  • The study was attempted and executed to reach the following conclusions. The period was May 1st through June 15th, 1998 and the subjects were 302 teachers consisting of School Nurses and general teachers in Pusan city. 1) The degrees of recognition of sexual roles by the subjects were compared as follows : The average point as to the recognition of sexual roles in the occupational functions by the school nurses was 2.41, higher than that of the general teachers. The average points as to the recognition of sexual roles in the attitudes by the school nurses was 2.28, higher than that of the general teachers. The average points as to the recognition of sexual roles in the abilitis was 2.26, higher than that of the general teachers. These ascertain that school nurses recognize the man has higher superities in the occupational functions, the attitudes and the abilities than the woman. 2) The degrees of demand of sexual education by the subjects were compared as follows : As to the degrees of demand of sexual education, the school nurses showed higher demand than the general teachers in the concepts such as 'the society and sexualities, physiology and actual education'. 3) The levels of the consciousness of sexual education by the subjects were compared as follows : the general teachers showed the more strict attitudes than the school nurses against the lascivious sex objects and wanted the punishment against the related students and the general teachers have myth. • Human and animal alveolar echinococcosis (AE) are important helminth infections endemic in wide areas of the Northern hemisphere. Monitoring Echinococcus multilocularis viability and spread using real-time fluorescent imaging in vivo provides a fast method to evaluate the load of parasite. Here, we generated a kind of fluorescent protoscolices in vivo imaging model and utilized this model to assess the activity against E. multilocularis protoscolices of metformin (Met). Results indicated that JC-1 tagged E. multilocularis can be reliably and confidently used to monitor protoscolices in vitro and in vivo. The availability of this transient in vivo fluorescent imaging of E. multilocularis protoscolices constitutes an important step toward the long term bio-imaging research of the AE-infected mouse models. In addition, this will be of great interest for further research on infection strategies and development of drugs and vaccines against E. multilocularis and other cestodes.

  • This study analyzed the teacher's perception for influence of behavioral characteristics of scientifically-gifted students on general students in elementary school science class. To do this, we selected the eight elementary school teachers who were conducting the regular science classes including scientifically-gifted students belonging to the gifted education institutes in Seoul and conducted individual in-depth interviews. The analysis of the results reveal that the teachers mentioned seven behavioral characteristics of scientifically-gifted students in general elementary school science classes.: 'excellent in designing and performing experiments', 'playing a leading role in experiments', 'expressing their abundant prior knowledge frequently', 'attempting their tasks with curiosity and persistence', 'displaying scientific creativity', 'often asking scientific questions in detail', and 'expressing their opinions logically'. These behavioral characteristics of scientifically-gifted students had positive effects on general students, such as 'providing them with a successful experience in conducting experiments', 'improving understanding of science class contents', 'developing scientific thinking and reflective thinking', and 'improving their students' positive experiences about science'. However, the excessive learning-driven behaviors of scientifically-gifted students had negative effects on general students, such as 'limiting opportunities for general students to participate in classes', 'conducting passive exploration centered on results', and 'causing conflicts with general students'. Educational implications of these findings are discussed.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the difference of school life satisfaction of middle school students according to soccer school sports club participation from a practical view. The results were follows; According to the results of analysis of the school life satisfaction between participating in soccer school sports club students and non participating student, significant differences(p<.001) were found in general school life, fellowship, teachers, learning, school rules and school events. As the results of analysis of the school life satisfaction according to the participating period, no significant differences were shown in general school life, fellowship, teachers, learning, school rules and school events. As the results of analysis of the school life satisfaction according to the participating motivation, no significant differences were found in general school life, fellowship, learning, school rules and school events, but significant difference(p<.05) was found in teachers. As the result of analysis of the school life satisfaction according to the engagement time, no significant differences were shown in general school life, teachers, learning, school rules and school events, but significant difference(p<.001) was found in fellowship.

  • General anesthesia has been developed in dentistry as a type of management technique to sedate patients who may be uncontrollable or require medical consideration. However, emergency treatment for controlling pain before general anesthesia could be required due to the time for medical evaluation for general anesthesia. There is a greater possibility of developing complications under extended waiting period. A disabled patient who needs dental treatment under general anesthesia underwent pretreatment with intramuscular injection of midazolam and $N_2O-O_2$ inhalation sedation in these cases report.
