Endocarditis associated with Escherichia coli was diagnosed in a 2-year-old male sea lion (Zalopus californianus). At necropsy, the heart had biventricular dilation with marked attenuation of the apex. Verrucous, grayish-red, vegetative lesions were present in both the aortic and left AV valves. Several discrete hyperemia-rimmed infarcts were noted in the kidneys. (omitted)

The purpose of this study is to find the characteristics of planning factors to the outdoor space of the olympic village munchen. The result of the research are follows; 1) The horizontal gardens of the low buildings and hanging gardens on the terraces of the high-rise buildings are intended as a continuation of the concept of the modelled landscape. 2) By virtue of the choice of the type of building and the way in which the buildings are staggered, the residents have an unimpaired view of the green spaces and recreation areas. 3) Leisure value is further enhanced by the proximity of the residential arms to the footpath running north to south. 4) The terraces allow the residents to enjoy more sun and sky, so that the view into the distance is the rule. 5) To improve orientation, the pedestrian paths to the residential wings are also situated directly over the underground vehicle-access roads.

A case of avian tuberculosis is reported in a 10-year-old female Mandarin duck (Aix galericulata). Numerous multi focal to coalescing, caseo-necrotic granulomas in variable sizes were scattered throughout the major parenchymal organs. Histologically, the granulomas have caseonecrotic and occasionally mineralized centers that are surrounded by macrophages, epithelioid cells and Langerhan's type multinucleated giant cells and then by lymphocytes and a few plasma cells and fibrosis. Ziehl - Neelsen's stain revealed myriads of acid-fast bacterial rods present in the cytoplasms of macrophages and multinucleated giant cells.

The mortalities of exotic felids that have been raised in Everland Zoological Gardens within a designated period (1976∼2001) were retrospectively analyzed based on the clinical charts and/or autopsy reports. During that period, a total of 154 exotic folios from 5 species were died. Noninfectious and traumatic factors, respiratory and digestive disorders account for the majority of cause of death. 40% of the death was concentrated in the winter season. The mortality of female and male was 55% and 45% respectively. The mortality of newborn folios(57%) were significantly higher than that of adult(32% and juvenile felids(11%) due to neonatal problems.

A case of mammary gland adenocarcinoma is reported in a 22-year-old female Mandril (Mandrillus sphinix). The veterinarian noted a fast growing mass, which was inflammed and perforated, involving both mammary gland during the last 4 months. Supplement antibiotic and chemotherpay were unsucessful and the monkey was found dead. On necropsy, both right and left mannary gland were replaced by firm, tan, perforating neoplastic mass. 현재 중국에서는 100개 이상의 식물원이 있으며, 대부분의 식물원은 희귀식물이나 멸종위기 식물의 생식질 자원을 보유하고 있다. 중국의 식물원에서 현지 외 보전과 이와 관련한 일을 수행하기 위하여 1999년 REPC-CBG-DATA라는 데이터베이스를 구축하였다. 본 데이터베이스 구축 결과에 따라 중국내 389종의 희귀 및 멸종위기 식물에 대한 다양한 정보와 보전상태를 분류하였으며, 이를 토태로 관리보전에 활용할 수 있게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 중국 내 희귀 및 멸종위기 식물의 보전을 위하여 각 식물원에 수집된 식물종을 대상으로 REPC-CBG-DATA를 바탕으로 각 해당 식물종의 관리에 대하여 토론하였다.

Camellia tuyenquangensis (Theaceae), a new yellow species of camellia from the Chiem Hoa district of the Tuyen Quang province in Vietnam, is described and illustrated. Camellia tuyenquangensis is similar to Camellia luongii but different from the latter species in several morphological features: leaves oblong-ovate to narrow elliptic; flowers 1-2; bracteoles glabrous on both sides; sepal margins ciliate; style cleft one half of the length. The morphological data provisionally support its placement in Camellia sect. Chrysantha Chang.

In recent years in Japan, derelict land by aging fanners has increased at the same time as the desire of city dwellers for a more natural, leisurely lifestyle. In response, an increasing number of citizens' farms(or 'allotment gardens') have opened in and around urban areas. Citizens' farms with overnight accommodation are known as 'kleingartens'. As a case study, we evaluated a kleingarten in the town of Suo-oshima by interviewing the resident caretaker and conducting a questionnaire survey of facility users. Our survey revealed a number of ways in which the facility could be improved to meet user needs. The case study also suggested that kleingartens are an effective means of revitalizing local communities in rural areas.

Two new species of Camellia (Theaceae) are described from Vietnam: Camellia vuquangensis Luong, Tran & L. T. Nguyen and Camellia hatinhensis Luong, Tran & L. T. Nguyen. The new taxa were collected from Vu Quang National Park in the center of Vietnam. The new finds are morphologically dissimilar to all known Camellia species. Recent Camellia discoveries have increased the number of species recorded in Vietnam from 50 to 75, making Vietnam a center of diversity and a crucial area for more research into the diversity and distributions of Camellia.

The importance of ecosystem service such as green spaces has risen due to restrictions on outdoor activities amid the climate crisis and COVID-19. While gardens significantly impact economic development, quality of life, and social well-being, comprehensive studies on their multidimensional values are lacking. This research categorizes garden values into social, cultural, environmental, and health dimensions and proposes an integrated assessment framework that introduces detailed elements and evaluation methods. An empirical assessment of carbon storage index in two Korean gardens, Semiwon and Juknokwon, reveals Semiwon's higher carbon storage per unit area. The proposed framework, emphasizing a quantitative approach, enables cross-national and regional comparisons, contributing to a broader understanding and evaluation of garden values beyond specific facilities.
