A series of numerical experiments is performed to compare the characteristics of outflow hydrograph using linear and nonlinear Muskingum-Cunge methods for two cases: (a) sinusoidal inflow hydrographs and (b) rainfall inputs. The nonlinear method shows the steepening of the rising limb, coupled with a corresponding flattening of the receding limb. The linear method conserves mass exactly. In contrast, the nonlinear method is subject to a gain and a loss of mass. The loss of mass and the subsidence of peak outflow increases with a mild slope, a small baseflow $q_b$ and a large peak inflow to baseflow ratio $q_p/q_b$. A shock wave and associated numerical instability results in the increase of mass for a steep slope and a large $q_p/q_b$ ratio. While the linear method depends on the reference flow per unit-width, the nonlinear method depends on a baseflow and the $q_p/q_b$ ratio. It is found that, unlike for the sinusoidal inflow, the outflow for the rainfall inputs conserves mass fairly exactly in the nonlinear method.

In this paper, we designed axis-displaced Gregorian antenna by using Ray-tracing method. This antenna improves gain, VSWR by rotating the axis of the sub-reflector to get rid of E-field wave returned from sub-reflector to feed horn. Therefore it reduce the sub-reflector size and the volume of antenna. This method is used to track the propagation path for radiation pattern of feed horn from feed horn to sub-reflector, main-reflector and air. We get E-field distribution of this antenna aperture and calculate antenna radiation pattern and optimize the antenna performance. The Ray-tracing Method was verified because the gain, radiation patterns, side lobe level, beam width and return loss of the designed antenna are very similar to CST simulation result and a measured result of the fabricated antenna.

Chemical modification of wood is an effective method to enhance the biological durability of wood with no toxic effect on the environment. In this study, wood of Triplochiton scleroxylon was modified using acetylation techniques. A total of one hundred wood blocks, (each 20×20×60 mm) obtained from a 22-year old T. scleroxylon tree were conditioned and acetylated at 120℃ in a bioreactor containing acetic anhydride for 60, 120, 180, 240 and 300 minutes. The percentage weight gain of acetylated wood was determined. The untreated (control) and treated blocks were exposed to Pleurotus ostreatus (white rot fungus) and Fibroporia vaillanti (brown rot fungus) after which moisture content (MC) and weight loss (WL) was monitored for 16 weeks. Data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics at p<0.05 level of significance. The percentage weight gain of acetylated wood samples increased with time from 10.4% (60 minutes) to 22.7% (300 minutes). MC of untreated blocks inoculated with Pleurotus ostreatus was significantly higher than those of Fibroporia vaillantii after 16 weeks exposure. There was no significant difference in the MC of the of the acetylated samples for the two fungi after 300 minutes reaction time. The WL of untreated blocks inoculated with Fibroporia vaillantii was higher than those of Pleurotus ostreatus, however, the two fungi showed no significant difference in the WL for the acetylated samples after 16 weeks exposure. Acetylation prevents moisture absorption and inhibition of fungi growth in acetylated wood compared to untreated wood, thereby enhancing the durability of Triplochiton scleroxylon.

Low noise amplifier (LNA) is an integral component of RF receiver and frequently required to operate at wide frequency bands for various wireless system applications. For wideband operation, important performance metrics such as voltage gain, return loss, noise figure and linearity have been carefully investigated and characterized for the proposed LNA. An inductive shunt feedback configuration is successfully employed in the input stage of the proposed LNA which incorporates cascaded networks with a peaking inductor in the buffer stage. Design equations for obtaining low and high impedance-matching frequencies are easily derived, leading to a relatively simple method for circuit implementation. Careful theoretical analysis explains that input impedance can be described in the form of second-order frequency response, where poles and zeros are characterized and utilized for realizing the wideband response. Linearity is significantly improved because the inductor located between the gate and the drain decreases the third-order harmonics at the output. Fabricated in $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process, the chip area of this wideband LNA is $0.202mm^2$, including pads. Measurement results illustrate that the input return loss shows less than -7 dB, voltage gain greater than 8 dB, and a little high noise figure around 6-8 dB over 1.5 - 13 GHz. In addition, good linearity (IIP3) of 2.5 dBm is achieved at 8 GHz and 14 mA of current is consumed from a 1.8 V supply.

