고속도로 유형별 교통류 모형 정산 (A Calibration of the fundamental Diagram on the Type of Expressway)

  • PURPOSES: Used in transportation planning and traffic engineering, almost traffic simulation tools have input variable values optimized by overseas traffic flow attribution because they are almost developed in overseas country. Thus, model calibration appropriated for internal traffic flow attribution is needed to improve reliability of simulation method. METHODS : In this study, the traffic flow model calibration is based on expressways. For model calibration, it needs to define each expressway link according to attribution, thus it is classified by design speed, geometric conditions and number of lanes. And modified greenshield model is used as traffic flow model. RESULTS : The result of the traffic model calibration indicates that internal congested density is lower than overseas. And the result of analysis according to the link attribution indicates that the more design speed and number of lanes increase, the lower the minimum speed, the higher the congested density. CONCLUSIONS: In the traffic simulation tool developed in overseas, the traffic flow is different as design speed and number of lanes, but road segment don't affect traffic flow. Therefore, these results need to apply reasonably to internal traffic simulation method.

다공 세라믹 버너 내부의 화염 거동에 관한 실험 (Experimental study on flame behavior within a porous ceramic burner)

  • Experimental studies on combustion phenomena within a porous ceramic burner are reported. Main interest of the present work is to investigate fundamental flame behaviors and their effects on the burner operation. Due to high thermal capacity of the porous ceramic materials, the response of flame to burning condition changes is slow and thus to have a stabilized flame is quite difficult and takes much time. It is found that the temperature profile obtained at downstream of the flame zone is not much sensitive to the movement of flame and the speed of flame movement is less than 0.1 mm/sec for the conditions tested. With the premixed LPG/air flame imbedded within the porous ceramic burner, stable combustion regions and unstable combustion regions leading to blowoff or flashback phenomena are observed and mapped on flow velocity versus equivalence ratio diagram. For the development of burner operation technique which is more practical and safe, intermittent burning technique, where the fuel or/and air is supplied to the burner intermittently, is proposed as one of the flame control methods for the porous ceramic burner and tested in this study. Through the experiment, it is realized that the proposed method is acceptable in respect to burner performance and give much flexibility in the operation of porous ceramic burner.

접착부 형상이 알루미늄/폴리카보네이트 접합재의 강도에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Adhesive Shape on the Strength of Aluminum/Polycarbonate Joint)

  • Adhesive-bonded joints are widely used in the industry. Recently aircraft applications of adhesive bonding joints have been increased extensively in automobile and air industry. Because adhesives which are available for structural applications have been developed a lot and understanding of adhesive bonding has been improved so much. In this study, as the fundamental research of design of adhesive bonding joints, this study considers specimen shape are affect strength and durability of Al/Polymer lap joints. In this research, cross head speed difference were concerned to evaluate their effects on the adhesive strength. Cross head speed makes a change 0.05mm/min, 0.5mm/min, 5mm/min. The result is load-displacement diagram showed brittleness fracture tendency. Fracture tendency that is shown enough on stress distribution of trigonal single lap joint and trigonal edged single lap joint occur the inside of adhesive.

KINGS: A Preliminary Result of the Fornax cluster

  • We present a preliminary result of the Fornax cluster survey as a part of the KMTNet Intensive Nearby Southern Galaxy Group Survey (KINGS). We discovered about 200 new dwarf galaxy candidates from the survey of the $8^{\circ}{\times}6^{\circ}$ area around the Fornax cluster. They have magnitudes ranging from V=17.5 to 22 mag (Mv = -13.8 to -9.3), and they are almost complete to V = 20 mag. Surface brightness profiles of most of these galaxies are fit well by a Sersic law with n ~ 1.0. Structural parameters of these galaxies follow well the scaling relations of dwarf galaxies in the fundamental plane. The color-magnitude diagram of these galaxies shows that they are mostly located at the faint end of the red sequence, indicating that they are the probable member of the Fornax cluster. We also derive a luminosity function of the Fornax cluster by combining the new galaxies with the known galaxies in the previous catalogs. We will discuss the future of the KINGS-Fornax.

Dual Vector Control Strategy for a Three-Stage Hybrid Cascaded Multilevel Inverter

  • This paper presents a voltage control algorithm for a hybrid multilevel inverter based on a staged-perception of the inverter voltage vector diagram. The algorithm is applied to control a three-stage eighteen-level hybrid inverter, which has been designed with a maximum number of symmetrical levels. The inverter has a two-level main stage built using a conventional six-switch inverter and medium- and low- voltage three-level stages constructed using cascaded H-bridge cells. The distinctive feature of the proposed algorithm is its ability to avoid the undesirable high switching frequency for high- and medium- voltage stages despite the fact that the inverter's dc sources voltages are selected to maximize the number of levels by state redundancy elimination. The high- and medium- voltage stages switching algorithms have been developed to assure fundamental switching frequency operation of the high voltage stage and not more than few times this frequency for the medium voltage stage. The low voltage stage is controlled using a SVPWM to achieve the reference voltage vector exactly and to set the order of the dominant harmonics. The inverter has been constructed and the control algorithm has been implemented. Test results show that the proposed algorithm achieves the desired features and all of the major hypotheses have been verified.

