  • The correlation identification of the subsurface is a novel electrical prospecting method which could suppress stochastic noise. This method is increasingly being utilized by geophysicists. It achieves the frequency response of the underground media through division of the cross spectrum of the input & output signal and the auto spectrum of the input signal. This is subject to the spectral leakage when the cross spectrum and the auto spectrum are computed from cross correlation and autocorrelation function by Discrete Fourier Transformation (DFT, "To obtain an accurate frequency response of the earth system, we propose an improved correlation identification method which uses all phase Fast Fourier Transform (APFFT) to acquire the cross spectrum and the auto spectrum. Simulation and engineering application results show that compared to existing correlation identification algorithm the new approach demonstrates more precise frequency response, especially the phase response of the system under identification.

  • Recently, many examples of practical applications of the motors with reluctance torque, such as IPMSM, RM, etc. are reported. However, the problems of the torque ripple produced by the IPMSM, are also presented. The main reasons of the torque ripple generation are the structural imperfectness of the IPMSM and its control system, such as the cogging torque of the motor, the dead time of inverter, sensors offset, imbalance and non-linearity, and so on. In this paper, authors propose a suppression control method of the torque ripple for IPMSM utilizing the repetitive control with the Fourier transformer and a vibration signal detected by an acceleration sensor attached to the motor frame, considering periodicity of the motor torque ripple. An experimental system to simulate the compliant mechanical frame is constructed, and the effectiveness of the proposed method is confirmed by experimental results.

  • An analytical method for the hydroelastic vibration of a vessel composed of an upper annular plate and a lower circular plate is developed by the Rayleigh-Ritz method. The two plates are clamped along a rigid cylindrical vessel wall. It is assumed that the fluid bounded by a rigid cylindrical vessel is incompressible and non-viscous. The wet mode shape of the plates is assumed as a combination of the dry mode shapes of the plates. The fluid motion is described by using the fluid displacement potential and determined by using the compatibility conditions along the fluid interface with the plate. Minimizing the Rayleigh quotient based on the energy conservation gives an eigenvalue problem. It is found that the theoretical results can predict well the fluid-coupled natural frequencies comparing with the finite element analysis result.

  • Vegetation cover classification is examined based on a time series NOAA/AVHRR data. Time series data analysis methods including Fourier transform, Auto-Regressive (AR) model and temporal signature similarity matching are developed to extract phenological features of vegetation from a time series NDVI data from NOAA/AVHRR and to classify vegetation types. In the Fourier transform method, typical three spectral components expressing the phenological features of vegetation are selected for classification, and also in the AR model method AR coefficients are selected. In the temporal signature similarity matching method a new index evaluating the similarity of temporal pattern of the NDVI is introduced for classification.

  • Signal propagation in nonlinear optical fiber is analyzed numerically by using SS-FEM (Split-Step Finite Element Method). By adopting cubic element function in FEM, soliton equation of which exact solution was well known, has been solved. Also, accuracy of numerical results and computing times are compared with those of Fourier method, and we have found that solution obtained from using FEM was very relatively accurate. Especially, to reduce CPU time in matrix computation in each step, the matrix imposed by the boundary condition is approximated as a sparse matrix. As a result, computation time was shortened even with the same or better accuracy when compared to those of the conventional FEM and Fourier method.

  • Even if the DFT calculation is one of the general method to do phasor estimation, it can't adapt to alteration of the frequency. The Frequency is fastened to 60Hz in the ideal power system. However the frequency is not constant in real power system and fluctuates more followed by conditions of the power system. In these cases, the accurate phasor estimation is impossible by using a common DFT calculation, so that a frequency - adaptive phasor estimation method based on the fourier transform is proposed in this paper.

  • This paper describes a new method to eliminate some selected harmonics in PWM waveforms using the Walsh series which substitute the linear algebraic equations for the nonlinear equations required in the Fourier series harmonic elimination. In addition, this method is simulated to synthesize periodic PWM waveforms and compare the Walsh analysis with the FOurier analysis, Experimental results are shown that a singel-phase PWM waveforms are identified with the proposed Walsh Series.

  • An analysis of the free vibration for the metal-piezoceramic laminated thin plates is described. The purpose of this study is to develop a equivalent method for the free vibration analysis of metal-piezoce-ramic laminated thin plate which are not sysmmetric about the adhered layer and the piezoelectric effect. In order to confirm the validity of the vibration analysis, double Fourier sine series is used as a modal displacement function of a metal-piezoceramic laminated thin plate and applied to the free vibration analysis of the plate under various boundary conditions.
