The risk of foreign body by small button-disc battery in children has been increasing because the batteries are widely used in electronic device and plaything and easily contact with children. Foreign body of mercury type button-disc battery, when lodged in the esophagus, leak a caustic solution which causes a rapid necrosis of esophageal mucosa. So it should be removed immediately when the radiologic diagnosis is made. We experienced a case of esophageal foreign body by mercuric disc battery in a 14-month-old male. This case will be discussed with literature review.

Esophageal foreign body are not uncommon problems in the otolaryngologic field. Esophageal foreign body may cause severe complications such as esophageal ulceration, esophageal perforation, periesophagitis, tracheo-esophageal fistula, mediastinitis, pneumothorax pyothorax according to the kinds, shape, size, duration of lodgement of foreign body. The majority of esophageal foreign U which lodge in the esophagus can be removed endoscopically, but the following type of foreign body may require removal by external route. 1. an impacted foreign body 2. a foreign body producing esophagitis after unsuccessful attempts at removal through the esopahgoscope 3. a periesophageal abscess with a foreign body lodging in the abscess itself. Recently, we experienced a case of esophageal foreign body (fish bone) which penetrate the cervical esophageal wall and formed retropharyngeal abscess in 54-year old female. The foreign body are successfully removed and abscess was drained by external route through the lat neck.

이물에 의한 식도천공은 매우 희유하며 대부분은 날카로운 금속성이물과 골편에 의하며 드물게는 이물의 장기잔류에 의하여 초래할 수 있다. 저자등은 1976년 1월부터 1977년 12월까지 충남대학교 의료대학 부속병원 이비인후과에 내원한 식도이물 48례중 식도천공을 일으킨 5례 즉 구부러진 철사 2례, 안전핀 l례, 낚시바늘 1례, 골편 1례를 경험하였기에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다.

Most of bronchial foreign bodies can be removed by ventilation bronchoscopy through transoral route but sometimes, ventilation bronchoscopy through tracheostomy is helpful procedure. Recently, we have experienced a case of bronchial foreign body which could be easily removed by nasal endoscopy and Blakesley forcep instead of bronchoscopy. So we report this case with a review of literatures.

Foreign holies in the upper aerodigestive tract are an important cause of morbity and mortality in older adults and children under 3 years of age. Fish and chicken bones are the usual foreign bodies lodged in the hypopharynx, and most of them lodge In the lower pole of a tonsil, at the base of the tongue, at the lateral wall of the pharynx, or in a vallecula. Recently, the authors experienced a case of aspiration pneumonia caused by chronic local inflammatory reaction of the posterior wall of the hypopharynx originated from a special foreign body.

Esophageal foreign bodies are common problems in the part of otolaryngology department, and may cause severe complications such as esophageal ulceration, esophageal perforation, periesophagitis, tracheoesophageal fisula, pneumothorax and pyothorax. Therefore, early diagnosis and intervention is needed to reduce morbidity and motality. But, calcification of the laryngeal cartilages may masquerade as foreign body in some patients with a history of foreign body ingestion. Recently, We experienced a case of calcification of thyroid cartilage which was misunderstood as an esophageal foreign body and report this case with a review of literatures.

This case report describes a patient who had a foreign body in transverse sinus. A 35-year-old Korean-Chinese man visited the emergency room with lacerated wound in left eyelid and a foreign body which was stumbled upon in the skull. On examination, there was right side hemianopsia in his left eye, He did not complain any headache or show any abnormal neurological signs, but there was a foreign body at left transverse sinus in computed tomography which was taken at another hospital. There was no intracranial abnormality except the foreign body in computed tomography. Because of the financial problem, additional evaluations were not possible. We herein report a strange case in which the pathway of a foreign body to locate in transverse sinus was ambiguous, and suggest that the foreign body located in transverse sinus might have been the penetrated along the anterior fontanelle and passed through the superior sagittal sinus.

Foreign bodies in the oral cavity and pharyngolarynx are frequently observed accidental cases in the otolaryngological fields. Most foreign bodies can be recognized and removable with the manipulation of endoscopes and various instruments. However, foreign bodies that penetrate the oral cavity and oropharynx to appear as a tongue mass are rare. Therefore, such cases easily can be misconceived as tongue tumor at first, so it must involve a more thorough search utilizing such aids as computed tomography. Depending on their location and size, their removal may involve surgical intervention. The authors experienced such a rare case of an elderly male patient, presenting as tongue mass. We hereby report this case along with the relevant literature.

Children tend to ingest foreign bodies. The majority present in children between the ages of 6 months and 3 years. We experienced 2 cases of unusual gastrointestinal complications caused by ingested foreign bodies. First case was a 10-month-old male with intestinal perforation due to two pieces of ingested magnetic heads. Second case was a 7-month-old girl with esophageal stricture due to an ingested particle of plastic toy.

The lodgement of foreign material in the larynx is potentially life thereatening as complete obstruction of this region does not leave the individual with a viable airway. In the literature review, laryngeal foreign bodies accounted for about $3\%$ of the whole foreign bodies in the air passage. This report describes a rare case of laryngeal obstruction by subglottic foreign body(tooth) occurred during tooth extraction, in which repeated Heimlich maneuver failed to expel the foreign body and aggravated airway obstruction.
