Effects of Low Level Water-soluble Pentosans, Alkaline-extractable Pentosans, and Xylanase on the Growth and Development of Broiler Chicks

  • This study investigated the effects of low levels of water-soluble pentosans (WSP), alkaline-extractable pentosans (AEP), and xylanase on the growth and organ development of broiler chicks. Three hundred and fifty 1-d-old female broiler chicks were randomly allocated into seven experimental groups of five pen replicates, with ten chicks per replicate. The control group consumed a corn-soybean meal-based diet. Six dietary treatment groups consumed the basal diet supplemented with one of the following: WSP at 50 mg/kg (WSP50) or 100 mg/kg (WSP100); AEP at 50 mg/kg (AEP50) or 100 mg/kg (AEP100); or xylanase at 3 mg/kg (Xase3) or 6 mg/kg (Xase6). Data including the body weight, digestive organ weights, gut length, rectal digesta viscosity, and gut microflora and pH were collected on d 5, 10, and 15. When compared to the control group, WSP50 promoted body weight gain and organ growth throughout the study, calculated as 3-d averages (p<0.05). WSP100 increased weight gain and enhanced organ development (proventriculus, gizzard, and gut) on d 10 (p<0.05), but the 3-d averages were not different from the control group except for the weight of gizzard. Both Xase3 and Xase6 increased the 3-d average weight gain and the growth of the gizzard (p<0.05). WSP50 increased the digesta viscosity compared to Xase3 on d 10 and 15 (p<0.05). WSP50, Xase3, and Xase6 increased the concentration of Lactobacillus in the rectum when compared to the control group (p<0.05), but only Xase3 lowered the digesta pH in the ileum and cecum on d 10 and 15. AEP had minimal influence on the growth and organ development of broilers. The results showed that low levels of WSP, AEP, and xylanase had different effects and underlying mechanisms on the growth and organ development of broiler chicks. WSP50 could increase the growth performance of broilers fed a corn-soybean meal-based diet.

  • Fe-5.7%AI-1.1%Cr-0.5%Si damping alloys containing 0%C and 0.12%C were heat-treated at $800^{\circ}C$ for an hour and then cooled by using some different methods. The damping behaviors of these alloys were observed by optical microscopy, X-ray diffraction and a specific damping capacity(SDC) test. Effect of cooling method on microstructures and the internal stresses of these alloys were negligible while the damping capacity of these alloys was considerably deteriorated by water quenching. The (200) texture was mainly developed by water quenching while the (110) texture by furnace cooling. These results were interpreted by the magnetization behaviors of the ferromagnetic $\alpha$ ferrite. The easy axis of magnetization in <100> direction means that <100> axis has more $180^{\circ}$ magnetic domain walls than $90^{\circ}$ ones. Thus. $180^{\circ}$ magnetic domain walls were more formed by water quenching, which deteriorated the damping capacity of these alloys. Consequently, the amount of magnetic domain walls giving good damping capacity became less so that the damping capacity was poor in water quenching.

  • Co-22%Cr alloy films are promising for high-density perpendicular magnetic recording media with their perpendicular anisotropy and large coercivity of 3000 Oe. We observed that a self organized nano structure(SONS) of fine ferromagnetic Co-enriched phase and paramagnetic Cr-enriched phase appears inside the grain of Co-Cr magnetic alloy thin films at the elevated substrate temperature after do-sputtering. We prepared 1000 $\AA$-thick Co-22%Cr films on 2000 $\AA$- SiO$_2$/Si(100) substrates at the deposition rate of 100 $\AA$/min with substrate temperatures of 3$0^{\circ}C$, 10$0^{\circ}C$, 15$0^{\circ}C$, 20$0^{\circ}C$, 30$0^{\circ}C$, and 40$0^{\circ}C$, respectively. We employed a vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM) to measure the B-H loops showing the saturation magnetifation, coercivity, remanence in in- plane and out- of- plane modes. In- plane coercivity, perpendicular coercivity, and perpendicular remanence increased as substrate temperature increased, how-ever they decreased after 30$0^{\circ}C$ slowly. Transmission electron microscope (TEM) characterization revealed that the self organized nano structure (SONS) appears at the elevated substrate temperature, which forms fine Co-enriched phases inside a grain, then it eventually affect the perpendicular magnetic property. Our results imply that we may tune the perpendicular magnetic properties with SONS obtained at appropriate substrate temperature.

