A Study on the Effect that Leisure Programs on Depression and Self-esteem in Elderly Women in Rural Areas (여가활동프로그램이 농촌여성노인의 우울과 자아존중감에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of leisure programs over 8 weeks on elderly women 60 and over who lived in a rural area. Did the program affect feelings of depression and self-esteem? Method: The leisure programs in this study included rhythm gymnastics for elderly women, recreation, balloon art, paper folding, viewing movies, shuttle cock game, exhibition and evaluation activity. As a Quasi-Experimental study, the design of this study was a Nonequivalent Control Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Results: It was shown that leisure programs for elderly women for 8 weeks, consisting of rhythm gymnastics, self-introduction, hobby activities and recreation can reduce depression and enhance the feeling of self-esteem in elderly women in the rural area. Conclusion: It is concluded that public health centers in rural areas should conduct leisure programs during the farmers' slack season, and that the community halls for elders can contribute to improving the life quality of elderly women by being more affirmative and positive if they develop as healthy and active cultural centers where elderly women will want to come and participate.

The Effects of Kinematic Variables and Sequence during Horizontal Bar Swing in Gymnastic: a Case Study (체조 철봉 동작 시 운동학적 요인 및 신체 순차적인 움직임이 기술 성패에 미치는 영향)

  • Objective: The horizontal bar of gymnastics is fundamentally based on rotational movements. This study aimed to determine the effect of kinematics variables and sequence during horizontal bar performance (Kovacs, Tkatchev Stretched & Kolman) in gymnastic. Method: Four gymnastics athletes of the national team were participated in this study. All subjects were asked to perform the three types of horizontal bar skill. Simi marker-less cameras were used to collect the raw data (120 Hz). Kinematic variables (total time, interval, center of mass, height, angular velocity etc.) and sequence variables were calculated to examine the differences. Results: As a result, horizontal bar performance in gymnastic has special sequence that making the peak angular velocity from distal joint to proximal joint (knee-hip-shoulder). It is rare sequence that typical sport does not have. Conclusion: In field, gymnastic coaches and players should know the result that there is special sequence in horizontal bar performance. It could be very useful to teach and enhance their performance.

  • The study has a goal that produces abundant documents that needed for athletes to teach and progress skills by analyzing 3-dimensional action analysis of C-difficulties Ring jump included in body original elements among techniques constructing Rhythmic Sport Gymnastics. 1. It was the longest applied time delay that E-3 indicates 0.409${\pm}$0.017sec in each event applied time delay. 2. It was the tallest height that E-3 indicates 88.5${\pm}$1.3% in displacement of body's center. 3. It was the fastest velocity in E-2 where the velocity of left foot is 732.4${\pm}$46.1cm/sec, the velocity of right foot is 1958.4${\pm}$25.1cm/sec. 4. the lowest angle was founded at 97.8 degree in the E-3 on the trunk extension angle. 5. The lowest angle of both sides were seen at 92.8${\pm}$14.9degree and 69.2${\pm}$5.7degree in the E-3 on the each displacement of knee joint. 6. The highest angle of both sides were seen at 171.3${\pm}$6.9degree and 167.9${\pm}$8.4degree in the E-3 on the each displacement of ankle joint As a result of these studies, by jumping with ankle joint extension to accomplish the Ring jump action, it is considered to have the time of flexiblity and staying in the air which we can see in a back.

Exploring the Selective Properties of buyer of Taekwon gymnastics for competition (대회용 태권체조 구매자의 선택속성 탐색)

  • The purpose of this research is to explore the selection attributes that the director of a taekwondo gym places importance on when purchasing a work of taekwon gymnastics for the competition. We conducted in-depth interviews with 6 participants using qualitative case study techniques, and analyzed data using Creswell's (2015) spiral analysis method. The data analysis results show music, trainees, characteristics of the work, criteria for evaluating the competition, producer competence, and price factors. As a result of the research, music should be produced around diverse and differentiated genres and music preferred by the trainees, and the appropriate theme should be selected considering the expressiveness and level of the trainees. The work should be considered creative works that harmonize the movement ratio of Taekwondo movements and dance, and the length of the work should be adjusted according to the purpose of the buyer, and the construction of the work should be based on the regulations of the competition. The manufacturer should ensure smooth communication with the buyer, including coaching ability and experience at the convention site. Prices will be affordable and affordable, and prices will need to be calculated based on special prices or mentoring periods for a small number of buyers.

Visualization System for Player's Sequential Forms at Sports Broadcasting

  • We developed a visualization system for sports broadcasting that informs TV viewers of a sports player's sequential performing forms and locus in detail when gymnastic game such as‘vault’is broadcasted. It records the corresponding frames while a player is performing, extracts only the player's performing forms from background scenes by a proposed algorithm, superposes them sequentially on a background scene, and broadcasts them with slow speed. This system named as‘Multi-Motion’has ever been used in NHK live broadcasting for 1995 World Gymnastics Championships held in Japan.

