Daylighting systems can improve the luminous quality of indoor environment and reduce the building's electric lighting energy consumption. For designing good daylighting, place the light where it is desired and avoid excessive contrasts, glare and high light levels. Sun scoop, light scoop and sun catcher systems have been used for alternative systems compared to other natural lighting systems. This study aims to evaluate daylighting performance of sun scoop, light scoop and sun catcher systems using scale model experiments. For the purpose, the 1/10 scale models of the systems were made as the same areas of glazing(10 percent of floor area) on the top of the center roof. Totally 15 measuring points of illuminance on the horizontal work plane were monitored from 09:30 to 12:30 on October 29, 2007. Agilent data logger and photometric sensors Li-cor were used. As the results, the topside lighting systems can improve the illumination uniformity than side lighting and top lighting. However, the appropriated shading system should be integrated to prevent the direct sunlight.
Daylight is very useful to control the indoor environment, and can save energy in buildings. So it is necessary to evaluate the daylighting performance of buildings. We proposed a simplified equation that can be used in the early stages of design. And we verified the equation by using the measured illuminance data from the 1/5 scale model. We compared the calculated indoor illuminances and measured illuminance including Daylight Factors of scale model in order to verify the applicability of the simplified equation, and proved the analyzed values are acceptable. When we have a target value of the Daylight Factor, we just have to determine the window area, transmittance of the glazing system, and indoor surface reflectance, then can achieve it with this simplified equation.
This paper focuses on the response of architectural form to the technological characteristics in the institute facilities. For this, we study the meaning of technology in the aspect of physical, formal and social concepts and their architectural expression and sort by grouping through analyzing 27 cases of foreign current Institute facilities. Conclusions can be summarized as followings: 1) Vocabulary of technology in physical concept is presented by the environmental control through the experimental surface such as louver and glazing and the independent exposed equipment. 2) Vocabulary of technology in physical concept is presented using the machine like aesthetics by exposing the structural members and designing the exterior form using dynamical images. 3) The expression of social meaning in technology is presented by standardization, parts assembling through mass production system, the unit material for expression of today's industrial society. The expressions of technological language in the institute facilities are used not only one vocabulary but comprehensive ones.
Radiant barrier systems(RES) constructed with low emissivity materials bounded by an open air space can be used to reduce the net radiation transfer between two surfaces. To analyze the heat transfer characteristics of the radiant barrier systems which consist of a single-glass and radiation barriers, a simple theoretical model based on energy balances was suggested. And the model was validated by means of the experimental results. Using a guarded hot box, the temperatures of layers in selected RES and energy use for each cases were measured. The results show that the model well explained the heat transfer characteristics of those RES. Also, the heat transfer coefficient correlations considering natural and forced convection heat transfer ware suggested. It is found that the heat transfer efficiency of a RBS with aluminium surface improved up to 66.6% over that of a single glazing system.

The best plan to reduce the building energy consumption is that the insulation performance should be improved because the insulation and airtight of building envelopes have an effect on the energy consumption basically. New insulation materials, which have the high performance and are above insulation standard, have been developed steadily. Because there are not studies on the building energy rating system and economic evaluation considering new insulation materials, these matters should be studied. In result alternatives, which applied 6 high performance material each, reduce the annual heating energy and raise the building energy rating. Applying the vacuum insulation material(Case 1, 2) and vacuum or triple glazing can retrieves the investment with $120 and $140$\sim$150 per barrel each.