Construction of a PEALD System and Fabrication of Cobalt Thin Films (PEALD 장치 제작 및 Co박막 증착)

  • A plasma enhanced atomic layer deposition(PEALD) system has been constructed adopting an inductively coupled plasma(ICP) source with an ALD system, and its plasma generation was carried out. Cobalt thin films were deposited on a p-type Si(100) wafer at $230^{\circ}C$. $Co_{2}(CO)_{6}$ was used as a cobalt precursor, $NH_{3}$ as a reactant, and Ar as a carrier and purge gas. The properties of the thin films were investigated using field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM) and auger electron spectroscopy(AES). Large amounts of impurities were found in both the ALD film and the PEALD film, however, the amount of impurities in the PEALD film was reduced to about 50 % compared to that in the ALD film. It was found that $NH_{3}$ plasma, very effectively, induces the reaction with carbon in a cobalt precursor.

  • $(TiO_{2})$ thin films were deposited on p-Si(100) substrate by APMOCVD using titanium isopropoxide as a source material. The deposition mechanism was well explained by the simple boundary layer theory and the apparent activation energy of the chemical reaction controlled process was 18.2kcal /mol. The asdeposited films were polycrystalline anatase phase and were transformed into rutile phase after postannealing. The postannealing time and the film thikness as well as the postannealing temperature also affected the phase transition. The C-V plot exhibited typical charateristics of MOS diode, from which the dielectric constant of about 80 was obtained. The capacitance of the annealed film was decreased but those of the Nb or Sr doped films were not changed. I-V characteristics revealed that the conduction mechanism was hopping conduction. The postannealing and the doping of Nb or Sr cause to decrease the leakage current and to increase the breakdown voltage.

Study on diffusion barrier properties of Tantalum films deposited by substrate bias voltage (Ta 확산 방지막 특성에 미치는 기판 바이어스에 관한 연구)

  • Ta diffusion barriers have been deposited on Si (100) substrate by applying a negative substrate bias voltage. The effect of the substrate bias voltage on the properties of the Ta films was investigated. In the case of the Ta films deposited without the substrate bias voltage, a columnar structure and small grains were observed distinctly, and the electrical resistivity of the deposited Ta films was very high (250 $\mu\Omega$cm). By applying the substrate bias voltage, no clear columnar structure and grain boundary were observed. The resistivity of the Ta films decreased remarkably and at a bias voltage of -125 V, reaching a minimum value of 40 $\mu\Omega$cm, which is close to that of Ta bulk (13 $\mu\Omega$cm). The thermal stability of Cu(100 mm)/Ta(50 mm)/Si structures was evaluated after annealing in H2 atmosphere for 60 min at various temperatures. The Ta films deposited by applying the substrate bias voltage were found to be stable up to $600^{\circ}C$, while the Ta films deposited without the substrate bias voltage degraded at $400^{\circ}C$.

