중량물의 동적 거동에 미치는 크레인 붐(boom)의 탄성 영향 분석 (Analysis of an Elastic Boom Effect on the Dynamic Response of a Cargo)

  • In this paper, in order to analyze the dynamic response of a floating crane when it lifts a heavy cargo, the boom of the floating crane is considered as an elastic beam. The boom is divided into elements based on finite element formulation and the floating frame of reference formulation and nodal coordinates are employed to model the boom as a flexible body. As an extension of the previous study, in order to consider spatial motion in waves, the coupled equations of motions of the 6 degree of freedom (DOF) floating crane and 6 DOF cargo are developed based on the flexible multibody system dynamics. The 3 dimensional deformation of the elastic boom is considered with 18 DOF. The dynamic simulation of the floating crane and the cargo is performed under regular wave conditions with various cargo weights. Finally, the effects of the elastic boom on lifting cargo are discussed by comparing the simulation results between the elastic boom and a rigid boom.

연직판형 부소파제의 수리학적 특성과 동적거동 (Hydraulic Characteristics and Dynamic Behaviors of Floating Breakwater with Vertical Plates)

  • In order to develop a floating breakwater, which can efficiently control long period waves, vertical plates are attached in pontoon. Wave control and dynamic behaviors of the newly developed vertical plates type are verified from numerical analysis and hydraulic experiment. As a result, for the wave control and energy dissipation, the newly developed vertical plates type is more efficient than the conventional pontoon type. For the floating body motion, the wave transmission, depending on incident wave period, is decreased at the natural frequency. Dimensionless drift distance has similar trend of the reflection rate of wave transformation near natural frequency except maximum and minimum values. Dimensionless maximum tension is 17 percent of the weight of floating breakwater in case of the conventional pontoon type and 18 percent or 14 percent in case of the newly developed vertical plates type. Thus, it is shown that the wave control is improved by the vertical plates type. In addition, by adjusting the interval of the front and back vertical plate, we would control proper wave control.

터렛 계류된 부유체의 과대 선수동요에 관한 실험 연구 (Experimental Study of Excessive Yaw Motion of Turret Moored Floating Body)

  • Excessive yaw motion of a turret moored vessel was examined in this paper. The vessel was moored by an internal turret and catenary mooring lines. The experiments were conducted in regular waves. Turret moored vessel can oscillate from side to side or move to one particular direction, and eventually exhibit large yaw motion. The results showed that the excessive yaw occured for specific condition, ratio of wave lengths and vessel length. It was found that turret moored floating vessel was unstable for regular wave period from 14 to 18 sec and excessive yaw occurred to maximum 50 deg. The time series, trajectory, phase plot and qualitative analysis are performed. The analysis showed that the results of experiments agreed with the that of analytic method and the excessive yaw could be predicted by the stability analysis.

  • 해양 파력 발전 시스템의 설계를 위하여 본 연구에서는 6-자유도운동해석 기법을 적용한 3차원 CFD 해석으로 두 개의 부유체에 대한 거동을 유입되는 파의 성질에 따라 해석하였다. 수조모델내에서의 파의 생성형상을 현재 실험에서 가장 많이 사용되는 피스톤 형식의 조파기와 동일한 형태의 파를 생성하였으나 얕은 수심으로 인하여 바닥면에서 생성되는 에크만 경계층에 의해 파의 에너지가 감쇄되는 현상을 보였다. 생성된 파를 이용하여 파장에 따른 부유체의 거동을 계산한 결과 파장이 5m인 경우 부유체의 최대 진폭은 0.3m, 파장 1m인 경우 최소 진폭은 0.15m 그리고 파장 6m인 경우 부유체간 최대 거리는 1.06m로 계산되었다.

부유식 해상관측시설의 파랑중 운동 및 표류력 해석 (Analysis of Motion Response and Drift Force in Waves for the Floating-Type Ocean Monitoring Facilities)

  • 본 연구에서는 부유식 해상관측시설의 파랑중 운동응답 및 표류력 해석을 위해 Green 적분방정식에 기초한 3차원 수치해법을 개발하였다. 본 방법에서는 소오스분포와 더브렛분포를 함께 사용하였으며, 판요소로는 3각형 요소와 4각형 요소를 병행 사용하였다. 불규칙파수 현상을 제거하기 위해 개량된 적분방정식 해법을 적용하였으며, 시간평균 표류력의 계산은 원인별 성분파악이 가능한 물체표면 직접적분법을 사용하였다. 개발된 전산 프로그램의 검증을 위해 비교자료가 있는 구형 부유체에 대한 계산이 수행되었고, 이에 대한 계산을 통해 개발된 프로그램으로부터 신뢰성있는 결과를 얻을 수 있음을 확인하였다. 실제시설에 대한 적용예로서 직경 2.6m 흘수 3.77m인 원통형 해상관측용 부이에 대한 계산을 수행하여 그 운동특성 및 표류력 특성을 고찰하였다. 운동응답 해석결과는 공진주파수를 설치해역의 파랑 탁월주파수 범위밖에 놓이도록 부이의 형상과 치수를 조정하는데 활용할 수 있고, 또 이들 계산을 통해 댐퍼 등의 설치효과도 미리 예측할 수 있다. 또한, 계산된 표류력은 황천중에서 계류계에 걸리는 최대하중을 예측하는데 이용할 수 있으므로 계류계의 설계에 있어 중요한 기초자료로 활용된다. 본 수치해법은 원칙적으로 대상 부유체의 형상에 제약을 받지 않으므로 향후 다양한 형상의 부유식 해상관측 시설들의 설계 및 설치$\cdot$운용에 폭 넓게 적용할 수 있다.

