Water vapor is an important parameter in monitoring changes in the Earth's climate and it can be used to improve weather forecasting. However, it haven't observed accurately by reasons of structural and economic problem of observation. GPS meteorology technique for precipitable water vapor measurement is currently actively being researched an advanced nation. Main issue of GPS meteorology is an accuracy of PWV measurement related weighted mean temperature and meteorological data. In this study, the korean weighted mean temperature had been recalculated by a linear regression method based on meteorological observations from 6 radiosonde stations for 2003 year. We examined the accuracy of PWV estimates from GPS observations and Radiosonde observations by new korean weighted mean temperature and others.

Typhoon RUSA, which caused serious damage was passed over in Korea peninsula during 30 August to 1 September, 2002. We estimated tropospheric wet delay using GPS data and meteorological data during this period. Integrated Water Vapor(IWV) gives the total amount of water vapor from tropospheric wet delay and Precipitable Water Vapor(PWV) is calculated the IWV scaled by the density of water. We obtained GPS PWV at 13th GPS permanent stations(Seoul, Wonju. Seosan, Sangju, Junju, Cheongju, Taegu, Wuljin, Jinju, Daejeon, Mokpo, Sokcho, Jeju). We retrieve GPS data hourly and use Gipsy-Oasis II software and we compare PWV and precipitation. GPS observed PWV time series demonstrate that PWV is, in general, high before and during the occurrence of the typhoon RUSA, and low after the typhoon RUSA. GPS PWV peak time at each station is related to the progress of a typhoon RUSA. We got very near result as we compare GMS Satellite image with tomograph using GPS PWV and we could present practical use possibility by numerical model for weather forecast.
We detected the coseismic ionospheric disturbance generated by the earthquakes of magnitude 5.0 and greater in Korean Peninsula. We considered the seismic events such as Gyeongju earthquake in September 2016 with magnitude 5.8, the Pohang earthquake in November 2017 with magnitude 5.4, and the underground nuclear explosion from North Korea in September 2017 with magnitude 5.7. Although all GPS stations were not detected, the ionospheric disturbance induced by these earthquakes occurred approximately 10-30 minutes and 40-60 minutes after the events. We inferred that the time difference within each variation is due to the different focal depth and the geometry of epicenter, satellite, and GPS station. In the case of the Gyeongju earthquake, the earthquake had relatively deeper depth than the other earthquakes. However, the seismic magnitude was bigger and it occurred at nighttime when the ionospheric activity was stable. So we could observe such anomalous variations. It is considered that the ionospheric disturbance caused by the difference in velocity of the upward propagating waves generated by earthquake appears more than once. Our results indicate that the detection of ionospheric disturbances varies depending on the geometry of the GPS station, satellite, and epicenter or the detection method and that the apparent growth of amplitude in the time series varies depending on the focal depth or the site-satellite-epicenter geometry.
The cost of deploying Geological and Environmental information gathering systems, especially when such systems obtain remote sensing and photographic data through the use of commercial satellites and aircraft. Besides the high cost equipment required, adverse weather conditions can further restrict a researcher's ability to collect data anywhere and anytime. To mitigate this problem, we have developed a compact, multi-spectral automatic Aerial photographic system. This system's Multi-spectral camera is capable of the visible (RGB) and infrared (NIR) bands (3032*2008 pixel). It consists of a thermal infrared camera and automatic balance control, and can be managed by a palm-top computer. Other features includes a camera gimbal system, GPS receiver, weather sensor among others. We have evaluated the efficiency of this system in several field tests at the following locations: Kyongsang-bukdo beach, Nakdong river (at each site of mulkeum-namji and koryung-gumi), and Kyungahn River. Its tested ability in aerial photography, weather data, as well as GPS data acquisition demonstrates its flexibility as a tool for environmental data monitoring.