Crystal Structure of Dehydrated $Rb^{+}$-Exchanged Zeolite X, $Rb_{71}Na_{21}Si_{100}Al_{92}O_{384}$

  • The crystal structure of dehydrated $Rb^+$-exchanged zeolite X, stoichiometry $Rb_{71}Na_{21}-X\; (Rb_{71}Na_{21}Si_{100}Al_{92}O_{384})$ per unit cell, has been determined from single-crystal X-ray diffraction date gathered by counter methods. The structure was solved and refined in the cubic space group Fd3, a=25.007(3) Å at 21(1) ℃. The crystal was prepared by ion exchange in a flowing stream using a 0.05 M aqueous RbOH solution (pH=12.7). The crystal was then dehydrated at 360 ℃ and $2{\times}10^{-6}$ torr for two days. The structure was refined to the final error indices, $R_1=0.047$ and $R_2=0.040$ with 239 reflections for which I> 3σ(I). In this structure, 71 $Rb^+$ ions per unit cell are found at six different crystallographic sites and 21 $Na^+$ ions per unit cell are found at two different crystallographic sites. Four and a half $Rb^+$ ions are located at site Ⅰ, the center of the hexagonal prism. Nine $Rb^+$ ions are found at site Ⅰ' in the sodalite cavity (Rb-O=2.910(15) Å and O-Rb-O=78.1(4)°). Eighteen $Rb^+$ ions are found at site Ⅱ in the supercage (Rb-O=2.789(9) Å and O-Rb-O=92.1(4)°). Two and a half $Rb^+$ ions, which lie at site Ⅱ', are recessed ca. 2.07 Å into the sodalite cavity from their three O(2) oxygen planes (Rb-O=3.105(37) Å and O-Rb-O=80.6(5)°). Thirty-two $Rb^+$ ions are found at site Ⅲ deep in the supercage (Rb-O=2.918(12) Å and O-Rb-O=71.9(4)°), and five $Rb^+$ ions are found at site Ⅲ'. Seven $Na^+$ ions also lie at site Ⅰ. Fourteen $Na^+$ ions are found at site Ⅱ in the supercage (Na-O=2.350(19) Å and O-Na-O=117.5(6)°).

Effects of <10-㎛ Particulate Matter on Cultured Human Sebocytes and Outer Root Sheath Cells and Usefulness of Siegesbeckia Herba Extract

  • Background Particulate matter (PM) is one of the air pollutants that can damage human skin; the recent increase in the amount of PM may be detrimental to skin health. Objective We aimed to investigate the effects of PM on cultured human sebocytes and outer root sheath (ORS) cells and the effects of Siegesbeckia Herba extract (SHE) on PM-treated cultured cells. Methods Sebocytes and ORS cells were cultured. The cultured cells were treated with various concentrations of PM of <10 ㎛ in size (PM10) (10 ㎍/ml, 25 ㎍/ml, 50 ㎍/ml, and 100 ㎍/ml) for 24 h. Real-time polymerase chain reaction, measurement of reactive oxygen species (ROS), small interfering (si) RNA transfection, Oil Red O and Nile red staining, and immunofluorescence staining were performed to analyze the presence of inflammatory cytokines, matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR), nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells (NF-κB), ROS, and lipid production. In addition, PM10 (100 ㎍/ml)-treated cultured cells were treated with 10 mg/ml of SHE. Results PM10 upregulates the expression of inflammatory cytokines, MMPs, AhR, NF-κB, and ROS in cultured human sebocytes and ORS cells. The production of ROS was dramatically reduced in AhR siRNA-transfected cells. In addition, PM10 upregulates sebum production in cultured sebocytes. SHE inhibited the upregulation of inflammatory cytokines, MMPs, AhR, NF-κB, ROS, and sebum production in cultured human sebocytes and/or ORS cells by PM10. Conclusion Effects of PM10 on cultured human sebocytes and ORS cells can be regulated by SH.

