For high efficiency and easy speed control of brushless DC (BLDC) motor, the demand of BLDC motor is increasing. Especially demand of interior permanent magnet (IPM) BLDC with high efficiency and high power in electric motion vehicle is increasing. However, IPM BLDC basically has a high cogging torque that results from the interaction of permanent magnet magnetomotive force (MMF) harmonics and air-gap permeance harmonics due to slotting. This cogging torque generates vibration and acoustic noises during the driving of motor. Thus reduction of the cogging torque has to be considered in IPM BLDC motor design by analytical methods. This paper proposes the cogging torque reduction method for IPM BLDC motor. For reduction of cogging torque of IPM BLDC motor, this paper describes new technique of the flux barriers design. The proposed method uses sinusoidal form of flux density to reduce the cogging torque. To make the sinusoidal air-gap flux density, flux barriers are applied in the rotor and flux barriers that installed in the rotor produce the sinusoidal form of flux density. Changing the number of flux barrier, the cogging torque is analyzed by finite element method. Also characteristics of designed model by the proposed method are analyzed by finite element method.

This paper assesses the prediction performance of explicit algebraic stress and heat-flux models for reduction of heat transfer coefficient in a strongly-heated vertical tube. Two explicit algebraic stress models and four explicit algebraic heat-flux models are selected for assessment. Eight combinations of explicit algebraic stress and heat-flux models are used in predicting the turbulent gas flows with intense heating, which yields the significant property-variation. The results showed that the two combinations of GS-AKN and WJ-mAKN predicted the Nusselt number and the axial wall temperature variations well and that the predictions of Nusselt number with WJ-combinations spread in a wider range than those with Gs-combinations. WJ is the explicit algebraic stress model of Wallin and Johansson and GS is the model of Gatski and Speziale and that AKN is the explicit heat-flux model of Abe, Kondoh and Nagano and mAKN is the modified AKN.

This paper is to present a new method of cogging torque reduction for axial flux PM machines of multiple rotor surface mounted magnets. In order to start softly and to run a power generator even the case of weak wind power, reduction of cogging torque is one of the most important issues for a small wind turbine, Cogging torque is an inherent characteristic of PM machines and is caused by the geometry shape of the machine. Several methods have been already applied for reducing the cogging torque of conventional radial flux PM machines. Even though some of these techniques can be also applied to axial flux machines, manufacturing cost is especially higher due to the unique construction of the axial flux machine stator. Consequently, a simpler and low cost method is proposed to apply on axial flux PM machines. This new method is actually applied to a generator of 1.0kW, 16-poles axial flux surface magnet disc type machine with double-rotor-single-stator for small wind turbine. Design optimization of the adjacent magnet pole-arc which results in minimum cogging torque as well as assessment of the effect on the maximum available torque using 3D Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is investigated in this design. Although the design improvement is intended for small wind turbines, it is also applicable to larger wind turbines.
In this work, Aqueous sericin solution was prepared by degumming process with electrolytic reduction water. Then, the microfiltration and ultrafiltration systems were applied to the concentration of aqueous sericin solution. The objective of this study was to select the optimum operating condition among the different pressure. The permeate flux and rejection ratio were observed with time, pressure, flow rate and concentration. and, the wastewater and permeated water quality values such as pH, BOD, COD, and NH levels were measured. In order to see the influence of electrolytic reduction water, the flux of pure water and electrolytic reduction water by PVDF22(MF) and PS100(UF) membrane was measured. In microfiltration system, the relative flux reduction decreased rapidly to 0.02 in the 30min, as the concentration polarization and gel layer formation were increased. and then the sericin concentration rejection ratio was 40%. In ultrafiltration system, the permeate flux decreased with time and concentration, and increased with the operating pressure and flow rate. Optimal condition in PS100 membrane system for sericin concentration was operating pressure 1.464kgf/$cm^24, operating flow rate $7\ell/min at\; 40^{\circ}C$. At that time, sericin concentration rejection ratio was 83% respectably. The sericin solution was concentrated from 0.1wt% solution to 0.2 wt % solution during about 2 hrs by the UF filteration membrane system.
Research reactors in-core experimental facilities are designed to provide the highest steady state flux for user's irradiation requirements. However, fuel conversion from highly enriched uranium (HEU) to low enriched uranium (LEU) driven by the ongoing effort to diminish proliferation risk, will impact reactor physics parameters. Preserving the reactor capability to produce the needed flux to perform its intended research functions, determines the conversion feasibility. This study investigates the neutron flux in the central experimental facility of two material test reactors (MTR), the IAEA generic10 MW benchmark reactor and the 22 MW s Egyptian Test and Research Reactor (ETRR-2). A 3D full core model with three uranium enrichment of 93%, 45%, and 20% was constructed utilizing the OpenMC particle transport Monte Carlo code. Neutronics calculations were performed for fresh fuel, the beginning of life cycle (BOL) and end of life cycle (EOL) for each of the three enrichments for both the IAEA 10 MW generic reactor and core 1/98 of the ETRR-2 reactor. Criticality calculations of the effective multiplication factor (Keff) were executed for each of the twelve cases; results show a reasonable agreement with published benchmark values for both reactors. The thermal, epithermal and fast neutron fluxes were tallied across the core, utilizing the mesh tally capability of the code and are presented here. The axial flux in the central experimental facility was tallied at 1 cm intervals, for each of the cases; results for IAEA 10 MW show a maximum reduction of 14.32% in the thermal flux of LEU to that of the HEU, at EOL. The reduction of the thermal flux for fresh fuel was between 5.81% and 9.62%, with an average drop of 8.1%. At the BOL the thermal flux showed a larger reduction range of 6.92%-13.58% with an average drop of 10.73%. Furthermore, the fission reaction rate was calculated, results showed an increase in the peak fission rate of the LEU case compared to the HEU case. Results for the ETRR-2 reactor show an average increase of 62.31% in the thermal flux of LEU to that of the HEU due to the effect of spectrum hardening. The fission rate density increased with enrichment, resulting in 34% maximum increase in the HEU case compared to the LEU case at the assemblies surrounding the flux trap.
In this study the trace of chlorinated organic compound in aqueous solution was separated by pervaporation process using crosslinked PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane) membrane. The flux of trichloroethylene(TCE) increased linearly with feed composition but the flux of water was slightly increased. The partial flux of TCE was greater than that of tetrachloroethylene(PCE). The partial flux of TCE was not changed with operating temperature, but increased rapidly with feed flow rates. High crosslinking density causes the reduction of solubility and diffusivity for target component. The reduction of flux and selectivity for TCE is due to the chain immobilization and reduction of diffusivity with crosslinking density.

