Effect of Struvite Crystallization Kinetics; Seed Material, Seed Particle Size, $G{\cdot}t_d$ Value (Struvite 결정화에 미치는 영향; Seed 물질, Seed 입자크기, $G{\cdot}t_d$ Value의 영향)

  • This study focused on shorten the period of the struvite crystal birth and development by adding seed materials. For this purpose, three different seed materials were selected: sand, anthracite and struvite. The experiments has been conducted to evaluate the effect of the particle size of the selected seed material on the struvite crystallization, and to study the mixing effect which can be expressed by the value of $G{\cdot}t_d$(the multiple of mean velocity gradient(G) and mixing time($t_d$)). It was observed in this study that the removal efficiency of ammonia nitrogen increased by 9%, 11%, and 20% for sand, anthracite, and struvite added as the seed material, respectivley. This indicated that the struvite crystallization efficiency had a close correlation with the specific surface area of the seed particle. It was found that when struvite was selected as the seed material, the struvite crystallization proceeded at lower $G{\cdot}t_d$ value as compared with other seed materials. This observation implied that the secondary crystal birth would be dominated in this reaction. It was concluded in this study that the particle size was not significant factor on the struvite crystallization, while the $G{\cdot}t_d$ value was a considerably important factor in terms of the theory of the struvite crystal birth.

Characteristics of Flour Ferment with Seed Mash Containing Wheat Flour Koji and Lactic Acid Bacteria (밀가루 입국과 유산균을 이용하여 만든 Seed mash를 첨가한 발효액종의 특성)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the components of organic acids and flavour in flour ferment composed of water, flour, seed mash, yeast and lactic acid bacteria. The pH and TTA in the control (flour ferment without seed mash and lactic bacteria) were 5.6 and 2.5, respectively at 6 hrs after culturing; however, those in flour ferment with seed mash and different lactic acid bacteria were 4.63-4.69 and 9.0-9.9, respectively. Organic acid contents were propionic acid 0.09 mg/g, lactic acid 0.06 mg/g and acetic acid 0.04 mg/g in flour ferment without seed mash, whereas lactic acid 0.23-0.27 mg/g, propionic acid 0.21 mg/g, and acetic acid 0.06-0.08 mg/g in flour ferment with seed mash and lactic acid bacteria. Flavour compounds including ethyl capylate, ethyl caproate, ethyl acetate, ethyl caprate and phenylethyl acetate were detected to be high in flour ferment with seed mash and different lactic acid bacteria than in the control. This results show that the use of flour ferment with seed mash and lactic acid bacteria in making bread will enhance bread flavour.

A Study on the Eco-friendly Evaluation of Traditional Hanok - Based on the G-SEED 2016 Certification Criteria - (전통한옥의 친환경성 평가에 관한 연구 - G-SEED 2016의 평가기준에 근거하여 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to certify the eco-friendly elements of traditional Hanok based on the G-SEED 2016 Criteria. For this study, estimating the eco-friendly elements of the two traditional Hanok - Myeong Jae's old house and General Lee Sam's old house - based on the G-SEED 2016 Criteria. The results were as follows: Each of the two traditional Hanok can get the sufficient points for grading at G-SEED 2016, but the two required criteria are not be able to get the points; energy performance such as heat storage of traditional mud wall and water saving equipments. On the other hand using eco-friendly materials in traditional Hanok are satisfied with the Material category. Also using rainwater and underwater through garden and pond in traditional Hanok are satisfied with the Ecological environment category. But lots of the other eco-friendly elements of traditional Hanok can not be estimated by G-SEED 2016 Criteria. Modern Hanok will be able to obtain G-SEED 2016 certification when using the valid eco-friendly elements of traditional Hanok and applies new technologies such as water saving equipments.

