This study was conducted to establish the proper techniques of the recirculating wick hydroponics for safe seed tuber proliferation of potatoes (Solanum tuberosum L. CV. Dejima). To achieve these, several intact tubers (5, 10 and 20 g) and cut seed-pieces (two or four) were treated in wick hydroponic system beds. A polystyrene box (31cm in width, 20cm in height, 51cm in length, and $0.031m^3$ in volume) was placed on a styrofoam hox. Eight wicks $(width\;1.5cm\;{\times}\;length\;40cm) $ were put into each polystyrene hox and the boxes were filled with perlite + peatmoss (1 : 2, v/v) medium. Top fresh weight per plant increased with increasing the tuber size from 10 to 30g/tuber. As the tuber size increases from 10 to 30 g/tuher in case of uncut tuber, the marketable tuber (>5g) production per plant increased from 83.8 to 141.8 g/plant and the marketable tuber (>5g) production per plant of cut tuber was slightly higher than that of uncut treatment. Total tuber yield ranged from 4.16 to $6.56kg/m^2$ and the percentage of seed tubers was greater than $97\%$ for all treatments. These results indicate that seed tuber should be cut to produce large tuber $(\geq10g)$ in the recirculating wick hydroponic system.
Objectives : The purpose of this study is to determine new source of FRUTUS GLEDITSIAE and SPINA GLEDITSIAE. The security of personal informations has been an important issue since the field of smart card applications has been expanded explosively. The security of smart card is based on cryptographic algorithms, which are highly required to be implemented into hardware for higher speed and stronger security. In this paper, a SEED cryptographic processor is designed by employing one round key generation block which generates 16 round keys without key registers and one round function block which is used iteratively. Both the round key generation block and the F function are using only one G function block with one 5${\times}$l MUX sequentially instead of 5 G function blocks. The proposed SEED processor has been implemented such that each round operation is divided into seven sub-rounds and each sub-round is executed per clock. Functional simulation of the proposed cryptographic processor has been executed using the test vectors which are offered by Korea Information Security Agency. In addition, we have evaluated the proposed SEED processor by executing VHDL synthesis and FPGA board test. The die area of the proposed SEED processor decreases up to approximately 40% compared with the conventional processor.
The Green growth has been demanded in all industrial sectors due to environmental destruction and exhaustion of natural resources. Buildings have consumed 1/3 of the total energy and 40% of natural resources and have accounted for 50% of $CO_2$ emissions and 30-50% of waste materials. In 1991, BREEAM(Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) of the British BRE(Building Research Establishment) had begun reduction of $CO_2$ emissions and energy saving movements, in which all the countries around the world have participated. The Republic of Korea has taken part in this trend by declaring a "National Vision in the Green Growth" in 2008 and implementing regulations on "Low Carbon, Green Growth" in 2010. G-SEED(Green Standard for Energy and Environmental Design) based on GBCS(Green Building Certification System) has been actively promoted for its application. This study has limited its scope to G-SEED office buildings. It has conducted surveys of problems and assessment items of the G-SEED identified in the preceding study by the AHP(Analytic hierarchy process) method. The purpose of this study is to conduct a comparison analysis of problems and ranking of evaluation items recognized in the survey and to be presented as reference materials for G-SEED system improvements at its next amendments.

Cigarette filters containing Brassica Rapa L. seeds of the dark brown and round shaped were evaluated to determine the effect of seed addition on filter degradability. The seeds with germination capability under the tar/nicotine condition in the preliminary test, were put into the active carbon part of the filter(12mm) during filter rod making by the kit. The $4{\pm}2$ pieces of the seeds were put into the opened fiber bundle of the filter tow. In order to test the germination rate of the seeds, seed filters were placed either in a petri dish or test-pot in a conditioned area ($25^{\circ}C$, 70 % RH). The seed filters were placed outdoors exposed to natural conditions with the periodic water supply. The seeds in the smoked filters showed 90 % germination rate after a month under the open air condition. No significant differences in the sensory evaluation and analysis were obtained when the control sample was compared to the same cigarettes with the seeds.
The plant growth and yield of Pinellia ternata (Thunb.) Breit. were studied by altitude and tuber weight. The emergence rates in low land area were not different by tuber weights, but it showed earlier emergence date in heavier weight of seed-tuber and low land area. The higher aerial growth such as plant height and number of leaves per plant was the heavier tuber weight in a planting year, but the growth was not different by the weight of tuber at second year after planting. The distribution pattern of tuber size per $m^2$ was not influenced by different seed-tuber weight. The number of harvested tuber was highest at more than 1 g of tuber weight, and followed 1~2 g and less than 2 g. The distribution pattern of fresh tuber yield was not influenced by different altitude and seed-tuber weight. The marketable tuber, 2 g or more, tends to be produced with more than 0.6 g seed-tuber. As the results above-mentioned, it was thought that the high yield was supposed to use seed-tuber over 0.6 g in the fertile soil.
This study was carried out to identify the cause of benzo(a)pyrene[B(a)P] production during the manufacture of sesame oil and perilla oil, and to minimize such B(a)P synthesis. The distribution of B(a)P in sesame seed and perilla seed differed with seed-growing district, the range was $0.06{\sim}0.31{\mu}g/kg$ in domestic seed and $0.12{\sim}0.47{\mu}g/kg$ in imported seed. B(a)P contents after roasting at $220^{\circ}C$ for 20 min in sesame seed and perilla seed were $1.87{\sim}2.47{\mu}g/kg$ and $2.12{\sim}2.43{\mu}g/kg$, respectively, and levels in oils obtained from the roasted seeds were $3.68{\mu}g/kg$ and $4.64{\mu}g/kg$, respectively. These data refer to seeds subjected to codsed roasting. With open roasting, the levels were $0.63{\mu}g/kg$ and $0.56{\mu}g/kg$, respectively. Closed roasting resulted in absorption of B(a)P, with consequent high levels in oils. We introduced forced ventilation during closed roasting. We tested various methods to remove B(a)P from sesame oil and perilla oil. Neither centrifugation nor filtering with diatomite and diatomiteactive carbon removed B(a)P. A filtering method using active carbon was effective. But this method adversely affected the color and flavor of sesame oil and perilla oil.
