Flight simulator Development for a Large Number of UAVs (대량 소형 무인 항공체 비행시뮬레이터 개발)

  • 개인 레저용, 상업용형 소형 무인 항공체 (UAV, Unmanded Aerial Vehicle)가 급증하는 상황에서 지상의 장애물과 법 규제 등으로 인하여 좁은 공간에 높은 밀도로 비행할 것이 예상 된다. 본 논문에서는 이런 상황에서 다수의 UAV가 비행 시에 발생할 수 있는 상황을 테스트를 위하여 Nvidia社의 PhysX 물리 엔진을 사용한 Unity3D를 이용하여 시뮬레이터를 개발한 결과를 보인다. 실제 비행 전 시뮬레이션으로 UAV의 이동 및 충돌여부, 병목현상 등에 대한 정보를 취득할 수 있도록 개발 하였다.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a training scenario for KA-32T helicopter simulator. First, the concept of training scenario are classified into training elements and training information. Secondly, the training elements are defined according to the property of each element: flight phase, situation, and environment. The main mission of KA-32T on the operation of KFS(Korea Forest Service) is the forest fire extinguishment mission, and it is divided into the two disciplines: water supply and water discharge. Finally the mission scenario for two disciplines are defined and developed as the combination of the normal procedures of training scenario and the mission procedures.

  • HILS is widely used in the test and evaluation of complex control system. This paper describes the structure of HILS and the control loop performance monitoring of HILS system Distal path delay and FMS(Flight Motion Simulator) dynamics were estimated and output of the estimated model were compared with real FMS output. The monitoring system can be used for analyzing the result of HILS.

  • This paper presents the configuration and performance test results of a SDARS, which consists of three rate gyros and Zilog 8002 microprocessor. Real time hardware-inthe-loop simulation was performed by 3 axis flight motion simulator applying the assumed typical profiles of angular motion. Test results showed that the performance of SDARS was satisfactory. And, attitude errors was reduced by compensation of gyro errors.

  • The use of flight training simulators has been increased remarkably during the past 20 years stimulated by the benefit that simulators can contribute to safety and training efficiency. Simulators have incorporated higher and higher levels of reality to provide more realistic training. Now, however, users are beginning to question how such reality is enough. Especially, it has raised question about the need for a notion system in the aircraft simulator. To help answer this question, this report describes notion cue requirements and types of motion system, and finally presents the assessment of the effectiveness of three different notion system alternatives.

  • The rapid prototyping process and development tool which enable the control law evaluation efficiently are needed to minimize the development cycle, cost and risk of aircraft flight control system. This paper describes a development process that integrates the designed control law into HETLAS to evaluate simulation effectively using nonlinear mathematical models. The desktop engineering simulator was developed using HETLAS for the piloted simulation evaluation of a various control modes and the procedure was developed, which quickly integrates the HETLAS into HQS(Handling Quality Simulator) and HILS(Hardware In the Loop Simulation) environments. This paper presents a rapid prototyping process using HETLAS that significantly shortens the integration process of the control law into the nonlinear math model, HETLAS, and allows the control law designs to be quickly tested in the piloted simulation and HILS environments.

  • The mission of UAV has been expanded from a land to an ocean based on an enhancement of its technologies. Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) also tries to expand the mission of tilt rotor UAV to an ocean, in which the shipboard landing of UAV is required. However the environment of an oceanic operation is severer than that of land due to salty, fogy, and windy condition. The landing point for automatic landing is not fixed due to movement of shipboard in roll, pitch, and heave. It makes the oceanic operation and landing of UAV difficult. In order to conduct an oceanic operation of tilt rotor UAV, this paper presents that the sea wave modeling according to the sea state is conducted and the shipboard landing of tilt rotor UAV under the sea wave is tested and evaluated through the flight simulator for UAV.

  • According to the results of a survey of pilots, 92% or 230 out of 252 respondents said they had experienced flight errors during flight. As so many pilots are experiencing Spatial Disorientation, and this is one of the main causes of aircraft accidents and loss of life, so it is important to understand accurately. However, in Korea, training equipment for fixed-wing pilots has already been developed and trained, or recently developed, and some equipment for helicopter pilots is available in the Korea Air Force, but there is no environment for helicopter pilots to receive training in Spatial Disorientation prevention. Therefore, we intend to produce a helicopter-only simulator, present a program to prevent possible Spatial Disorientation during flights for helicopter pilots, and propose legal and institutional measures based on future training data.

  • In this paper, design, development and evaluation of DIP(Database Interface Program) are presented. The main purpose of this study is to improve the simulation quality to get more realistic response of target system. The designed and developed major function is composed of flexible memory structure, efficient arithmetic database language and high speed interpolation/extrapolation algorithm. To evaluate the operation speed and accuracy of returned data, trim simulation is performed based on in-house software and, DIP is applied to existing real-time simulator such as engineering HQS(Handling Quality Simulator) to evaluate reliability and performance. The result of evlaution reveals that calculation speed and data accuracy are satisfied, and flight performance is satisfied in the real-time simulator environments.
