The Effect of Back Rake Angle of Tool for Specific Cutting Resistance in Turning (선삭에서 공구의 윗면경사각이 비절삭저항에 미치는 영향)

  • Back rake angle of tool is one of the fundamental effects to the cutting ability. In this paper, for several back rake angle of lathe tool (-5$^{\circ}$ , 0$^{\circ}$ , 5$^{\circ}$ , 10$^{\circ}$ , 15$^{\circ}$ ), we experimentally examine cutting forces via orthogonal cutting. Using measured cutting forces, a formula for specific cutting resistance is derived according to the variation of tool angle. Also, the measured cutting forces are analyzed in both time and frequency domain. Cutting parameters are obtained by measuring the thickness of chip, and the effect of the back rake angle of tool is manifested. This study maintains the predicted cutting model with improved accuracy.

Isolation and Resistance Patterns of E. coli from Domestic Animals and Dranage in 1987 (가축 및 하천에서 분리한 대장균의 항균제내성)

  • One hundred and sixteen strains of E. coli isolated from drainage in Seoul city in 1987 and 104 strains of E. coli isolated from stools of domestic animals in suburb of Seoul in 1987 were examined for susceptibilities to 10 antimicrobial agents by the agar dilution method. The susceptibilities of the two groups to each antimicrobial agent were compared and correlations in the antimicrobial susceptibility of the 220 strains of E. coli among the 10 antimicrobial agents were also analyzed. The frequency of resistance strains was highest to tetracycline with 77%, and followed by chloramphenicol, streptomycin, ampicillin, kanamycin and cephalosporin in the descreasing order, tanging from 62% to 10%. Strains resistant to tobramycin, nalidixic acid, gentamicin and amikacin occupied 3 strains, 2 strains, 2 strains and 1 strain respectively.

  • In the vector control methods of induction motor, the stator current is divided into the flux and torque component current. By controlling these components respectively, the methods control independently flux and torque as in the DC motor and improve the control effects. To apply the vector control methods, the position of the rotor current is identified. The indirect vector control use the parameters of the machine to identify the position of rotor flux. But due to the temperature rise during machine operation, the variation of rotor resistance degrades the vector control. To solve the problem, the q-axis is aligned to reference frame without phase difference by comparing the real flux component with the reference flux component. Then to compensate the slip, PI controller is used. The proposed method keeps a constant slip by compensating the gain of direct slip frequency when the rotor resistance of induction motor varies. To prove the validations of the proposed algorithm in the paper, computer simulations is executed.

Feasibility Study for Wear Resistance of Rails (레일의 내마모성에 대한 타당성 연구)

  • Rails are continuously exposed to severe environments due to increases in train service frequency, passing tonnage, and speed. Wear is one of the most common types of damage observed on rails. The surface of railsis heat treated to secure safety at critical sites, such as curved tracks or turnouts. Ultrasonic nanocrystal surface modification (UNSM), a new approach for rails, was examined to strengthen the rail surface. The effect of UNSM on the wear resistance of rail specimens was compared with that of heat treatment. Wear resistance was improved after UNSM treatment due to increased hardness and surface compressive residual stress.

  • The real part of the impedance of dipole antenna is computed rigorously instead of solving a boundary value problem of a partial differential equation. In this paper the resistance of the dipole antennas, whose shape was determined from an ordinary differential equation of first order and the length 2h is in the limits of , were computed and measured. The frequency used was 1500MC and the image screen, 93$\times$93$\textrm{cm}^2$ rectangular aluminium plate, was used for the measurements. The measured resistance was consistent with the theoretical result.

  • To study the resistance mechanism of E. faecalis to LCB01-0371, several resistant mutants to LCB01-0371 or linezolid were isolated by step-wise selection. The frequency of spontaneous mutations resistant to LCB01-0371 was lower than that of linezolid in E. faecalis. The genetic variations in resistant mutants were analyzed by DNA sequencing of domain V of 23S rRNA in each mutant. The first-step mutant to LCB01-0371 had a G2576T point mutation in V domain of 23S rRNA. However, no resistant mutant to LCB01-0371 was isolated in second-step mutant selection.

Electrical Properties of High Power Step Down Multilayer Piezoelectric Transformer using Low Temperature Sintering PMN-PNN-PZT Ceramics (저온소결 PMN-PNN-PZT 세라믹스를 이용한 고출력 강압용 적층 압전변압기의 전기적 특성)

  • In this study, multilayer piezoelectric transformer was manufactured using the PMN-PNN-PZT ceramic and then the electrical characteristics were investigated according to the variations of frequency and load resistance. The voltage step-up ratio of multilayer piezoelectric transformer showed the maximum value at the vicinity of 75 kHz and increased according to the increase of load resistance. When the output impedance coincided with the load resistance, the multilayer piezoelectric transformer showed the temperature rise of less than $20^{\circ}C$ at the output power of 20 W. As the results, the multilayer piezoelectric transformer manufactured at low co-firing temperature of $940^{\circ}C$ using PMN-PNN-PZT ceramics could be stably driven as the step-down transformers.

  • In this study, low temperature sintering multilayer piezoelectric transformer for DC-DC converter were manufactured using (PbCaSr)Ti(MnSb)$O_3$ ceramics and thin their electrical properties were investigated according to the vanation of frequency and load resistance. The voltage step-up ratio of multilayer piezoelectric transformer showed the maximum value m the vicinity of 1.3MHz and increased according to the increase of load resistance. When the output impedance coincided with the load resistance, the piezoelectric transformer showed the temperature rise of about $21^{\circ}C$ under the output power of 6W.

  • A new type of piezoelectric transformer using radial vibration of disk, poled with the same direction is proposed. The piezoelectric ceramics was composed to PZT-PMN-PSN. The surface ratio of driving electrode and generating electrode of the piezoelectric transformer ranges from 1.4:1 to 3:1. As a experimental result, both resonance frequency and step-up voltage ratio increased with increasing load resistance. The step-up voltage ratio was reached more than 60 times under no load resistance. The maximum efficiency of 97.7% at load resistance of 2k${\Omega}$ was obtained.

  • A new resistance model for a Schottky Barrier Diode (SBD) in CMOS technology is proposed in this paper. The proposed model includes the n-well thickness as a variable to explain the operational behavior of a planar SBD which is firstly introduced in this paper. The model is verified using the simulation methodology ATLAS. For verification of the analyzed model and the ATLAS simulation results, SBD prototypes are fabricated using a $0.13{\mu}m$ CMOS process. It is demonstrated that the model and simulation results are consistent with measurement results of fabricated SBD.