Large Steel Tank Fails and Rockets to Height of 30 meters - Rupture Disc Installed Incorrectly

  • At a brewery, the base plate-to-shell weld seam of a $90-m^3$ vertical cylindrical steel tank failed catastrophically. The 4 ton tank "took off" like a rocket leaving its contents behind, and landed on a van, crushing it. The top of the tank reached a height of 30 m. The internal overpressure responsible for the failure was an estimated 60 kPa. A rupture disc rated at < 50 kPa provided overpressure protection and thus prevented the tank from being covered by the European Pressure Equipment Directive. This safeguard failed and it was later discovered that the rupture disc had been installed upside down. The organizational root cause of this incident may be a fundamental lack of appreciation of the hazards of large volumes of low-pressure compressed air or gas. A contributing factor may be that the standard piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID) symbol for a rupture disc may confuse and lead to incorrect installation. Compressed air systems are ubiquitous. The medium is not toxic or flammable. Such systems however, when operated at "slight overpressure" can store a great deal of energy and thus constitute a hazard that ought to be addressed by safety managers.

로켓탄 추진기관 온도반복시험 균열 원인분석 (Analysis of the Causes of Cracks in Rocket Propellant in Thermal Cycling Test)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to derive solutions and prevent similar cases from occurring by analyzing the causes of cracks found in temperature cycling tests of rocket motor. Methods: By combining the results of the current state confirmation test, non-destructive test, domestic and foreign rocket motor comparison test, cutting test, and adhesion test according to the number of times to apply mold release agent, a Cause and Effect Diagram analysis was performed to derive the cause of cracks. Results: Through this study, 26 factors that could cause cracking in rocket motors during temperature cycling tests were identified. Through various additional test results, a total of five causes were identified, including chemical and structural design of the joint between the propellant and stress relief insert, omission of procedure in the manufacturing procedures, natural aging due to temperature, and load accumulation due to temperature changes. The fundamental cause was confirmed to be insufficient consideration of the release properties of the propellant and stress relief insert. Conclusion: During the design process, it was confirmed that this could be solved by structurally or chemically designing the insert so that it does not combine with the propellant, or by applying a mold release agent during the manufacturing process.

Multi-Regime에 의한 돌발상황 시 교통류 분석 (A Study of Traffic Incident Flow Characteristics on Korean Highway Using Multi-Regime)

  • 본 연구는 점유율, 교통량, 속도 등의 실시간 교통자료의 시계열 분석, 교통기초도 상 실측자료의 통계적 모형화와 교통류의 다영역 구분에 의한 교통정체의 전개 양상을 규명하였다. 천안-논산고속도로의 교통사고와 행사로 인한 교통정체 시의 검지기 자료를 바탕으로 시계열 분석을 수행한 결과 교통사고와 같이 급격히 도로 콩량이 감소하는 경우 사고 직후 점유율의 변화로부터 용이하게 추정할 수 있었다. 행사와 같은 교통량 증가로 인한 교통정체의 경우 점유율과 평균속도의 변화 폭이 완만하며, 충격파의 형태가 다양하여 단순한 교통지표들의 시계열적 분석에 의한 검지의 신속성과 정확성에는 어려움이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 실측자료의 통계적 모형화에 있어서 안정교통류일 경우 점유율과 교통량 관계는 1차 선형식으로 매우 높은 신뢰도로 설명되었다. 그러나 속도와 점유율간의 관계에 있어서는 운전자들의 희망속도에 대한 넓은 폭원으로 인하여 나타나는 군집형태가 통계적 모형으로 표현되기에는 어려운 것으로 나타났다 그러나 이 경우 점유율 6-8$\%$대를 중심으로 속도가 급격히 떨어지는 현상이 발생하였다. 불안정 교통류 상황의 경우 교통정체의 형성과 해소과정이 각기 하나의 영역 내에서 분석됨에 따라 전반적으로 통계적 모형의 적용이 어려운 것으로 나타났다. 안정과 불안정 2영역 구분에 의한 교통정체 형성과 해소과정의 해석이 어려운 점을 감안하여 다영역 구분에 의한 교통류를 시계열에 의하여 분석한 결과 사고시의 교통류는 바로 정지단계(stopped flow)로 전이되며 점유율이 급격히 증가하였으며, 교통류가 stooped flow에서 free flow로 회복될 때 급격히 증가된 점유율이 점진적으로 감소하면서 교통량이 증가하는 추세를 나타냈다. 교통혼잡시의 교통류는 "impeded free flow" 상황에서 "congested flow" 상황을 거쳐 "jammed flow" 상황으로 전개되는 등 사고에 의한 정체 형성 및 해소과정보다 매우 복잡하며, 동일한 점유율에 대하여 교통상태별로 교통량의 차이가 큰 현상이 명확하게 발생하였다. 본 연구는 교통류 분석 시 다영역 구분의 필요성을 제시하였으며, 향후 개별 교통영역에 대한 정량적 구분 및 모형화가 이루어져야 할 것을 제기하였다.

