수직관내 리튬브로마이드 수용액막의 흡수과정에 대한 비흡수가스의 영향 (Effects of Non-Absorbable Gases on the Absorption Process of Aqueous LiBr Solution Film in a Vertical Tube (II))

  • In the absorption process of water vapor in a liquid film, the composition of the gas phase, in which a non-absorbable gas is combined with the absorbate influences the transport characteristics remarkably. In the present study, the absorption processes of water vapor into aqueous solution of lithium bromide in the presence of non-absorbable gases were investigated analytically. The continuity, momentum, energy and diffusion equations for the solution film and gas phase were formulated in integral forms and solved numerically. It was found that the mass transfer resistance in gas phase increased with the concentration of non-absorbable gas. However the primary resistance to mass transfer was in the liquid phase. As the concentration of non-absorbable gas in the absorbate increased, the liquid-vapor interfacial temperature and concentration of absorbate in solution decreased, which resulted in the reduction of absorption rate. The reduction of mass transfer rate was found to be significant for the addition of a small amount of non-absorbable gas to the pure vapor, especially at the outlet of an absorber where non-absorbable gases accumulated. At higher non-absorbable gas concentration, the decrease of absorption flux was almost linear to the volumetric concentration of non-absorbable gas.

  • A dual micro gas sensor array was fabricated using nano sized $SnO_2$ thin films which had good sensitivities to CO and combustible gases, or $H_2S$ gas for air quality sensors in automobile. The already existed air quality sensor detects oxidizing gases and reducing gases, the air quality sensor(AQS), located near the fresh air inlet detected the harmful gases, the fresh air inlet door/ventilation flap was closed to reduce the amount of pollution entering the vehicle cabin through HVAC(heating, ventilating, and air conditioning) system. In this study, to make $SnO_2$ thin film AQS sensor, thin tin metal layer between 1000 and $2000{\AA}$ thick was oxidized between 600 and $800^{\circ}C$ by thermal oxidation. The gas sensing layers such as $SnO_2$, $SnO_2$(pt) and $SnO_2$(+CuO) were patterned by metal shadow mask for simple fabrication process on the silicon substrate. The micro gas sensors with $SnO_2$(+Pt) and $SnO_2$(CuO) showed good selectivity to CO gas among reducing gases and good sensitivity to $H_2S$ that is main component of bad odor, separately.

  • Despite the increasingly stringent automotive emissions regulations, the impact of vehicle emissions on air pollution remains large. In addition, since the issue of emission of more exhaust gas than the exhaust gas measured in the test room when the vehicle passing the exhaust gas regulation standard is run on the actual road, many countries studied and introduced gas regulations about Real Driving Emission using Portable Emission Measurement System. At present, Korea regulations restrict the number of NOx and PN in diesel vehicles. In the case of gasoline vehicles, there is no regulation on emission gas, but there is a problem of continuing automobile exhaust gas problems and a large amount of gasoline GDI vehicle's PN emission. So research and interest are increasing due to this problem. In this study, characteristics of exhaust gas depending on changes of ambient temperature were analyzed among various factors affecting exhaust gas measurement of gasoline vehicles. As a result, at the low temperature test, the lower the ambient temperature, the more the exhaust gas was emitted. At ordinary temperature test, no specific tendency was observed due to changes of ambient temperature.

Bench-scale 연소로에서 가스 혼소를 통한 초 저 NOx 석탄 버너 개발 연구 (Experimental Evaluation of Developed Ultra-low NOx Coal Burner Using Gas in a Bench-scale Single Burner Furnace)

  • 본 연구는 80 kW 연소로에서 초 저 NOx 버너를 개발하고 실험한 결과를 나타낸 것이다. 실험은 80 kW 단일 버너 연소로에서 진행되었으며, swirl number 변화, 총 당량비, 1차 / 2차 산화제 비율을 변경하여 진행하였다. 본 연구에서는 가스(LNG)를 보조연료로 사용하여 NOx 생성량을 크게 감소 시킬 수 있었다. 화력발전소에서 석탄 연소 시 발생하는 NOx의 양은 약 300 ppm이다. 그러나 본 연구에서 사용된 버너는 LNG를 혼소하여 NOx의 양을 40 ppm까지 감소 시킬 수 있었다. 1차 산화제의 투입량이 보조 연료인 가스가 연소될 만큼만 사용하여 가스와 석탄을 동시에 투입하면 연소가스가 버너 출구에서 고온영역을 형성하여 석탄을 휘발시키므로 N 탈휘발에 포함되어 배출된다. 그러므로 이 후 석탄이 연소 되면 석탄내 포함된 N이 거의 없기 때문에 NOx 생성량이 감소하는 것이다. 본 연구 결과를 바탕으로 실제 화력발전소 버너를 개발한다면 NOx 생성을 연소 초기에 대량 감소시킬 수 있을 것으로 예상된다.

