Background: The number of outpatients visiting large university teaching hospitals has increased drastically with the introduction of a nationwide health care insurance in 1989 and the improvement of the socio-economic status of the population. This resulted in long waiting times for services, particularly prescribed drugs, which have been patients' chief complaints. Hospitals have tried to solve the problem with limited success because their approach lacked comprehensive research. The objective of this study is to investigate associations between waiting times and variables defining a total work system. Methods: Data for the outpatient pharmacy department in a tertiary care university teaching hospital located in Seoul was analyzed to achieve the study objective. Associations of pharmacy system variables -- work load, work force, pharmacist work schedule, machine problems, and inventory control -- with mean and 99th percentile of waiting times were examined by the hierarchical stepwise regression method. Day was a unit of the analyses. Results: The regression models explained 65.8% of variance in the mean waiting time and 61.34% in the 99th percentile of waiting times. The break-down of the printer for drug envelops, Automatic Tablet Counters (ATCs), and main computer system lasted longer than 30 minutes increased the mean for 7.7 minutes, 4.5 minutes, and 7.0 minutes, respectively, and the 99th percentile for 14.8 minutes, 9.0 minutes, and 15.7 minutes, respectively. Concerning the work force, study results showed that there were significant differences in the productivity of pharmacists with work experience more than three years, one to three years, and less than one year, and showed that peak time aid work by pharmacists at job assignments other than the outpatient pharmacy, part-time pharmacists, and the installation of ATCs were effective in reducing waiting times, Finally, study findings indicated that the operational policy of work assignment and rotation schedule, supply and inventory of drugs at work tables, and readiness for undisrupted work during the work hours could have a significant effect on waiting times. Conclusion: The study results indicated that efforts to reduce waiting times for prescribed drugs should be geared toward every components of the pharmacy work system ranging from work schedule of pharmacists and supply of dugs at work tables. These findings should provide hospital managers with right directions in battling the problem.

CFT column has a lot of structural advantages due to the composite behavior between in-filled concrete and steel tube. This paper deals with the development of an effective numerical model which can consider the bond-slip behavior between both components of concrete matrix and steel tube without taking double nodes. Since the applied axial load to in-filled concrete matrix is delivered to steel tube by the confinement effect and the friction, the governing equation related to the slip behavior can be constructed on the basis of the force equilibrium and the compatability conditions. In advance, the force and displacement relations between adjacent two nodes make it possible to express the slip behavior with the concrete nodes only. This model results in significant savings in the numerical modeling of CFT columns to take into account the effect of bond-slip. Finally, correlation studies between numerical results and experimental data are conducted to verifying the efficiency of the introduced numerical model.
Purpose: The surfaces and compositions of rigid gas permeable (RGP) contact lenses were analyzed with the consistent methods, and the basic informations for the composition design of lens materials were suggested. Methods: The bulk structures were analyzed by using Fourier infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), the compositions of surface components were observed by using x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), the surface morphology and roughness were observed using atomic force microscopy (AFM), and the wettabilities were estimated by the surface wetting angles. The relations and trends of those results were analyzed. Results: The high oxygen permeability RGP lenses showed the trend that the fluorine decreases and the silicon increases. As the silicon and fluorine contents increased, the carbon and oxygen contents of RGP lens materials decreased at a constant ratio. The decreasing ratio of the carbon contents was three times larger than the decreasing ratio of oxygen contents. The composition of the surface treated lens was far from these tendency line. When the silicon contents increased, the rough surface was formed with the cohered particles. When the fluorine contents increased, the rough surface was formed with the deep flaws. The surface roughness increased and then wettabilities decreased as the silicon and fluorine contents increased. For the surface roughness changes, the increasing ratio of the silicon contents was two times larger than the increasing ratio of fluorine contents. The surface of RGP lens materials appeared the hydrophobic character of which the wettabilities decreased when the roughnesses increased. Conclusions: The surfaces and compositions of RGP contact lenses were measured by the same methods. Those results and relationships were compared and analysed. It is considered that these research results will be applied with the basic data for the composition design of lens materials.