Small size and low profile antenna for mobile vehicular-top-mounted is needed in satellite communication services such as DBS, Satellite Internet and VSAT. In middle latitudes, the development of an array antenna which has the conformal, low profile and 45 degree beam tilted configuration, and has the high gain with sharp beamwidth, low sidelobe and low loss is required for Ka band satellite communication. In this paper, in order to meet with these performances, an array antenna consisting of the vertical polarized waveguide longitudinal slots based on the leaky-wave mode of traveling wave antenna is proposed. Especially, for the lower sidelobe level the radiation power control using a design method of the different slot width is proposed. An array antenna consisting of 32 leakywave elements is showing 34.4 dBi of gain, 3.6 degree of beamwidth, below than -25 dB of sidelobe level, 43 degree of beam tilt angle in center frequency 20.0 GHz. Feed network designed by waveguide cooperated feed shows good performance of wideband and low loss.

A free sparse transmission method using X-band standard gain horn antenna is applied to measure the attenuation and phase shift of microwave signal through the wetted grain such as rough rice, brown rice and barley. The moisture content of grain varied from 11 to 25% based on its wetted condition. The dielectric constant and loss factor, which depend on the moisture content of the wetted grain are obtained from the measured attenuation and phase shift by vector network analyzer. The measured values of dielectric constants as a function of moisture density are compared with values of those obtained using the predicted model for estimating dielectric constants of grain.
Linear motor is able to produce line movement without rotary-to-line converter at the system required line moving. Thus Linear motor has no gear, screw, belt for line movement. Therefore it has some advantage which decrease friction loss, noise, vibration, maintenance effort and prevent decay of control performance due to backlash. This paper proposes the estimation method of unknown parameters from the BLDC Linear motor and determine the PI controller gain through this estimation. Each control movement that is current, speed, position control, and PWM wave generation is performed on Processor, which is DSP(Digital Signal Processor), having high speed performance. PI theory is adopted to each for controller for control behavior More fast convergence to command position is accomplished by applying the new velocity locus which derived from position error.
The mean-line method using empirical models is the most practical method of predicting off-design performance. To gain insight into the empirical models, the influence of empirical models on the performance prediction results is investigated. We found that, in the two-zone model, the secondary flow mass fraction has a considerable effect at high mass flow-rates on the performance prediction curves. In the TEIS model, the first element changes the slope of the performance curves as well as the stable operating range. The second element makes the performance curves move up and down as it increases or decreases. It is also discovered that the slip factor affects pressure ratio, but it has little effect on efficiency. Finally, this study reveals that the skin friction coefficient has significant effect on both the pressure ratio curve and the efficiency curve. These results show the limitations of the present empirical models, and more resonable empirical models are reeded.
Burn-in is an engineering method for screening out products containing reliability defects which would cause early failures in field operation. Previously, various burn-in models have been proposed mainly focused on the trade-off of shop repair cost and warranty cost ignoring manufacturing yield. From the view point of a manufacturer, however, burn-in decreases warranty cost at the expense of yield reduction. In this paper, we provide a general model quantifying a trade-off between product yield and reliability, in which any defect distribution from previous yield models can be used. A profit function is expressed in burn-in environments for determining an optimal burn-in time. Finally, the method is illustrated with gate oxide failures which is an important reliability concerns for VLSI CMOS circuits.
In this paper, we propose a new antenna, which has wide bandwidth, good radiation patterns, and high-gain characteristics. We analysis the antenna using FDTD(Finite Difference Time Domain) method. And the antenna parameters are optimized to get maximum bandwidth. From the measured results, the bandwidth of the antenna is 0.839 octave, for the S11${\leq}$-10 dB. And the measured cross polarization level of the proposed antenna is less than -25 dB at the center frequency. Experimental data of the return loss and the radiation pattern of the proposed antenna are also presented, and the experimental bandwidth characteristics are relatively in good agreement with the FDTD results. The proposed antenna can be applied to MIMO, LAN, biomedical instruments, broadcasting-network system.
