  • The study aims to investigate the implementation of the internal quality assurance system (IQAS) on HEIs performance, mediated by financial management accountability. The commitment from foundation leadership on financial management accountability and their implications for HEIs' performance is also carefully examined. This study employs samples of 108 respondents from the leadership of private HEIs under Region IV Service Institutions. The purposive sampling, as a part of non-probability sampling was chosen as the sampling technique. Statistical data analysis conducted by use the structural equation model to test the hypothesis. The results reveal that the implementation of IQAS does not influence the financial management accountability, but it has an essential role on HEIs' performance. Moreover, foundation leadership's commitment has a significant positive effect on financial management accountability and HEIs' performance. Financial management accountability also has a significant positive effect on HEIs' performance. Financial management becomes important because the entire activities of HEIs should end with financial reporting. Therefore, financial and non-financial aspects are two interrelated and complementary aspects in the accreditation process. The findings of this study suggest that that performance measurement is very crucial as a part of the efforts to meet the general accountability requirement for organizations, particularly in HEIs.

  • This study examined the background and change of building Yeongam eupseong and characteristics and construction method of its spatial structure. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, Yeongam eupseong was built for the same purpose of national border defense against the invasion of Japanese army as other Eupseongs were built and it was found first in the literature in the era of King Munjong of Joseon Dynasty with the scale of three gates and 4,369 cheok of castle wall. Such a scale was continued and in particular, according to flat structure, road network and gate position shown in the map, the form and road system of Yeongam eupseong before the 19th century were mostly identical with the current ones. Second, castle wall was built over foundation by using talcum after leveling the foundation soil and castle wall can be divided into outer wall, filling part and inner wall from the section. Outer wall was constructed by inserting and layering pebbles with big irregular stone, filling part was made with talcum and riprap and inner wall with soil in several layers by keeping gradient. This building method showed common features in inserting and layering pebbles for outer wall, use of protruded base and section form compared to Jeollado Eupseong.

  • The structures such as railway bridges can be modelled as the multi-span beam on the elastic foundation. These structures are usually subject to the moving load, which has a great effect on dynamic stresses and can cause severe motions, especially at high velocities. In this paper, the dynamic responses of the multi-span beam on the elastic foundation were obtained by using the Galerkin's method and the numerical time integration technique. As trial functions, the same orthogonal polynomial functions obtained in part 1, were used. From the numerical results, it was found that the one term expansion of the assumed solution usually leads to the accurate solutions. However, in the case that the stiffness of the transnational spring is very high or the rotational spring is placed where the slope of the first mode is zero, the higher modes must be included to obtain the accurate solutions.

  • Demand on pile foundation is rapidly increasing, as an investment for the social overhead capital getting enlarged in Korea. Steel piles are in general use in construction due to their workability and superior durability. But the recent global rise in steel price led the engineers to seeking for an economical alternative that still has equivalent characteristics as compared with the steel pile. In this regard a composite pile, in which steel suitable to resist the tensile stress are used in the upper part of the pile, while less expensive PHC pile is adopted in the lower part of the pile where axial stress should prevail, was studied and both pile loading test and load transfer test were performed for the piles which have been constructed for the foundation of a bridge in Korea. These test results and some theories already issued were compared, and it was shown that p-y nonlinear analysis gave rise to similar results.

  • A number of tangible cultural properties have been left to suffering damage without any scientific conservation or maintenance. We conducted nondestructive geophysical explorations around the Western pagoda of the Iksan Mireuksa Temple for the purpose of preparing the counterplan of its conservation and maintenance and of utilizing the geophysical information for the design of repair. Geophysical image of the shallow subsurface around the construct resulting from electric resistivity, seismic refraction, and GPR methods carried out along 6 lines in the site was used to investigate the relationship between the foundation characteristics and the structural safety. Tilting of the pagoda southwest towards seems to result from the low resistivity zones found in the southwestern part. The GPR and seismic surveys revealed a boundary at depth of 3.3~3.5m dividing into two layers, compacted overlaid soil and the original ground. The boundary appears to dip southwest. The artificial layer as a foundation does not covers as much as the bottom area of the pagoda. This top soil dipping southwest seems to result in tilting of foundation southwestward towards. Our geophysical result suggests ground reinforcement in the western part of the survey area for the conservation of the construct.