This study was carried out to investigate the influence of feeding eosungcho (Houttuynia cordata Thunb) powder on the meat quality of porks at chilled storage. Experimental groups were divided into control group (0%, C), 5% (T1) and 10% (T2) eosungcho powder feeding group, and then administered for 12 weeks. The results of sensory evaluation for softening value and scorched smell showed the highest preference in T1 group. Overall acceptability was also the highest in T1 group than the others. Physicochemical components were analyzed for pork loins that were stored at $4^{\circ}C$ for 23 days after vacuum packing. The moisture contents of pork loins were higher in T1 group than the others. Crude lipid contents were lower in T1 and T2 groups than the control group. The pH values were not significantly different in experimental groups during storage days. The Hunt L and a values increased significantly according to storage days. The Hunt b value was increased for the initial storage days but it did not change after 9 storage days. The Warmer-Bratzler share force of all experimental groups were greatly decreased between 2 and 9 storage days and then little exchanged afterwards.
"Residual stress" can be developed during polymerization of the dental composite and it can be remained after this process was completed. The total amount of the force which applied to the composite restoration can be calculated by the sum of external and internal force. For the complete understanding of the restoration failure behavior. these two factors should be considered. In this experiment. I compared the residual stress of the recently developed nanofilled dental composite by ring slitting methods. The composites used in this study can be categorized in two groups. one is microhybrid type-Z250, as control group, and nanofilled type-Grandio, Filtek Supreme. Ceram-X, as experimental ones. Composite ring was made and marked two reference points on the surface. Then measure the change of the distance between these two points before and after ring slitting. From the distance change, average circumferential residual stress $({\sigma}{\theta})$ was calculated. In 10 minutes and 1 hour measurement groups, Filtek Supreme showed higher residual stress than Z250 and Ceram-X. In 24 hour group, Filtek showed higher stress than the other groups. Following the result of this experiment, nanofilled composite showed similar or higher residual stress than Z250, and when comparing the Z250 and Filtek Supreme, which have quite similar matrix components. Filtek Supreme groups showed higher residual stress.

The objective of this study is to evaluate the dynamic properties of DUS (damping-up system) composed of the materials with excellent damping capacity, and to compare with those of the conventional hangar bolt. The main parameters are the type and hardness (𝜂H), of rubber and the prestress force (value converted from the compression strain (𝜂R) in the stress-strain relationship of rubber). The dynamic properties were examined from the natural frequency (𝜔n), maximum response acceleration (Am), amplification coefficient (𝛼p), maximum relative displacement (𝚫m), and damping ratio (𝜉D). The test results showed that the Am, 𝛼p, and 𝚫m values of DUS were 46.3%, 46.6% and 62.9% lower, respectively, and the 𝜉D value was 3.89 times higher, when compared to those of the conventional hangar bolt. In particular, the 𝛼p value was 1.3 for DUS, and 2.45 for the conventional hanger bolt, which were similar to those of rigid and flexible components specified in KDS 41 17 00, respectively. Consequently, in the optimal details of DUS, the 𝜂H values of 50 and 45 were required for the NR (natural rubber) and EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer), and the 𝜂R value of 5% was also recommended.
In order to analyze the dynamic motions of fish cage systems made of a frame and a netting under the conditions of waves and current, the hydraulic model experiment at towing tank and the numerical computation using boundary integral element method based on linear potential theory were carried out on a square and a circular type of fish cage, The computed and measured results for the dynamic motions of model fish cage systems showed that the heave and pitch motions were almost unaffected by the inclusion of nets, while the surge motions were very reduced by drag force acting on them. In addition, irregular wave-induced motions of fish cages included non-negligible 2nd order harmonic components at high frequency nearly twice the wave frequency. The reason why these motions were considered was due to resonance or structural components of frames being overflown and out of water during a wave cycle. It was found that circular type was more desirable structure in the open sea than square one only in the respect of dynamic motions due to waves and current. Further verifications were needed considering hydrodynamic forces, fatigue life, and structure analysis based on long term stochastic waves including frequency and time domain for the purpose of analyzing and designing fish cage systems.
