The Effects of Going Public on Firm Innovation of KOSDAQ IPO Firms (코스닥 상장 전·후 기업의 혁신성과)

  • Purpose - This study investigates the effects of going public on the innovation of KOSDAQ firms. Design/methodology/approach - This study uses firms that go public from 2007 to 2011 in Korea. We compare a firm's innovation performance over five years before and after IPO. Findings - We find that firm's innovation declines after an IPO. After going public, both the quality and the quantity of patents are decreased. However, this decrease is alleviated in high-tech industries or concentrated industries where innovation is expected to be more valuable. When comparing firms with venture capital(VC), which are more likely to window dress, to firms without VC, VC backing has no meaningful impact on changes of innovation. Research implications or Originality - As the KOSDAQ market was established to provide small and medium enterprises(SMEs) with funds for firm's investments and growth, it is necessary to verify whether the capital raised at the IPO encourages innovation. Thus, our study contributes to the literature by examining empirically whether an IPO boosts a firm's innovation.

  • Retail is called location business because it is one of the most important factors to estimate management of stores for retailers who are going to sell products directly to customers. Retailers' management achievements are shown in sale in general. Therefore, retailers tend to focus on ways to increase the numbers of customers in order to raise sales. First of all, in this research, I am going to examine the most fundamental models such as Reilly's retail gravitation, converse model, huff probability model and multiful losit model in selecting stores. Secondly, I am going to provide the process and analyzing ways to predict estimated sales amount with the previous theory model. Also I am going to predict estimated sales amount of the department store L which is located in D metorpolitan city. Lastly, I am going to argue about the problem of this research and the next research subject. Our main goal is to provide ways to complement and inspect sales estimation models, which can be used in fields after taking characters of high class structure of Korea into consideration on the base of previous researches. According to the result of the research, my conclusion is that if the process of analysis and changing factors are complemented, revise model, which can reflect reality of Korea, will be provided. Therefore, in the future study, we have to build up theory models to suit for our retail market through critic reviews about the existing high class structure of Korea.

A Study of the Characteristics and Psychology of Women with Strollers by a Pedestrian Environment in a Housing Area (주거지 보행환경과 유모차 동반 여성보행자의 외출특성 및 보행심리와의 관계)

  • A pedestrian environment provides improved walking conditions and facilities for most pedestrians. However, the walking conditions for women with strollers are poor. The purpose of this study was to provide information on the walking environment planning for women with strollers in an urban housing area through analyse of walking characteristics, patterns of going out, and the psychology of them. This study surveyed 208 women who pushed a baby n a stroller in Gyeongsan. The analysis consisted of calculation of the frequencies, the mean, t-test, and ${\chi}^2$ test. The survey results revealed that, first, the women had their own favorite places in the housing area, and usually went out during the afternoon as various aims. When they went out, they felt stress both psychologically and physically, and they thought that they were weak at walking. Second, the safety and the convenience factors of walking environment were important conditions that make the women to go out often. Third, the environment that have not the accessibility, the amenity, and the diversity also restricted the women from going out with the stroller. As a result, they did mot use the stroller and tended to use their cars to go out. However, when the diversity of the environment is added to walking environment, women invreased their social interactions.

Real-Time Locomotion Mode Recognition Employing Correlation Feature Analysis Using EMG Pattern

  • This paper presents a new locomotion mode recognition method based on a transformed correlation feature analysis using an electromyography (EMG) pattern. Each movement is recognized using six weighted subcorrelation filters, which are applied to the correlation feature analysis through the use of six time-domain features. The proposed method has a high recognition rate because it reflects the importance of the different features according to the movements and thereby enables one to recognize real-time EMG patterns, owing to the rapid execution of the correlation feature analysis. The experiment results show that the discriminating power of the proposed method is 85.89% (${\pm}2.5$) when walking on a level surface, 96.47% (${\pm}0.9$) when going up stairs, and 96.37% (${\pm}1.3$) when going down stairs for given normal movement data. This makes its accuracy and stability better than that found for the principal component analysis and linear discriminant analysis methods.

