The effort attempts to investigate the influence of various non-oriented electrical steel sheets on the core loss of a switched reluctance motor (SRM). The core loss of the motor inherits a strong correlation with flux density and permeability of the material. The study involves the use of laminated 2.7 % high silicon steel suitable for the motor in view of its higher flux density and lower core loss. The accurate prediction of core loss leaves way to suggest measures for improving the performance of the SRM. The dynamic simulation measurements of a 1.5 kW, three-phase 12/8 SRM involve the finite element method (FEM) and use the data obtained experimentally from Epstein frame. The closeness of the simulated and hardware results obtained with laminations of M400-50A, DI MAX-M19 and DI MAX-M15 both for the stator and rotor, espouse a greater significance to the findings in terms of the core loss density and forge new dimensions for its use in the drive industry.
This paper is a study for accurate iron loss calculation of a cylindrical linear machine for free piston engine. This study presents that it is possible to accurately predict power loss in ferromagnetic laminations under magnetic flux by specially considering the dependence of hysteresis, classical, and excess loss components on the magnetic induction derivative. Significant iron loss in the armature core will not only compromise the machine efficiency, but may also result in excessive heating, which could lead to irreversible deterioration in the machine performance. Thus, correct prediction of power losses under a distorted flux waveform is therefore an important prerequisite to machine design, particularly when dealing with large apparatus where stringent efficiency standards are required. Finally, it will be discussed about the iron loss in various materials of cylindrical linear electric machine by geometric and electrical parameters. It will give elaborate information about the perfect design and design rules of cylindrical linear machine and in parallel tools for the calculation, simulation and design will be available.

Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM) produces two kind of torque that Magnetic and Reluctance torque. The permanent magnet linkage flux $\Psi_a$ and d-axis and q-axis inductances have an important influence on the torque characteristic of IPMSM. Thus their accurate prediction is essential for predicting performance aspect such as the torque and flux-weakening capabilities. In this paper, $L_d,\;L_q$ is calculated by LC resonance method with FEM. The results are validated by comparison the $L_d,\;L_q$ calculated by another method.

The results of ab initio(MP2/6-31G) molecular orbital calculations of the dipole moment derivatives and gas phase IR intensities in chloromethanes are reported. The theoretical polar tensors are analyzed into the net charge, charge-flux, and overlap contributions. The charge-flux contribution was found to be dominant in the Cl atom polar tensor, while the net charge effect was the most prominent contribution for the H atom polar tensor. The Cl atom polar tensor appeared, in a good approximation, to be transferable among various chloro molecules. On the other hand, for the prediction of IR spectra of complex hydrocarbons containing chlorine atoms, some empirical adjustment of the H-atom polar tensor seemed to be made depending on the number of Cl atoms bound to the certain carbon atom.
It is important for an ICRF full wave code to simulate the SOL (Scrape Off Layer) plasma as well as the core inside of the LCFS (Last Closed Flux Surface) for the precise prediction of the coupling between the antenna and the core plasma in tokamaks. To this end, a two dimensional full wave code based on a Fourier spectral algorithm has been developed. The spectral algorithm and procedures are described and the simulation results for the minority heating in KSTAR are reported including electric field, power absorption and power flux.

The superheater and reheater tubes of a heavy-load fossil power plant boiler can be damaged by overheating, and therefore, the degree of overheating is assessed by measuring the oxide scale thickness inside the tube during outages. The tube temperature prediction from the oxide scale thickness measurement is necessarily accompanied by destructive tube sampling, and the result of tube temperature prediction cannot be expected to be accurate unless the selection of the overheated point is precise and the initial-operation tube temperature has been obtained. In contrast, if the tube temperature is to be predicted analytically, considerable effort (to carry out the analysis of combustion, radiation, convection heat transfer, and turbulence fluid dynamics of the gas outside the tube) is required. In addition, in the case of analytical tube temperature prediction, load changes, variations in the fuel composition, and operation mode changes are hardly considered, thus impeding the continuous monitoring of the tube temperature. This paper proposes a method for the short-term prediction of tube temperature; the method involves the use of boiler operation information and flow-network-analysis-based tube heat flux. This method can help in high-temperaturedamage monitoring when it is integrated with a practical tube-damage-assessment method such as the Larson-Miller Parameter.
The numerical model for prediction of longshore current with set-up/down effect on a plane beach is developed using the longshore component of the depth-integrated momentum balance equation. To predict the longshore current, the wave height model should first be formulated because the longshore current depends on the wave height directly. Two wave model, regular wave model and random wave model, are developed based on the energy flux balance equation. Also, the numerical model estimating the set-up inside the shoreline is developed using both the on-offshore momentum equation and the moving boundary technique. The numerical models are verified by the analytical solution, and compared with laboratory data. It is found from the comparison that developed models may be predicted accurately the longshore current with set-up/down effect on a plane beach.
This paper presents an analytical prediction and experimental verification of the electromagnetic performance of a parallel magnetized surface-mounted permanent magnet (SPM) motor having a fractional number of slots per pole combination. On the basis of a two-dimensional (2-D) polar coordinate system and a magnetic vector potential, analytical solutions for flux density produced by the permanent magnets (PMs) and stator windings are derived. Then, analytical solutions for back-electromotive force (emf) and electromagnetic torque are derived from these field solutions. The analytical results are thoroughly validated with 2-D nonlinear finite element (FE) analysis results. Finally, the experimental back-emf and electromagnetic torque measurements are presented to test the validity of the analysis.

An a priori test has been conducted for the dynamic mixed model which was generalized for the prediction of passive scalar field in a turbulent channel flow The results from a priori tests indicated that dynamic mixed model is capable of predicting both subgrid-scale heat flux and dissipation rather accurately. The success is attributed to the explicitly calculated resolved term incorporated into the model. The actual test of the model in a LES a posteriori showed that dynamic mixed model is superior to the widely used dynamic Smagorinsky model in the prediction of temperature statistics.
In the previous study, the countermeasure for welding deformation of bracket tilt is through up through experimental inspection for total process including welding process. For completeness of systematic examination of parts having sensitivity on welding deformation, the comparison and feedback between the result through simulation of welding process and experimental data is needed. In other words, it is necessary to control welding deformation that construct the prediction system for welding deformation through comparison and tuning with experimental data. In the present study, the application of FEA on welding process of bracket tilt with susceptibility to deformation is made and deformation behavior through change of welding sequence is focused on. It is used to improve the exactness of deformation analysis that three dimensional analysis for moving heat source, activated and deactivated bead element, and volume heat flux etc.
