Estimating the Mixture of Proportional Hazards Model with the Constant Baseline Hazards Function

  • Cox's proportional hazards model (PHM) has been widely applied in the analysis of lifetime data, and it can be characterized by the baseline hazard function and covariates influencing systems' lifetime, where the covariates describe operating environments (e.g. temperature, pressure, humidity). In this article, we consider the constant baseline hazard function and a discrete random variable of a covariate. The estimation procedure is developed in a parametric framework when there are not only complete data but also incomplete one. The Expectation-Maximization (EM) algorithm is employed to handle the incomplete data problem. Simulation results are presented to illustrate the accuracy and some properties of the estimation results.

  • Invertible transformations over n-bit words are essential ingredients in many cryptographic constructions. When n is large (e.g., n = 64) such invertible transformations are usually represented as a composition of simpler operations such as linear functions, S-P networks, Feistel structures and T-functions. Among them we study T-functions which are probably invertible and are very useful in stream ciphers. In this paper we study some conditions on a T-function h(x) such that f(x) = x + h(x) has a single cycle on ${\mathbb{Z}}_{2^n}$.

  • The aim of this paper is to study a new and unified class 𝓡αCosh of analytic functions associated with cosine hyperbolic function in the open unit disc E = {z ∈ ℂ : |z| < 1}. Some interesting properties of this class such as initial coefficient bounds, Fekete-Szegö inequality, second Hankel determinant, Zalcman inequality and third Hankel determinant have been established. Furthermore, these results have also been studied for two-fold and three-fold symmetric functions.

비파엽 추출물의 항산화 효능과 성분분석 (Antioxidative Effect and Component Analysis of Eriobotrya japonica Leaf Extracts)

  • 본 연구에서는 비파엽 추출물의 항산화 활성, 타이로시네이즈 저해 활성, 및 추출물/분획의 성분 분석에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 비파엽 추출물의 자유라디칼(1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl, DPPH) 소거활성($FSC_{50}$)은 50 % 에탄올 추출물($22.63{\mu}g/mL$) < 에틸아세테이트(ethyl acetate) 분획(6.75) < 당을 제거시킨 아글리콘(aglycone) 분획(5.06) 순으로 증가하였다. 루미놀(luminol)-의존성 화학발광법을 이용한 $Fe^{3+}-EDTA/H_2O_2$ 계에서 생성된 활성산소종(reactive oxygen species, ROS)에 대한 총항산화능은 에틸아세테이트 분획($OSC_{50}$, $0.75{\mu}g/mL$), 아글리콘 분획(0.79) 및 50 % 에탄올 추출물(1.61)에서 모두 큰 활성을 나타내었다. 비파엽 추출물의 rose-bengal로 증감된 사람 적혈구의 광용혈에 대한 보호효과를 조사하였다. 비파엽 추출물은 모든 분획에서 농도 의존적($5{\sim}50{\mu}g/mL$)으로 증가하였으며, 특히 에틸아세테이트 분획은 $10{\mu}g/mL$ 농도에서 ${\tau}50$이 390.8 min, $50{\mu}g/mL$ 농도에서 ${\tau}50$이 1471.5 min으로 높은 세포 보호 활성을 나타내었다. 타이로시네이즈 저해 활성($IC_50$)은 에틸아세테이트 분획($75.25{\mu}g/mL$) < 50 % 에탄올 추출물($74.1{\mu}g/mL$) < 아글리콘 분획($43.35{\mu}g/mL$) 순으로 미백제로 알려진 알부틴보타 타이로시네이즈 저해활성이 크게 나타났다. 비파엽 추출물 중 에틸아세테이트 분획의 TLC 분석 결과 7개의 띠(EJL 1 - EJL 7)가 나타났다. HPLC로 아글리콘 분획을 분석한 결과 kaempferol 및 quercetin이 각각 53.7 % 및 46.3 %였으며, 따라서 추출물 중에는 kaempferol 및 그 배당체 비율이 다소 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 결과들은 비파엽 추출물 또는 분획이 $^1O_2$ 및 다른 ROS를 소거 또는 소광함으로써 그리고 ROS에 대항해서 세포막을 효과적으로 보호함으로써 태양 자외선에 노출된 피부를 보호하는 항산화제로서 작용할 수 있음을 가리키며, 타이로시네이즈 저해 효과로부터 비파엽 추출물 및 분획물은 기능성 화장품 원료로서 응용가능성이 있음을 시사한다.

