In this study, we propose a fuzzy polynomial neural networks (FPNN) and a genetically optimized fuzzy polynomial neural networks(GoFPNN) for identification of non-linear system. GoFPNN architecture is designed by a FPNN based on fuzzy set and its structure and parameters are optimized by genetic algorithms. A fuzzy neural networks(FNN) based on fuzzy set divide into two structures that is simplified inference structure and linear inference structure. The proposed FPNN is resulted from integration and extension of simplified and linear inference structure of FNN. The consequence structure of the FPNN consist of polynomials represented by networks using connection weights for rules. The networks comprehend simplified(Type 0), linear (Type 1), and quadratic(Type 3) inferences. The proposed FPNN can select polynomial type of consequence part for each rule. Therefore, proposed scheme can offer flexible structure design capability for a system characteristics. Moreover, GAs is applied to networks structure and parameters tuning of proposed FPNN, and its efficient application method is discussed, these subjects are result in GoFPNN that is optimal FPNN. To evaluate proposed model performance, a numerical experiment is carried out.
In this paper, a new architecture and comprehensive design methodology of genetically optimized Rule-based Fuzzy Polynomial Neural Networks(gRFPNN) are introduced and a series of numeric experiments are carried out. The architecture of the resulting gRFPNN results from asynergistic usage of the hybrid system generated by combining rule-based Fuzzy Neural Networks(FNN) with polynomial neural networks (PNN). FNN contributes to the formation of the premise part of the overall rule-based structure of the gRFPNN. The consequence part of the gRFPNN is designed using PNNs. At the premise part of the gRFPNN, FNN exploits fuzzy set based approach designed by using space partitioning in terms of individual variables and comes in two fuzzy inference forms: simplified and linear. As the consequence part of the gRFPNN, the development of the genetically optimized PNN dwells on two general optimization mechanism: the structural optimization is realized via GAs whereas in case of the parametric optimization we proceed with a standard least square method-based learning. To evaluate the performance of the gRFPNN, the models are experimented with the use of several representative numerical examples. A comparative analysis shows that the proposed gRFPNN are models with higher accuracy as well as more superb predictive capability than other intelligent models presented previously.
In this paper, we propose a new architecture of Fuzzy Polynomial Neural Networks(FPNN) by means of genetically optimized Fuzzy Polynomial Neuron(FPN) and discuss its comprehensive design methodology involving mechanisms of genetic optimization, especially Genetic Algorithms(GAs). The design of the network exploits the extended Group Method of Data Handling(GMDH) with some essential parameters of the network being provided by the designer and kept fixed throughout the overall development process. This restriction may hamper a possibility of producing an optimal architecture of the model. The proposed FPNN gives rise to a structurally optimized network and comes with a substantial level of flexibility in comparison to the one we encounter in conventional FPNNs. It is shown that the proposed genetic algorithms-based Fuzzy Polynomial Neural Networks is more useful and effective than the existing models for nonlinear process. We experimented with Medical Imaging System(MIS) dataset to evaluate the performance of the proposed model.

We propose a new category of neurofuzzy networks- Self-organizing Neural Networks(SONN) with fuzzy polynomial neurons(FPNs) and discuss a comprehensive design methodology supporting their development. Two kinds of SONN architectures, namely a basic SONN and a modified SONN architecture are dicussed. Each of them comes with two types such as the generic and the advanced type. SONN dwells on the ideas of fuzzy rule-based computing and neural networks. Simulation involves a series of synthetic as well as experimental data used across various neurofuzzy systems. A comparative analysis is included as well.
This paper introduces a new architecture of genetically optimized self-organizing fuzzy polynomial neural networks by means of information granulation. The conventional SOFPNNs developed so far are based on mechanisms of self-organization and evolutionary optimization. The augmented genetically optimized SOFPNN using Information Granulation (namely IG_gSOFPNN) results in a structurally and parametrically optimized model and comes with a higher level of flexibility in comparison to the one we encounter in the conventional FPNN. With the aid of the information granulation, we determine the initial location (apexes) of membership functions and initial values of polynomial function being used in the premised and consequence part of the fuzzy rules respectively. The GA-based design procedure being applied at each layer of genetically optimized self-organizing fuzzy polynomial neural networks leads to the selection of preferred nodes with specific local characteristics (such as the number of input variables, the order of the polynomial, a collection of the specific subset of input variables, and the number of membership function) available within the network. To evaluate the performance of the IG_gSOFPNN, the model is experimented with using gas furnace process data. A comparative analysis shows that the proposed IG_gSOFPNN is model with higher accuracy as well as more superb predictive capability than intelligent models presented previously.
