  • SAR image is not dependent on the weather condition and Sun's electromagnetic energy. But geometric distortions exist in almost all radar image, it need to be correction. The Radarsat-1 SAR images are used to monitoring of moisture acquired in May 1/1998 and May 25/1998. Radarsat-1 C band data is sensitive on moisture condition. Study area is located in Non-san site. It is made up almost agricultural area and a little of forest area. In May, Rice-planting is started in the midland of Korea. So moisture condition is undergoing many changes. Forest area need to be terrain effect removal for accurately results because it is included in layover, shadow, and so on. Results of land-cover moisture condition map are useful tool for fields of agriculture, forestry industry, and disaster.

  • In this paper, a new approach to acquire the cross-sentional image for automatic solder joint inspection of double-sided PCB using X-ray source is presented. We designed the apparatus with fixed X-ray source to realize the cross-sectional image by tunning object and detector synchronously. The cross-sectional images are captured at several view angle of X-ray source, the geometric image distortions caused by view angle and the shape of image intensifier are compensated. The precision variation of cross-sectional image by the change of view angle was investigated. Also we acquired the cross-sectional image to the solder joint of double-sided PCB and reconstructed the shape of solder joint.

  • The major threat of geometric manipulations is that they change the positions of watermarks, therefore the detection process fails to extract watermark properly. Since they cause the same effects on the host image as watermarks simultaneously, evaluating the distorted host image can be helpful to measure the nature of distortions. In this paper, we propose a geometrical distortion-resilient watermarking algorithm based on this property. Firstly we evaluate the orientation of a host image by filtering it with directional Gabor kernels, then we insert embedding pattern aligned to the estimated orientation. In its detection step, we evaluate the orientation again by Gabor filtering, then simply project and average the projected value to obtain a 1-D projection average pattern. Finally, auto-correlation function of the 1-D projection average pattern identifies periodic peaks. Analysed are experimental results against geometrical attacks including aspect ratio changes.

  • The substituent dependence of geometric distortion through the two independent electronic substituent effects is analyzed for mono-substituted benzene derivatives of $C_{2v}$. Based on resonance structures, quantitative relationships expressing the resonance and field/inductive contribution terms in bond distortions are derived. The calculated field-effect parts of $C_{ipso}$_$C_{ortho}$ ring bonds increase and decrease compared to benzene for electropositive and electronegative substituents respectively. The nonbonded axial distance, $C_{ipso}$....$C_{para'}$ decreases for electronegative substituents and increases for electropositive substituents. As the electronegativity increases, the distance $C_{ortho}$....$C_{ortho'}$ increases. With the $\pi$-donors, $C_{meta}$....$C_{meta'}$ nonbonded distances are shorter compared to the ones of benzene, and for $\pi$-acceptors, the are longer. Our model based on valence bond approach predicts that the average bond length determined the area of ring, and the sum of the angles <$C_{ortho}$_$C_{ispo}$_$C_{ortho}$ and <$C_{meta}$_$C_{para}$_$C_{meta}$ determines the axial distance.

  • This paper addresses a feature-based robust watermarking scheme for digital images using a local invariant features of SURF (Speeded-Up Robust Feature) descriptor. In general, the feature invariance is exploited to achieve robustness in watermarking schemes, but the leakage of information about hidden watermarks from publicly known locations and sizes of features are not considered carefully in security perspective. We propose embedding and detection methods where the watermark is bound with circular areas and inserted into extracted circular feature regions. These methods enhance the robustness since the circular watermark is inserted into the selected non-overlapping feature regions instead of entire image contents. The evaluation results for repeatability measures of SURF descriptor and robustness measures present the proposed scheme can tolerate various attacks, including signal processing and geometric distortions.

  • Outlier detection and removal is a crucial step needed for various image processing applications such as image registration. Random Sample Consensus (RANSAC) is known to be the best algorithm so far for the outlier detection and removal. However RANSAC requires a cosiderable computation time. To drastically reduce the computation time while preserving the comparable quality, a outlier detection and removal method based on modified K-means is proposed. The original K-means was conducted first for matching point pairs and then cluster merging and member exclusion step are performed in the modification step. We applied the methods to various images with highly repetitive patterns under several geometric distortions and obtained successful results. We compared the proposed method with RANSAC and showed that the proposed method runs 3~10 times faster than RANSAC.

  • The classical 8-node isoparametric serendipity element uses parametric shape functions for both test and trial functions. Although this element performs well in general, it yields poor results under severe mesh distortions. The distortion sensitivity is caused by the lack of continuity and/or completeness of shape functions used for test and trial functions. A recent element using parametric and metric shape functions for constructing the test and trial functions exhibits distortion immunity. This paper discusses the choice of parametric or metric shape functions as the basis for test and/or trial functions, satisfaction of continuity and completeness requirements, and their connection to distortion sensitivity. Also, the performances of four types of elements, viz., parametric, metric, parametric-metric, and metric-parametric, are compared for distorted meshes, and their merits and demerits are discussed.

  • Diagnostic display monitor QA according to AAPM TG18 is usually performed by PACS administrator, product manager and reading doctor, and for acceptance testing and periodic quality control evaluation, a combination of visual and quantitative tests can be used, as outlined in sections 5 and 6 of 'assessment of display performance for medical imaging systems'. Although many display tests can be performed visually, a more objective and quantitative evaluation of display performance requires special test tools. The required instruments vary in their complexity and cost, depending on the context of the evaluation(research, acceptance testing, or quality control) and how thorough the evaluation needs to be. Objective and reliable assessment of many display characteristics can be performed with relatively inexpensive equipment, So, we made 'AAPM TG18 guiding instrument' to ues variable purpose of the evaluation of 'geometrical distortions(quantitative"', 'veiling glare(visual)' and 'sensor calibration'. The spatial measurements for the quantitative evaluation of geometric distortions, and the measurement of the veling-glare ring response function which provides information regarding the spatial extent of the luminance spread, can be performed using the TG18 guiding instrument can be used to sensor calibration to standardize the basic rate of 0% luminance when periodic calibration.