  • This study deals with the manufacturing of the foundation garments for the well-balanced somatotype of the Korean middle-aged womenhood. In order to get hold of the different somatotypes, a survey of a total of 134 middle-aged women in Kwangju area, ranging in their age from 45 through 59 was made. The statistical methods used for the analysis of the basic data were the Pearson's correlation coefficient, Anova, Cluster analysis and Stepwise. Emphasis of the try-on test was placed on (1) the comparison of anthropometric data before and after trying on the foundation garments, (2) sensory evaluation, (3) a rating on fit and performance, (4) the comparison by means of photograph. The conclusions obtained are as follows : 1) The 134 women sampled and measured were classified into the five groups of somatotype : the 52 women (34%) belong to Cluster 1 ; the 22 women(14.5%) belong in Cluster 2 ; the 12 women(7.9%) belong in Cluster 3 ; the 15 women(9.9%) belong in Cluster 4 ; the 33 women(27.7%) belong to Cluster 5. 2) As for the characteristics of the foundation garment design, the V-shaped neckline and chest dart was used. The adjust point is right above the perineum point. The foundation garment length is as far as trochanteric point. The materials used are cotton/polyurethane, lace, 100%cotton. The materials used for corrections were the sponge pad for the chest, and non-woven fabric pad for the back, shoulder and the hip. 3) The comparison of the anthropometric data of the subject when dressed in foundation garments showed a significant difference in bust point height, in bust point length and in nipple-ta-nipple breadth, which proves the foundation garments to be effective in correcting such part as the chest, the hip and the abdomen. 4) As considered in terms of the sensory evaluation, the item except for the shoulder and the armhole coincided with each other in the mean value and in the composite reliability coefficient, which also proves the foundation garments to be effective. 5) Subjects were satisfactory on fit, performance, design, of the foundation garment, and their changed appearance. 6) In the case of the comparison through the photographs, the silhouettes of all the five women subjects were found effectively to be balanced.

  • This study is carried out to analyze the design method and safety rate degree for IEC 61400-3, DNV-OS-J101, GL Wind, EUROCODE, AASHTO and domestic design standard used for offshore wind turbine foundation design. The findings will provide a design parameter for domestic offshore wind turbine foundation design. The design of the steel Support Structure of an offshore wind turbine can be based on either the Allowable Stress Design(ASD) approach or the Load and Resistance Factor Design(LRFD) approach. The design principles with the use of LRFD method are described with various limit states. A limit state is a condition beyond which a structure or part of a structure exceeds a specified design requirement. Design by the LRFD method is a design method by which the target component safety level is obtained by applying load and resistance factors to characteristic reference values of loads (load effects)and structural resistance. When the strength design of the steel Support Structure is based on the ASD approach, the design acceptance criteria are to be expressed in terms of appropriate basic allowable stresses in accordance with the requirements specified. After comparison an economics domestic offshore wind turbine foundation standard will be developed.

  • This study is intended to understand an implication and significant of anti-design and Italian radical fashion. Anti-design and radicalism is the main stream or origin and essence of post-modernism which hs been swaying our society at large through modern culture, economy, art, fashion etc, from the latter part of 1960s. In this paper, the author classified the italian radical fashion with the Archizoom, the Alchymia, the memphis fashion. In post-modernism fashion, radical fashion design of the Archizoom, Alchymia and Memphis group is in part a menifesto and in part a noncanonical history of the most progressive and heretical experiments of the world of fashion. Anti-designers of Italy call for a theory an practive in which the old methods and instruments and the old commendments of modernism are banished. They looked on fashion as material culture, a creative field with its own independent foundation and endowed with its own strong artistic intuition. IF radical design is dead, the energy it has stirred up is still alive nd kicking. One of the most progressive and well-informed culture milieus in Milian, seved as a point of reference for the vanguard of fashion.

  • This thesis attempts to contribute to analyze the methods of pattern grading which is in common fashion in America and Japan and to make the foundation for the basic technique of pattern grading fitting to Korean body shape. There are two types in pattern grading. The results are as follows: 1) The pattern grading according to body shape contains A, B, C, D, F, and G. A is suitable for the bulging part of a body and F is the most suitable for the general part of a body. 2) The pattern grading not depending on body shape has no relation to the quantity of grading in the size of a body but includes silhouettes or design details. The standards of its methods are as follows: a) by the part of body b) by the balance of whole pattern c) by adjusting to the mutual balance of besign details.
