Transition metal oxide materials have attracted widespread attention as Li-ion battery electrode materials owing to their high theoretical capacity and good Li storage capability, in addition to various nanostructured materials. Here, we fabricated a CoO Li-ion battery in which Co nanoparticles (NPs) are deposited into a current collector through electrophoretic deposition (EPD) without binding and conductive agents, enabling us to focus on the intrinsic electrochemical properties of CoO during the conversion reaction. Through optimized Co NP synthesis and electrophoretic deposition (EPD), CoO Li-ion battery with 630 mAh/g was fabricated with high cycle stability, which can potentially be used as a test platform for a fundamental understanding of conversion reaction.

Recent scandals of milk additives in several developing countries provoked controversy about quality issue of dairy products, grapping academic attention to the dairy supply chain. In this paper, we first focus on moral hazard problem of self-interested entities about the quality across the dairy supply chain, due to unobservable and unverifiable quality management efforts of all entities - including dairy producers, stations, and a final producer - and high inspection cost for the quality. Based on the identified moral hazard problem, we understand why the adoption of IoT-based tracking systems about quality produced from each entity is a must, different from RFID-based tracking systems.

This paper discusses Dortmund's municipal economic development policy, in particular during the period 2000-2010 in the context of the "Dortmund-project", a strategic concept designed at the end of the last millennium. Its core elements and key projects are presented in the following. We draw much attention to the interplay of cluster policy and urban development. In an earlier paper, Becker and Hermann (2013) had discussed some of other important milestones reached in the context of structural change in Dortmund, with a particular focus on the development of the TechnologieZentrum (=Technology Center) and the TechnologiePark (=Technology Park) Dortmund from its beginning in 1984. The "dortmund-project" was not addressed in detail. This present article and their paper are complementing one another.

This study examines the prati fashion style. prati fashion refers to a practical fashion, the most sought-after trend and newest fashion concept. This trend emerged as a response to the trio of minimalism, the recent economic downturn and the modern life style, and has led to powerful fashion lines and items. Therefore, this study is to understand and analyze the prati fashion style, with its focus on the 2010 modern fashion collection that embodied functional, economic, and minimal styles. First, the functional style realized by new materials provides comfort and allows multi-style changes. Second, the minimal style adds detailed changes to minimal silhouettes. Finally the economic style means easy to wear and easy to match items at affordable prices. The analyses stated above found that the prati fashion brought about a new paradigm to society, and influenced social, cultural and economic aspects of our daily life. It also helped find solutions to economic problems of this era. Drawing global attention, the prati fashion has functional, design and economic values, and thereby influences the shift of market paradigm.

As optical fiber communication grows, the fiber alignment become the focus of industrial attention. This greatly influence the overall production rates for the opto-electric products. We proposed multi-axis nano positioning stage for optical fiber alignment. This device has 3 DOF translation and sub nanometer resolution. This nano stage consist of 3 PZT-driven flexure stages which are stacked parallel. The displacement of it is measured with capacitance gauge and is controlled by computer-embedded main controller. The design process of flexure stage using FEM is proposed and the performance evaluation of this system is verified with experiments.

Privacy preserving microdata publication has received wide attention. In this paper, we investigate the randomization approach and focus on attribute disclosure under linking attacks. We give efficient solutions to determine optimal distortion parameters, such that we can maximize utility preservation while still satisfying privacy requirements. We compare our randomization approach with l-diversity and anatomy in terms of utility preservation (under the same privacy requirements) from three aspects (reconstructed distributions, accuracy of answering queries, and preservation of correlations). Our empirical results show that randomization incurs significantly smaller utility loss.

The research for the improvement of the aptitude test system in the field of railroad is progressing actively in advanced countries. Our government is also promoting some systematic supplementation for railroad safety on the basis of the Railroad Safety Act. In this paper, we focus our attention on an improvement of the present aptitude test system which will lead to the improvement of the safety supervision of Korean railroad. For this purpose, we perform a comparative analysis of domestic and foreign aptitude test systems for train drivers. We provide useful information that is needed to derive desirable aptitude test systems.

The topic of anomaly detection is one of the emerging research themes in computer vision, computer interaction, video analysis and monitoring. Observers focus attention on behaviors that vary in the magnitude or direction of the motion and behave differently in rules of motion with other objects. In this paper, we use this information and propose a system that detects abnormal behavior by using simple features extracted by optical flow. Our system can be applied in real life. Experimental results show high performance in detecting abnormal behavior in various videos.

This paper is an attempt to give an account of presupposition inheritance (henceforth PI) in conditionals from a functional-discourse perspective. The focus of study is on how to evaluate the embedded presupposition (EP) nested in the hypothetical world. I propose the view that if the EP satisfies the condition on the presupposition satisfaction, it becomes background information in the relevant world, arguing against the theories which employ simple cancellation or disappearance of those EPs. The discourse processing among discourse participants is to be considered in the light of functional significance for the explication of the contrastive mechanism of presupposition and assertion. I advance a revised model of PI in conditionals and analyze several problematic cases of conditionals, with a particular attention to their DRSs.

In recent years, it is a worldwide trend that many power utilities focus their attention to employ up-to-date communication technology to the automation of their power plants and distribution systems. Automation Systems in Korea was installed using twisted pair cable(TPC), power line carrier(PLC), coaxial cable(CA), wireless network(wireless data, TRS and PCS). Among the communication media only Satellite Communication guarantees the reliable communication in case of emergency such as a flood, a heavy snow and an earthquake. It can integrate two-way satellite systems to existent nationwide SCADA controlling points of electric power transmission & distribution system that enables real time remote monitoring and controlling automatically. This paper presents some of design efforts for the satellite communication network as the media of Automation Systems.
