Korea has pursued an aggressive policy of inviting more foreign-born students to its universities since the late 1990s in the wake of the globalization of education markets and its changing demographic structure. While increasingly more students from Asia come to Korea for study, more than half of the graduates return home upon graduation. Given the issues of brain drain, brain circulation, and knowledge transfer that are raised by such a high return rate, this paper examines the factors that frame the foreign students' decision on their post-graduation careers. By analyzing survey data, we report that Asian students majoring in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) are more likely to return than non-STEM majors. This suggests that Korea's aggressive policies of inviting foreign-born students have contributed to brain circulation and knowledge transfer between Korea and the other Asian countries. We also find that scholarships from Korean sources and positive attitudes toward Korean culture and life increase their inclination to stay in the country upon graduation. These findings, however, raise more questions than answers, since it becomes obvious that their post-graduation decisions are highly affected by what Korea as a society provides.

2000년대 이후 국내 외국인 유학생은 크게 증가하였다. 2010년대 후반 정부의 고등교육 국제화 전략으로 인해 2019년 현재 외국인 유학생 수는 14만 명이 되었으며, 2023년에는 20만 명에 이를 전망이다. 우리 사회의 국제화와 인구절벽의 사회적 문제 앞에 외국인 유학생의 수가 증가하고 있는 것은 상당히 고무적인 일이며, 앞으로 이들의 행복한 유학생활은 상당히 중요한 문제가 되었다. 최근 한국에서 유학하는 베트남 유학생 수가 증가하고 있는데, 이들의 행복한 유학생활에 대해 관심을 가질 필요가 있다. 이에 이 연구에서는 베트남 유학생들의 행복한 유학생활을 위한 방안을 제안하고자 하였다. 한국 사회에 유입되고 있는 외국인 유학생들도 우리 사회의 한 구성원으로 인식하고 행복한 유학생활을 할 수 있도록 생활·경제, 복지, 교육 등의 측면에서 함께 노력해 가야 할 것이다.

The purpose of this research is to analyze the preference of Korean food and the satisfaction level with the service of Korean restaurants for Japanese and Chinese students in Korea. Self administered questionnaires were collected from 204 Japanese and Chinese students in Korea. The data were statistically analysed using t-tests, one-way ANOVA and their correlation. The most preferred Korean foods were Bulgogi, Kimgui, Haemul-pajun, Kalbi-tang, Bibimbap, Youkgaejang, Ssalbap, and Aehobarkjeon, in that order. Female students liked Korean food more than male students (p＜0.05), and Japanese students more than Chinese students (p＜0.001). of foreign students, 44.3％ replied that they had teamed about Korean food at school, and 34.48％ tried to cook Korean food at home. The foreign students answered that hygiene and cleanness were the most important factors to be improved for Korean restaurant. Other factors to be improved are the variety of menus, price level, taste, service, atmospheres, and quantity, in that order. Korean restaurants should strive to provide a high level of service and improved quality of Korean food, not only to foreign students, but also to other foreigners and tourists to present good image of Korea.

The purpose of this study was comparative of domestic foreign university students' perceived service quality factors for Internet shopping mall. And investigate of affect of internet shopping customer satisfaction on perceived service quality. This survey was carried out with real customers. Data were obtained from 189 internet shopping mall customer(Domestic and Foreign university students) who have bought any products. To Find difference among service quality variables, exploratory factor analysis, ANOVA and multiple regression was carried out with collected data. Result shows that perceived service quality is significantly related to customers satisfaction. And there were significantly differences in perceived service quality between domestic university students and foreign(chinese and mongolian) abroad university students. Therefore, it is necessary to reconsider marketing strategy for internet shopping business.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze the experiences of foreign students in childcare practicum, with a specific focus on identifying the difficulties they encountered and the values they derived from their practicum experiences. The aim was to gain insights that can contribute to improving practicum support for these students. Methods: A total of 6 foreign students were selected as participants for this study using snowball sampling. The data collection period spanned from May 2021 to March 2023, during which semi-structured interviews were conducted and qualitatively analyzed. Results: Foreign students faced challenges in securing practicum placements prior to the start of their program. Communication difficulties necessitated the use of interpreters to interact with children. Additionally, documenting information in a language other than their mother tongue posed a challenge. Consequently, there was a need for tailored training support to address the specific needs of foreign students in childcare practicum. Despite these challenges, the students reported rewarding and valuable experiences during their practicum. These experiences included discovering the teaching identity in Korea, learning about desirable practices in the field, recognizing and addressing personal shortcomings, and developing a sense of vocation for the advancement of infant education in their home countries. Conclusion/Implications: If we actively listen to and provide appropriate support for the specific needs of foreign students in their childcare practicum, they have the potential to become excellent childcare teachers who can foster a harmonious and inclusive environment within our multicultural society.

