  • The problem of the onset stability in an inclined layer of dielectric viscoelastic fluid (Walter's liquid B') is studied. The analysis is made under the simultaneous action of a normal a.c. electric field and the natural convection flow due to uniformly distributed internal heat sources. The power series method used to obtain the eigen value equation which is then solved numerically to obtain the stable and unstable solutions. Numerical results are given and illustrated graphically.

  • Fluid model based numerical analysis is done to simulate a plasma processing system with electrodes at floating potential. $V_f$ is a function of electron temperature, electron mass and ion mass. Commercial plasma fluid simulation softwares do not provide options for floating electrode boundary value condition. We developed a user subroutine in CFD-ACE+ and compared four different cases: grounded, dielectric, zero normal electric field and floating electric potential for a 2D-CCP (capacitively coupled plasma) with a ring electrode.

  • Electrorheological characteristics of a dispersed system of phosphorylated potato starch particles in silicone oil investigated via a rotational rheometer equipped with a high voltage generator is being reanalysized. Flow curves of these ER fluids both under several applied electric field strengths and with different degrees of phosphate substitution were mainly examined via three different rheological constitutive equations of Bingham model, De Kee-Turcotte model and our previously proposed CCJ model. Among these, the CCJ equation was found to fit the data of phosphorylated potato starch well.

  • In the present investigation, we study the influence of a transverse magnetic field through a porous medium. Laplace transform techniques are used to derive the solution in the Laplace transform domain. The inversion process is carried out using a numerical method based on Fourier series expansions. Numerical computations for the temperature, the microrotation and the velocity distributions as well as for the induced magnetic and electric fields and carried out and represented graphically.

  • Magnetic fluid is a very stable colloid that is attracted by magnetic force as wholly. The magnetic fluids is composed with 10 nm magnetic materials such as magnetite, iron etc., which is dispersed homogeneously in solvent by coating surfactant on their surface. Also this colloid is not separated into magnetic particles and solvent even under magnetic field, centrifugal force, gravity. Due to these properties, the magnetic fluids is used in high vacuum seal, exclusion seal, damper, etc. I would like to introduce the specific properties and applications of the magnetic fluids.

  • This paper deals with the numerical simulation of the behavior of single bubble rising near the free surface. Volume fraction of fluid (VOF) method with continuum surface force (CSF) model, the well known method for two phase flow simulation is adopted. A bubble of spherical shape positioned beneath the free surface is assumed at the initial stage. The difference according to the fluid properties of surrounding medium is examined. Simulation results are depicted and explained with the time history of bubble shape, velocity field and vorticity distribution.

  • The unsteady Hartmann flow of an electrically conducting, viscous, incompressible fluid bounded by two parallel non-conducting porous plates is studied with heat transfer taking the Hall effect into consideration. An external uniform magnetic field and a uniform suction and injection are applied perpendicular to the plates while the fluid motion is subjected to an exponential decaying pressure gradient. The two plates are kept at different but constant temperatures while the Joule and viscous dissipations are included in the energy equation. The effect of the ion slip and the uniform suction and injection on both the velocity and temperature distributions is examined.

  • This article addresses the influence of partial slip condition in the hydromagnetic flow of Burgers fluid in a rotating frame of reference. The flows are induced by oscillation of a boundary. Two problems for oscillatory flows are considered. Exact solutions to the resulting boundary value problems are constructed. Analysis has been carried out in the presence of magnetic field. Physical interpretation is made through the plots for various embedded parameters.