Recently, CMP (Chemical Mechanical Polishing) is one of very important processing in semiconductor technology because of large integration and application of design role. CMP is a planarization process of wafer surface using the chemical and mechanical reactions. One of the most important components of the CMP system is the polishing pad. During the CMP process, the pad itself becomes smoother and glazing. Therefore it is necessary to have a pad conditioning process to refresh the pad surface, to remove slurry debris and to supply the fresh slurry on the surface. A diamond disk use during the pad conditioning. There are diamonds on the surface of diamond disk to remove slurry debris and to polish pad surface slightly, so density, shape and size of diamond are very important factors. In. this study, we characterized diamond disk with 9 kinds of sample.
Purpose: This study was conducted to compare the Vickers hardness on the denture acrylic resins using the glaze color system. Methods: The specimens (20×2 mm) were prepared by mixing according to the manufacturer's protocols through thermal polymerization and self-polymerization. The surface roughness was measured using a testing machine after water-soaking for 48 hours. For the Vickers hardness measurement, the completed specimen was soaked in water for 48 hours and then applied at 200 gf for 30 seconds. Was the specimen immersed after being soaked in water for 48 hours at temperatures of 5℃ and 55℃, respectively, for 30 seconds for the thermos-cycling treatment, and it was carried out 5,000 times. Results: Surface roughness was higher in the more glazing group than in the control group. A significant difference was observed in all groups, except for the Retec Don 2000 and Luciton 199 groups (p<0.05). As a result of measuring the Vickers hardness, the treatment by glaze color showed slightly lower but the thermo-cycling treatment group appeared higher than control group in all. Conclusion: Therefore, the glaze color was found to affect the surface roughness and showed a significant difference. The surface glaze color showed a very high Vickers hardness after the thermo-cycling treatment, indicating that the surface-strengthening effect is greater in the oral environment.
The first grid-connected, building-integrated transparent amorphous silicon photovoltaic installation has been operated since October 2004 in Yongin, Korea. The 2.2kWp transparent PV system was applied to the facade of entrance hall in newly constructed KOLON E&C R&D building. The PV module is a nominal 0.98m ${\times}$ 0.95m, 10% transparent, laminated, amorphous(a-Si) thin-film device rated at 44 Wp per module. To demonstrate the architectural features of thin film PV technologies for daylighting application, transparent PV modules are attached to the building envelope with the form of single glazed window and special point glazing(SPG) frames. Besides power generation, the 10% transmittance of a-Si PV module provides very smooth natural daylight to the entrance hall without any special shading devices for whole year. The installation is fully instrumented and is continuously monitored in order to allow the performance assessment of amorphous silicon PV operating at the prevailing conditions. This paper presents measured power performance data from the first 12 months of operation. For the first year, annual average system specific yield was just 486.4kWh/kWp/year which is almost half of typical amorphous silicon PV output under the best angle and orientation. It should be caused by building orientation and self-shading of adjacent mass. Besides annual power output, various statistical analysis was performed to identify the characteristics of transparent thin film PV system.
Effective climate protection is a most important tasks of our time. The BIPV is one of the most interesting and promisingly possibilities of an active use of solar energy at the building. In this study it was analyzed by the case study the function of the requirement of the BIPV-module as building material and this architectural characteristic according to the kind of the module. Therefore the goal of this study is to get securing the application information of BIPV as windowpane. BIPV modules are manufactured in the form of G/G. In the case of the crystal type the Transparent and the light Transmission is to be adjusted by the spacer attitude of the cell. Although this type could not be optimal for light effect of indoors because of the inequality of shade, the moving shade play makes a dramatic Roomimage by the run of sun. The application of this type would be for canopy, window or roof in the corridor or resounds. With amorphous the type it is to be manufactured simply largely laminar, and thus that will shorten building process. There is a relatively good economy to use and to the window system easily. After the production technology is easy the transparency of the modules to adjust, and the module shows to a high degree constant characteristics of light permeability and transparency. Without mottle of module shade is good the use for the window or roof glazing of office, library, classroom, etc. to adapt. The BIPV modules took generally speaking a function as building material to the daylight use, shading, isolation and also to the sight. That means that BIPV modules have as multifunctional system to sustainable architecture good successes and they are at the same time as Design element for architecture effectively.

Various efforts to combine new high-tech materials with solar system have been progressed nowadays in order to improve the performance of the existing passive solar system. TIM(Transparent Insulation Material) replacing the conventional outer building envelope glazing as well as the wall is good example for this trend. TI integrated wall is a thermal mass wall with a special shaped TIM instead of using typical envelope materials The tested TIM type is a small(diameter 4mm and thickness 50mm) capillary tube of Okalux model and cement brick(density 1500kg/m3). The purpose of this study was to analyze the thermal performance through the actual measurements performed in a test cell. This study was carried out to justify the following issues. 1) the impact of Tl-wall over the temperature variations 2) the impact of mass wall surface absorptance over the transient thermal behavior and 3) the impact of thermal mass wall thickness over the temperature variations. Finally, as results indicated that the peak time of room temperature was shifted about one hour early when absorptance of thermal mass wall changed from 60% to 95% for the 190mm thickness thermal mass wall test case. the temperature difference of both surfaces of thermal mass wall surface showed about $23^{\circ}C$ during a day of March for the 380mm thickness thermal mass wall case. However, the thermal mass wall was over-heated by outside temperature and solar radiation in a day of May the temperature difference of both surfaces of thermal mass wall surface was indicated $10^{\circ}C$ and inside temperature was observed more than average 22C.
