제품디자인에 있어서 젠더디자인 개념의 재정립에 관한 연구 - 냉장고의 그래픽 요소 분석을 중심으로 - (Study on the Concept of Gender Design in Product Design - Centered on analysing graphic element of refrigerator -)

  • 본 연구는 광의적 개념으로써 젠더디자인의 필요성을 말하고자 하고, 제품 디자인에서 젠더정체성을 어떻게 구현할 수 있는지 찾고자 했다. 현재 젠더디자인 연구의 현황을 본 후, 젠더 개념의 확장과 젠더디자인 개념을 재정립해야 할 필요성을 발견했다. 젠더와 동일시되는 여성성이란 특성을 분석하기 위해 특정 제품을 선정했다. 여성성을 가장 강하게 대표하는 제품군인 냉장고를 선정하여 그래픽 요소를 기준으로 분석했다. 분석 결과, 가사 공간의 냉장고에서 젠더는 상당히 국한된 개념으로 사용되고 있었다. 이미 여성이란 굳건한 고정관념이 내재했고 많은 이해관계들이 얽혀있기 때문에, 여기서는 확장된 젠더 개념 구현을 위한 대안 제시가 어렵다고 판단했다. 그래서 대안이 될 수 있는 가능성을 가진 제품군으로 디지털 기기를 제시했다. 물론 이 제품군도 냉장고와 마찬가지의 문제점을 분명히 가지고 있다. 하지만 기능, 사용 빈도, 사용 공간 등을 심도 깊게 고려한다면 젠더 의미를 확보한 디자인의 구현이 가능한 제품군이라 판단했다. 기존의 고정관념에서 벗어나 성별로 강요되지 않는 젠더 개념의 정립을 바탕으로, 젠더디자인이 사용자의 정체성을 고려하여 제품의 시각 요소를 추출할 수 있다면 정체성과 사용성의 융합이 가능할 것임을 살펴보고자 했다.

30대 성인남녀의 성별에 따른 가속도맥파 차이에 관한 연구 (Gender-Related Differences in the Second Derivative of Photoplethysmogram Waveforms in the Fourth Decade)

  • Objective: There exist gender differences in pulsatile contour waveform. Women have a greater age-related increase in left ventricular mass than do men and more likely to experience symptomatic heart failure after infarction. SDPTG (the second derivative of photoplethysmogram waveform) is a noninvasive method for evaluating the pulse wave and is correlated with age and other risk factors for atherosclerosis. We studied the effect of gender on SDPTG and made clear why the gender differences appear. Methods: To study the effects of effect factors, including height and blood pressure, on SDPTG in the fourth decade, data on height, weight, PTD (pulse transit distance), blood pressure, serum lipid levels, and SDPTG were collected in 115 laboratory healthy men and women. SDPTG is derived from double-differential processing of fingertip photoplethysmography and consists of a, b, c, and d waves in systole and an e wave in diastole; SDPTG aging index (AI) was calculated as (b-c-d-e)/a. Results: There were significant gender-related differences of SDPTG AI, height, and blood pressure. Age, height, and mean blood pressure were respectively and significantly correlated with SDPTG AI. SDPTG is dependent upon age, height, and blood pressure. Restricting analysis to SDPTG AI, age, height, and mean blood pressure, yielded that there were gender-related differences in SDPTG AI (P<0.05) which were derived from those of height (F<0.001, df=l, P=0.994). Conclusions: These new data may help to explain previous findings about age-related differences in pulsatile contour waveforms and why gender differences of SDPTG appear. The results of this study suggest that SDPTG AI, used for evaluation of biological vascular aging, should be calibrated by height as well as age and blood pressure.