A Comparative Study on Office Building Criteria between G-SEED and LEED

  • G-SEED aims for establishing green environmental building with energy saving and has started for evaluating with multi-residential complex in 2002 by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure & Transport (MOLIT) and the Ministry of Environment to develop the current 10 building types and new & existing building types to be applied. Since G-SEED has been developed for more than 10 years, the strategy of globalization is needed with constant review itself and comparison between other assessments to understand current situation from the global perspectives. This study draws similarities and differences of G-SEED and LEED criteria by the comparison from re-constructed LEED criteria based on G-SEED. "Energy & Pollution" is the most concerned category in both assessments as the result of analysis on category rates. Next concerns are "Material & Resources", "Indoor Environment" and "Water Management". The unique categories in both criteria are "Ecological Environment" in G-SEED and "Innovation & Design Process" in LEED. The conclusion of this research is that two assessments are organized at different locations and with different strategies for developing green building but there are common concerns such as energy saving, material use, indoor environment. As a result, it is expected to use fundamental data for developing G-SEED for global standard.

A Comparison Analysis on the Sales Price of Apartments according to G-SEED by Using T-test (T-test분석을 통한 녹색건축인증 유무에 따른 공동주택의 매매가격 비교 분석)

  • Currently, as the public interest for environmental issues has grown rapidly, the needs for G-SEED have also increased. However, as investment according to eco-friendly elements is inevitable to receive G-SEED certification, it is necessary to find out whether or not the sales price of apartments have increased compared to investment costs. Therefore, the objective of this study is to analyze the sales price of apartments according to G-SEED by using T-test. To achieve the objective, First, variables affecting on the sales price of apartments are selected. Second, the data are collected by using GIS(Geographic Information System). Third, after testing the normality, a comparison analysis is conducted on the sales price between G-SEED certified and non-certified apartments by using T-test. As a result, it is concluded that G-SEED certified apartments are more expensive than non-certified apartments. In the future, these findings can be utilized to develop of apartments price calculation model based on the G-SEED.

Varietal Difference of Lignan Contents and Fatty Acids Composition in Korean Sesame Cultivars (국내 참깨 품종의 리그난 함량 및 지방산 조성)

  • Although lignans of sesame seed, sesamolin and sesamin have been known as possessing an antioxidant activity, it is less known about their contents of the sesame cultivated in Korea. Collections of sesame cultivated in Korea were used for studies on their lignans content of the seed and fatty acids composition of the oil. The sesamin content of sesame seed with white-coat were 370.29 mg/100g seed, while that of sesame seed with black-coat were 246.58mg/100g seed. Also, the sesamolin contents of sesame seed were 202.22 mg/100g seed in white-coat cultivars and 132.68 mg/100g seed in black-coat sesames. Hence, the lignan content of white-coat sesame cultivars was significantly hi임or than that of black-coat ones. Korean sesame cultivars also showed considerably higher sesamin content than sesamolin content in seeds. The correlation between sesamin and sesamolin contents was not recognized in Korean sesame cultivars. The stearic acid of white-coat sesame was significantly higher than that of black-coat one (p<0.05).

Studies on the Compositions of Mineral Components, Total Amino Acid, Free Amino Acid and Fatty Acid of Zizyphus jujuba Seed (대추씨(Zizyphus jujuba Seed)의 무기질, 구성 총 아미노산, 유리 아미노산 및 지질 구성 지방산조성에 관한 연구)

  • Chemical components of the physiological activity substance in Zizyphus jujuba seed were analyzed for the use as an functional processed products. The proximate compositions of Zizyphus jujuba seed were carbohydrate 89.40%, moisture 8.23%, crude protein 1.22%, crude fat 0.65% and crude ash 0.50%, respectively. the richest mineral contained in Zizyphus jujuba seed was Mg(198.3mg/100g), followed by Mn(113.0mg/100g), K(100.2mg/100g), Ca(25.3mg/100g), P(25.6mg/100g_, Fe(23.5mg/100g), Zn(18.7mg/100g), Cu(7.4mg/100g) and Na(5.3mg/100g). Total amino acid contents of Zizyphys jujuba seed were 1103.12mg/100g, and the major amino acids were proline(235.17mg%), aspartic acid(175.941mg%), gltamic acid(101.46mg%), leucine(50.27mg%), serine(47.71mg%), aspartic acid(47.27mg%), glycine(41.60mg%) and lysine (33.78mg%), respectively. The amount of free amino acids in the protein of Zizyphus jujuba seed were 178.62 mg/100g, and the major free amino acids were proline(121.30mg%), alanine(6.01mg%), valine(2.63mg%) and arginine(2.04mg%), respectively. The compositions of major total fatty acid in the lipid Zizyphus jujuba seed were C18:2(n5c) 28.72%, C18:1(n9t) 23.76%, C18:1(n9c) 13.45%, C16:0 13.45% and C20:5(n3) 1.77% in order, respectively.