In this paper, we propose competitive fuzzy polynomial neurons-based advanced Self-Organizing Neural Networks(SONN) architecture for optimal model identification and discuss a comprehensive design methodology supporting its development. The proposed SONN dwells on the ideas of fuzzy rule-based computing and neural networks. And it consists of layers with activation nodes based on fuzzy inference rules and regression polynomial. Each activation node is presented as Fuzzy Polynomial Neuron(FPN) which includes either the simplified or regression polynomial fuzzy inference rules. As the form of the conclusion part of the rules, especially the regression polynomial uses several types of high-order polynomials such as linear, quadratic, and modified quadratic. As the premise part of the rules, both triangular and Gaussian-like membership (unction are studied and the number of the premise input variables used in the rules depends on that of the inputs of its node in each layer. We introduce two kinds of SONN architectures, that is, the basic and modified one with both the generic and the advanced type. Here the basic and modified architecture depend on the number of input variables and the order of polynomial in each layer. The number of the layers and the nodes in each layer of the SONN are not predetermined, unlike in the case of the popular multi-layer perceptron structure, but these are generated in a dynamic way. The superiority and effectiveness of the Proposed SONN architecture is demonstrated through two representative numerical examples.
In this paper, we discuss optimal design of Fuzzy Polynomial Neural Networks by means of Genetic Algorithms(GAs). Proceeding the layer, this model creates the optimal network architecture through the selection and the elimination of nodes by itself. So, there is characteristic of flexibility. We use a triangle and a Gaussian-like membership function in premise part of rules and design the consequent structure by constant and regression polynomial (linear, quadratic and modified quadratic) function between input and output variables. GAs is applied to improve the performance with optimal input variables and number of input variables and order. To evaluate the performance of the GAs-based FPNNs, the models are experimented with the use of Medical Imaging System(MIS) data.
In this study, we introduce and investigate a class of dynamic perceptron architectures, discuss a comprehensive design methodology and carry out a series of numeric experiments. The proposed dynamic perceptron architectures are called as Polynomial Neural Networks(PNN). PNN is a flexible neural architecture whose topology is developed through learning. In particular, the number of layers of the PNN is not fixed in advance but is generated on the fly. In this sense, PNN is a self-organizing network. PNN has two kinds of networks, Polynomial Neuron(FPN)-based and Fuzzy Polynomial Neuron(FPN)-based networks, according to a polynomial structure. The essence of the design procedure of PN-based Self-organizing Polynomial Neural Networks(SOPNN) dwells on the Group Method of Data Handling (GMDH) [1]. Each node of the SOPNN exhibits a high level of flexibility and realizes a polynomial type of mapping (linear, quadratic, and cubic) between input and output variables. FPN-based SOPNN dwells on the ideas of fuzzy rule-based computing and neural networks. Simulations involve a series of synthetic as well as experimental data used across various neurofuzzy systems. A detailed comparative analysis is included as well.
Polynomial networks have been known to have excellent properties as classifiers and universal approximators to the optimal Bayes classifier. In this paper, the use of polynomial neural networks is proposed for efficient implementation of the polynomial-based classifiers. The polynomial neural network is a trainable device consisting of some rules and three processes. The three processes are assumption, effect, and fuzzy inference. The assumption process is driven by fuzzy c-means and the effect processes deals with a polynomial function. A learning algorithm for the polynomial neural network is developed and its performance is compared with that of previous studies.
In this paper, we propose a new architecture of Self-Organizing Fuzzy Polynomial Neural Networks(SOFPNN) by means of genetically optimized fuzzy polynomial neuron(FPN) and discuss its comprehensive design methodology involving mechanisms of genetic optimization, especially genetic algorithms(GAs). The conventional SOFPNNs hinges on an extended Group Method of Data Handling(GMDH) and exploits a fixed fuzzy inference type in each FPN of the SOFPNN as well as considers a fixed number of input nodes located in each layer. The design procedure applied in the construction of each layer of a SOFPNN deals with its structural optimization involving the selection of preferred nodes (or FPNs) with specific local characteristics (such as the number of input variables, the order of the polynomial of the consequent part of fuzzy rules, a collection of the specific subset of input variables, and the number of membership function) and addresses specific aspects of parametric optimization. Therefore, the proposed SOFPNN gives rise to a structurally optimized structure and comes with a substantial level of flexibility in comparison to the one we encounter in conventional SOFPNNs. To evaluate the performance of the genetically optimized SOFPNN, the model is experimented with using two time series data(gas furnace and chaotic time series).