크런치 운동 시 성별에 따른 부수적인 청각적 격려 적용이 정상인의 복부 근육 활성도에 미치는 영향: 단면 예비 연구 (Influence of Supplementary Verbal Encouragement According to the Gender on Abdominal Muscle Activation during Crunch Exercise in Healthy Subjects: A Cross-Sectional Pilot Study)

  • PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of supplementary verbal encouragement according to the gender on the activation of abdominal muscles during performance of crunch exercise in healthy subjects. METHODS: A Total of 32 healthy subjects (15 male and 17 female) were randomly allocated to two conditions, crunch exercise with Ki-hap and verbal encouragement with same gender (CKVS) and crunch exercise with Ki-hap and verbal encouragement with different gender (CKVD). The interventions were conducted over three trials in each condition, and measurements were performed on each subject by one examiner in three trials. The activation of rectus abdominis, external oblique, internal oblique, and transverse abdominis muscles were evaluated using electromyography (EMG) during performance of crunch exercise with Ki-hap and verbal encouragement with same gender or different gender, respectively. RESULTS: The results showed that there were no significantly difference in the activation of all abdominal muscles in those of the CKVS compared with the CKVD (p>.05). The results also showed that there were no significantly difference in the ratio of muscle activation at global muscle to that at local muscle between two conditions (p>.05). CONCLUSION: These findings demonstrated that application of the supplementary verbal encouragement by gender does not affect to activate the abdominal muscles of subject to perform a movement, at the same time, it would suggest positive evidence for improving activation of abdominal muscles.

The Relationships between Product Quality Cues and Perceived Values based on Gender Differences at a Food Select Shop

  • Purpose: The ultimate purpose of this work is to investigate gender differences in the relationships between product quality cues and perceived values at a food select shop. Specifically, this study examines the effects of internal and external cues, which are indicators of product quality, on emotional and social values based on gender differences. Research design, data and methodology: In this study, a questionnaire technique was used to collect the data necessary to test the proposed model. 183 data were collected through this technique. PLS SEM (Partial Least Squares Structured Equation Model) was used to test the research model. Results: First, there is no gender difference between intrinsic cue and emotional value. When using male and female data, there was no significant causal relationship between intrinsic cues and emotional values. Second, we found no gender difference between intrinsic cue and social value. When analyzed with female data, there was no significant causal relationship between intrinsic cue and social value. On the other hand, in the case of men, it was found that a weak causal relationship exists. Third, this study found gender difference between extrinsic cue and emotional value. In the case of men, it was found that a weak causal relationship exists, whereas in the case of women, a strong causal relationship exists between extrinsic cue and emotional value. Fourth, we found gender difference between extrinsic cue and social value. In the case of men, there was no causal relationship, whereas in the case of women, there was a strong causal relationship between extrinsic cue and social value. Finally, we found that there are moderating roles of gender in the relationship between external cues and perceived quality. Conclusions: As a result of analysis, it is necessary to focus on extrinsic clues of product in order to increase the perceived emotional and social values of women. On the other hand, in order to improve the perceived emotional and social values of men, it is necessary to pay attention to both intrinsic and extrinsic cues of product. Therefore, it is necessary to consider what clues and values are important to core customers.

한국 초등학생들의 성차: TIMSS 2011 2015 수학 학업성취도 평가를 통한 분석 (Gender differences in Korean elementary students: An analysis of TIMSS 2011 and 2015 fourth grade mathematics assessment)

  • 본 연구는 TIMSS 2011와 2015 수학 성취도 평가를 바탕으로 초등학교 4학년 남녀 간의 성차가 드러나는 문항들을 내용과 인지영역에 따라 분석하였다. 연구결과, 성차가 유의미하게 차이나는 20% 문항들에서 내용 영역별 성차를 보면 남학생은 수와 측정영역에서 여학생은 도형영역에서 상대적으로 우위에 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 인지 영역별 성차를 보면, 남학생이 지식, 적용, 추론 영역에서 여학생보다 상대적인 우위에 있는 것으로 드러났다.

