Shape and location estimation using prior information obtained from the modified Newton-Raphson method

  • In most boundary estimation algorithms estimation in EIT (Electrical Impedance Tomography), anomaly boundaries can be expressed with Fourier series and the unknown coefficients are estimated with proper inverse algorithms. Furthermore, the number of anomalies is assumed to be available a priori. The prior knowledge on the number of anomalies may be unavailable in some cases, and we need to determine the number of anomalies with other methods. This paper presents an algorithm for the boundary estimation in EIT (Electrical Impedance Tomography) using the prior information from the conventional Newton-Raphson method. Although Newton-Raphson method generates so poor spatial resolution that the anomaly boundaries are hardly reconstructed, even after a few iterations it can give general feature of the object to be imaged such as the number of anomalies, their sizes and locations, as long as the anomalies are big enough. Some numerical experiments indicate that the Newton-Raphson method can be used as a good predictor of the unknown boundaries and the proposed boundary discrimination algorithm has a good performance.

굴패각 배합 석고재료의 열전도 특성 연구 (A Study on Thermal Conduction in Oyster Shell Incorporating Gypsum Objects)

  • 굴 패각분말을 함유한 석고시험체를 통하여 1차원 열전달 특성을 조사하였다. 굴패각 성분의 함유량이 늘어날수록 기공을 포함한 시험체의 구조적 변형에 근거하여 흡착과 같은 물리화학적 특성이 증가함에 따라 시험체 전체의 열전달 특성도 달라질 것으로 예측되었다. 푸리에(Fourier) 열전도 방정식을 기초로 하여 1차원 슬랩의 열전도 현상을 수치모사한 결과 패각분말의 배합도 및 각 성분재료의 열전달관련 물리적 계수에 따라 상당한 열전도 분포의 변화를 관측할 수 있었으며 이는 모형실험 결과와도 잘 부합하였다.

  • In this paper a method for analysis and modelling of coplanar transmission interconnect lines that are placed on top of silicon-silicon oxide substrates is presented. The potential function is expressed by series expansions in terms of solutions of the Laplace equation for each homogeneous region of layered structure. The expansion coefficients of different series are related to each other and to potentials applied to the conductors via boundary conditions. In the plane of conductors, boundary conditions are satisfied at $N_d$ discrete points with $N_d$ being equal to the number of terms in the series expansions. The resulting system of inhomogeneous linear equations is solved by matrix inversion. No iterations are required. A discussion of the calculated line admittance parameters as functions of width of conductors, thickness of the layers, and frequency is given. The interconnect capacitance and conductance per unit length results are given and compared with those obtained using full wave solutions, and good agreement have been obtained in all the cases treated

  • A special system of partial differential equations (PDEs) occur in a natural way while studying a class of irrotational inviscid fluid flow problems involving infinite channels. Certain aspects of solutions of such PDEs are analyzed in the context of flow problems involving multiple layers of fluids of different constant densities in a channel associated with arbitrary bottom topography. The whole analysis is divided into two parts-part A and part B. In part A the linearized theory is employed along with the standard Fourier analysis to understand such flow problems and physical quantities of interest are derived analytically. In part B, the same set of problems handled in part A are examined in the light of a weakly non-linear theory involving perturbation in terms of a small parameter and it is shown that the original problems can be cast into KdV type of nonlinear PDEs involving the bottom topography occurring in one of the coefficients of these equations. Special cases of bottom topography are worked out in detail and expressions for quantities of physical importance are derived.

  • New Image registration techniques are developed for determining geometric distortions between two images of the same scene. First, the properties of the Fourier transform of a two dimensional function under the affine transformation are given. As a result, techniques for the estimation of the coefficients of the distortion model using the spectral frequency information are developed. Image registration can be achieved by applying the fast Fourier transform (FFT) technique for cross correlation of misregistered imagery to determine spatial distances. The correlation results may be rather broad, making detection of the peak difficult, what can be suppressed by enhancing cross-correlation technique. Yield greatly improves the delectability and high precision of image misregistration.

  • 마이크로어레이 유전자 발현 데이터인 yeast cdc15에 대해 시계열 데이터의 특성을 반영한 푸리에 계수를 이용한 검정통계량과 FDR 다중비교법을 이용하여 차별화된 유전자를 선별한 후 선별된 유전자들에 대해 모형기반 군집방법, K-평균법, PAM, SOM, 계층적 Ward 군집방법과 Fuzzy 군집방법을 실시하였다. 군집방법에 따른 특성을 알아보고 군집화 결과와 내부유효성 측도로 연결성 측도, Dunn 지수와 실루엣 값을 살펴본다. 또한 GO분석을 통한 생물학적 의미도 파악해본다.