Correlation between Balance Ability, Muscle Strength, and Muscle Endurance, in Taekwondo, Soccer, and Gymnastics Athletes (태권도, 축구, 체조 선수들의 균형능력과 근력, 근지구력의 상관분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate a relationship among Taekwondo, soccer and gymnastic athletes their balance ability and lower extremity muscle strength, muscle endurance and also whether these variables show differences by sports type. For this purpose, 10 Taekwondo athletes, 10 soccer athletes and 10 gymnastic athletes that is a high school in I area were selected and their balance ability, isokinetic muscle strength and muscle endurance were measured by using force platform (AMTI) and isokinetic measurement (HUMAC NORM). Then the following results were obtained by conducting pearson product-moment correlation analysis and one-way ANOVA. In case of both right and left foot one-leg standing with open-eyes, there was a relation between both knee extension maximal muscle strength of Taekwondo, soccer, gymnastic athletes and balance ability, and in case of right foot one-leg standing with open-eyes, there was a relation between that is right plantar flexion and dorsi flexion maximum muscle strength and muscle endurance of Taekwondo, soccer, gymnastic athletes and their balance ability. Furthermore, in case of left dorsi flexion maximum muscle strength, there were significant differences in order of Taekwondo, gymnastics and soccer, and for isokinetic plantar flexion maximum muscle endurance, both right and left showed significant differences in order of Taekwondo, gymnastic and soccer.

The Effects of a Folk Play Program on Cognition, ADL, and Problematic Behavior in the Elderly with Dementia (민속놀이 프로그램이 치매노인의 인지기능, 일상생활수행능력 및 문제행동에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: This study was to develop and evaluate a folk play program as a nursing intervention for the elderly with dementia. Method: First, a folk play program was developed through a careful study of literature review and field-work. Second, a nonequivalent control group pre-post test was designed. The subjects of the study were the elderly with dementia staying in nursing homes; 15 were in an experimental group adopting a folk play program developed through this study, 18 in the control group on a gymnastics and walking program which is generally used. The 40 min. intervention was conducted 5 times a week for 4 weeks. Result: The folk play program improved the cognition(t=6.12, p<.001) and ADL(t=2.92, p=.014) and diminished the frequency of problematic behaviors significantly(t=-6.39, p<.001). There was a significant difference of cognition, ADL, and problematic behaviors between the control and the experimental group before and after the experiment(t=3.38, p=.002; t=2.05, p=.046; t=-7.74, p<.001). Conclusion: Compared with the gymnastics and walking program, the folk play program proved to be much more effective in the elderly with dementia in improving their cognition and ADL, as well as in diminishing their problematic behaviors. Therefore, a folk play program should be appliedas an effective and practical Korean nursing intervention for the elderly with dementia.

The Theory and Application of Health Promotion Program at Work Sites (산업장 건강증진 사업의 이론과 실제)

  • This study reviewed the, reference of health promotion program and investigated the status of health promotion program at work sites in U.S.A. Good health promotion program is essential for both employees and employers to reduce morbidity rate, to promote productivity and to enhance quality of life and so on. Health promotion aimed at modifying unhealthy life-styles by building awareness, knowledge, skills, and interpersonal support. And health promotion cycle is resemblance to the plan-do-check-act. The major contents of this study are briefed following as : 1) Links between life-style, environment, and health 2) Effect of work sites health promotion effort 3) Prevalence and contents of work site health promotion programs 4) Health promotion process 5) Program framework and structure 6) Stages in the health promotion cycle 7) Approaches for modifying organizational stressors In addition this, the survey was conducted to aim diagnosing the status of health promotion p개gram in work sites in Korea. The main finding-outs are summarized as follows: 1) In 4 large size work sites, there are working with 1 doctor in all work sites, 1 nurse per 3,000 employees and other health related professionals. They have clinic office(4 work sites), gymnasium(2 work sites), and other many facilities like physical therapy center. And only one company have a wellness clinic center. All employees use to exercise health gymnastics in terms of 5 minutes regularly 2 times in a day. 2) In 4 middle size work sites, there are no doctor, 1 nurse and 1 nutritionist in all work sites. They have also clinic, physical therapy center(1 work site), and all employees exercise health gymnastics regularly 2 times in a day too.

Trend Analysis of Exercise Content on the Rings Final in the 1st Youth Olympic Games

  • The Youth Olympic Games(YOG) is an international multi-sport event first held in Singapore from August 14 to August 26, 2010. The idea for such an event was introduced by International Olympic Committee(IOC). The Federation of International Gymnastics(2009) designed the Code of Points and regulates for junior gymnastics at this time. The purpose of this study was to give crucial information and adapt to coaches and junior gymnasts at the time of changing code rapidly. For this study, The eight finalists rings exercise at the 1st Youth Olympic Games was recorded using a digital camcoder. The exercise contents analysis of rings was carried out by an experienced international judge using Code of Points(FIG, 2009). The C elements in various difficulties were performed the highest frequency. The elements group I was the most frequently performed in overall difficulties. Moreover, All the gymnasts performed the elements of the Jonasson and Yamawaki in Group I. Therefore, junior gymnasts need to consider Jonasson and Yamawaki elements correctly in elements group I. The 1st ranked ROU(132) gymnast performed high difficulty value for his routine with the highest E score(9.050). The average of D score were 5.125. In the E scores, 8th USA(140) gymnast received the lowest E score of 8.15, 5th MGL(127) gymnasts received the fewer E score of 8.475. Coaches and junior gymnasts should try to increase D score above 5.125 by higher swing elements in Group I and II as well, decrease deduction of elements in exercise contents.