철근콘크리트 실험체의 시스템 식별과 유한요소 모델 수정 (Finite Element Model Updating and System Identification of Reinforced Concrete Specimen)

  • This paper focused on the application of finite element model updating technique to evaluate the structural properties of the reinforced concrete specimen using the data collected from shaking table tests. The specimen was subjected to six El Centre (NS, 1942) ground motion histories with different peak ground acceleration (PGA) ranging from 0.06 g to 0.50 g. For model updating, flexural stiffness values of structural members (walls and slabs) were chosen as the updating parameters so that the converged results have direct physical interpretations. Initial values for finite element model were determined from the member dimensions and material properties. Frequency response functions (i.e. transfer functions), natural frequencies and mode shapes were obtained using the acceleration measurement at each floor and given ground acceleration history. The weighting factors were used to account for the relative confidence in different types of Inputs for updating (j.e. transfer function and natural frequencies) The constraints based on upper/lower bound of parameters and sensitivity-based constraints were implemented to the updating procedure in this study using standard bounded variable least-squares(BVLS) method. The veracity of the updated finite element model was investigated by comparing the predicted and measured responses. The results indicated that the updated model replicates the dynamic behavior of the specimens reasonably well. At each stage of shaking, severity of damage that results from cracking of the reinforced concrete member was quantified from the updated parameters (i.e. flexural stiffness values).

  • The silicon doped $Al_{0.33}$G $a_{0.67}$As were grown by molecular beam epitaxy. The electroreflectance(ER) spectra of Schottky barrier Au/n-Al/suu x/G $a_{1-x}$ As have been measured at various modulation voltage( $V_{ac}$ ) and dc bias voltage( $V_{bias}$). From the observed Franz-Keldysh oscillations(FKO) peak, the band gap energy of the $Al_{x}$G $a_{1-x}$ As is 1.91 eV which corresponds to an Al composition of 33%. The internal electric field( $E_{i}$)of this sample is 2.96$\times$10$^{5}$ V/cm. As the modulation voltage( $V_{ac}$ ) is changed, the line shape of ER signal does not change but its amplitude varies linearly. The amplitude as a function of modulation voltage has saturated at 0.8 V. The internal electric field has decreased from 6.47$\times$10$^{5}$ V/cm to 2.00$\times$10$^{5}$ V/cm as the dc bias voltage( $V_{bias}$) increases from -3.5 V to +0.8 V. The values of built-in voltage( $V_{bi}$ ) and carrier concentration(N) determined from the plot of $V_{bias}$ from the plot of $V_{bias}$ versus $E_{i}$$^{2}$ are 0.855 V and 3.83$\times$10$^{17}$ c $m^{-3}$ , respectively.ively.y.y.y.

Right Atrial Strain in Preterm Infants With a History of Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia

  • BACKGROUND: Few studies have utilized right atrial (RA) strain to evaluate right ventricular (RV) diastolic dysfunction in preterm infants with bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). We aimed to evaluate the associations of RA strain with BPD severity and respiratory outcomes in preterm infants with BPD. METHODS: We retrospectively studied 153 infants with BPD born before 32 weeks of gestational age at CHA Bundang Medical Center. Peak longitudinal right atrial strain (PLRAS) was obtained using velocity vector imaging and compared among infants across BPD severity. Conventional echocardiographic parameters and clinical characteristics were also evaluated. RESULTS: In infants with severe BPD, mean gestational age (27.4 ± 2.1 weeks) and mean birth weight (971.3 ± 305.8 g) were significantly smaller than in those with mild BPD (30.0 ± 0.9 weeks, 1,237.3 ± 132.2 g) and moderate BPD (29.6 ± 1.3 weeks, 1,203.2 ± 214.4 g). PLRAS was significantly lower in infants with severe BPD (26.3 ± 10.1%) than in those in the moderate BPD group (32.4 ± 10.9%) or mild BPD group (31.9 ± 8.3%). Tricuspid E/e' and maximum RA volume index were similar across BPD severity. A decrease in PLRAS was significantly correlated with increased duration of mechanical ventilation duration; however, tricuspid E/e' and maximum RA volume index were not. CONCLUSIONS: Evaluating PLRAS with other parameters in infants with BPD might detect RV diastolic dysfunction. Longer follow-up and larger study populations may elucidate the association between PLRAS and respiratory outcomes in infants with BPD.