Hydrodynamic forces on blocks and vertical wall on a step bottom

  • A study, using potential water wave theory, is conducted on the oblique water wave motion over two fixed submerged rectangular blocks (breakwaters) placed over a finite step bottom. We have considered infinite and semi-infinite fluid domains. In both domains, the Fourier expansion method is employed to obtain the velocity potentials explicitly in terms of the infinite Fourier series. The unknown coefficients appearing in the velocity potentials are determined by the eigenfunction expansion matching method at the interfaces. The derived velocity potentials are used to compute the hydrodynamic horizontal and vertical forces acting on the submerged blocks for different values of block thickness, gap spacing between the two blocks, and submergence depth of the upper block from the mean free surface. In addition, the wave load on the vertical wall is computed in the case of the semi-infinite fluid domain for different values of blocks width and the incident wave angle. It is observed that the amplitudes of hydrodynamic forces are negligible for larger values of the wavenumber. Furthermore, the upper block experiences a higher hydrodynamic force than the lower block, regardless of the gap spacing, submergence depth, and block thickness.

푸리에 서술자를 이용한 물체 인식 (Object Recognition by Fourier Descriptor)

  • 푸리에 서술자는 물체의 경계를 표현하는 일반적인 방법이다. 본 논문에서는 이 푸리에 서술자를 이용하여 물체를 인식할 수 있는 알고리즘을 구축하고 실제로 8가지 의 도구들을 구분 인식할 수 있는지를 직접 적용하여 알고리즘의 타당성 검토와 여러 분야에 응용될 수 있음을 추론하였다. 이 알고리즘 구축은 이미지 형성과정과 물체 인식 과정으로 분리하여 생각한다. 이미지 형성 과정은 가능한 인식을 용이하도록 적 절한 조도, 투영시각, 배경과 물체간에 선명한 대비를 이루는 것이 중요하다. 물체 인식과정은 푸리에 서술자와 경계선 매칭을 사용하여 여러 물체 가운데 최소 거리를 산출한 것을 인식한다. 또한 물체가 회전, 위치 변위, 확대 축소 변형에도 인식이 가 가능한지를 시험한다. 인식 과정을 신속히 수행하기 위해 푸리에 서술자 1024개중에 1/4 만을 사용하여 이를 달성한다.

Effective time-frequency characterization of Lamb wave dispersion in plate-like structures with non-reflecting boundaries

  • Research on Lamb wave-based damage identification in plate-like structures depends on precise knowledge of dispersive wave velocity. However, boundary reflections with the same frequency of interest and greater amplitude contaminate direct waves and thus compromise measurement of Lamb wave dispersion in different materials. In this study, non-reflecting boundaries were proposed in both numerical and experimental cases to facilitate time-frequency characterization of Lamb wave dispersion. First, the Lamb wave equations in isotropic and laminated materials were analytically solved. Second, the non-reflecting boundaries were used as a series of frames with gradually increased damping coefficients in finite element models to absorb waves at boundaries while avoiding wave reflections due to abrupt property changes of each frame. Third, damping clay was sealed at plate edges to reduce the boundary reflection in experimental test. Finally, the direct waves were subjected to the slant-stack and short-time Fourier transformations to calculate the dispersion curves of phase and group velocities, respectively. Both the numerical and experimental results suggest that the boundary reflections are effectively alleviated, and the dispersion curves generated by the time-frequency analysis are consistent with the analytical solutions, demonstrating that the combination of non-reflecting boundary and time-frequency analysis is a feasible and reliable scheme for characterizing Lamb wave dispersion in plate-like structures.

접지된 2중 유전체층 사이의 저항띠 격자에 대해 FGMM과 PMM을 적용한 TM 산란 해 (Solution of TM Scattering Applying FGMM and PMM for Resistive Strip Grating Between a Grounded Double Dielectric Layer)

  • 본 논문에서는 접지된 2중 유전체층 사이의 저항띠 격자구조에 의한 TM(tranverse magnetic) 전자파 산란문제를 전자파 수치해석방법으로 알려진 FGMM(fourier galerkin moment method)과 PMM(point matching method)을 이용하여 해석하였다. 경계조건들은 미지의 계수를 구하기 위하여 이용하였으며, 저항띠의 해석을 위해 저항경계조건을 적용하였다. 전반적으로 저항율이 작으면 저항띠에 유도되는 전류밀도의 크기가 증가하였고, 반사전력도 증가하였다. 또한, 유전체층의 두께와 비유전율의 값이 증가하면 전반적으로 반사전력은 증가하였다. 본 논문의 제안된 구조에 대해 FGMM과 PMM의 수치해석 방법을 적용한 수치결과들은 매우 잘 일치하였다.