마랑고니 대류에 미치는 불응축성가스의 영향 (Noncondensable Gas Effects on the Marangoni Convection)

  • The study presents experimental and theoretical analysis focusing on the infulence of a noncondensable gas upon the absorption enhancement that is obtained by Marangoni convection generated by the addition of the surfactant. The shadowgraph method is adopted in this visualization. As a result of absorption phenomena with shadowgraph photos, the different patterns of Marangoni convection cells are observed in accordance with the various amounts of noncondensable gas. Furthermore, non dimensional number K(Ma/Ra) is introduced to calculate the value of surface tension difference theoretically for the comparison with the various amount of non condensable gas in absorber.

마이크로 가스터빈의 탈설계 운전 성능특성 (Performance Characteristics for Off-design Operation of Micro Gas Turbines)

  • Micro gas turbines are designed with low turbine inlet temperature and pressure ratio. To overcome the efficiency defect of the simple cycle, adoption of the recuperator is an inevitable choice. In addition to the design performance, we should also pay attention to the off-design performance of gas turbines since they usually operate at part-load conditions lot a considerable amount of their lifetime. This study analyzes off-design performance characteristics of micro gas turbines and addresses the importance of the recuperation process doting the part load operation. Comparative analyses have been performed to evaluate the part load performance differences among various design and operating options : simple vs recuperative cycles, single vs two shaft configurations, various operating strategies for the single shaft configuration, and current vs advanced engines. Major finding is that maintaining high turbine exhaust temperature is crucial for efficient operation of micro gas turbines.

도시폐기물 매립지의 LFG 특성이 침하에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Municipal LFG Characteristics on Settlement)

  • The amount of $CO_2$ and $CH_4$ that were produced during biodegradation with were measured as function of time. Also, the settlements of landfill lysimeters were measured at the same time, and the relation with LFF(landfill gas) production was investigated. The effects of leachate recycle on the acceleration of settlement were studied by comparing two lysimeters. The gas production rate constant, $^{\kappa}_{LFG}$ is obtained to predict future gas production and settlement. These will be key role factors to predict gas production patterns and residual long-term settlement.

고분자 연료전지 스택에서 질소 크로스오버 특성에 관한 연구 (Characterization of Nitrogen Gas Crossover in PEM Fuel Cell Stacks)

  • Crossover of nitrogen from cathode to anode is inevitable in typical membranes used in PEM fuel cells. This crossovered nitrogen normally accumulates in the hydrogen recirculation system at anode side channels. Excessive buildup of nitrogen in the anode side lowers the relative hydrogen concentration and finally affects the performance of fuel cell stack. So it is very important to analysis the nitrogen gas crossover at various operating conditions. In this study, characterization of nitrogen gas crossover in PEM fuel cell stack was investigated. The mass spectroscopy (MS) has been applied to measure the amount of the crossovered nitrogen gas at the anode exit. Results show that nitrogen gas crossover rate was affected by current density, anode and cathode stoichiometric ratio and operating pressure. Current density, anode stoichiometric ratio and anode operating pressure do not affect nitrogen crossover rate but anode exit concentration of nitrogen. Cathode pressure and stoichiometric ratio largely affect the nitrogen crossover rate.

Recent Trends of Light-enhanced Metal Oxide Gas Sensors: Review

  • Recent light-enhanced metal oxide gas sensors are reviewed in this article. The basic mechanisms of a light-enhanced metal oxide gas sensor are discussed. Many literatures reveal that the standalone sensitivity and the response/recovery time enhancements enabled by the exposing light are not as high as the performance enhancement provided by external heating. Therefore, both optimal amount of external heating and exposed light intensity are necessary to increase the performance of these light-enhanced gas sensors. The development of highly light sensitive materials and structures is important to lower the overall power consumptions of the sensors.

  • Effects of process variables of HCD ion plating on the film composition of Ti(C, N) were analyzed. The mole ratio of carbon to nitrogen and that of non-metal to titanium in the film primarily depend on the partial pressure ratio of ($C-2H_2$/ $N_2$) and total reactive gas pressure, respectively. The amount of nonmetallic com-ponents increases in nonlinear fashion as the total gas pressure due to the different reactivity of $C-2H_2$ and $N_2$ gases with Ti. The nonmetallic components was saturated dwith nitrogen when the nitrogen gas was more than 60% of total reactive gas. These two process variables could be related systematically using the concept of effective pressure in which the difference of reactivity of each gas was normalized.
