A Case Report on Peripheral Facial Nerve Palsy and Sleep Disorders After Microvascular Decompression (미세혈관 감압술 후 발생한 말초성 안면신경 마비와 수면장애에 대한 한방치험 1례)

  • Objectives: This study reports on the efficacy of Korean medicine treatments for peripheral facial nerve palsy and sleep disorders that occur after microvascular decompression. Methods: A 57-year-old female patient with right facial palsy was treated with herbal medicines and acupuncture for 36 days. The treatment effect was evaluated using the House Brackmann Grading System (HBGS), Yanagihara's Unweighed Grading System (Yanagihara's score), and the Korean Modified Leeds Sleep Evaluation Questionnaire (KMLSEQ). Results: Following treatment, the patient showed a decrease in HBGS and an improvement in Yanagihara's score and KMLSEQ score. Conclusions: Korean medicine treatments appeared to be effective in reducing facial nerve palsy. Further clinical research on patients with facial nerve palsy is needed.

The Clinical study of Su-Gi therapy's Effects on Bell's palsy by observing of Y-system (Y-system으로 관찰한 Bell's palsy에 미치는 수기요법의 영향에 관한 임상적 연구)

  • Objects : The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of Su-Gi therapy for Bell's palsy by using Y-system(Yanagihara's unweighted grading system). Methods : We investigated 25 patients with Bell's palsy who had visited in the M, H Korean medicine hospital in Gyeonggi Province from December 27th, 2010 to April 8th, 2015. The Su-Gi therapy was done by 1 times daily. And each patients had been treated more than 25 days. We evaluated the change of them by using Y-system. Results : 1. We investigated 25 patients with Bell's palsy. 80% of the patients were females(20 patients), 20% of the patients were male(5 patients). The average age of patients was 47±15.15. The average period of Adm. treatment was 64% of the patients(16 patients) have left facial palsy, 36% of the patients(9 patients) have right facial palsy. 2. The mean Y-system score before treatment was 17.80±6.2, and the mean score after 25th days treatment was 33.68±4.0. Changes in the mean Y-system Score for each case according to the treatment days was increased significantly. 3. The mean Y-system score after 4th days treatment had increased by an 1.24±2.7 as compared to before treatment, the score after 10th days treatment was 8.7±4.7, the score after 14th days treatment was 11.84±5.8, the score after 20th days treatment is 14.72±6.7, and the score after 25th days treatment was 15.88±6.9. Every score was significantly increased. Conclusions: 1. Su-Gi therapy can be defined that is mainly using the hands to touch or movement of the human body skin, meridians and acupuncture points, muscles, joints and so on. And that is the treatment to communicate and harmonize to the meridians and acupuncture points, and to prevent of diseases, and to keep health. 2. All names of An-Gyo, An-Ma, Jum-Hyul, Chu-Na, massage, and so on should be referred to as Su-Gi therapy. And that individual names are to be classified and separated as the type or method of Su-Gi therapy. 3. The results of the treatment of Hwidam's Su-Gi therapy for Bell's palsy by using Y-system were significant.

A Study on the functional Charaterictics of Apparel CAD Systems (어패럴 CAD 시스템 기능적 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to provide the reference information for user and potential users of apparel CAD system is Korea. Two interviews were carried out for the study. The apparel CAD system of Assyst, Gerber and Yuka was selected for technical comparative study. The results were as follows: 1. The future development of the apparel CAD system is the transfer of the developed pattern design from a 3D design system and of CIM concept. 2. The share of data is working closely in a module function. So the Assyst system provide connectivity and communication between all apparel CAD system's module and other automation programs. This system is suitable for CIM production line. 3. The Gerber system is developed the Apparel CAD system which is given by the CAM system's technical ability. This system is given high insurance of ability to the service and data transportation with other systems from users in the Korea. 4. The Yuka system is developed pattern making by the Apparel CAD system. This system's different methods which is compared with other systems are the split grading and auto pattern making. So this system is suitable for users which want to product many items and a little amount garment by using the Apparel CAD system.

The current evidence for the effectiveness of exercise in low back pain (요통에 대한 운동치료 효과의 최근 연구에 따른 증거)

  • 컴퓨터를 이용하여 MEDLINE, AMED, CINAHL과 Cochrane Libra를 검색하여 요통환자를 위한 다양한 형태의 운동치료 효과에 대해서 발표된 연구 보고서 중 1991년부터 2001년 사이에 영문으로 출판된 보고서를 중심으로 본 연구에 합당한 주제를 충족시키는 연구 보고서 40편을 선택하였다. 수집된 자료를 통하여 요통 관리의 운동치료 효과에 대하여 연구하였으며 일반적인 요통환자들만을 대상으로 급성, 아급성, 만성단계로 구분하였다. 실험논문은 수정된 rating system을 이용하여 논문의 질 수준과 연구결과를 측정하였으며 고찰 논문과 관찰 연구는 grading system을 사용하여 주요 연구 결과를 측정하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 운동치료가 통증감소와 기능 향상에 효과적임이 증명되었고, 총괄적으로 타당도를 지지하는 정도는 중등도에 해당되었다. 연구보고서들을 scale system을 통해서 세부적으로 분석했을 때, 상급의 연구 방법론적 질을 충족시켰다. 결과에 따르면 급성, 아급성과 만성요통에 대한 운동치료가 효과적이었다라는 확실한 증거를 나타냈다. 본 연구의 결론은 요통환자에 대한 운동치료는 효과적으로 입증되었으며, 특별히 만성요통환자의 경우에 더욱 더 효과적인 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결론을 더욱 지지하기 위해서는 더 많은 고질의 연구 논문들이 이루어져야 할 것이다.

