The instrumented capsule is subjected to flow-induced vibration(FIV) due to the flow of the primary coolant and then the structural integrity of the capsule during irradiation in the HANARO reactor is an issue of major concern. For this purpose the acceleration was measured by four accelerometers attached to the protection tube of the capsule mainbody and the displacement of test holes was calcultated using commercial finite element program ANSYS to evaluate the structural interference with the neighboring flow tubes under the reactor operating condition. The calculated displacements of test holes in the reactor in-core were found to be lower than the values of allowable design criteria.

The fluid induced vibration (FIV) phenomena of a 2-D.O.F airfoil system have been investigated in low Reynolds number incompressible flow region. Unsteady flows with viscosity are computed using two-dimensional incompressible Navier-stokes code. To validate developed Navier-Stokes code, steady and unsteady flow fields around airfoil are analyzed. The present fluid/structure interaction analysis is based on the most accurate computational approach with computational fluid dynamics (CSD) and computational structural dynamics (CSD) techniques. The highly nonlinear fluid/structure interaction phenomena due to severe flow separations have been analyzed fur the low Reynolds region (R$_{N}$ =500~5000) that has a dominancy of flow viscosity. The effect of R$_{N}$ on the fluid/structure coupled vibration instability of 2-DOF airfoil system is presented and the effect of initial angle of attack on the dynamic instability are also shown.own.

In this study, advanced computational analysis system has been developed in order to investigate flow-induced vibration(FIV) phenomenon for general stator-rotor cascade configurations. Relative movement of the rotor with respect to stator is reflected by modeling Independent two computational domains. Fluid domains are modeled using the unstructured grid system with dynamic moving and local deforming methods. Unsteady, Reynolds-averaged Wavier-stokes equations with one equation Spalart-Allmaras and two-equation SST ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence models are solved for unsteady flow problems and also relative moving and vibration effects of the rotor cascade are fully considered. A coupled implicit time marching scheme based on the Newmark integration method is used for computing the governing equations of fluid-structure interaction problems. Detailed vibration responses for different flow conditions are presented and then vibration characteristics are physically investigated in the time domain as computational virtual tests.

In this study, flutter analyses for supercritical airfoil have been conducted in transonic region. Advanced computational analysis system based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and computational structural dynamics (CSD) has been developed in order to investigate detailed static and dynamic responses of supercritical airfoil. Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations with Spalart-Allmaras (S-A) and SST ${\kappa}-{\omega}$ turbulence models are solved for unsteady flow problems. A fully implicit time marching scheme based on the Newmark direct integration method is used for computing the coupled aeroelastic governing equations of cascades for fluid-structure interaction (FSI) problems. Also, flow-induced vibration (FIV) analyses for various supercritical airfoil models have been conducted. Detailed flutter responses for supercritical are presented to show the physical performance and vibration characteristics in various angle of attack.

The outermost SG tubes have more structural problems than inside tubes. Many studies have used a uniform added mass coefficient for all of the SG tubes during the FIV analysis. The purpose of this study is to find out the added mass coefficients for each tube in a cylindrical shell. When a number of tubes are increased, added mass coefficients are also increased. And added mass coefficients at outermost tubes are less than those of inside tubes. According to gap changes between outermost tube and cylindrical shell, added mass coefficients are decreased with increasing the gap. When the gap has very large value, it shows that the added mass coefficient is asymptotically converged to the value of the tube array in a free fluid field.

In this study, we investigate the plugging effect on the CE type steam generator tube. The natural frequency and mode shape will be changed due to decrease of the effective mass distribution along the tube. We compared the variation of stability ratio for plugged tube with that for unplugged one. The natural frequency increased because of removing the cooling water inside the steam generator tube, but the stability ratio decreased inversely because of changing the vibrational model shape. We also investigated the turbulent excitation effect.

Spiral tubes are used in a wide range of applications and it is significant to understand the vibration introduced by two-phase flow in spiral tubes. In this paper, the numerical method is used to study the vibration induced by the gas-liquid two-phase flow in a spiral tube with different flow regimes. The pressure fluctuation characteristics at the pipe wall and the solid vibration response characteristics are obtained. The results show that the motion of small bubbles in bubbly flow leads to small pressure fluctuations with low-frequency broadband (0-50 Hz). The motion of the gas plug in the plug flow causes small amplitude periodic pressure fluctuation with a shortened low-frequency broadband (0-15 Hz) compared to the bubbly flow. The motion of the gas slug in the slug flow causes large periodic fluctuations in pressure with a significant dominant frequency (6-7 Hz). The wavy flow is very stable and has a distinct main frequency (1-2 Hz). The vibration regime in the bubbly flow and wave flow are close to the first-order mode, and the vertical vibrating component is dominant. The plug flow and slug flow excite higher-order vibration modes, and the lateral vibration component plays more important part in the vibration response.
