  • VMD should be shifted from the store for the exhibition to the top selling store, the store that has something people want to buy, the store where people want to visit and the store that is convenient for shopping. To become the top selling store by using VMD to the information design, the primary research has been conducted on the females in Gwangju Metropolitan City by the questionnaire on the propensity to consume and purchase type. The secondary research has been conducted on the females in university who are fashion conscious. The tertiary research, by the questionnaire, has been conducted on the apparel store at the department store in Gwangju Metropolitan City. As a result of the research, it can be said that the best effect of VMD has been shown in the department store, and as the overall problem, it has become obvious that the standardized design was followed without taking advantage of the characteristics of each store.

  • The purpose of this study is to assess the smart city for major cities in Korea. The assessment indicators are based on the STIM structure (Service, Technology, Infrastructure, and Management Layer Architecture) of the Multi-Layered Smart City Model. Assessment indicators are established through smart city concepts, case analysis, big data analysis, as well as weighted through expert AHP survey. For the assessment, seven major metropolitan cities are selected, including Seoul, and their data such as KOSIS, KISDISTAT from 2017 to 2019 is utilized for the smart city level assessment. The smart city level results show that the service, technology, infrastructure, and management levels were relatively high in Seoul and Incheon, which are metropolitan areas. Whereas, Busan, Daegu, and Ulsan, the Gyeongsang provinces are relatively moderate, while Daejeon and Gwangju, the South Chungcheong region and the Jeolla provinces, were relatively low. The overall STIM ranking shows a similar pattern, as the Seoul metropolitan area smart city level outperforms the rest of the analyzed areas with a large difference. Accordingly, balanced development strategies are needed to reduce gaps in the level of smart cities in South Korea, and respective smart city plans are needed considering the characteristics of each region. This paper will follow the literature review, assessment index establishment, weight analysis of assessment index, major cities assessment and result in analysis, and conclusion.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccinations on deaths of the COVID-19 cases in some elderly long-term care facilities (LTCF) in Gwangju Metropolitan City. Methods: The study subjects were 659 COVID-19 cases in residents of 7 elderly LTCF, Gwangju, from 21 Dec. 2021 to 28 Jan. 2022. The used variables were confirmed dates for COVID-19, demographic characteristics, co-morbidities, presentation of symptoms, death and vaccination related characteristics including type of vaccine, doses and dates. Vaccination status were classified as not vaccinated, partially and fully vaccinated. The associations of vaccination status and deaths of COVID-19 cases were tested by chi-square test and multiple logistic regression analysis. Results: The rates of not vaccinated, partially vaccinated and fully vaccinated were 19.4%, 10.2% and 70.4%, respectively. The mortality rate of the cases was 6.4%. The death rate by vaccination status was 16.4% in not vaccinated, 15.4% in partially vaccinated and 2.6% in fully vaccinated, showing a statistically significant difference. The adjusted odds ratios (ORs) (95% confidence intervals, CIs) of death compared to fully vaccinated were 7.64 (3.87-16.34) in non-vaccinated, and 6.97 (3.44-14.14) in partially vaccinated. Conclusions: COVID-19 vaccination seems to work effectively in preventing deaths of COVID-19 cases of elderly LTCF residents. This finding support that fully vaccinations in high risk group such as elderly LTCF residents is very important for one of strategies of COVID-19 management.