Recently, application of composite materials such as fiber reinforced concretes(FRCs) and fiber reinforced plastics(FRPs) in conjunction with conventional structural components has become one of the main research areas. A proper use of advanced composite materials requires understanding their resistance mechanism and failure mode when they are applied to structures or their components. Particular considerations are given in this research to develop an analytical model which can predict the nonlinear flexural responses of bonded and unbonded prestressed concrete beams possibly having layers of different cementitious composite matrices in a section and/or FRP tendons. The block concept is used, which can be regarded as an intermediate modeling method between the couple method with one block and the layered method with multiply sliced layers in a section. In order to find a particular deflection point of a beam under load, solutions to the 2N-variables are found numerically by using approximate N-force equilibrium equations and N-moment equilibirum equations. The model is shown to successfully predict the flexual behavior of variously reinforced bonded and unbonded prestressed concrete beams. The model is also successful in simulating a gradually increasing load after sudden drop inload resistance due to fracture of one or more FRP tendons. This feature is useful in tracing the overall load-deflection response of a beam prestressed with brittle FRP tendons.
Statement of problem : Use of fiber composite technology as well as development of nonmetal implant prosthesis solved many problems due to metal alloy substructure such as corrosion. toxicity, difficult casting, expensiveness and esthetic limit. After clinical and laboratory test, we could find out that fiber-reinforced composite prostheses have good mechanical properties and FRC can make metal-free implant prostheses successful. Purpose : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the flexural strength of implant fixed prosthesis using fiber reinforced composite. Material and methods : 2-implant fixture were placed in second premolar and second molar area in edentulous mandibular model, and their abutments were placed, and bridge prostheses using gold, PFG, Tescera, and Targis Vectris were fabricated. Tescera was made in 5 different designs with different supplements. Group I was composed by 3 bars with diameter 1.0mm and 5 meshes, 2 bars and 5 meshes for Group II, 1 bar and 5 meshes for Group III, and only 5 meshes were used for Group IV. And Group V is composed by only 3 bars. Resin (Tescera) facing was made to buccal part of pontic of gold bridge. All of gold and PFG bridges were made on one model, 5 Targis Vectris bridges were also made on one model, and 25 Tescera bridges were. made on 3 models. Each bridge was attached to the test model by temporary cement and shallow depression was formed near central fossa of the bridge pontic to let 5 mm metal ball not move. Flexual strength was marked in graph by INSTRON. Results : The results of the study are as follows. The initial crack strength was the highest on PFG. and in order of gold bridge Tescera I, Tescera II, Targis vectris, Tescera IV, Tescera III, and Tescera V. The maximum strength was the highest on gold bridge, and in order of PFG, Tescera I, Tescera IV Tescera II, Targis vectris, Tescera III, and Tescera V. Conculsions : The following conclusions were drawn from the results of this study. 1. Flextural strength of implant prosthesis using fiber reinforced composite was higher than average posterior occlusal force. 2. In initial crack strength, Tescera I was stronger than Tescera V, and weaker than PFG. 3. Kinds and number of auxillary components had an effect on maximum strength, and maximum strength was increased as number of auxillary components increased. 4 Maximum strength of Tescera I was higher than Targis vectris, and lower than PFG.

The plasma surface modification of natural rubber vulcanizate was carried out using chlorodifluoromethane in a radio-frequency (13.56 MHz) electrodeless bell type plasma reactor. The modification was qualitatively assessed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The frictional force of the plasma-treated surface was found to decrease with the time of plasma treatment. An increase in the surface polarity, as evidenced by the decrease in contact angle of a sessile drop of water and ethylene glycol on the natural rubber vulcanizate surface, was noted with the plasma modification. In the case of similar plasma treatment of glass surface, only a reduction in the polarity was observed. The use of geometric and harmonic mean methods was found to be useful to evaluate the London dispersive and specific components of surface free energy. Irrespective of the method used for evaluation, an increasing trend in the surface free energy was noted with increasing plasma treatment time. However, the harmonic mean method yielded comparatively higher values of surface free energy than the geometric mean method. The plasma surface modification was found to vary the frictional coefficient by influencing the interfacial, hysteresis and viscous components of friction in opposing dual manners.