이 연구는 한국 유학생의 grit 수준과 잠재적 중도탈락 및 대학생활적응과의 관계를 규명하고자 하였다. 연구의 대상은 335명의 한국에 있는 유학생이었다. 첫째, grit는 잠재적 중도탈락과는 부적 상관관계를 보였고, 정서적응과 사회적응, 대학생활 만족 및 학업적응과는 정적 상관관계를 보였다. 둘째, grit는 중간 점수보다 높았고 잠재적 중도탈락은 매우 낮았다. 정서적응과 대학만족은 대학적응보다 높았으나 사회적응은 하위 영역 중 가장 낮았다. 셋째, grit 수준이 높고 중간인 군집이 낮은 군집보다 잠재적 중도탈락은 낮았으나, 대학생활적응의 전체 하위영역은 높았다. 끝으로 유학생의 대학생활 적응을 위한 제언을 하였다.

본 연구는 한국에 거주하는 외국인 유학생들의 건강행태와 한류문화에 대한 의식이 학업적응에 영향을 미치는 변인들을 파악하고 향후 외국인 유학생들이 한국문화에 잘 적응하고 건강하게 학업적응을 하기 위해 시도된 융합연구이다. 연구대상자는 G대학의 외국인 유학생을 대상으로 2018년 4월2일부터 4월30일까지 조사하였다. 수집된 자료를 SPSS 통계프로그램을 사용해 분석하였다. 외국인 유학생의 건강 행태와 한류문화 의식이 학업적응에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위해 다중회귀분석을 실시한 결과, 연령이 높을수록, 체류기간이 길수록 학업적응력이 감소하는 반면, 운동 횟수가 많을수록, 한류문화 의식이 높을수록 학업적응력이 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 향후 유학생들을 위한 지속적인 건강교육 및 운동 프로그램과 한류문화 프로그램을 제공으로 유학생들의 학업적응력을 키우기 위한 계획과 방안이 마련되어야 할 것이다.

This paper investigated the influence of foreign words, otherwise known as loan words, on global communication abilities of university students from two non English-speaking countries: Korea and Japan. To survey the understanding and usage of foreign words which are from English language and used frequently in daily conversation, questionnaires were administered to Korean and Japanese university students majoring in engineering who shared similar linguistic backgrounds. The results were analyzed from global communication viewpoint. Based on the results, methods for improving global communication skills in engineering education were proposed.

이 연구는 국내 이공계 대학에 진학한 유학생들의 전공기초 역량을 신장시키고 중도탈락을 예방하기 위한 수학교육 프로그램을 개발하는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구자는 유학생을 위한 수학교육 프로그램의 핵심인 보충 교재를 개발하여 5차시 분량의 수업에 실제로 적용하였다. 적용 대상은 중국인 유학생 5명으로, 남학생 4명과 여학생 1명이며, 유학생들은 공과대학과 자연과학대학에 소속되어 있다. 이 연구를 수행하기 위하여 연구자는 5차시 분량의 수업 동영상을 모두 촬영하여 그 내용을 전사하였으며, 전사된 내용은 NVivo 12를 활용하여 질적으로 분석되었다. 분석 결과, 수학교육 프로그램에 참여하기 전, 유학생들은 무리함수와 지수함수의 그래프를 전혀 그리지 못하였고 극한의 개념도 전혀 이해하지 못하였다. 그러나 이 프로그램을 적용한 결과, 모든 유학생들이 무리함수와 지수함수의 그래프 개형을 그릴 수 있었으며, 극한값도 정확하게 계산하였다. 이공계 유학생을 위한 수학교육 프로그램 개발 시, 그들의 수준에 맞는 교재 개발이 매우 중요하다. 교재 개발 시에는 대학 수학에 학습하는데 핵심이 되는 내용을 선정·조직하고 유학생들의 한국어 수준을 고려하여 수학적 개념이나 예제를 제시할 필요가 있다. 또한 한국에서 통용되는 수학 용어를 자국어나 영어로 함께 제시하려는 노력도 필요할 것이다.

Despite the rapid increase in the number of foreign students, there has been a lack of research to help them adapt to Korean food culture and develop healthy eating habits. This study examined the dietary habits and problems of foreign students studying in universities of Korea. Although 97.0% of the 604 people surveyed live in dormitories, the visiting rate of the school cafeteria was low. In addition, only 30.2% of them ate three meals a day, and the frequency of eating midnight snack and convenience store foods was high. International students were positive about experiencing new Korean food, but food satisfaction in Korea was not high because of the difficulties in food selection due to religious problems and maladjustment to Korean sauces and seasonings. Information on Korean eating habits was obtained mainly from other foreign students from the same country (49.5%) and the Internet (33.8%), and there was very little interaction with Korean students at meals. The ratio of subjects who ate halal foods was 33.3%, and they were shown to have difficulty obtaining halal foods in Korea. Therefore, based on the results of this study, a support program should be developed in order to improve the dietary habits of international students.