  • 한국의 가족구조가 변화하면서 21세기 한부모가족은 그 형태에 있어서 다양성을 갖고 지속적으로 증가하고 있다. 저출산 고령화 사회에서의 한부모가족은 연령과 원인을 넘어서 전반적으로 증가하고 있으나 함의하고 있는 젠더성에 대해서 구체적인 분석과 정책마련이 아직도 미흡한 실정이다. 정부의 한부모가족지원사업이 가족의 다양성을 모색하고 사회공동체의 일원으로 모든 가족의 기능을 원활히 하는 것을 목적으로 한다면 젠더분석을 통하여 한부모 가족의 대다수를 차지하는 여성가구주의 탈빈곤을 모색하는 적극적인 지원이 있어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 통계와 문헌분석을 통하여 여성한부모와 남성한부모의 특수성을 구분하여 제시하였으며 이에 따른 구체적인 대안을 제안하였다. 무엇보다 한부모가족 정책은 탈빈곤 및 아동정책과 연계를 갖고 진행되어야 하며 성인지 정책으로서의 정체성을 명확하게 해야 할 것이다.

현대 패션 룩(Fashion Look)에 표현된 성(性) 정체성 (Gender Identity Expressed in Contemporary fashion)

  • This study purposes to examine the background of the sexual concept and femininity, masculinity and gender role in the fields of social psychology and cultural anthropology and investigate the traditional gender role and the fashion's changes according to its role and the examples of the masculinity and femininity expressed in the contemporary fashion and finally analyze the gender identity expressed in fashion. The image changes which appeared in the modern fashion can be considered to be Masculine Look, Garconne Look, Feminine Look, Unisex Look, Androgynous Look and Genderless Look. The Garconne Look caused lots of changes to masculinity in the 1920's along with the changes of femininity. With the effect of feminism, many females wore clothing which had been thought as male's clothing by the appearance of Masculine Look. The major formation reason of Unisex Look can be regarded as the attitude change of the society toward to females and a meaning which doesn't want the differences of the distinction of gender to appear any longer as a characteristic external factor is implied. Androgynous Look which appeared in the 1980's means the integration of femininity and masculinity which is the same meaning with 'androgyny' in itself, Not denying its gender characteristics individually, the Androgynous Look means that women aim at the masculine image in men's clothing or men do at the feminine image in women's clothing. Genderless Look can be considered to a look with a notion to wear clothing freely even in fashion transcending the border of masculinity and femininity differentiated socially and culturally.

한국인의 성별, 연령별, 지역별 나트륨과 칼륨 섭취 현황 및 기여음식 : 2010-2012년 국민건강영양조사 분석 (A Comparison of Sources of Sodium and Potassium Intake by Gender, Age and Regions in Koreans: Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) 2010-2012)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the main sources of dietary sodium and potassium intake in Koreans by gender, age and regions. Methods: We used the data from 2010-2012 KNHANES. A total of 20,387 subjects aged 8 years and older were included. Intakes were compared by gender, age (8-18, 19-49 and >50 years) and geographical regions in Korea. Dishes were classified into 28 dish groups based on cooking methods. Statistical analysis was performed by using the SAS 9.3 and SUDAAN 11.0.1 software. Results: The mean sodium intake of Koreans was $4866.5{\pm}35.9mg/day$, which was 2.4 times higher than the adequate intake (AI) of sodium for Koreans. We found that daily sodium intakes were significantly different by age, gender and regions. Men and aged over 50 years had significantly higher sodium intake than women and other age groups. The mean potassium intake in Koreans was $3002.2{\pm}19.4mg/day$ and daily potassium intakes were significantly different by age, gender and regions. Women and age 50 years and over had significantly higher potassium intakes than men and other age groups. The average Na/K ratio was $2.89{\pm}0.01$ and was highest in men and in the age group of 19-49 years. The major sources of dietary sodium were soup and stew, followed by Kimchi, noodles and dumpling, pickled vegetables and seasonings, which represented 63.1 % of total sodium intakes. Soup and stew or Kimchi were the primary sources of dietary sodium intake. The major sources of dietary potassium were cooked rice, followed by soup and stew, Kimchi, fruits and beverages. Conclusions: Sodium and potassium intakes and the major sources of those were significantly different by gender, age groups and regions. Therefore, different approaches based on gender, age and regions are needed to decrease sodium intake and increase potassium intake.

