  • Due to recent climate change, lager-scale storm and flood disasters have occurred. To prepare for this, the government is operating the national disaster management information system(NDMS), it is insufficient that unification and standardization of disaster site information data. In this study, to establish a disaster information display system, spatial DB was stored, quality standards were presented and the quality of spatial information currently provided was evaluated. As a result of evaluation, spatial information is established as different standard for each institution. So it is difficult to integrate and use. It considered that prepare a common standard to redeem this difference.

  • A cadastral map that is base map on Land Information System is divided by two categories, graphical and digital cadastre. And digital cadastre can be displayed with location coordinates of nodes that depict parcel boundary on digital cadastral records. The transformation of digital cadastral records means that imported text data of node coordinate would be transformed into system data. This study was implemented to search reasons of errors resulted from transformation of graphic data and then to analyze the accuracy in terms of Position and area. For this, checking of software used in Geo-Spatial Information System was implemented at first and it was found that the accuracy is up by using double precision in coordinate transformation. On the position accuracy the errors at nodes was erased during making topology and the errors did not effect other nodes. On the area may the area errors because of being in error limit of allowable area had no problems in using of system.

  • In recent times, microblogs have become popular owing to the development of the Internet and mobile environments. Among the various types of microblog data, those containing location data are referred to as spatial social Web objects. General aggregations of such microblog data include data aggregation per user for a single piece of information. This study proposes a spatial aggregation algorithm that combines a general aggregation with spatial data and uses the Geohash and MapReduce operations to perform spatial social analysis, by using microblog data with the characteristics of a spatial social Web object. The proposed algorithm provides the foundation for a meaningful spatial social analysis.

  • This study aims to develop a hydrological information management system to manage the hydrological data of Han river integratedly. Various data related to hydrology such as water level, dams, the positions of the hydrological structures for Han river were collected and inputed to build the hydrological information management system. The Database Management System(DBMS) of Korea Water Resources Cooperation which is operated in the form of digits and characters was linked to the Geo-Spatial Information System to join positional information and digital information and to analyze the hydrological data using graphical techniques. Through this study, the positional errors which occurred when digital or characteristic informations were only used, were detected. And the hydrological information management system was presented to estimate the reliability of data related to water level among the hydrological information and to show the basis of output used to correct the data.

  • It is possible to extract qualified ground control points (GCPs) solely from SAR data without published maps. TerraSAR-X is now in orbit and provides valuable data that have one of the highest spatial resolutions among civilian SAR systems. In this study, a sophisticated method for GCP coordinate extraction from TerraSAR-X stripmap mode data with a 3 m resolution was tested and the quality of the extracted GCPs was evaluated. An inverse-geolocation algorithm was applied to obtain GCPs from TerraSAR-X data. SRTM 90m DEM was used as an auxiliary data set for azimuth time correction of the SAR data. Mean values of the distance errors were 0.11 m and -3.96 m with standard deviations of 6.52 m and 5.11 m in easting and northing, respectively. The result is one of the best among GCPs possibly extracted from current civilian remote sensing systems. The extracted GCPs were used for geo-rectification of an IKONOS image, which demonstrated the applicability of the GCPs to geo-rectification of high resolution optic image. The method used in this study can be applied to KOMPSAT-5 for geo-rectification of high-resolution optic images acquired by KOMPSAT-2 or follow-up missions.

  • Forest fires have been threats to natural resources, endangered species, properties and even to human lives. Efficient management of forest fires requires a complete understanding of the environmental and human related activities, as well as complicate spatial relationships among them. A geo-spatial information system(GSIS) is an appropriate method of being able to mapping and to analyze the spatial data for forest fires. Therefore, this study is to provide and classify the terrain, vegetation, life environment soil and geology factors, and to analyze spatial distribution for forest fire areas by applying the GSIS and the Remote Sensing technology. On the other hands, causes of increasing numbers of forest fires being occurred after In were assessed by comparing the normalized difference vegetation index((NDVI).

  • Analysis method using remote sensing data is one of the effective ways to research a spatial and temporal variability of the mesoscale oceanic motions. During past several decades, many researchers have been getting comprehensive results using remote sensing data with application of data fusion methods in many parts of geo-science. For this study, we took the integration and fusion of several remote sensing data, which are different data resolution, timescale and characteristics, for improving accurate analysis of variation of the Kuroshio Extension. Furthermore, we might get advanced ways to understand the variability of the Kuroshio Extension, has close relation to the spatial and temporal variation of the Kuroshio and Oyashio Current.

  • Based on current practical needs for geo-spatial information on mobile platform, the main theme of this study is a design and implementation of dynamic 3D terrain rendering system using spaceborne imagery, as a kind of texture image for photo-realistic 3D scene generation on mobile environment. Image processing and 3D graphic techniques and algorithms, such as TIN-based vertex generation with regular spacing elevation data for generating 3D terrain surface, image tiling and image-vertex texturing in order to resolve limited resource of mobile devices, were applied and implemented by using graphic pipeline of OpenGL|ES (Embedded System) API. Through this implementation and its tested results with actual data sets of DEM and satellite imagery, we demonstrated the realizable possibility and adaptation of complex typed and large sized 3D geo-spatial information in mobile devices. This prototype system can be used to mobile 3D applications with DEM and satellite imagery in near future.