The Function of Computer Utilization in Educating and Researching Ocean Engineering Problems

  • Nowadays, the computational capability and graphical power based on PCs increase very rapidly every year. As a result, the complicated engineering or scientific problems that could have only been handled by supercomputers a couple of decades ago can now be routinely run on PCs. Besides, the PCs can be assembled in parallel to increase its computational capability theoretically without limitation. The Web-based interface and communication tools are also being enhanced very rapidly and the real-time distance learning (E-Learning) and project cooperation on web get increasing attention. Using the-state-of-the-art computational method, a number of complicated and computationally intensive problems are being solved by PCs. The results can be well demonstrated on screen by graphics and animation tools. Those examples include the simulations of fully nonlinear waves, their interactions with floating bodies, global-motion analysis of multi-unit floating production system including complicated mooring lines and risers. Several examples will be presented in this regard. Also, Web and java-applet based educational tools have been developed at Texas A&M University for better understanding of waves and wave-body interactions. The background and examples of such Web-based educational tools published in Kim et al. (2003) are briefly introduced here.

연직인장계류된 원형부유체의 파랑응답에 관한 연구 (A Study on Wave Responses of Vertical Tension-Leg Circular Floating Bodies)

  • 본 연구에서는 규칙파동장에 있어서 인장계류된 원형부유체의 파랑응답해석에 2차원 Navier-Stokes solver에 기초한 새로운 수치파동수조모델을 제안하였다. 본 수치파동수조모델에서는 이동구조물과 유체와의 상호작용을 해석하기 위하여 직각좌표계에서 임의형상의 불투과경계를 갖는 구조물과 유체와의 연성해석이 가능한 IBM(Immersed Boundary Method)과 자유수면 추적을 위한 VOF(Volume of Fluid)법을 결합하였다. 부유체운동에 대한 수치결과를 기존의 FAVOR(Fractional Area Volume Obstacle Representation)법에 의한 계산결과 및 수리실험과 비교하였다. 게다가, 수치모델의 보다 자세한 검증을 위하여 원형부유체의 동요 및 자유수면변동에 관한 수리모형을 추가로 실시하였고, 제안된 수치모델의 범용성과 타당성을 검증하기 위하여 직사각형부유체에 대한 수치 및 수리실험도 병행하였다. 이로부터 추정된 수치계산결과는 실험결과를 잘 재현하고 있는 것으로 판단되었다.

Horizontal hydrodynamic coupling between shuttle tanker and FPSO arranged side-by-side

  • Side-by-side offloading operations are widely utilized in engineering practice. The hydrodynamic interactions between two vessels play a crucial role in safe operation. This study focuses on the coupled effects between two floating bodies positioned side-by-side as a shuttle tanker-FPSO (floating production, storage and offloading) system. Several wave directions with different side-by-side distances are studied in order to obtain the variation tendency of the horizontal hydrodynamic coefficients, motion responses and mean drift forces. It is obtained that the coupled hydrodynamics between two vessels is evidently distinguished from the single body case with shielding and exaggerating effects, especially for sway and yaw directions. The resonance frequency and the peak amplitude are closely related with side-by-side separation distance. In addition, the horizontal hydrodynamics of the shuttle tanker is more susceptible to coupled effects in beam waves. It is suggested to expand the gap distance reasonably in order to reduce the coupled drift forces effectively. Attention should also be paid to the second peaks caused by hydrodynamic coupling. Since the horizontal mean drift forces are the most mainly concerned forces to be counteracted in dynamic positioning (DP) system and mooring system, prudent prediction is beneficial in saving consumed power of DP system and reducing tension of mooring lines.

초대형 부유식 구조물의 돌핀-펜더계류시스템에 관한 실험연구 (Experimental Study on a Dolphin-Fender Mooring System for Pontoon-Type Structure)

  • in this paper a dolphin-fender moored pontoon-type floating structure in shallow water depth is studied focusing on mooring force. The pontoon-type floating structure is 500m long, 300m wide. The structure has partially non-uniform drafts of 2.0m and 3.0m. The employed mooring system is a guyed frame type dolphin-fender system. The 1/125 scale model fender system is made of rubber tube to have hi-linear load deflection characteristics. A series of model tests has been conducted focusing on motion and fender force responses in regular and irregular waves at KRISO's ocean engineering basin Non-linear numerical simulation of fender reaction force has been carried out and the results are compared with those of model tests. The simulated rigid body motion and mooring forces also have been compared with the test results.

Theoretical Analysis of Wave Energy Converter

  • Floating devices, such as a cavity resonance device take advantage of both the water motion and the wave induced motions of the floating body itself. The wave energy converter is known commercially as the WAGB(Wave Activated Generator Buoy) and is used in some commercially available buoys to power navigation aids such as lights and horns. This wave energy converter consists of a circular floatation body which contains a vertical center pipe that has free communication with the sea. A theoretical analysis of this power generated by a pneumatic type wave energy converter is performed and the results obtained from the analysis are used for a real wave energy converter for buoy. This paper presents the analysis results and the design method for the WEC(Wave Energy Converter), and the associate results are application to the commercially available WEC for buoy. Maximum performance of WEC occurs at resonance with driving waves. The analysis of WEC is performed with LabVIEW program, and the design method of WEC for buoy is suggested in this paper.