Development of Preheat-free 800 MPa GMA Welding Consumable (800MPa급 무예열 GMA 용접재료 개발)

  • 고강도강의 용접성은 저온균열 저항성으로 대변되는데, TMCP강과 HSLA강 등이 개발되면서 고강도강의 저온균열저항성이 크게 향상되어 무예열 용접성이 확보되었다. 그러나 용접재료 측면에서는 그에 상응하는 재료의 개발이 지연되어 용착금속부에서의 저온균열이 심각한 문제로 대두되고 있는 실정이다. 이러한 문제는 800 MPa급인 HY-100강재를 HSLA-100강으로 대체하는 과정에서 현실적인 문제로 제기 되었다. 즉 HSLA강은 용접 예열이 필요치 않았으나 기존의 용접재료, 즉 HY-100 강재에 사용하던 용접재료를 사용하게 되면 용착금속부에서 저온균열이 발생하여 용접예열을 생략할 수 없다는 판단에 이르게 되었던 것이다. 이에 본 연구의 목적은 HSLA-100강을 무예열 용접할 수 있는 GMA 용접와이어 개발하는 것이며, 구체적인 개발 목표는 무예열 용접조건에서 800 MPa 이상의 인장강도를 가지며 $-50^{\circ}C$에서의 충격인성이 50 J 이상인 GMA 용접와이어 개발하는 것이다. 이러한 용접재료를 합금설계함에 있어 무예열 용접성을 확보하기 위하여 용접재료의 탄소함량을 0.01% 수준으로 하고, 용착금속의 인장강도와 저온 충격치에 미치는 Mn과 Mo 함량의 영향을 검토하고 각각의 조성을 실험계획법으로 확정하였다. 그리고 확산성수소량에 따른 저온균열 발생 여부를 확인하여 무예열용접성을 확보하기 위해서는 확산성수소량이 3ml/100g 이하가 되어야 한다는 사실을 실험적으로 확인하였다. 그리고 이를 달성하기 위해서는 원자재인 와이어로드의 표면 품질이 중요하다는 사실도 확인할 수 있었다. 다음으로는 실험계획법에 의거하여 선정된 합금조성의 신뢰성을 검증하기 위하여 800kg 중량의 시제품을 생산하였으며, 생산된 시제품에 대해서는 실험계획법에서 사용한 Ar+5%CO2외에도 Ar+20%CO2를 적용하여 보호가스의 영향을 검토하였다. 검토 과정에서 Ar+20%CO2용으로 사용하기 위해서는 용접재료의 Si 및 Mn 함량이 상향조정되어야 함을 확인할 수 있었다. 그리고 탄소함량을 0.05% 수준으로 증가시키면 Mo 함량을 크게 저하시킬 수 있음도 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 과정을 거쳐 개발된 GMA 용접재료는 무예열 용접조건에서 저온균열이 발생하지 않았으며, 인장강도는 830 MPa이었으며 $-50^{\circ}C$에서의 충격치는 90 J 이상이었다.

Changes of Tomato Growth and Soil Chemical Properties as Affected by Soil pH and Nitrogen Fertilizers (토양 pH와 질소 관비 비종에 따른 토마토 생육 및 토양화학성 변화)

  • This study was conducted to determine effects of soil pH and form of nitrogen fertilizers on tomato growth and chemical properties of greenhouse soil using ferigation system. Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill. cv. Superdoterang) were grown for three months in 18 L pots filled with two soil (pH 6.8 and pH 8.7). 4 different nitrogen fertilizers (urea, ammonium nitrate, ammonium sulfate, and potassium nitrate) were fertigated with different concentrations of 0, 10, 50, and 100 mg N/L during tomato cultivation. Soil pH 8.7 decreased yield and chlorophyll fluorescence compared with soil pH 6.8. Yield at soil pH 8.7 increased by ammonium nitrate and ammonium sulfate fertigation. Soil pH 6.8 induced increment of yield by nitrogen concentration than form of nitrogen fertilizers. Soil pH after cultivation of tomato decreased by application of ammonium nitrate and ammonium sulfate. Soil EC by 100 mg N/L application of ammonium sulfate was twice as much as other fertilizers. Form of nitrogen fertilizer had less effect on concentration of soil $NH_4^+$-N and $NO_3^-$-N in soil but the concentrations slightly reduced at pH 8.7. These results indicate that application of urea and ammonium nitrate for a nitrogen source of fertigation has little affects on soil chemical properties before and after tomato cultivation.