일라이트-스멕타이트 혼합층광물의 단범위적층효과에 대한 고찰 (About Short-stacking Effect of Illite-smectite Mixed Layers)

  • 일라이트-스멕타이트 혼합층광물(I-S)은 속성작용과 열수변질작용에 의해 생성되는 자생광물로 온도와 칼륨이온 농도가 증가할수록 일라이트가 증가하는 I-S 상으로 전이하기 때문에 에너지 및 광물자원탐사분야에서 지온계와 연대측정계로 널리 활용되고 있다. 일반적으로 I-S 층상구조를 이루고 있는 규산염층의 개수가 한정적이기 때문에 (보통 5 ~ 15개) 팽창도라 부르는 스멕타이트 함량(%S)이 이론치보다 낮게 나타나는 특징이 있다(이를 단범위적층효과라 함). 본 연구에서는 기본입자(I-S 결정자를 물리적으로 분리하였을 때 관찰되는 최소 단위체)가 면대면(face-to-face)으로 쌓여 I-S 층상구조를 이룬다는 기본입자모델을 적용하여 적층정도에 따른 팽창도 차이로부터 단범위적층효과를 정량화하고자 하였다(${\Delta}%S=%S_{Max}-%S_{XRD}$; $%S_{Max}$ = 기본입자가 무한적층을 하였을 때 팽창도, $%S_{XRD}$ = 기본입자가 제한적층을 하였을 때 팽창도로 통상 X-선 회절분석을 이용하여 측정함). 본 연구를 위하여 금성산화산암복합체(경북 의성)에서 산출되는 11개 I-S 시료로부터 1 ${\mu}m$ 이하 입도를 분리하여 $%S_{XRD}$와 평균부합성산란두께(average coherent scattering thickness)를 측정하였으며 이 두 값을 활용하여 평균기본입자두께($N_f$)와 $%S_{Max}$를 유도하였다. 연구결과, 팽창도가 20 $%S_{XRD}$ 지점에서 단범위적층효과가 최대로 발생하는 것을 관찰할 수 있었으며 이는 대략적으로 평균 3개의 규산염층으로 구성된 기본입자($N_f{\approx}3$)가 쌓여 I-S 층상구조를 이루고 있는 경우에 해당하였다. Kang et al.(2002)의 $%S_{XRD}$$N_f$ 다어그램을 이용하여 각 질서도(Reichweite)에 대한 $%S_{XRD}$ 범위를 유추해본 결과, 단범위적층효과로 인하여 $%S_{XRD}$값의 범위가 적층확률(junction probability)을 통하여 유도한 이론치보다 더 낮은 쪽으로 이동하는 현상을 관찰할 수 있었다. 또한, I-S 층상구조를 구성하는 기본입자의 두께가 I-S 질서도를 결정하는 주요 인자임을 재확인할 수 있었다.

송대(宋代) 천동사(天童寺)의 전각과 이용 - "선원청규(禪院淸規)"와 "오산십찰도"의 문헌을 중심으로 - (The Usage of Buildings in Tiantong Temple in the Song Era - Through Rules of Purity for the Chan Monastery and Five Mountains Ten Checks Figures -)

  • Ceremony is important to Buddhism as a part of the religious practice. Buddhist ceremony is a kind of discipline and it rules the Chan monastery life. This discipline, called $\ulcorner$Qinggui(淸規)$\lrcorner$ also forms a part of the practice for enlightenment in the Chan monastery(禪宗). Qinggui is derived from $\ulcorner$Baizhang's monastic code(百丈淸規)$\lrcorner$ which no longer exists. $\ulcorner$Chanyuan qinggui(禪院淸規)$\lrcorner$ is considered the oldest surviving Chinese monastic discipline. Its success is partly due to the emphasis in the Chan monastery on the succession of monks to abbot hood. Qinggui has been called the only discipline in Buddhist monastic life in religion. Whether it is also the discipline of the architectural space of the Chan temples is the focus of this thesis. The examination of this assumption may expand the meaning of Qinggui as embodying not only the religious form of discipline but also a fundamental part of the architectural archive. The majority of the buildings in the Chan monastery in Qinggui are related to $\ulcorner$Five Mountains Ten Checks figures$\lrcorner$. Most of all, it can be clarified that the elements of Qinggui are expressed through the analysis of the activities in each building. This proves that Qinggui has become a stipulation not only for the regulation of the monastery life but also the architectural code of the Chan temples. In conclusion, this study shows how the meaning of ceremony and monastery life in $\ulcorner$Chanyuan qinggui$\lrcorner$ can be expanded to include the design program of temples. The research proves that there is a basic code in the Chan temples for designing the structure of the monastery space. Similarly, $\ulcorner$Five Mountains Ten Checks Figures$\lrcorner$ was a diagram for examination and analysis as well as a tool for creating drawings of the temples in the Song era.