삼백초 추출물의 자궁경부암세포 억제 효능 (The Efficacy of Saururus chinensis on Cervical Cancer Cells : The Inhibitory Effect on the Function of E6 and E7 Oncogenes of HPV Type 16)

  • Cervical cancer is one of the leading causes of female death from cancer worldwide with about 500,000 deaths per year. A strong association between certain human papilloma viruses (HPV type 16 and 18) and cervical cancer has been well known. An extract of Saururus chinensis, named as PE-46, has been used to investigate whether this agent has the ability of inhibiting the oncogenes E6 and E7 of HPV type 16. PE-46 inhibited the proliferation of human cervical cancer cell lines in a dose response manner. PE-46 also inhibited the in vitro binding of E6 and E6AP which are essential for the binding and degradation of the tumor suppressor p53. In addition, PE-46 inhibited the in vitro binding of E7 and Rb which is essential tumor suppressor for the control of cell cycle. The levels of mRNA for E6 and E7 were also decreased by PE-46. SiHa cells treated with PE-46 induced G0/G1 arrest, resulting in inhibition of growth. Our study showed that the PE-46 can inhibit the cervical carcinomas via both inhibition of bindings between oncogenes and tumor suppressors, and inhibition of G1longrightarrowS transition. PE-46 inhibited the oncogenecity of E6 and E7 of HPV 16 type, thus could be used as a putative modulating agent for the treatment of cervical carcinomas caused by HPV.

  • e-business curriculum needs to be developed reflecting requirements of the stakeholder which involve a close relation with a industrial and educational job performed in the field. In this paper, we present a new methodology for developing a market-oriented and stakeholder-led e-business curriculum using quality function deployment(QFD) and conjoint analysis. For this purpose, we analyze the data resulting from the surveyed opinions of respondents working for e-business companies, the interviewed results with professors and students and evaluate the importance of each course being involved in the curriculum with respect to the job classification (e.g.. Web planner. Web master. Web programmer. Web marketer. Web designer), and then. complete a curriculm flow diagram(CFD) considering precedence and relative difficulty among the selected courses. The e-business curriculum developed by the proposed method is useful to provide guidelines for determining courses required toward a desired job and for making a partial amendment of the curriculum.

OTN에서의 400Gb/s급 Flexible 이더넷 신호수용 위한 맵핑 기능 구현 (Implementation of Mapping Function for 400 Gigabit Flexible Ethernet Signal in OTN)

  • 최근 이더넷 신호를 융통성 있게 구성하도록 하는 FlexE는 OTN을 통해 투명하게 전달하기 위하여 OTN으로 수용하는 것을 ITU-T에서 권고하고 있다. FlexE신호를 OTN 페이로드로 맵핑할 때 발생할 수 있는 비트율 차이를 보상하기 위하여 유휴 코드워드를 제거하거나 삽입하는 방법을 사용한다. 그러나 이와 같은 방법을 구현하기 위해 필요한 세부적인 기능 블록은 아직 공개되고 있지 않다. 본 논문에서는 최근 ITU-T 요구사항을 기초로 하여 400G급을 기준으로 FlexE 신호의 OTN 맵핑을 위한 세부적인 기능 블록을 살펴보았다. 또한 세부 기능 블록을 바탕으로 유휴 코드워드의 제거 및 삽입되는 발생 특성을 얻기 위하여 수학적인 분석을 하였고, 이를 이용한 시뮬레이션을 결과를 보였다.
