  • Biocontrol agents, Gliocladium virens G872B and Pseudomonas putida Pf3, were compatible each other in colonizing cucumber rhizosphere, which contributed to a long-term inhibition of cucumber Fusarium wilt. G872B colonized successfully on the cucumber root system, irrespective of the introduction of Pf3. Pf3 also colonized well in the cucumber rhizosphere regardless of the presence of G872B. The individual strains effectively suppressed cucumber wilt up to 56 days after transplanting. The combined treatment of G872fB and Pf3 provided a long-term protection of about 80 days with the efficacy greater than that obtained by any individual strains under greenhouse conditions. These results suggest that the colonization of the biological control agents in the rhizosphere could be correlated directly to Fusarium wilt-suppressive potentials.

  • Effects of the number of spans, orientation and latitude on the transmissivities of direct and diffuse solar radiation in multispan glasshouse were analyzed using a computer simulation model (Kim and Lee, 1997). The number of spans did not affect the transmissivity of diffuse solar radiation, ranging 60∼61%. The transmissivities of direct solar radiation were 55∼64% for E-W orientation and 47∼70% for N-S orientation in ten multispan glasshouse. There was no effect of the latitude on the transmissivity of direct solar radiation in domestic regions. Differences in the transmissivity of direct solar radiation between single-span and multispan glasshouse were significant for E-W orientation during winter season; however, those were relatively small for N-S orientation throughout the year. Transmissivity of direct solar radiation decreased with the increasing number of spans for E-W glasshouse, whereas those for N-S glasshouse was hardly affected by the number of spans.

  • Becoming effective on Kyoto protocol, reduction of greenhouse gas is an urgent concern of our world. Transportation, depending on fossil fuel, is required to transfer higher effiency and green tech. oriented one. Electric Vehicle-EV-is take attention with its ability not only to reduce CO2 emission in transportation, but also to support load levelizing, spinning reserve, increase power quality on microgrid. This paper presents the recent policy for EV diffusion and the effects on power system demand and local system power quality.

  • Methane carbon dioxide reforming (MCDR) is a promising way of utilizing greenhouse gas for hydrogen-rich fuel production. Compared with other types of reactors, Compact Reformers (CRs) are efficient for fuel processing. In a CR, a thin solid plate is placed between two porous catalyst layers to enable efficient heat transfer between the two catalyst layers. In this study, the physical and chemical processes of MCDR in a CR are studied numerically with a 2D numerical model. The model considers the multi-component gas transport and heat transfer in the fuel channel and the porous catalyst layer, and the MCDR reaction kinetics in the catalyst layer. The finite volume method (FVM) is used for discretizing the governing equations. The SIMPLEC algorithm is used to couple the pressure and the velocity. Parametrical simulations are conducted to analyze in detail the effects of various operating/structural parameters on the fuel processing behavior.

  • Because of an energy efficiency and a greenhouse gas reduction effectiveness at the same time, the concern have been enlarged in the CHP But, the approach of a policy side have been achieved about the South Korea currently. This papers considered a policy side and economic side. As a result of Long Term Generation Expansion Planning from calculating the component ratio of adequate CHP, Reliability of the power system and influence of environments was analyzed.

  • A bioremediation of petroleum-contaminated soil in Korea was evaluated for the optimization of enhanced biodegradation and the minimization of effects of seasonal variations, The short-term bioremediation in combination of biopile pretreatment and landfarming was performed by lowering contaminated levels and overcoming the inhibiting factors in the rainy and winter seasons. A microbial density was maintained with indigenous microbial addition for bioaugmentation and with fertilizers for biostimulation. A lesser volatile and biodegradable fraction due to their abiotic removals following the biopile pretreatment was effectively removed by the laterally applied landfarming. The optimal temperature in greenhouse was maintained by buffering of the soil temperature even with slight decreases in removal rates during the winter and extensive leaching of nutrients and contaminants was restricted with adjusting the water contents during the Korean rainy season. Although the tilling process was effective for biodegradation with aeration only, the simultaneous treatment due to apparent mixing of nutrients and microbes more favorably degraded the petroleum than the sequential treatment.

  • To check feasibility of SEWGS(Sorption Enhanced Water Gas Shift) system, conceptual design and sensitivity analysis of operating variables have been investigated based on a design program of two-interconnected fluidized bed. Based on the conceptual design results, the optimum configuration for SEWGS was considered. Among three configurations, bubbling beds system was selected as the best configuration. Process design results indicate that the SEWGS system is compact and feasible. Based on the selected operating conditions, the effects of variables such as pressure, $CO_2$ capture capacity, solid inventory, CO conversion and $CO_2$ capture efficiency have been investigated as well.