Including crude fat content, triacylglycerol species, tocopherols and phytosterols were analyzed in 8 kinds of nuts (sunflower seed, cashew nut, walnut, pistachio, pumpkin seed, ginkgo, hazel nut and pecan). The extracted crude fats showed 0.63~39.60 wt%, among which hazel nut showed the highest amount of fat content. Oleic acid (C18:1) was major fatty acids at sn-2 position in cashew nut, pistachio, hazel nut, and pecan while sunflower seed, walnut, and pumpkin seed showed linoleic acid (C18:2) as a major fatty acids at sn-2 position. Especially, ginkgo contained 10.72 wt% of vaccenic acid (C18:1-n7) at sn-2 position. The TAG species of 8 kinds of nuts were analyzed by reverse-phase HPLC, from which PN value ranged 40~52. Among the analyzed nuts, higher content of tocopherols were observed in ginkgo (48.57 mg/100 g), sunflower seed (38.35 mg/100 g), and pumpkin seed(31.43 mg/100 g). Total phytosterols were observed with the range of 88.60~947.20 mg/100 g.
Seeds of wheat (Triticum aestivum L. cv. Olgeurumil) were infected with Penicillium sp. at mean infection rate of 83%. Penicillium sp. was detected in endosperm with bran but not in embryo. Gaseous chlorine dioxide ($ClO_2$) effectively inhibited growth of Penicillium sp. at concentration of 5 to $20{\mu}g/ml$. As treatment duration was extended from 1 to 3 h, growth of Penicillium sp. was completely suppressed even at $10{\mu}g/ml$. There was no significant reduction in the incidence of Penicillium sp. at 30% relative humidity (RH). However, the incidence of Penicillium sp. was 27.7% at 50% RH, further those were 3.5% and 0.2% at 70% and 80% RH, respectively. Seed germination was not affected by $ClO_2$ treatment at all the RH conditions. Water-soaked seeds (30% seed moisture content) showed a drastic reduction in the incidence of Penicillium sp. when treated at more than $10{\mu}g/ml$ of $ClO_2$. The incidences of Penicillium sp. were 3.3, 1.8 and 1.2% at 10, 15 and $20{\mu}g/ml$, respectively. The incidence of Penicillium sp. in dry seeds with 9.7% seed moisture content did not reduce when treated with 5 and $10{\mu}g/ml$ at 50% RH although it tended to decrease as $ClO_2$ concentration increased to $20{\mu}g/ml$. Seed germination was not affected by $ClO_2$ treatment at the tested concentrations. These results indicated that gaseous $ClO_2$ was effective disinfectant to wheat seeds infected with Penicillium sp. and that the effectiveness of $ClO_2$ strongly increased when moisture content around or inside of the seed was increased.
A study to compare the effects of supplementing Delonix elata, Grewia similis, Tamarindus indica and sunflower seed cake on intake and growth rate of dual-purpose goats fed low quality Buffel grass (Cenchrus ciliaris) hay was carried out. Twenty-eight male goats aged five to seven months (mean weight 12.93${\pm}$3.94 kg) were randomly allocated to four dietary groups in a completely randomised design. The diets were hay plus Grewia similis, hay plus Delonix elata, hay plus Tamarindus indica and hay plus sunflower seed cake. All diets were supplemented with maize bran. The experimental period was 90 days. Voluntary dry matter intake of the supplements was higher for Tamarindus indica (275.5 g/day) and Grewia similis (201.8 g/day) and lowest for sunflower seed cake (81g/day). Goats supplemented with Grewia similis had the highest hay intake (183.8 g/day) while those supplemented with sunflower seed cake had the lowest hay intake (98.9 g/day). Animals fed browse supplements gained significantly more weight (p<0.001) than those with sunflower seed cake. There were no significant differences in live weight change between goats fed the different browses. However, those fed Tamarindus indica gained an average of 20.79 g/d which was slightly higher than the gains for those on Grewia similis and Delonix elata while those fed sunflower seed cake lost weight. Correspondingly, goats supplemented with browse leaf meals had higher feed conversion ratios than those supplemented with sunflower seed cake and required 23.91 to 35.06 g DM of feed to produce one g of weight gain per day. In a separate study, the DM disappearance pattern indicated that Grewia similis and Delonix elata were highly degradable compared to Tamarindus indica. At 24 h of incubation, DM degradability was 627, 588 and 345 g/kg DM for Grewia similis, Delonix elata and Tamarindus indica, respectively. In another study in vivo DM digestibility ranged from 46.1% (for hay alone) to 56.2% (for hay plus Grewia similis). It was concluded that the addition of Tamarindus indica, Grewia similis and Delonix elata leaf meals to Cenchrus ciliaris hay resulted in increased total DM intake, in vivo digestibility and growth rate. Therefore, leaf meals of indigenous browses particularly Tamarindus indica and Grewia similis could be used as supplementary feeds for small ruminants grazing on poor quality roughages during the dry season rather than use of expensive, less effective and intermittently available sunflower seed cake.
