morphologies such as the degree of aggregation and aspect ratio of the MWNT.
