  • The specialized and diversified synthetic and compounding technologies are used to meet the requirements for the advanced high performance tire tread materials with better balance of fuel economy(rolling resistance), safety(wet traction) and wear resistance. These techniques involve the methodology for the improvement of chemical and physical interaction between filler and the rubber matrix using coupling agents as well as a variety of chemically-modified solution SBRs. The research trends about the high performance functional SBRs and coupling agents which can interact with the surface of fillers and their working mechanism were investigated in the conventional carbon black-filled rubber and silica-filled SBR systems developed recently as "green tire".

  • As national income increases, consumers began to place a great deal of weight on products or quality of their life. They would like to have products which are more convenient to use and could meet their emotional desire in addition to its basic functional requirements. An automobile is one of the transportation system for human beings and the factor such as safety or environmentaly-friendly is regarded as important things resulting from it's popularization. In fact, domestic design technology leaves much to be desired compared with excellent manufacturing techniques. For this reason, some problems, like lowering of usage, could be caused by introducing technological data as it is from overseas. A survey of domestic car users has found that the most preferred condition (step height) is 460~495cm when they get in and out of their car. Men use their visual information and then get in the car, taking motion fit for each condition when automobile condition is changed. In other words, men get in cars actively within the range of conditions used for this study. These results were found from a motion study, when getting in a car, and checking the possibility of getting injury in accordance with the change of condition as well.

  • In weapon systems development, live fire tests have been frequently adopted to evaluate the performance of the systems under development. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure safety in the test ranges where the live fire tests can cause serious hazards. During the tests, a special care must be taken to protect the test and evaluation (T&E) personnel and also test assets from potential danger and hazards. Thus, the development and management of the range safety process is quite important in the tests of guided missiles and artillery considering the explosive power of the destruction. Note also that with a newly evolving era of weapon systems such as laser, EMP and non-lethal weapons, the test procedure for such systems is very complex. Therefore, keeping the safety level in the test ranges is getting more difficult due to the increased unpredictability for unknown hazards. The objective of this paper is to study on how to enhance the safety in the test ranges. To do so, an approach is proposed based on model-based systems engineering (MBSE). Specifically, a functional architecture is derived utilizing the MBSE method for the design of the range safety process under the condition that the derived architecture must satisfy both the complex test situation and the safety requirements. The architecture developed in the paper has also been investigated by simulation using a computer-aided systems engineering tool. The systematic application of this study in weapon live tests is expected to reduce unexpected hazards and test design time. Our approach is intended to be a trial to get closer to the recent theme in T&E community, "Testing at the speed of stakeholder's need and rapid requirement for rapid acquisition."

A Contingent Study of Information System Planning (정보시스템 계획의 상황적인 연구)

  • Recently, the importance of ISP(Information System Planning) has been increased because of rapid change and severe competition in business environments. Furthermore, the role of IS in the organization has included not only the supportive activities but also the strategic activities. Organizations can get the competitive advantages through the strategic use of IT by establishing effective and systematic ISP implementation. The main focus of this study is investigate the relationship among three subunits(organizational factors, the role of IS and effective ISP) based on the contingent settings which the process of ISP is implemented. The reasons that conceptual framework of this study is based on the contingent theory are as follow: First, ISP process itself has a series of complicated work which various elements in a company are involved. ISP externally must have the process to evaluate information technology (technology related with IS). Internally ISP process has a serious of works including determining information requirements to develop successful IS for other functional departments and identifying strategic opportunity of IS aligned with business strategy. Secondly, the activity of ISP is occurring on the continual basis. Business environments in which ISP process has implemented are changing continuously. Specific ISP methodology which was appropriate in a certain period of time does not work any more because of the rapid changes in business environments. For this reason managers can hardly expect successful ISP without considering external environments or internal environments such as organizational or management side. For this study, 240 survey questionnaires were mailed and 71 questionnaires were returned. 57 samples were used for the final analysis and 14 samples were excluded from analysis in that they didn't exercise official and systematic ISP. As the result of analysis, among the internal factors(organizational size, time frame of decision making, budget, management style, organizational culture) organizational culture, management style and time frame of decision making are identified as contingent factors on the effective ISP. The result of this study may have meaning in suggesting the way to develop effective ISP through the formalization of business process, more favorable users attitude toward IS and selection of an appropriate ISP methodology.

  • This study intends to design a curation system to support elementary and secondary schools for reusing and sharing instructional materials efficiently. It is proved through interviewing teachers at the chalkface that they utilize instructional materials, and there are some differences between elementary schools and secondary schools about the media for creating the instructional materials, and the purpose of using them. The functional requirements of curation system for reusing and sharing instructional materials are derived from questionnaires. The investigation of the existing curation systems was conducted to identify the strategies for policy, design, standard, and tools for effective operation of the digital curation system. The tasks and the functions of the curation system designed by reflecting the results of this study are as following. The tasks related to individual workspace include 'authentication', 'system configuration', 'registration' of created materials, 'material keeping' for the individual, and 'reusing (editing)'. The tasks related to sharing workspace contain 'receiving' for sharing, 'archiving' for accessing, 'peer evaluation', 'accessing' through the retrieval, and 'bulletin board'.

