During stamping processes, the air trapped between sheet metal and the die cavity can be highly compressed and ultimately reduce the shape accuracy of formed panels. To prevent this problem, vent holes and passages are sometimes drilled into the based on expert experience and know-how. CAE can be also used for analyzing the air behavior in die cavity during stamping process, incorporating both elasto-plastic behavior of sheet metal and the fluid dynamic behavior of air. This study presents sheet metal forming simulation combined simultaneously with simulation of air behavior in the die cavity. There are three approaches in modeling of air behavior. One is a simple assumption of the bulk modulus having a constant pressure depending on volume change. The next is the use of the ideal gas law having uniform pressure and temperature in air domain. The third is FPM (Finite point method) having non-uniform pressure in air domain. This approach enables direct coupling of mechanical behavior of solid sheet metal and the fluid behavior of air in sheet metal forming simulation, and its result provides the first-hand idea for the location, size and number of the vent holes. In this study, commercial software, PAM-$STAMP^{TM}$ and PAM-$SAFE^{TM}$, were used.
A conveying fluid cantilever pipe system subjected to an uniformly distributed tangential follower force and three moving masses upon it constitute this vibrational system. The influences of the velocities of moving masses, the distance between two moving masses. and the uniformly distributed tangential follower force have been studied on the dynamic behavior of a cantilever pipe system by numerical mettled. The uniformly distributed tangential follower force is considered within its ciritical value of a cantilever pipe without moving masses, and three constant velocities and three constant distance between two moving masses are also chosen. When the moving masses exist on pipe, As the velocity of the moving mass and distributed tangental force increases, the deflection of cantilever pipe conveying fluid is decreased, respectively. Increasing of the velocity of fluid flow make the amplitude of cantilever pipe conveying fluid decrease. After the moving mass passed upon the pipe, the tip displacement of pipe is influenced by the potential energy of cantilever pipe.
Flexible media such as the paper, the film, etc. are thin, light and very flexible. They behave in geometrically nonlinear. Any of small force makes large deformation. So we must including aerodynamic effect when its behavior is predicted. Thus, it becomes fully coupled fluid-structure interaction(FSI) problem. In FSI problems, where the fluid mesh near the structure undergoes large deformations and becomes unacceptably distorted, which drive the time step to a very small value for explicit calculations, the arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian(ALE) methods or rezoning are used to create a new undistorted mesh for the fluid domain, which allows the calculations to continue. In this paper, FE sheet model considering geometric nonlinearity is formulated to simulate the behavior of the flexible media. Aerodynamic force to the media by surrounding air is calculated by solving the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. Q2Q1(Taylor-Hood) element which means biquadratic for velocity and bilinear for pressure is used for fluid domain. Q2Q1 element satisfies LBB condition and any stabilization technique is not needed. In this paper, cantilevered sheet in the viscous incompressible Navier-Stokes flow is simulated to check the mesh motion and numerical integration scheme, and then falling paper in the air is simulated and the effects of some representative parameters are investigated.
Squeeze film dampers (SFDs) have been commonly used to effectively enhance the dynamic behavior of the rotating shaft supported by rolling element bearings. However, due to the recent trends of high operating speed, high load capacity and light weight in rotating machinery, it is becoming increasingly important to change the dynamic characteristics of rotating machines in operation so that the excessive vibrations, which may occurparticularly when passing through critical speeds or unstable regions, can be avoided. Semi-active type SFDs using magneto-rheological fluid (MR fluid), which responds to an applied magnetic field with a change in rheological behavior, are introduced in order to find its applications to rotating machinery as an effective device attenuating unbalance responses. In this paper, a semi-active SFD using MR fluid is designed, tested, and identified to investigate the capability of changing its dynamic properties such as damping and stiffness. In order to apply the MR-SFD to the vibration attenuation of a rotor, a systematic approach for determining the damper's optimal location is investigated, and also, a control algorithm that could improve the unbalance response characteristics of a flexible rotor is proposed and its control performance is validated with a numerical example.
In this study, the effects of the angles of spacer filaments and the different feed Reynolds number on the fluid flow behavior have been investigated. Three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) study is carried out for fluid flow through rectangular channels within different angles ($30^{\circ}$, $40^{\circ}$, $50^{\circ}$, $60^{\circ}$, $70^{\circ}$, $80^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$, $100^{\circ}$, $110^{\circ}$, $120^{\circ}$, respectively) between two filaments of spacer for membrane modules. The results show that the feed Reynolds number and the angles of spacer filaments have an important influence on pressure drop. While the feed Reynolds number is fixed, the optimal angle of spacer should be between $80^{\circ}$ to $90^{\circ}$, because the pressure drop is not only relatively small, but also high flow rate region expanded significantly with the increase of the angles between $80^{\circ}$ to $90^{\circ}$.The Contours of velocities and change of the average shear stress with the different angle of spacer filaments confirm the conclusion.

