커먼레일 엔진에서 노킹 진단 알고리즘 구현 및 OBD-II 진단기 S/W 설계 방안 (Implement of Knocking diagnostic algorithm and design of OBD-II Diagnostic system S/W on common-rail engine)

  • 국내외의 배출가스 규제 강화에 부합하기위하여, 사용자 의도에 따른 연료 분사시기와 분사량 조절이 가능한 커먼레일 ECU를 제어할 수 있는 알고리즘 개발의 필요에 따라서 본 논문에서는 커먼레일 엔진 전용 ECU에 적용할 수 있는 노킹 판별 및 엔진 밸런스 보정이 가능한 노킹 진단 알고리즘을 구현하여 시뮬레이터로 개발하였다. 또한 운전자가 직접 차량을 진단하는 운전자 중심의 진단 서비스를 제공하고자 시뮬레이터의 결과를 OBD-II 표준에 의거하는 차량 위주의 진단기로 개발하고자 한다. 이를 위해 자동차 고장진단 신호 및 센서 출력 신호를 송수신하는 유선 시스템과 무선 시스템인 블루투스 모듈을 이용하여 실시간 통신이 제공될 수 있는 OBD-II 진단기 S/W 설계방안을 제안함으로써 차량의 연비향상 및 유해가스 저감을 통한 엔진의 효율성 향상을 실현하도록 한다.

자연재생방식 DPF시스템 부착 경유승용차량의 PM재생 특성 연구 (A Study on PM Regeneration Characteristics of Diesel Passenger Vehicle with Passive Regeneration DPF System)

  • New diesel engines equipped with common-rail injection systems and advanced engine management control allow drastic decreases in the production of particulate matters and nitrogen oxides with a significant advantage in terms of the fuel consumption and $CO_2$ emissions. Nevertheless, the contribution of exhaust gas after treatment in the ultra low emission vehicles conception has become unavoidable today. Recently the passive type DPF(Diesel Particulate Filter Trap) system for diesel passenger vehicle has been manufactured into mass production from a French automotive maker since the year of 2000. This passive DPF system fully relies on the catalytic effects from additives blended into the diesel fuel and additives injected into the DPF system. In this study, the effects of PM regeneration in the commercial diesel passenger vehicle with the passive type DPF system were investigated in chassis dynamometer CVS(constant volume sampler)-75 mode. As shown in this experimental results, the DPF regeneration was observed at temperature as low as $350^{\circ}C$. And the engine-controlled the DPF regeneration founded to be one of the most promising regeneration technologies. Moreover, the durability of this DPF system was evaluated with a season weather in terms of the differential pressure and exhaust gas temperature traces from a road test during the total mileage of 80,000km.

바이오디젤이 혼합된 디젤 연료의 분무 및 연소 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Spray and Combustion Characteristics of Biodiesel Blended Diesel Fuel in a Constant Volume Combustion Chamber)

  • 바이오디젤은 재생가능한 친환경적인 연료로서 화석연료의 대체에너지로 수송분야에서 각광받고 있다. 따라서 바이오디젤의 사용량은 향후 꾸준히 증가할 것으로 보이며, 이에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 순수 디젤 대비 바이오디젤이 질량기준으로 0%, 5%, 20%, 50%, 100% 혼합된 연료를 사용하여 분무 및 연소실험을 진행하고, 분무각, 평균 입경, 열발생율 등의 특성을 도출하였다. 실험 결과, 바이오디젤의 혼합률이 증가할수록 연료의 점도 및 밀도가 증가하여 분무각과 특정 위치에서의 평균 입경이 작아지는 것을 확인할 수 있었으며, 바이오디젤의 함산소 특성으로 인해 초기 연소가 촉진되며, 이로 인해 연소 종료 시점이 앞당겨 지는 것을 볼 수 있었다.

  • Calculation of indicated mean effective pressure(IMEP) requires high cylinder pressure sampling rate and heavy computational load. Because of that, it is difficult to implement in a conventional electronic control unit. In this paper, a cylinder pressure based real-time IMEP estimation method is proposed for controller implementation. Crank angle at 10-bar difference pressure($CA_{DP10}$) and cylinder pressure difference between $60^{\circ}$ ATDC and $60^{\circ}$ BTDC($DP_{deg}$) are used for IMEP estimation. These pressure variables can represent effectively start of combustion(SOC) and fuel injection quantity respectively. The proposed IMEP estimation method is validated by transient engine operation using a common-rail direct injection diesel engine.