Along with the development of power electronics and magnetic materials, permanent magnet (PM) brushless direct current (BLDC) motors are now widely used in many fields of modern industry BLDC motors have many advantages such as high efficiency, large peak torque, easy control of speed, and reliable working characteristics. However, Compared with the other electric motors without a PM, BLDC motors with a PM have inherent cogging torque. It is often a principle source of vibration, noise and difficulty of control in BLDC motors. Cogging torque which is produced by the interaction of the rotor magnetic flux and angular variation in the stator magnetic reluctance can be reduced by sinusoidal air-gap flux density waveform due to reduction of variation of magnetic reluctance. Therefore, this paper will present a design method of magnetizing system for reduction of cogging torque and low manufacturing cost of BLDC motor with isotropic bonded neodynium-iron-boron (Nd-Fe-B) magnets in ring type by sinusoidal air-gap flux density distribution. An analytical technique of magnetization makes use of two-dimensional finite element method (2-D FEM) and Preisach model that expresses the hysteresis phenomenon of magnetic materials in order for accurate calculation. In addition, For optimum design of magnetizing fixture, Factorial design which is one of the design of experiments (DOE) is used.
PMSM drives are widely used in the industrial and residential applications because of high efficiency, high power density and high performance. For better performance of PMSM, however, torque ripples should be reduced. This paper investigates a reduction of torque ripple due to the unsinusoidal flux linkage produced by the shapes of stator slot and magnetic pole. To minimize torque ripple, a simple flux estimator is proposed. This method interatively compensates the distributed flux linkage from an error between the measured and estimated currents. The proposed algorithm is verified through simulation.
Forward osmosis (FO) is an emerging membrane technology with potential applications in desalination and wastewater reclamation. The osmotic pressure gradient across the FO membrane is used to generate water flux. In this study, flux performance and foulant deposition on the FO membrane were systematically investigated with a co-current cross-flow membrane system. Sodium alginate (SA), bovine serum albumin (BSA) and tannic acid (TA) were used as model foulants. Organics adsorbed on the membrane were peeled off via oscillation and characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). When an initial flux of $8.42L/m^2h$ was applied, both flux reduction and foulant deposition were slight for the feed solution containing BSA and TA. In comparison, flux reduction and foulant deposition were much more severe for the feed solution containing SA, as a distinct SA cake-layer was formed on the membrane surface and played a crucial role in membrane fouling. In addition, as the initial SA concentration increased in FS, the thickness of the cake-layer increased remarkably, and the membrane fouling became more severe.

In this paper, we propose the cogging toque reduction technique of the dual stator radial flux permanent magnet generator. The cogging toque is caused by the torque ripple increase and vibration and noise of the generator. And it is important factor determining cut-in speed of the small wind generator. To reduce cogging torque, permanent magnet displacement was studied. And the theory of the permanent magnet displacement was formulated and the cogging torque reduction according to the permanent magnet displacement was confirmed through the finite element method.