  • The Former High Efficiency Inverter(the power restoration process) system process has advantage which is the energy reduction rather than the Former Inverter(the resistence damping process), However, under repair and remodeling, the power facilities capacity is not easy to increase that the former High Efficiency Inverter needs to increase the Power Facilities Capacity of 20~30% than the Inverter(the resistence damping process) so Therefore we are going to suggest the system which is not going to make an increase the power facilities capacity and is applicable the High Efficiency Inverter.

  • Upon the basis at the end of March 2005, we have the 38.91 million cellular phone subscribers over the country and the total diffusion rate of the cellular phone is reached up to 76.1%. At this moment, it can be said the most people use it since the demand is still going on. Turning to the operation company, this is serviced by the SK Telecom, LG Telecom, and KTF, and there are at least 7 manufactures producing it including Samsung, LG, KTF ever, Motorola, SKY, Pantac and Curitel, Most users periodically change the service vendor to the others for buying new model or changing the service vendor. It is understood the customer's action occurred by the differences of the brand cognition. In this study, along with some parameters including the difference of the vendor's brand cognition, difference of satisfaction (mobile telecommunication, product), and the possibility to buy the product again, I am going to find out the relationship between the satisfaction of the provider's service

  • Most of the demand forecasting which have been studied is about long-term time series over 15 years demand forecasting. In this paper, we set up the most optimal ARIMA model for the short-term time series demand forecasting and suggest demand forecasting system for short-term time series by appraising suitability and predictability. We are going to use the univariate ARIMA model in parallel with the bivariate transfer function model to improve the accuracy of forecasting. We also analyze the effect of advertisement cost, scale of branch stores, and number of clerk on the establishment of marketing policy by applying statistical methods. After then we are going to show you customer's needs, which are number of buying products. We have applied this method to forecast the annual sales of refrigerator in four branch stores of A company.

A Vehicle Routing Problem Which Considers Traffic Situation by Service Time Zones (서비스 시간대별 교통상황을 고려한 차량경로문제)

  • The vehicle travel time between the demand points in downtown area is greatly influenced by complex road condition and traffic situation that change real time to various external environments. Most of research in the vehicle routing problems compose vehicle routes only considering travel distance and average vehicle speed between the demand points, however did not consider dynamic external environments such as traffic situation by service time zones. A realistic vehicle routing problem which considers traffic situation of smooth, delaying, and stagnating by three service time zones such as going to work, afternoon, and going home was suggested in this study. A mathematical programming model was suggested and it gives an optimal solution when using ILOG CPLEX. A hybrid genetic algorithm was also suggested to chooses a vehicle route considering traffic situation to minimize the total travel time. By comparing the result considering the traffic situation, the suggested algorithm gives better solution than existing algorithms.

A Prim Minimum Spanning Tree Algorithm for Directed Graph (방향 그래프의 Prim 최소신장트리 알고리즘)

  • This paper suggests an algorithm that obtains Directed Graph Minimum Spanning Tree (DMST), using Prim MST algorithm which is Minimum Spanning Tree (MST) of undirected graph. At first, I suggested the Prim DMST algorithm that chooses Minimum Weight Arc(MWA) from out-going nodes from each node, considering differences between undirected graph and directed graph. Next, I proved a disadvantage of Prim DMST algorithm and Chu-Liu/Edmonds DMST (typical representative DMST) of not being able to find DMST, applying them to 3 real graphs. Last, as an algorithm that can always find DMST, an advanced Prim DMST is suggested. The Prim DMST algorithm uses a method of choosing MWA among out-going arcs of each node. On the other hand, the advanced Prim DMST algorithm uses a method of choosing a coinciding arc from the out-going and in-going arcs of each node. And if there is no coinciding arc, it chooses MWA from the out-going arcs from each node. Applying the suggested algorithm to 17 different graphs, it succeeded in finding the same DMST as that found by Chu-Liu/Edmonds DMST algorithm. Also, it does not require such a complicated calculation as that of Chu-Liu/Edmonds DMST algorithm to delete the cycle, and it takes less time for process than Prim DMST algorithm.