Since GPS's SA cancellation, the interest is converged in correction of errors such as atmospheric delay and multipath that weight had been small relatively, which can improve the accuracy of positioning through modelling research. The aim of this study have an extensive comparison of the various tropospheric delay models (Goad&Goodman, A&K, Hopfield and Sasstamoinen) and mapping functions(Niell, Chao, and Marini). Expecially, the tropospheric delay amounts by change of the GPS satellite elevations, and the delay by various combination between zenith delay models and mapping functions, compared and examined. For this, programmed the total delay models and the combined models which can be described as a product of the delay at the zenith and a mapping function. The result of study, especially, as the minimum elevation of included data is reduced under $10^{\circ}$, it was considered to be reasonable that the prediction of tropospheric delay considering combination and mapping character of functions about the transition of the zenith delay to a delay with arbitrary zenith angle.

The GPS signal delays in troposphere, which are along the signal path between a transmitting satellite and GPS permanent station, can be used to retrieve the precipitable water vapor. The GPS remote sensing technique of atmospheric water vapor is capable of monitoring typhoon and detecting long term water vapor for tracking of earth’s climate change. In this study, we analyzed GPS precipitable water vapor variations during the heavy snowstorm event occurred in the Yeongdong area, 2014. The results show that the snowfall event were occurring after the GPS precipitable water vapor were increased, the maximum fresh snow depth was recorded after the maximum GPS precipitable water vapor was generated, in Kangneug and Wuljin, respectively. Also, we analyzed that the closely correlation among the GPS precipitable water vapor, the K-index and total index which was acquired by the upper air observation system during this snowstorm event was revealed.

Mark point(Donghaksan) of Korean geodetic datum in Suwon could not be intervisible because of the development of the surroundings, so we were in a situation that we should establish new mark point and decide azimuth of the new mark point. Getting out of the intervisibility between control stations, refraction error and effect of illumination in urban area, our research team decided new azimuth of Suwon Geodetic Datum by GPS surveying for accuracy and economical efficiency. First we corrected and supplemented the specification on the decision of azimuth in accordance with our situation based on the study of foreign studies by using GPS, and we determined and analyzed the accuracy of the new azimuth through organizing and observing the GPS network.

Signals from the Global Positioning System(GPS) satellite are used to retrieve the integrated amount of water vapor or the precipitable water vapor(PWV) along the path between a transmitting satellite and ground-based receiver. In order to retrieve the PWV from GPS signal delay in the troposphere, the actual zenith wet delay, which can be derived by extracting the zenith total delay and subtracting the actual zenith hydrostatic delay computed using surface pressure observing, will be needed. Since it has been not co-located between GPS permanent station and automated weather station, the air-pressure on the mean sea level has been used to determine the actual zenith hydrostatic delay. The directly use of this air-pressure has been caused the dilution of precision on GPS PWV retrieval. In this study, Korean reverse sea level correction method of air-pressure was suggested for the improving of GPS PWV retrieval capability and the accuracy of water vapor estimated by GPS was evaluated through a comparison with radiosonde PWV.

The calculation of astronomic latitude and longitude have been carried by astrolabe, theodolite. Conventional procedures to determine it require clear weather conditions, time high cost. So we need more effective method to decide them. The objective here is to present method to computate astronomic latitude and longitude by mixing GPS observation result and geodetic height. Also to decide geodetic height we used GPS/leveling, DMA(n=m=180) and OSU91A(n=m=360) methods. Compared to conventional procedures we could obtain astronomic latitude and longitude using GPS by $1{\sim}3'$ difference. If the precise geoid model of Korea will be developed, we can compute astronomic latitude and longitude effectively using GPS observation only.

Conventional procedures to determine vertical deflections and astronomical coordinates require the stellar observations which be under restraints of clear night-time weather conditions, surrounding environment, long observation time and the use of instruments, etc. Therefore the more effective observation method subjugatting these problems has requested. The objective of this study is to propose method to compute vertical deflections, astronomical coordinates(latitude and longitude), and astronomical azimuth by mixing GPS observation results and orthometric heights. For this study, programmed the program which able to obtain the change in geoid undulation by using the GPS- determined geodetic height difference and the orthometric height difference, and GPS satellite surveying was performed at both ten points of astronomical points and four triangulation points around each astronomical station in South Korea. The Astronomical results determined from GPS observations compared to those determined from both conventional astronomical measurements and the recent earth gravitational Model(EGM96).