Integrated Automation System of Pattern Design and $CO_2$ Laser Cutting for Diving Suits (잠수복 패턴 자동 설계 및 $CO_2$ 레이저 절단을 위한 통합 시스템 개발)

  • In this paper, an integrated automation system of pattern design and $CO_2$ laser cutting for diving suits is presented. Pattern design includes grading which creates a full-size range from a base pattern. Tool path for laser cutting from the patterns is generated in G-code format. $CO_2$ Laser cutting machine is developed to help cut the patterns with accuracy and speed. Aluminum profiles, ball screws, and stepping motors are engaged into the machine as frame structure, transfer unit, and driving devices respectively. The developed system is tested in dry suit cutting, convincing it can be readily introduced in driving suits manufacturing with respect to cost and efficiency.

An Alternative Model on Hierachial Settlement System in Rural Areas (농어촌지역 하위정주체계 모형의 대안설정)

  • In rural settlement planning, its spatial development framework should be constructed on the basis of the hierachial settlement system. However, up to now, there does not exist widely - accepted model on rural settlement hierachy. In this study the basic planning principles and directions on the modelling of the settlement hireachy in rural areas have been consolidated through theoretical study and situational analysis on planning environments. And also, a new yardstick on the grading of the middle - level centers between villages and rural towns has been tried to find out. The research resulted that the existance of periodical rural market might be used as a simple and innovative yardstick on the hierachial ordering of rural settlement system. Based on the above results, an alternative 4 - step model of rural settlement hierachy was proposed ; Rural Town(county hall sitted) -Market Center(having standard periodical market) - Village Center(having no market) - Village. Finally, because the conclusion has been made by very limited case studies and several previous works, there should need continuous studies and checks in future for full reasoning of the proposed model.

Assessment Items of Outdoor Environment through Analysis of SITES - Focused on the Comparison with G-SEED and LEED -

  • Although assessing outdoor environment and green space in terms of sustainability and environmental performance is perceived as an important issue, most existing green building certification systems are more focused on buildings and indoor environment. Recently, the Sustainable Site Initiatives (SITES) has been developed by American Society of Landscape Architecture in order to evaluate sustainability of site development and outdoor environment. Separate from LEED, the SITES are increasingly receiving attentions as a reliable certification system in the United States. As a preliminary study to develop the items of outdoor environmental assessment, the present study is purposed to analyze the assessment items, grading system and applicability of SITES for better understanding on the system. Also it was compared to existing green building certification criteria, including G-SEED, LEED-NC, and LEED-ND in order to investigate similarities and discrepancies. The results would provide insights and basic data to improve assessment items for outdoor environment of G-SEED.

  • In Korea, researches on year-round leaf vegetables production system are in progress, most of them focused on environmental control. Therefore, automation technologies for harvesting, transporting, and grading are in great demand. A robot system for harvesting lettuces, composed of a 3-DOF (degree of freedom) manipulator, an end-effector, a lettuce feeding conveyor, an air blower, a machine vision system, six photoelectric sensors, and a fuzzy logic controller, was developed. A fuzzy logic control was applied to determine appropriate grip force on lettuce. Leaf area index and height were used as input variables and voltage as an output variable for the fuzzy logic controller. Success rate of the lettuce harvesting was 94.12%, and average harvesting time was approximately 5 seconds per lettuce.

Extraction of Geometric and Color Features in the Tobacco-leaf by Computer Vision (컴퓨터 시각에 의한 잎담배의 외형 및 색 특징 추출)

  • A personal computer based color machine vision system with video camera and fluorescent lighting system was used to generate images of stationary tobacco leaves. Image processing algorithms were developed to extract both the geometric and the color features of tobacco leaves. Geometric features include area, perimeter, centroid, roundness and complex ratio. Color calibration scheme was developed to convert measured pixel values to the standard color unit using both statistics and artificial neural network algorithm. Improved back propagation algorithm showed less sum of square errors than multiple linear regression. Color features provide not only quality evaluation quantities but the accurate color measurement. Those quality features would be useful in grading tobacco automatically. This system would also be useful in measuring visual features of other agricultural products.

A Case Report of a papule and nodule acne patient Treated with Osuyu-tang Based on Shanghanlun Provisions (『상한론(傷寒論)』 변병진단체계(辨病診斷體系)에 근거하여 소음병(少陰病) 오수유탕(吳茱萸湯)을 투여한 후 호전된 구진성·결절성 여드름 증례 1례)

  • Objective: In this study, we aimed to inform people that acne can be improved with Osuyu-tang (OSYT) based on the Shanghanlun disease pattern identification diagnostic system (DPIDS). Methods: We evaluated the progress of symptoms, patient compliance, and presence of side effects after the patient took OSYT. The progress of acne treatment was evaluated using the Korean Acne Grading System (KAGS), visual findings, and patient statements. Results: According to the DPIDS, the patient was diagnosed with provision 309 of soyinbing. After administration of OSYTfor 50 days, KAGS decreased from grade 3 to grade 1. Cold hands and feet improved significantly. Conclusions: Through this case study, we showed the possibility of the clinical interpretation and application of OSYT and suggested further case studies in the future.