Furthermore, the proposed device is applied to a rotor system to investigate its potential capability for vibration attenuation: an efficient method for selecting the optimal location of the proposed damper is introduced and control algorithm that could improve the unbalance response properties of a flexible rotor is also proposed.
This paper studies the dynamic behavior of laminated composite circular cylindrical shells interacting with a fluid. The mathematical formulation of the dynamic problem for an elastic body is developed based on the variational principle of virtual displacements and the relations of linear elasticity theory. The behavior of an ideal compressible fluid is described by the potential theory, the equations of which together with boundary conditions are transformed to a weak form. The hydrodynamic pressure exerted by the fluid on the internal surface of the shell is calculated according to the linearized Bernoulli equation. The numerical implementation of the mathematical formulation has been done using the semi-analytical finite element method. The influence of the ply angle and lay-up configurations of laminated composites on the natural vibration frequencies and the hydroelastic stability boundary have been analyzed for shells with different geometrical dimensions and under different kinematic boundary conditions set at their edges. It has been found that the optimal value of the ply angle depends on the level of filling of the shell with a fluid. The obtained results support the view that by choosing the optimal configuration of the layered composite material it is possible to change upwards or downwards the frequency and mode shape, as well as the critical velocity for stability loss over a wide range.

Jet pump is one type of artificial lifts and is used when depth and deviation of producing wells increases and pressure depletion occurs. In the present study, numerical analysis has been carried out to analyze the flow behavior and find the performance of the jet pump. Reynolds-averaged Navier Stokes equations were solved and k-${\varepsilon}$ turbulence model was used for simulations. Water and light oil as primary fluids were used to pump water, light oil and heavy oil. The ratios of area and length to diameter of the mixing tube were considered as design parameters. The pump efficiency was considered to maximize for the downhole conditions. It was found that the increase in viscosity and density of the secondary fluid reduced efficiency of the system. Water as primary fluid produced better efficiency than the light oil. It was also found that the longer throat length increased efficiency upto 40% if light oil was used as primary fluid and secondary fluid viscosity was 350 cSt.

A finite element vibration analysis of thin-walled cylindrical shells conveying fluid with uniform velocity is presented. The dynamic behavior of thin-walled shell is based on the Sanders' theory and the fluid in cylindrical shell is considered as inviscid and incompressible so that it satisfies the Laplace's equation. A beam-like shell element is used to reduce the number of degrees-of-freedom by restricting to the circumferential modes of cylindrical shell. An estimation of frequency response function of the pipe considering of the coupled effects of the internal fluid is presented. A dynamic coupling condition of the interface between the fluid and the structure is used. The effective thickness of fluid according to circumferential modes is also discussed. The influence of fluid velocity on the frequency response function is illustrated and discussed. The results by this method are compared with published results and those by commercial tools.
Contact-metamorphosed calc-silicate hornfels of the Hwanggangni formation adjacent to Daeyasan granite in Goesan are characterized by the mineral assemblages. tremolite-clinozoisite-alkali feldspar-calcite, diopside-grossular-vesuvianite, and wollastonite-diopside-phlogopite-grossular-vesuvianite, indicating low $X_{CO_2}$ condition during contact metamorphism. Two trends of fluid-rock interactions are recognized; combination of infiltration and buffering in the outer portion of the aureole and fluid-dominated behavior in the most part of the aureole. Modal abundance of diopside produced during metamorphism was measured in order to estimate fluid/rock ratios and permeabilities with the assumption that equivalent volume of fluids estimated from the fluid/rock ratios flow through the rock body. The calculated fluid/rock rations and permeabilities range from 0.6 to 9 and $10^{-19}$ to $10^{-17}$ meabilities in the calc-silicate hosted contact aureoles and expected values during progressive metamorphism by theories.