도시철도 소음저감시스템 시공기술 개발 (Development of Construction Technology for Noise Abatement System on Urban Railway)

  • Recently, the number of passengers using urban railway has been increased by reasons of the reductions of car use due to high fuel prices and the enlightenment about the environment. Above all, the noise and the vibration coming from the friction between the wheel and the rail of trains in operation which is not only a factor that hinders riding comforts but causes civil complaints. Furthermore, the noise has become social issues from tightening the relevant regulations by the government since January 2010. Although ballasted tracks were constructed on urban railways at the time of opening, they have been changed into slab tracks because slab tracks require much less maintenance. However, in view of sound absorptivity of track, slab tracks have 10 times less capability than ballasted tracks(ballasted track : 0.5~0.6/slab tracks : 0.06) results more noise than that of ballasted tracks as much as 3dB(A) since slab tracks emit more reflection noise. Therefore, in order to minimize reflection noise on slab tracks, noise abatement system has been developed as a national R&D program to apply on-site test. It is assumed that the construction technology developed in this study can be used not only as basic data for the on-site test for the noise reduction in urban railway but as an efficient construction method.

  • 최근 국 내외의 강화된 배출가스 규제 기준을 만족시킬 수 있는 CRDI 디젤엔진을 산업용 엔진에 적용하기 위해, 제작사에서만 제어할 수 있는 ECU를 사용자의 요구대로 분사시기와 분사량을 조절할 수 있는 엔진 제어 알고리즘을 개발하여, 엔진 성능 향상과 배출가스 저감 등을 위한 테스트 및 검증에 사용하고자 한다. 이러한 CRDI 디젤엔진 전용 Emulator를 개발하기 위해 CRDI 엔진 제어 ECU의 입력 요소 중 CKP와 CMP 센서의 작동원리를 이용하여 디젤 노킹을 판별하고 엔진 밸런스 보정 알고리즘의 설계 방안을 제안함으로써 연비 향상 및 유해 배출가스의 저감을 위한 효율적인 개선 방안을 제안한다.

Fast and Brand-Specific Calibration of Fuel-efficient Powertrains

  • Future emission legislation requirements especially the need for CO$_2$ reduction lead to more complex powertrain concepts with an increasing number of independent parameters to be calibrated. For gasoline engines concepts with variable valve timing, direct injection or variable charge motion are in development or already on production. Diesel engines with common rail systems offer a wide range of new injection strategies, the application of new exhaust aftertreatment systems leads to additional complexity. Furthermore a clear trend to highly sophisticated transmission concepts requires a perfect interaction of all powertrain components. While the higher complexity requires increasing test and development effort, the development duration is reduced significantly. Consequently, the potential of such systems cannot be fully utilised by traditional development and calibration approaches within the given timeframe. By introduction of intelligent methodologies f3r the calibration of modem powertrains the development becomes more efficient, faster and better in quality. However, even with standardised and automated calibration methods a differentiated brand-specific powertrain character has to be maintained comparable to a "handmade" calibration performed by highly experienced experts.

  • In the electro-hydraulic injector for the common rail Diesel fuel injection system, the injection nozzle is being opened and closed by movement of a injector's needle which is balanced by pressure at the nozzle seat and at the needle control chamber, at the opposite end of the needle. In this study, the piezo actuator was considered as a prime movers in high pressure Diesel injector. Namely a piezo-driven Diesel injector, as a new method driven by piezoelectric energy, has been applied with a purpose to develop the analysis model of the piezo actuator to predict the dynamics characteristics of the hydraulic component(injector) by using the AMESim code. Aimed at simulating the hydraulic behavior of the piezo-driven injector, the circuit model has been developed and verified by comparison with the experimental results. As this research results, we found that the input voltage exerted on piezo stack is the dominant factor which affects on the initial needle behavior of piezo-driven injector than the hydraulic force generated by the constant injection pressure. Also we know the piezo-driven injector has more degrees of freedom in controlling the injection rate with the high pressure than a solenoid-driven injector.

  • The static and dynamic behaviour of VGT and EGR systems has a significant impact on overall engine performance, fuel economy and exhaust emissions. This is because they define the state and composition of the air charge entering the engine. This work focused on the effect of the aperture ratio of VGT and EGR on the emission and flow characteristics under partial loads conditions. The investigation carried out using 2 liter PCCI 4 cylinder diesel engine with VGT and EGR. The result of this study shows that smoke increases with increasing EGR rate and NOx decreases with increasing EGR rate. It was also found that the residual gas contents greatly impact on soot emission under partial load condition. Finally, it can be concluded that VGT and EGR aperture ratio can greatly impact not only on soot and NOx but also air charging.

3리터급 DME 엔진용 LNT 후처리 장치 연구 (The Experimental Research of LNT for 3L-DME Engine)

  • This study is aimed to develop LNT(Lean NOx Trap) aftertreatment system for DME engine. Modified DME engine, which was changed from diesel to current DME engine, is used for this research and is equipped with common rail type injector and fuel supplying system. LNT system has reductant injector. DME is also used as reduction agent. For this research, reduction agent injection time width and interval were varied. And also, swirler was used to improve homogeneity of reducing agent in exhaust pipe. The reduction rate of NOx by LNT was increased by longer injection width, short interval and swirler. The maximum diminution of NOx by LNT was over 85%.