Potato Pests Observed in Seed Potatoes, North Korea during 2001 to 2005 (북한 씨감자 생산에서의 병해충 발생(2001-2005))

  • During visiting North Korea from 2001 to 2005, I have had a few chances to observe and discuss several North Korean scientists for the seed production program and also, the occurrence of potato pests. Healthy seed production, especially in the early generations, e.g. the production of virus-free starting materials as well as in vitro pre-basic seeds (G0) by hydroponics and basic seeds under netted houses according to her new national seed potato program of Academy of Agricultural Science, Pyongyang, North Korea, has been done well so far. Some major pests occurred, however, in the early generations such as pre-basic seed (G0) in greenhouse, basic seed (G1) in screenhouse, foundation seed-I (G2) and even ware potatoes in the fields are Phytopitthora infestans, Spongospora subterrunea, Ralstonia solanacearum, Pythium spp. and some viruses such as Potato virus X, Potato virus Y, Potato leafroll virus, and also larger potato ladybeetle, greenhouse whitefly and potato tuber moth. Therefore, the success of healthy seed production in North Korea will be thoroughly depended on the pest control and the multiplication of virus-free seed stocks in the isolated areas, especially where no infected potatoes are grown.

The comparison of hospital certification between G-SEED and foreign certification criteria (병원시설의 녹색건축 인증기준 국내외 비교연구)

  • This research introduces necessity to derive new certification criteria for the hospital considering healing environmental factors in G-SEED. The method of research is reference study to discuss concept of healing environment factors and case study to find ways for problem and improvement by comparison of G-SEED with foreign certification system. And the research conclusion is such as follows. First, it is necessary to develop certification criteria of the hospital for G-SEED which is lack of healing environmental assessment factors unlike foreign certification system. Second, The hospitals are certified by criteria of The Other Buildings in G-SEED which dose not take into account the characteristics of the hospital. Especially hospital waste and use of enormous water are the important factors required, which is already evaluated in foreign certification criteria.

Comparison of Functional Constituents and Biological Activity of the Seed Extracts from Two Mulberry Fruits

  • The seeds from two mulberry fruits [Morus alba (MA) and Cudrania tricuspidata (CT)] were examined for their oil content, and fatty acid, phytosterol and tocopherol compositions and contents. Moreover, polyphenolic compounds and biological activity of the two defatted seed residue extracts were also evaluated. Oil contents of MA and CT seeds were 29.36% and 16.69%, respectively, while MeOH extracts of the defatted MA and CT seed residues were 5.10% and 6.22%, respectively. The two seed oils were composed of 81.4 and 74.37% linoleic, 5.75 and 11.39% oleic, 8.40 and 10.18% palmitic acid, and 3.52 and 3.0% stearic acids, and two other minor fatty acids, such as linolenic and arachidic acids. MA seed had higher contents of phytosterols (507.59 mg/100 g of oil), tocopherols (99.64 mg/100 g of oil), and total flavonoid (106.50 mg/100 g of seed) than CT seed, whereas CT seed had higher levels of total polyphenol than MA seed. The MeOH extract of MA seed residue showed higher antioxidant, anti-diabetic, and anti-melanogenic activity than that of CT seed residue. trans-Resveratrol (9.62 mg/100 g), quercetin (54.83 mg/100 g), and 4-prenylmoracin (48.70 mg/100 g), were found to be the main polyphenolic components in the MeOH extract of MA seed residue. These results indicate that MA seeds are good sources of essential dietary phytochemicals with antioxidant, anti-diabetic and anti-melanogenic activity.
