The knowledge of the waves passing through the breakwater makes an important role in the efficient breakwater design. Wave diffraction is an important factor in this role, but some usable development about it have not been made in our country as yet. The diffraction of sea-water waves round the end of a semi-infinite impermeable breakwater has been investigated, applying a solution of the water wave diffraction problems given by Penney & Price. The wave pattern and heights on both the leewardside and the windward-side of the breakwater have been calculated and summarized in the form of diagrams with diffraction factors between $r/{\lambda}=0~50$. This involves some extension of the diffraction diagrams made previously. The theory and computation methods with computer program in fortran IV developed in this study make an efficient use for estimating the diffraction effects at a semi-infinite breakwater.
This study presents a 4 node, 11 DOF/node plate element based on higher order shear deformation theory for lamina composite plates. The theory accounts for parabolic distribution of the transverse shear strain through the thickness of the plate. Differential field equations of composite plates are obtained from energy methods using virtual work principle. Differential field equations of composite plates are obtained from energy methods using virtual work principle. These equations were transformed into the operator form and then transformed into functions with geometric and dynamic boundary conditions with the help of the Gâteaux differential method, after determining that they provide the potential condition. Boundary conditions were determined by performing variational operations. By using the mixed finite element method, plate element named HOPLT44 was developed. After coding in FORTRAN computer program, finite element matrices were transformed into system matrices and various analyzes were performed. The current results are verified with those results obtained in the previous work and the new results are presented in tables and graphs.
In the present paper it is aimed to perform the stochastic dynamic analysis of fluid and fluidstructure systems by using the Lagrangian approach. For that reason, variable-number-nodes twodimensional isoparametric fluid finite elements are programmed in Fortran language by the authors and incorporated into a general-purpose computer program for stochastic dynamic analysis of structure systems, STOCAL. Formulation of the fluid elements includes the effects of compressible wave propagation and surface sloshing motion. For numerical example a rigid fluid tank and a dam-reservoir interaction system are selected and modeled by finite element method. Results obtained from the modal analysis are compared with the results of the analytical and numerical solutions. The Pacoima Dam record S16E component recorded during the San Fernando Earthquake in 1971 is used as a ground motion. The mean of maximum values of displacements and hydrodynamic pressures are compared with the deterministic analysis results.
A procedure for the optimal design of high quality rectifiers is introduced in this paper. The procedure is capable of producing different optimal designs for the same rectifier based on the objective performance required from that rectifier. A FORTRAN-based computer system designed to solve large-scale optimization problems was used in this work to obtain the optimal designs. The optimization program uses Wolfe algorithm in conjunction with a quasi-Newton algorithm as well as a projected augmented Lagrangian algorithm to solve the highly nonlinear optimization problem. The paper also introduces a detailed analysis and an application of the procedure on a boost-type zero-current switch (ZCS) single-switch three-phase rectifier introduced recently in the literature. The obtained results are compared with popular simulation packages (i. e. PSPICE and SIMCAD) to support the validity of the proposed concept.

This paper describes the SEAS which is a 2-dimensional graphic editor for schematic circuit and IC mask layout. This system runs on general purpose computer and Tektronix 4110 series graphic terminal. With this system, user can edit schematic circuits and/or IC mask layout with 2 level hierarchy. This system supports more than 20 kinds of built-in symbol, user definable internal symbols, 60 macros, 16 function keys, 4 level on-screen menu operation and edit-in-place of cell in main drawing. And it provides editing functions such as reflection, rotation, move and copy of one or a group of elements, and modification of polygona geometry etc. To improve the excution speed, we used local memory of graphic terminal. For the portability of the program, the system is written in FORTRAN 77 programming language.

In case of VLSI design, the shuffle-exchange graph is useful for optimal layout. HOEY and LEISERSON proposed the method of drawing a N-nodes shuffle-exchange graph on O(N2/log N) layout area by using the complex plane digram. [2] In this paper, a new algorithm for drawing the shuffle-exchange graph is proposed. This algorithm is not by using the complex plane diabram, but the table of e decimal represented nodes of shuffle-edge relations. And the structural properties for optimal layout of the graph are summarized and verified. By using this more simplified algorithm, a FORTRAN program which can be treated faster is written. Aimed near optimal shuffle-exchange graphs are printed out by giving inputs` the number of nodes.

In the design of PLA's of VLSI, as the number of subsets of functions from which common preme implicants must be determined increases, the execution time increases by a factor of O(2\ulcorner. When the number of functions N is a large number, this poses a serious problem in minumization of multiple-output logic functions. In this paper a new algorithm that minimizes multiple-output logic functions is proposed. The algorithm requires less number of Fortran statements, less execution time, and less memory area than existing methods. The bases of this algorithm are explained and verified, and the sequential operation for preparation of the program is discussed.

The shuffle-exchange graph is known as a structure to perform the parallel algorithms like Discrete Fourier Transform(DFT), matrix multiplication and sorting. In this paper, the layout for the shuffle-exchange graph is described and this layout places emphasis on the placement of nodes that has the capability to have as small area as possible, have as a small number of crossings as possible, and have as short wires as possible. The algorithm corrdsponding these conditions is proposed and each evaluation factor and the placement of the N-node shuffle-exchange graph is performed with FORTRAN and BASIC program, and these results are calcualted.

Recently, the flux community in Korea established a new regional flux network, so-called KoFlux, which will provide an infrastructure for collecting, synthesizing, and analysing long-term measurements of energy and mass exchange between the atmosphere and the various vegetated surfaces. KoFlux requires the collection of long time series of raw data, and a large amount of data are expected to accumulate due to continuous flux observations at each KoFlux sites. Therefore, we need a systematic and efficient tool to manage these raw data. As a part of this effort, a computer program far processing raw data measured from micrometeorological field experiments was developed for the flux community in Korea. In this paper, we introduce this program for processing raw data to estimate fluxes and other turbulent statistics and explain the micrometeolological processes coded in this data-processing program. Also, we show some examples on how to run the program and handle the outputs for the unique purpose of research interest.

Studying the structural behavior of prestressed segmented girders is quite important due to the large use this type of solution in viaducts and bridges. Thus, this work presents a nonlinear three-dimensional structural analysis of an externally prestressed segmented concrete girder through the Finite Element Method (FEM), using a customized ANSYS platform, version 14.5. Aiming the minimization of the computational effort by using the lowest number of finite elements, a new viscoelastoplastic material model has been implemented for the structural concrete with the UPF customization tool of ANSYS, adding new subroutines, written in FORTRAN programming language, to the main program. This model takes into consideration the cracking of concrete in its formulation, being based on fib Model Code 2010, which uses Ottosen rupture surface as the rupture criterion. By implementing this new material model, it was possible to use the three-dimensional 20-node quadratic element SOLID186 to model the concrete. Upon validation of the model, an externally prestressed segmented box concrete girder that was originally lab tested by Aparicio et al. (2002) has been computationally simulated. In the discretization of the structure, in addition to element SOLID186 for the concrete, unidimensional element LINK180 has been used to model the prestressing tendons, as well as contact elements CONTA174 and TARGE170 to simulate the dry joints along the segmented girder. Stresses in the concrete and in the prestressing tendons are assessed, as well as joint openings and load versus deflection diagrams. A comparison between numerical and experimental data is also presented, showing a good agreement.