Fundamental research for the development of personal protective equipment for emergency medical technicians (구급대원용 개인보호복 개발을 위한 기초연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for the development of personal protective equipment (PPE) for emergency medical technicians (EMTs) during chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive situations. Methods: Body measurements were obtained for adults aged from 20 to 59 years from the data in the 6 th Size Korea national sizing survey. These data were compared to the sizes of protective clothing currently available in the market. In-depth interviews with active paramedics with experiences of wearing PPE were conducted. Results: Most of the imported protective clothing turned out to be unfit for Korean adults. This showed the urgent need for developing appropriately sized protective clothing for Korean emergency technicians. In total, 55.0% of the respondents indicated that the current protective clothing is unsafe, and 71.0% requested the clothing to have level C protective performance. Regarding the design, many people wanted hooded all-in-one type of clothing. Conclusion: Considering these requirements, most of the wearers wanted their protective clothing to be fundamentally protective of their body, be available in various sizes with adjustable parts, and easy to wear and take off. They also wanted the clothing to be secure in clear sight, while not revealing any parts of their body and not interfringe with their ability to communicate with others.

The Study of Working Drawing Method in Interior Architecture (실내건축 실시설계도면 작성방법 연구)

  • Now interior designers have to meet this challenge by rising to the occasion and taking advantage of opportunities while strengthening their skills which have not kept pace with the increasing emphasis on design. furthermore, they are hampered by the lack of a general working design methodology. Interior designers in Korea have been slow to recognize the need for developing a specification methodology manual which could be adapted to meet varying requirements and modified to reflect designers experiences. The design process in Korean interior design often involves utilizing drawing document methods based on architectural prototypes rather than upon drawing methods developed by design firms as a result of work experience s and unique needs. However, these unique nees are nearly always limited by traditional working drawing methods. This has led to confusion and inaccuracies due to the lack of a single starndardized and universally acceptable working drawing methodology which is capable of reflecting the needs of all parties involved , partiality those of interior designers. This thesis is an attmepted to establish the necessity for developing a better working drawing methodogoy or technical mans of satisfying the information sorting and processing need s of interior design professionals, a five step suggestion for developing such a methodology follows. First, arrange pertinent design research information by means of a process which can be employed throughout the design process, from inception through to working drawing stage. The end result should be an interior architectural design process culminating in a pattern skillfully blending architecture, vision and product with environment . The design process should be manifested into a series of definable steps and yet sufficiently flexible and variable in order to provide the most apropos design solution. Secondly , motify the design methodology systematically according to site conditions and prevailing construction technology and manifest the design process in a booklet form so that it reflects a desired pattern. Thirdly, this methodology should incorporate a stand-ardized and functional process capable of being utilized to impact clear design concepts and objectives with preci-sion and efficiency in a manual form.

  • LED illumination has been developed from simple illumination to human oriented multi-functional system depending on the IT convergence trends. Thus, the convergence of IT technology such as various types of sensor and communication functions with application software can make saving of energy, and there are also several needs about the tailor-made illuminations requirements for the diverse users who want to take their own colors, strengths of the light. For the adaption of these kinds of intelligent system illumination, user oriented sensor and control should be possible. The LED lighting control system transmits and receives data via the Bluetooth mesh network and provides functions such as LED lighting control, LED lighting condition monitoring, energy usage monitoring, and energy peak point management. Therefore, in this paper, we suggest wireless communication platform and control system for the LED illumination control. We can expect life extension of LED illumination, and energy saving through this suggested system.

The implementation of interface between industrial PC and PLC for multi-camera vision systems (멀티카메라 비전시스템을 위한 산업용 PC와 PLC간 제어 방법 개발)

  • One of the most common applications of machine vision is quality inspections in automated production. In this study, a welding inspection system that is controlled by a PC and a PLC equipped with a multi-camera setup was developed. The system was designed to measure the primary dimensions, such as the length and width of the welding areas. The TCP/IP protocols and multi-threading techniques were used for parallel control of the optical components and physical distribution. A coaxial light was used to maintain uniform lighting conditions and enhance the image quality of the weld areas. The core image processing system was established through a combination of various algorithms from the OpenCV library. The proposed vision inspection system was fully validated for an actual weld production line and was shown to satisfy the functional and performance requirements.

  • This paper, proposes an integrated management platform to solve various management issues for multicast environments, which have been considered as an important transfer method together the appearance of multipeer applications recently(i.e,. IPME). First of all this paper describes the problems and related works of multicast environments, and proposes the general architecture of a management platform to manage multicast environments after considering design requirements to implement a proposed platform. This paper also proposes the management services to be provided, a general system architecture, its functional modules, and the management architecture such as a management procedure, establishment phases, management policies, and a Management Information Base(MIB) structure. In order to verify the proposed IPME, it is also applied and implemented as prototyping system to the QoS management service for H.263 video encoding/decoding system, that is IPME-QoS, which currently is a critical issue and uses multicast environments.
