  • This paper is described the development of on-line partial discharge detector for high voltage apparatus. This detector consists of acoustic and high frequency current sensors, amplifier part, A/D converter part, data communication part and computer. The contents of paper are characteristics of units and digital signal processing for reducing noise in partial discharge detection. We seek methods to do good digital signal processing for detection of partial discharge. We apply digital filtering methods to the elect Tic signal and a cross con-elation to the acoustic signal. This paper shows the characteristics of these filtering method and cross con-elation in partial discharge detection.

  • In this paper, an experiment was performed to confirm the effectiveness and the reliability of the wireless fire detector with a 2.4 GHz wireless module which is widely used for commercial purpose. It was the experiment of transmitted waves of wireless signals using samples of typical obstacles such as walls which may affect the wireless communication environment in the building. The experiment results show that the transmitted signal had differences in the response characteristics by wall types.

  • This paper present the way the fire detector determines whether a fire has broken out or not using the fuzzy measure. This method is based on Dempster's combination rule using the belief measure. The detector indicate a 'Fire'(F) or 'Nonfire'(N) when it determines whether a fire has broken out or not. To determine this, the fuzzy rule is applied in the setting value for the heat and smoke detector which is used. As a result, It is proved that the final decision can be determined more exactly whether a fire has broken out or not in proportion to the frequency of the fuzzy measure and the value of Bel (F).

  • In this paper, a new differential detector is introduced, in which a solar cell is used to reduce the low frequency interference from environmental optical noise. The solar cell also supplies electrical power to the detector circuit using the optical noise power. The DC voltage from the solar cell is used as a power supply to the detector, and the AC voltage is used to reduce the optical noise in a photodiode with the differential detection method. The signal to noise ratio was improved by about 20 dB.

  • In this paper, we propose efficient design and construction of an infrared wide angle optical system with low distortion utilizing a high resolution detector for automobile application. The operational convenience and the recognition ability have been improved significantly by applying the high resolution uncooled thermal detector with wide angle optical design. The active ahtermalization mechanism is implemented so that the adjustment of the optical component of the system is to be made automatically according to the temperature change by motorized control. The modulation transfer function (MTF) is about 50% at the Nyquist frequency close the diffraction limit. The distortion is less than 5% at the edge field. As a result, a high-resolution uncooled thermal optical system with wide field of view (FOV) is assembled, aligned and its performance is tested successfully.

  • Teager-Kaiser algorithm that can track the energy of tone signals with simple nonlinear operations, has been applied to detection of tone signals closely spaced in frequency. The performance of the previous detector depends upon the performance of internal filters. An improved scheme is proposed in this paper by employing the nonlinear energy trackers in cascade. The proposed detector is analytically designed and verified by computer simulation. It shows that the new detection scheme improves the detection performance while reducing the implementation complexity.

  • To reduce the number of radio frequency (RF) chains in multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems, generalized spatial modulation (GSM) techniques have been proposed in the literature. In this paper, we propose a zero-forcing (ZF)-based detector, which performs an initial pruning of the search tree that will be considered as the initial condition in a sphere decoding (SD) algorithm. The proposed method significantly reduces the computational complexity of GSM systems while achieving a near maximum likelihood (ML) performance. We analyze the performance of the proposed method and provide an analytic performance difference between the proposed method and the ML detector. Simulation results show that the performance of the proposed method is very close to that of the ML detector, while achieving a significant computational complexity reduction in comparison with the conventional SD method, in terms of the number of visited nodes. We also present some simulations to assess the accuracy of our theoretical results.

  • This paper presents a jitter and phase noise characteristic improved phase-locked loop (PLL) with loop filter voltage detector(LFVD) and frequency voltage converter(FVC). Loop filter output voltage variation is determined through a circuit made of resistor and capacitor. The output signal of a small RC time constant circuit is almost the same as to loop filter output voltage. The output signal of a large RC time constant circuit is the average value of loop filter output voltage and becomes a reference voltage to the added LFVD. The LFVD output controls the current magnitude of sub-charge pump. When the loop filter output voltage increases, LFVD decreases the loop filter output voltage. When the loop filter output voltage decreases, LFVD increases the loop filter output voltage. In addition, FVC also improves the phase noise characteristic by reducing the loop filter output voltage variation. The proposed PLL with LFVD and FVC is designed in a 0.18um CMOS process with 1.8V power voltage. Simulation results show 0.854ps jitter and 30㎲ locking time.

  • A 26.4 GHz phase locked oscillator(PLO) for communication satellite transponder is developed. The PLO consists of fundamental frequency generation module(FFGM) and frequency multiplication part(FMP). The signal of 26.4 GHz is generated through frequency tripling process of 8.8 GHz fundamental frequency. Phase locking technique using sampling phase detector(SPD) is adopted to design the FFGM. The MMIC tripler and amplifier are also designed for the reduction of the size and mass of FMP. The phase noise characteristics are exhibited as -96 dBc/Hz at 10 tHz offset frequency and -105 dBc/Hz at 100 kHz offset frequency, respectively, with the output power over 11 dBm. All performance parameters are complied with the design requirements.

  • This paper reports an Integer-N phase locked loop (PLL) frequency synthesizer which was implemented in a 250nm standard digital CMOS process for a UHF RFID wireless communication system. The main blocks of PLL have been designed including voltage controlled oscillator, phase frequency detector, and charge pump. The LC VCO has been used for a better noise property and low-power design. The source and drain juntions of PMOS transistors are used as the varactor diodes. The ADF4111 of Analog Device has been used for the external pre-scaler and N-divider to divide VCO frequency and a third order RC filter is designed for the loop filter. The measured results show that the RF output power is -13dBm with 50$\Omega$ load, the phase noise is -91.33dBc/Hz at 100KHz offset frequency, and the maximum lock-in time is less than 600us from 930MHz to 970MHz.