항공서비스에 대한 고객만족이 거래지속의도에 미치는 영향에 있어서 성별의 역할 (The Influence of Customer Satisfaction on Customer Loyalty and the Moderating Effect of Gender)

  • Purpose - Customer satisfaction has been considered important as a way to retain current customers. Specifically, the retention of current customers through customer satisfaction has been considered important in an industry where competition between companies is fierce. Major Korean airlines have confronted fierce competition with the growth of low cost carriers (LCCs). In order to survive, these airlines need to retain their customers. This research aims to investigate the relationships between customer satisfaction and the customer intention to remain loyal. Moreover, this study examines how the influence of customer satisfaction on customer loyalty is moderated by gender. Research design, data, and methodology - A regression model is developed in which customer satisfaction, gender, and an interaction of satisfaction and gender are predictors and the customer's intention to remain loyal is a dependent variable. To analyze this research model, data were collected from 402 university students taking a marketing class in universities in Seoul, Chung-Cheong province, and Kangwon province. After eliminating data from students who had never flown and data with missing values, a final sample of 201 was analyzed. The hypotheses were tested using SPSS 21.0. Internal reliability was supported by the results of Cronbach's α. Multiple regression was performed. Results - Empirical results showed that customer satisfaction toward the airline's service had a positive influence on the customer intention to remain loyal to the airlines. Moreover, this influence was moderated by gender. More specifically, a male customer's intention to remain loyal was more determined by his satisfaction toward airline service than a female customer's. Conclusions - This research contributes to the aviation service marketing literature by showing how customer satisfaction influences customer intention to remain loyal and how this influence is moderated by gender. More specifically, male customer loyalty is more determined by airline service satisfaction than female customers. These results have manager implications for major Korean airlines in terms of customer satisfaction and gender as ways to enhance customer retention.

영화 <로렌스 애니웨이> 에 나타난 젠더 정체성 -로렌스의 패션 이미지를 중심으로- (Gender Identity Revealed in the Movie Laurence Anyways -Focusing on the Expression of Laurence's Fashion Images-)

  • 본 연구는 프랑스계 캐나다인 영화감독 자비에 돌란의 영화 <로렌스 애니웨이>(2012)의 주인공 로렌스의 젠더 정체성을 살펴보고 내적 의미를 분석하고자 하였다. 생물학적으로 남성으로 태어났지만 여성으로 살고자 하는 로렌스의 외적 변화를 패션 이미지로 살펴보았고 이를 주디스 버틀러의 젠더 정체성 이론인 모방, 행위의 반복, 그리고 합체의 개념으로 살펴볼 수 있었으며, 그에 따른 내적 의미로 '타자의 내면화'와 '탈정체화'를 파악하였다. 로렌스는 여성성의 획득을 위해 여성의 모습을 모방하고 반복적인 행위로 그(녀)의 외적 구성을 완성해간다. 그(녀)의 반복되는 모방적 행위는 타자를 내면화하는 과정으로 해석되고 새로이 구성되어지는 주체를 시각화하는 것으로 해석할 수 있다. 탈정체화는 젠더가 시공간의 차이에 따라 다르게 구성되고 형성된 외형은 곧 내면의 외면화의 개념으로 해석되며 정체하지 않는 젠더의 유동적인 가변성을 의미화 한다. 로렌스의 '여성으로 가꾸기'는 외모를 흉내 내는 것 이상으로 재의미화 된 여성 또는 젠더를 만들고 있으며, 그것이 진정한 자기 변화이자 새로운 세상에 대한 도약으로 해석된다.
